cross train express

I don't know why, but I have this thing set in my head that I have to do 35-45 mins of aerobic exercise for it to benefit me. Therefore, I was not interested in the cross train xpress series. I noticed that a lot of the aerobis are say 23 mins. Do you feel this series is worth buying and if so why? Thank you for all your time.

I don't use CTX very much, but if you like the types of aerobics in the series (I'm not a kickbox fan) then you may want to take a look. CTX has terrific weight portions, but if you only want one or two of the cardios, you can buy the upper body and Leaner Legs separately.

I keep my aerobics to 25-30 minutes by doing either IMAX, Intense Moves, RS or BM Step (minus the warmups), and I'm sweating by the end. Anything more than half an hour, my attention wanders ....

My opinion (note that it is just my opinion) is that the tape is still worth it. I use it when I am in a hurry and feel like doing both cardio and wts. and I also use it in combination with other chapters from other DVDs. For instance, I sometimes mix 1 CTX cardio or interval section with 1 powermax or Rhythmic Step section. I also sometimes use more than 1 cardio portion from CTX - I love putting All Step with one of the other hi/lo or kickbox sections. I love how Cathe mixes step with kickbox on the kickbox sections. It is soooo fun! It makes for a nice variety, etc!

It is also great on those days that you are simply just limited for time:)

Plus I LOVE the Upper Body Split and Leaner Leg Sections! GREAT!!!!!!!

Even thought I don't use this tape everyday I still would say I have and am still getting my money's worth out of it.

I like these tapes!

I used to think that I needed to get at least 30mins of cardio in. But now I realize that ANY cardio is good. As long as you add a few longer cardios in during the week, I think it's beneficial to do CTX.

You get in a fun, tough workout with some weight training. It's great when you're tired, not motivated or short on time. I figure, if I'm tired, it's better to do one of these tapes than nothing at all. So I think it's worth it. You may not burn tons of calories, but there's more to exercise than burning calories! Plus, you feel great after you do the workout!
 
Well maybe it's just me, but Cathe makes 23min seem like more! With the warm ups (which are quite active) + the cardio and cool down, most workouts are at least 25-30min.
They are (IMO)like mini Imax's, because each has intervals stuck in there somewhere, with the exception of All Step I think. But I use the cardio's on a regular basis either alone for a quick worthwhile workout, or with another strength video if not using the strength from CTX.
I think it's a fantastic value, but only if you're in to Cathe's cardio, otherwise, you can just get the CTX Upper Body + Leaner Legs and you'd have the weights segments. But for me, the cardio's are a super value. If I only have 30min for aerobics, I KNOW I'm getting an intense, heart pumping workout with any of the cardio's from the series.

I'm with Donna here- 23 minutes maybe after the warm up. The CTX warm ups dive right in there. Not a wasted moment! Each of the CTX cardios will make your post-workout shower and blow-dry part of your cool-down! Total workout time: 70 mins!

I just wanted to say I love these tapes! I use them alot! If I'm in a hurry and just don't have the time I will use them; or if I'm doing Cathe's weight tapes I'll tack one on so I'll get some cardio. You are really working for the whole 30 minutes! The sweat just pours off me when I finish her cardio segments and I love them all. I had bought the 6 firm tapes and their cardios ones were awful. I barely raised my heart rate nor did I work up a sweat. They were such a waste of money! If anyone wants them let me know. My advice is to get the cross train express they are worth the money!

I have Power Circuit and can't believe she even manages to throw in an ab section too. Talk about time efficient!!! I love that it just moves along and tries to kill me without trying to bore me while she does it. I hate long tedious warm ups. I won't get older tapes because of that. No attention span!
 
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE CTX

Time efficient, heart pumping, diverse...crazy fun! Worth every penny and more. AND, I love it more and more as time goes by. Cathe is fabulous in these tapes!

I Just have to add an addtl. 2 cents. I did CTX Power Circuit today because I was rushed on time this morning. It ROCKS!!!!! I got a great workout in less than 50 minutes because I cut out the abs and upper body. I just did hte Power Circuit/hilo, step and kickbox circuit sections. They were great. I was sweatin', rockin' and got an amazing workout for the time!!!!!!!!!

Other posters are right in that it does not feel like 20+minutes. Cathe has a way of kickin' your butt in such a short amount of time.

Definitely worth purchasing:)

I wouldn't judge by the time if I were you. I use other tapes by different instructors and at the end of a much longer session, I'm nowhere near the feeling of Cathe's tapes. Cathe packs a lot of power into her tapes, so I think her shorter tape is equal to a much longer tape by another instructor. I love this series cos on those morning when you just don't want to do anything; I can pop CTX into the VCR, get a good workout and know it's over in 30 minutes. It's amazing to me how 10 or 15 extra minutes on tapes can seem like forever if you're not in the mood.
