Could working out REALLY have any effect on bowling?

I took my little one bowling today. I haven't been in oh...maybe...15 years. I've always been horrible at it. Well, today I actually did pretty good. (And yes, I was using the bumpers, but only had 2 balls that actually hit them). I got 3 spares and a strike.

Could it be the increase in my upper body strength? Or maybe because I'm older and understand the physics better...

Yes, having more upper body strength will make you able to throw the ball harder and make it easier to get more pins to go down.

Lovvvvvvvve Bowling, but its not my upper body strength that lets me down, its my total lack of "direction".

I swear Im aiming for the pins in my own lane, but.................

Marion - I have that same problem trying to throw things. I aim them one direction and they always go somewhere else. Caused me to bean my little girl in the head with a snowball this winter. Thank God I threw it lightly (I was aiming for the dog).

Oh Donna, its proberly very wrong of me to find THAT funny, but I do, and all I can think is:

thank god you werent throwing a BALL at the dog!

This is funny. My DH and I met on a bowling league. A friend of mine enticed me to join after my divorce. I was awful!! But my future DH insisted on being my "coach" and now almost 8 yrs later I still suck!!! But have true love in my life for having that experience.:D

Oh Catherine, you found love amongest all the "balls"

:)

Will you know what they say Catherine

Never let you partner

Teach you to drive
Practice DYO in YOUR OWN home
Own a chq book, credit card, library card, and any other word ending with "card"
Explain to you whats under the hood of the car
And NOW bowling (hence you still suck!! at it)

Most definitely! Working out can effect many things positively, because of your increased strength, flexibility and coordination of body movements. (Though I would probably still need those bumper thingies that kids use!)

I have been bowling since I was 2 yo (minus a few years when I had kids), and am just now getting ready to order a new bowling ball and start bowling again. Now that I'm working out with Cathe I'll be able to tell if my upper strength helps with my bowling. I'll let you know when I get to try the new bowling ball.

My DH always wins any game we play...except when we go bowling (usually); he isn't a very good loser though. :7
