Crest Whitening Strips - OUCH!

I just finished a week of Crest Premium Whitening Strips. I gotta say...they really hurt! My gums stung and my teeth were very sensitive. I'm SO glad that's over! I had considered getting a pack to do a second week, but I don't think I can take it. It was almost as bad as the 30 seconds of Listerine every morning!

I had the same thing happen-- my teeth were hyper sensitive while using the strips and for a few weeks afterwards. There were a few times where they really hurt. I haven't tried the strips since:(

Yup, this happened to me too. I used the strips before my wedding a year and a half ago, and haven't used them since. I'd rather have brown teeth than go through that pain again! (Not that I have brown teeth, I'm just saying... ;) )

I just got done with my 2 weeks of applications and didn't have any problems with them. Interesting how everyone reacts differently to things!

I know! The same thing happened to me. I made it until day 5, my teeth were so sensitive after that last application that I couldn't even open my mouth - any air on my teeth was excrutiating, I was literally in tears.

Yeah, they bothered my teeth too quite abit, but I still stuck with them to the end as they are expensive and I want the prize at the end! ;-)

That's what my attitude was too, Charlotte. I couldn't see spending $25 on them and not finishing. Even though I wanted to stop after day 4. My teeth almost felt like they did when I would get the wires tightened on my braces. After a few days when the pain was almost gone, but still there a little bit.

I think next time I'll ask my dentist how much he charges.

I had the ZOOM whitening done at my dentist's office and have to say it was one of the most painful experiences I have ever had (and I've had two children, one with forceps, the other natural!) My teeth are also HYPER sensitive and afterwards my teeth hurt so bad that I was almost in tears. I haven't used any whitening products since (other than the normal whitening toothpaste.) The thought of it makes me cringe!

I recently bought the prescription version of Crest Strips from my dentist. It's a three-week process and it costs $60. It's four times more powerful than the store-bought variety -- and a couple of times I woke up in the night with my teeth aching. But I did stick it out because I wanted them as white as possible before I had a couple of porcelain fillings replaced in the front. It was worth it.

FYI -- my dentist recommended using Sensodyne and fluoride rinse to combat the sensitivity. It helped me quite a bit, once I took his advice. :)

Donna, my teeth hurt with Crest, too even if I did the treatment every other day or only twice a week 'til it was all gone. I tried the Rembrandt brand and it felt better, not as much soreness. I read somewhere that the Rembrandt brand has something in it that numbs sensation. I don't know how true that is -- there's nothing on the label that says so, but it's certainly what I'm sticking too from now on. Crest just BURNS. And there's no way I'm paying the dentist $600 for a treatment that doesn't last as long as they promise AND hurts just as much as the OTC kind. At least your teeth are prettier, huh?:)

I had the sensitivity problem, too, after about day 4 or 5. It lasted until about a couple of weeks after I stopped. I remember constantly banging on my teeth with my knuckles to make it feel better.:-( I did stick with it for 2 weeks, though.

Pinky, I actually shelled out $500 for a whitening system from my dentist & I could not stick with it. They were so sensitive. It was such a huge waste of money, but I just couldn't take the discomfort.

Needless to say, I am in no hurry to try the OTC products.

i have had the stuff done at the dentist and tried many OTC whitening products. they ALL kill my teeth. the treatmetn i had in the dentist office was very painful and i almost didn't make it to the end. i'll settle for sorta white teeth and get veneers one day!

jes;-)

You know what kills me more? When the dentist finds a new thing in my mouth to "fix" that will cost me hundreds of dollars. And these things that need "fixing" never bother me. It's all cosmetic.x(

I also had a problem with t he crest strips although I dunno how people could continue on with strips even tho they had pain. My pain was so bad, I felt like my gums were being eaten away. I had finished all the upper teeth strips and had just started the bottoms when the irritaion started. I called my dentist and they were really of no help then I called the number on the box for advice on what to do and they took my info down and I got a refund check in the mail 2 weeks later. Thats god to know that the dentists whitening proedures can make your teeth sensitive also, cuz I was gonna try that but now that I know, maybe I wont.

Tonight is my 14th and final time with those $&^$@@ strips! The first 2 days my teeth were very sensitive, so much that I didn't want to eat. (Hmmmm    ) Then that went away and now there are places on my teeth where apparently the enamel is worn away and the pain from the strips about sends me up the wall. It is the longest 30 minutes of my life.

I can't see me doing this again, which is unfortunate since I'm such a coffee drinker!

I've tried...did so successfully last a while ago but recently couldn't take it. Can't do it once a day let alone the reccommended twice a day...makes me want to cry!

I think our government should use these to torture information out of international spies.

well, i am a coffee drinker too and i love red wine, but i am NOT above lookin ridiculous an dusing a straw! that's my solution to keeping my teeth whiter;-)

I used them once...for a week...couldn't stand to use them any longer...my teeth hurt like crazy...never again. ;(
