Could someone help get me started?

New here! Just getting back into fitness now that my kids are old enough that I can spend some time on myself again. I've been doing The Firm tapes for about 6 months. Have gone from a size 8/10 to a size 4 without much effort. Trying to kick it up a notch--want to get super healthy and fit, look and feel good. I've been on the search for the right tapes and landed here--Lucky Me! There are so many tapes, I'm a little befuddled. What I am looking for is a recs for strenght training and step tapes. If I could start out slowly and get one of each, I'd like to build my collection from there.
Not sure what my fitness level is, but I used to weight train several years ago and have found that I improve very fast. If a tape is a little over my head, that's OK, I can take it slow and work into it.
Could somebody please help me get started? I'm ready to order, the CC is smoking~!!!
Thanks :)

Well welcome aboard!!! You've absolutely come to the right spot to kick your training into high gear! :)

For recommendations, it somewhat depends on the amount of equipment you have. Cathe dominates the step board, but I'd highly recommend in investing in the full size health club style of step board if you're going to do her tapes.

While you have been doing Firm vids and are conditioned, Cathe cardio is in an entirely different universe, so I would recommend some of her earlier/less intense/less impactful tapes. For cardio, How to Get in Shape for your Wedding packs a nice bang for the buck. You'll get a 40 minute step workout, and about a 40 minute weight routine. For just cardio, I'd recommend either Step Heat (great abs!!), Cardio Kicks (kickboxing, no equipment needed), or Mega Step Blast (step). For just strength, you can't go wrong in either starting with Maximum Intensity Strength or the PS Series. Both of which offer great strength training and unparalled form pointers.

Just my .02! Get your cc ready for a workout! :)
Best of Luck!

Congrats, sounds like you're doing a great job. Cathe has a wonderful selection of strength and step to choose from. I'll give you some of my favorites starting with Slow/Heavy. This is a 3 tape set with a gym-style feel. She works each muscle very slow and precise and it's an awesome workout. You don't have to lift as heavy as Cathe does, it's certainly something you can grow with. Her Pure Strength set is great also. It's a little more endurance based. Lots of reps with very little rest in between sets.
As for her step, you can get the best of both worlds with her Body Max. It's a step workout with a mix of intervals, some lower body work mixed in with the step and a killer upper body strength section at the end. For just plain all out fun step, Power Max is it. It's one of my all time favorite step tape by Cathe. Great music and fun steps. Her newest step tape, Rhythmic Step is a close second behind Power Max. As you can see, I'm a huge Cathe fan and you can't hardly go wrong with anything by her. Check out www.videofitness.com reviews section and look for some reviews on Cathe videos. That may help you decide too.

Get the 12 pack of DVDs if possible. Incredible. Or CTX. Awesome. Or both. (Hey, you said you wanted to fire up the ol' credit card, right?) Welcome!

I like all of aquajock's recommendations. The one thing I wanted to say is definitely go for the newer tapes/DVDs. 1998 and newer is my recommendation. The older tapes have dated moves, music, hair styles, and clothes. Strictly FYI. If this is important to you, then this is something you might want to think about.

One more thing, go for Cross Train Xpress (DVD preferably) if your credit card is really smoking!

Just wanted to pop in quick and thank you all! I've got an order on the way--MIS and MIC. I'll let you all know how I make out.
Thanks so much!!! I appreciate you taking the time to help me, and I can't wait to get started and chat with you some more.

Yipee!

Good choices, Ginny! Those were 2 of my very first Cathe's. Just you wait. It won't take you long and you'll catch the same "BUG" that we all have around here. (not to mention wanting to fill your video library with all the tapes you don't have yet!!) Have fun and report back soon!
