could I be Inactive?

I workout most mornings with Cathe, do some stuff around the house, have a 45 minute commute to work and sit for another 8 hours, then sit going home.... then the basics at night (making dinner, picking up, laundry etc.)
I was reading an article how different people's lifestyles were and how ACTIVE some are. Now I get a great workout, but then that's it.
If that's a typical day for me, when trying to calculate protien/carb/calories, what standard should I go by? Moderately active?

Was that a study done by a professor that showed if you stand more you'll be thinner? I'm not sure I buy his thesis. I'm at a desk 10 hours a day 5 days a week, but at night & on the w/e I'm always on the go. And I certainly don't want to stand up all day while I type grant applications & talk on the phone to unhappy people.

Yeah you'd either want to say you workout regulary and that is it, or you are somewhere between sedentary and lightly active. A good workout is a great addition when you get stuck sitting all day. But when you sit more then 60% of your waking hours, your not all that active. Most of us don't have a choice, but when you can take a break stretch do some like exercises, as not only will that help impove your activity level, it will also keep your energy up, as the longer we sit and work on things and not really move, the more our energy disappears. So during those potty breaks, water breaks, lunch break etc. Take an extra menute and clasp your hands behind you and pull your triceps back an stretch out your arms and your shoulders. As most people tend to raise their shoulders the more time the spend in front of the computer, so they are usually in that mid way stage of hold them up and nearly at their ears. You want to release that tension as much as possible, as it's an energy lech. Do try to be more active on weekends, I know that's not always possible depending on hubby, and what he wants to do. But to at least make and effort, as that's about as good as you can do, as things do come up and plans are ruined.

Is it at all an option for you to fit in a 15-20 minute walk during your lunch time? Or use that time to walk up stairs if you are in a large, as in tall, building?

And what about when you get home in the evenings...is taking a brisk walk outdoors or on a treadmill an option?

I found a table in Shape magazine this month in an article about calculating calorie expenditure. I can't seem to fing the mag but my recollection was that if you worked out 3-5 days /week for an hour/workout and didn't do much else that was considered moderately active. I work out about 6 days/week and workout for 60-90 minutes/workout. I assumed that was between moderately active and the most active listing they had.
