CoNtRoL the DaMaGe in Sep!

lunch workout done!

Heavy weights done! woot woot .. and eeouch! GEESH my legs were HEAVY~~~~~~ but it hurt so good - and tonight we are gonna meet and do the next XFACTOR (sounds like gameshow huh) .. and I just led my first "stretch it" work session .. didnt take long but the girls said they needed it .. made them wake up a bit and helped w/the tight shoulders that comes along w/the stress and computer work of our job :D:D gotta remember to keep doing it tho!! :p

WOOOHOO Wendy .. yes I think that will be a good program for you .. and dont forget after completion to remember to put your first certification down on applications also.. and just keep up w/continuing education classes to keep your PT certf year after year!!! I would check into what they accept to keep your certf. current year after year .. most all of the national certifications welcome different classes .. but I usually wouldnt pay for them unless I knew for sure they counted as cont. ed. credits!

I WOULD LOOOOOOVE for Cathe to hold some classes ... I have taken classes from Gin Miller - Petra Kobler - Joy Prouty .. but WOULD LOOOOVE to take and learn from Cathe and of course BOB!!!! would be awesome for Cathe to come to ATLANTA ..:D

Laura:: I can't believe you did heavy leg training and will do X-Factor on top of it! You and Lori definitely are neck in neck for doing some crazy work outs though Miss Di has been known to work out 3x in a day herself! Guess I'm the only SANE one in the group! ;):p LOL The organization I am certifying with has a bunch of options on their website for earning CEU's. The community college itself has fitness/nutrition courses that are not tied into the cert but maybe they would count towards CEU's as well. Some of them sound interesting so I might ask down the line! Right before I found out that the college has an actual certification course I was looking at those other courses wondering if taking any/all of them would benefit me anyway! Heck, even if they don't count towards my cert. I might just take some of them for "fun" some day! :D What I thought was very cool and lent to the credibility of the certifying organization is that apparently the course I am taking qualifies as a course to earn ceu's for nurses!!! They don't refer to them as ceu's in the nursing field but it's the same idea! :)

Good Morning:)

I went to bed a lot earlier last night. DH had a lot of work to do and I was falling a sleep on the couch anyway.

I'm not sure what today's workout will be yet. My mom is coming for a couple of days, I think. So part of me would like to wait and run later today....but another side of me would like to get my workout over with. Im leaning towards something in the ctx series.

I have the real estate agent coming by this afternoon too to tell me what she thinks I should ask for the house. Im thinking the 350 range, DH thinks more maybe.

Wendy** my course was a funny one. The first part of it was with whatever school I found online. I received everything in the mail bit by bit, whenever I finished one online exam another set of books would be shipped. When I finished all of that I had a massive book sent to me by national fitness council in fl. Most of the chapters in the book, we're just like the books I had read prior....just more complicated. Then I had to go into the city and do the final at the university. When I received my last book from NFC, I logged into their website. If I had known there was such a website, the course would have cost me a lot less cause I could have bypassed the beginning of my course all together:confused:. I could have bought the course from NFC for about $500. I think my cert is good for 2 yrs, although I totally feel like I need a refresher now. I was starring at the books for so long...while I was pregnant nonetheless! I kind of lost interest when I couldn't workout and looked like a whale:eek:. Now I just need to find the time to open those books and re read some stuff. I have a feeling I will find it a lot more interesting now. When does your course start? I use to charge people $25/hr but I'm not sure what the average pt gets paid. I'm sure it's more in the city! Oh and I didn't plan to do all of CF, I started out thinking I'd just do the first two sections but I just kept going:D

Laura** how are those legs today? I hate the feeling of heavy legs, esp when I am trying to use them to run:confused:. And if I go for a evening run they always feel heavy. What's xfactor? It might not be a game show but it's def a singing competition that comes on tonight!

There was a note in DS's school bag yesterday from his teacher saying that he cut his hair in class:eek:. I couldnt help but laugh. She said that she didn't see him do it but there was hair on his desk and scissors in his hands...lol..dead give away! I'm just glad it wasn't a little girls pony tail!

I will bbl to report my workout!

Lori:)

Good Morning Girls. :)

I was so excited/nervous about the PT course I signed up for that I got up to pee just before 4am and couldn't fall back to sleep b/c my mind was racing so I just laid there until 5:40 when DH got up. Ofcourse towards the end I DID start to doze but I can always nap later. ;)

Well my azz hurts as predicted but I'm not in as "bad" of shape as I had thought I would be so Insanity should be doable today! :)

My SIL called y'day to find out if/when I was going back up there. I wonder if she thinks she scared me off with that TRX class! LOL So I am going back up there tonight to watch her train for 3 hours. I'm not planning on working out but will go dressed just incase. The second time I went to observe I wasn't dressed to work out and as it turns out she could've used me to fill a gap in the circuit routine she had planned out when one of her clients was late. She ended up having to revamp the entire routine instead!

Lori:: LOL - so funny about DS cutting his hair in school! Atleast he didn't get gum stuck in it! :p Wow, that's strange! I wonder why you had to basically re-learn all the same stuff?? So what's the name of organization that certified you then? I don't blame you for not being motivated to study for your certification while pregnant. I wouldn't have been either. I have never heard of the organization I am going to be certing with but from everything I read last night it's the way to go! It's the only organization of it's kind in the way they do things and what they require for successful certification. If I pass this course it should definitely bolster my confidence which will be a huge help when I have to look for a job! The internship will also be great "practice" for that. It's not just handed to me either-I have to interview for an intern position! My mom asked if it was a paid internship. I didn't know b/c it wasn't specified but I was watching something on youtube and apparently it's up to the facility that you are doing your internship with as to wether they want to pay you or not. I'll have to remember to tell my mom that.

Ok, time for more coffee! BBL!

Good Morning Ladies,

This morning is another BR. Not sure if any of you have checked out their site lately, but the last few w/o's are done so that you can work out with them so it's really nice. They are also mish moshes of the other workouts they've done. I know I wasn't a fan of Lisa at first but I really like her now....and now they have more "hosts" so I don't see her as much. By the way, you should check out the latest ZWOW's, Zuzanna looks amazing! You can really see how she's changed from ZWOW#1 to now.

Last night while I was in the basement doing laundry, I decided to do one of the ZWOW's I wrote down. It was pretty tough but I'm glad I did it.

Have to be to work early again and have a full day of meetings ahead of me. Parent/Teacher conferences are this afternoon and ViPR class tonight. I don't really like being so busy, but I guess it's better than being bored.

Wendy-I checked out your link and it looks great. WITS has a ton of great reviews too. Then I decided to see if it was offered in my area, it is but it's online only...UGH. I would do so much better in a class setting. It's hard to prioritize and do homework for an online class. Enjoy "shadowing" your SIL tonight!

Laura-glad you got your leg training in...and XFactor too!! I'm going to back off the heavy leg training for a few weeks and just do plyo. I have plenty of muscle in my legs, just need to lean out a lot...not sure how possible that is with my bodytype though. I'm also going to focus on lifting the glutes with Loving Fit's challenge. Lower body will always be my problem area, but a girls got to try! I saw the XFactor w/o's at Walmart, I may cave soon.

Lori-so happy DH passed everything! Definitely no deals when selling your house, you need as much as possible to put down on the next house. Hope the value comes back where you need it to be. Too funny about DS cutting his hair....at least it wasn't anyone elses. When I was a little girl, my mom & grandma curled my hair in ringlets, apparently I didn't like them and cut them all off. I went from having beautiful long red hair to a pixie, my mother was pissed!

Time for BR! bbl8r

WED - hump day

MOrning Ladies!

between heavy weights and XFACTOR .. EEEOUCH .. DOMS .. mainly CORE .. but my back, bis, shoulders, and a bit into my legs are kinda sore today!!! CORE is REAL sore!! but fun workout!!! today the temps are cooler - the air is crisper!! :D:D:D yes .. hoping the blister spot has healed enough and my legs are not too sore .. gonna go for a gorgeous run outdoors today :D:D I wont know what to do running in cooler weather!! :p just hoping my blisters cooperate .. have band aides .. mole skin .. and maybe new shoes coming today!! :p hope to have a SUPER run!

Lori - XFACTOR .. is a weider program - can get it at Walmart for $30 .. 8 weeks of programs - and 4 bonus DVDs .. I got it on roll back for $24 .. .. THE BEST program for that money .. me and SIL are highly impressed!! I bought it b/c of reviews on the boards .. was not expecting much .. but WOW .. was surprised! .. now it is not a workout I would do alone or for a hard workout .. it is great total body workut - you will sweat .. and muscles will burn .. perfect as an add on workout .. or easier day workout! .. he uses your body weight alternates between plyo, core, cardio, upper body and lower body! it is a GREAT program for that little bit of money ..

DI - I had laid off the weights .. and DONT like it .. so I am getting back to the weights .. my legs are long and leaner .. but w/o weights have lost some definition .. and I like the way heavier weights make them look .. I need to get back to combo workouts to get ready for XTRAIN!

Wendy - when do you start the course??? I am excited for you .. think this is excellent decision for you - you are our own little enegizer bunny .. and time to spread your energy and enthusiasm to others!!!

OK .. better run .. have a great day .. hoping my shoes come in .. got some new Mizunos - NEON PINK this time .. my old ones were NEON YELLOW .. everyone stares at my feet when I run .. :p:p but I dont care .. dont know why this style is only in NEON colors .. but hey .. i love them .. soooooo IDC!!! LOL

Hello. I'm back.

My work out is done. Insanity Power Cardio & Resistance and 40 minutes of yoga are done! :) Already showered, dressed and had lunch. Just going to have a cup of coffee and then it's off to the foodstore with me...

So I have this TRX "scheduled" for tmrw and I am just realizing that I am ALREADY overdue for a rest day!!! Today was my 7th straight day of work outs! I really wanna give the class a go tho so as long as I feel ok I am still gonna do it! I can always rest on Friday right? :p

Diana:: I've noticed that BR has switched to "real time" work outs. I am so used to the old way of doing things that I've never tried real time. TBH, watching it on a small computer screen would annoy me. I think the only way I would do them real time is if I hooked the computer up to the tv so I could watch it on a bigger screen. I haven't check out Z lately but you see the changes in her very quickly! Heck, it's not like she ever looked bad anyway! She just wasn't as ripped when ZWOW started. I wouldn't mind looking like either version of her any day! ;) I think the online option for getting W.I.T.S. certified still entails practical training at a local gym/facility in your area. Even just that being live is so much better then what everyone else offers! Busy day for you today! Me too but just because I have to leave here around 3:30 to head up to my SIL's and won't get home til about 9 or so. By then it'll be time for bed!

Laura:: Neon running shoes are very cool in my book!:D Someone on the boards once posted a link to a pair of crosstrainers that were "rainbow" colored! They looked awesome! I should have saved the link b/c a couple weeks later I decided I might want them but could never find them again. :( The classes start in a few weeks - Saturday October 13 is the first one! :D

Ok, that's all for now. BBL or ITAM!

:)

Got my new shoes .. WOOT WOOT!!! and boy oh boy are they ever NEON PINK!! LLOLOLOLOLOL .. no one will miss me in a crowd!! :p:p hoping now they run as good as they are bright .. LOL

Hi Girls:)

The baby is in bed and I'm relaxing for a bit. My mom and neice are here so while she's doing my laundry, Ill check in:D

My workout today was ctx shoul, bic, tri and then I tried Amy bentos all pump shoul, bics and tris. After lunch I went for a 10.5 km run outside. It was sooooo windy! And pushing the stroller made it that much harder.

Wendy** I'm not sure what the idea was behind that course. I guess it's the way they made money! I was going to take a nutrition course after but I figured the same thing would happen. You know what I would like to do...and I'm going to look into it if we move somewhere bigger. Id like to look into the dietician course. They make good money...I'm guessing close to 6 figures a year. I agree with the idea of doing a internship, totally makes sense. I was going to go shadow a guy I grew up with for a while but that went out the window when I found out I was with child!

Laura** and I thought my sneakers were bright! They aren't neon pink though! They match some of my lulu outfits perfectly! ;) I've never seen those workouts at Walmart. I think I'm done buying new workouts for a bit. I have some new ones to try now :). And I'm impressing myself cause I'm actually trying them:D

Diana** that's funny! I cut my hair as a child too...I think we all did that. Of course it was on picture day! She left me alone in the bathroom with a pair of scissors...I think I was in grade one. Your day sounds like my days!

The agent came by today, she was going to put some numbers together for me and get back to me. She said there is a house similar to ours just up the st that isn't moving. But there is only 2 bedrooms upstairs and no bathroom off of the master bedroom. She said I wouldn't have any trouble selling this. We will see what happens!

Lori:)

Good Morning:)

Oops on the last post:p.

My mom is here so I am going to run soon and do L&G after lunch.

Nothing new to report here!

Lori:)

Good Morning! :)

So I went back to SIL's last night. I was "dressed" but had no intention of working out. I was there to observe. Well ofcourse she gets last minute cancellations for a class she had created for 6 people. Now she only has 3 participants so she asked me to do the class b/c 4 will be easier to make the class work then just 3. So yep, in good ol' Diana style :) I did THREE work outs y'day! It was a 45-60 min circuit class and it kicked my tushy! I am sore sore sore this morning! Me thinks TRX class today would be dumb. I'm disappointed but I don't want to push it and be sorry. YKWIM? What do you all think? Am I right or am I being a big whiner who should suck it up and go to the class today anyway? :p

So while I was panting and dripping sweat last night my cell phone starts to ring! This RARELY happens so I immediately got worried! I didn't pick up in time - it was DH. I talked to him after the class was over and he told me that one of the gyms I applied to called!!!! :D I have to call the woman back this morning!!! I applied for a front desk job (with hopes of training in the future). If they want to hire me I'm not sure how it would work out with the class starting up plus the internship I have to do but I am sure gonna find out! They could always be the ones I intern with I suppose so we'll see! SIL said that this particular gym has a reputation for being cheap when it comes to paying trainers but as a newbie I will deal until I get more experience if I have to.

SIL also said (which I disagree with but I want other opinnions here) that if it were her, and I was offered the job there that she would nix the certification and just go work for the gym and let them send me to get certed and that they should pay half. Well ok, saving some $ on the cert would be nice but the course (IMO) sounds too good to pass up! If it were a standard study at home cert I would agree but not in this case. Plus the fact that just b/c they may SAY they will make me a trainer doesn't necessarily mean that it will actually happen! I would rather get a job with a gym that will schedule me around the hours I have to go to class, etc. SIL also mentioned how much harder the exam will be for this course. Okay, that's scarey but isn't that a GOOD thing? If I pass then I obviously truly know the information I was taught! Passing an open book test doesn't even compare IMO!!! THOUGHTS girls?

Lori:: Whoa whoa whoa! Your mom comes to visit, as a guest in your home, and SHE is doing YOUR laundry!?!?! What the heck is that all about!? It should be the other way around, woman!!!!...Ha ha-Truth is, I'm just jealous! :p But seriously - how'd you get so lucky? ;) I can't complain though. My mom is great. She does a lot for me! :)

Sorry for the novel but alot obviously went on since I was here last!:p BBIAB!

Hi Ladies,

Wow, you girls have been busy....I had a lot to read this morning!

I injured my back yesterday....my own stupid fault....Instead of getting up and picking up the barbell, I pulled it towards me and OUCHIES...my back is screwed up. It wasn't too bad yesterday as I was popping ibuprofen, and it was okay for vipr...but this morning it is really tight and painful. More ibuprofen this morning and I think it will loosen up as the blood gets moving.

I may do a bit of Core Cardio Circuit today. Its the warmup I've been using prior to BR so maybe I'll just stick with that dvd and do as much as I have time for.

Laura-yay for new shoes, mine are neon green, asics I think. Super jealous of you long lean legs....oh well, ya gotta work with what you got. XFactor has some great reviews and the price can't be beat. You need try out ViPR training and let me know what you think.

Wendy-I know you won't believe this, but I think a rest day is warranted.:D Especially after trying a new kick ass w/o with your SIL, getting home late etc. No need to push it. I'm going to look around a bit more and see if I can find a classroom class instead of online. Most gym jobs are part time and will work around your class schedule. If they can help pay for the class that's great, but you already decided to go before they made this offer. Good luck with the gym job! Oh, I actually like the real time w/o's on BR...I don't have to mess with the timer and it's only 12 minutes. It's not like you have to watch it for choreography reasons.

Lori-really, your mom does your laundry....shheeesh...I'm the only one doing laundry at my house. Yeah, I think your spoiled...but I'm sure you deserve it. Besides, having to take care of everything by yourself while DH is in training can be quite stressful. I'm happy you have family around that can help out. Enjoy your run today...our temps are still in mid 80's....I'm looking forward to the 70's before I start running again.

Another all day meeting today...UGH....bbl

I have an interview set up for monday at 1pm with the gym that called me for front desk now and pt after certification is complete! :D

THURS

MOrning Ladies!

LOOOOOVE my new shoes  :D:D:D OMG .. they are lighter - more cushioned - they are cut lower .. so my toes were gripping more .. so I have some adjusting to do w/the laces ... but LOVE them! 5 miles in 53 min - that is including the warm up .. :D:D:D my legs were heavy from hvy weights tho .. and today DOMS: still in bis and tris .. and now HAMMIES!!!! yikes! the blister spot did fine - used a knuckle bandage on it .. but I wore a cheap tank top and now my arms have chaffing   always something .. but I will take chaffing over blisters anyday!!

Lori - sounds like good news on the house .. :) .. and yes ... funny .. I would look at everyones eyes when I met them .. they ALL were looking at my NEON PINK sneakers :p:p:p ..too funny!

Di - my neon shoes are Mizunos .. seems to be the trend w/neon colors .. I dont get it .. but I love these shoes for sure!! LOL

Wendy - CONGRATS on the job interview - now did that mean they are gonna certify you or are you going to go on w/the other certification - I was gonna say see what certification they would certify you thru .. b/c if it is a nondescript one just for them .. I wouldnt do it .. I would go on and go for the good certification .. and they should work around your classes I would think! I know some places have their own certification process not associated w/a national certification - I made that mistake when I first got cerfitified .. I went thru the process .. and that certification was only good for a year and did not take CEDs - you had to recertify every year .. was a waste of my time!
RE: to workout or not ???? hhmmmm .. i say if you were gonna workout anyway .. go ahead and do the class .. IF NOT .. skip it get your rest .. let the body recover ... especially after THREE workouts ystdy .. your body prblly NEEDS to rest!
OK ..so today is YOGA at lunch .. not sure about this afternoon .. maybe another short run . take advantage of this wonderful weather while it is here!!

Hello Again. :)

I've decided to take a rest day. I would be going to the TRX class if not for last night's unexpected third work out but I don't think my body the stress of a TRX work out right now. I guess I'm shooting for next Tuesday now!

I have $10 in Kohl's cash burning a hole in my pocket so I'm going to take a ride there soon. :) That's about the only plan I have for today! I swear, when I don't work out I don't know what to do with myself :p...except for eat!!!

Diana:: I hope your back feels better soon! That sounds painful!:( So are you considering a change in careers with this interest to possibly certify to be a PT or would it be for personal knowledge/benefit? You should ask your Bootcamp instructor for advice on this one! Good job on a tough BR! With a sore back no less!

Laura:: Glad you love your new kicks and great maiden run in them! OMG, I remember the chaffing! Oh how it sucked! Soooo painful!:( Alot of people use bodyglide for that but I found a layer of deoderant to be just as helpful!:p No, it wouldn't be a cert specific to the gym I apply to work for. It would be a regular cert by a known organization that sometimes (as in SIL's case), the gym that hires you for front desk will then chip in $$ for so that you can teach or train for them once you complete the course. That was the route I was ATTEMPTING to take when I emailed/applied at several area gyms but nobody got back to me at all. NOBODY!:( So then knowing I had to get certified regardless, I started looking into it figuring maybe I should just do it on my own while I continue to observe my SIL and try to get a job at gym (front desk, etc.). That's when I found out about W.I.T.S. and decided to go for it! Ofcourse then only days later a gym calls! Murphy's Law!!! When I go in for the interview I will ask them about getting certified for training for them in the future. The woman I talked to on the phone asked me flat out if I wanted to apply to be a personal trainer once certed so I guess they are in the market to hire there as well! I told her I signed up for a cert course but didn't say which one. I am going to ask which one they would prefer...if any in particular. I still like the idea of the live classes, hands on practice of what you just learned and the internship but I would consider a 2nd cert like ACE, etc if necessary or suggested by an employer. Once I pass W.I.T.S. the in home study kind won't bother me b/c I will know I can already do the job in real life! I already passed the AFPA personal training exam so I know I can pass that one or one like it again if need be. Now I suppose if they tell me flat out that the WITS cert is not necessary b/c they will give me the same practical experience on the job (not just throwing me into the job and watching me struggle as a brand new trainer w/no real life experience) then I'll consider it but what worries me is if I were to blow off the WITS cert, go with them, the cert they want and believe the promises and then they don't "deliver". I'll be pist! I have no idea how often the college offers this course! Oh god, sorry for rambling on...I'm just so nervous/excited/scared and confused!!!! You can ignore me if you like. It's okay. I won't take it personally!:p

BBL!

LOL - Wendy

I would NEVER ignore you ...and I am happy you are going for something you LOVE .. and to me would excell at!!! and sounds like you got your ducks in a row and know what to ask and you are covering all bases!! :D .. of course we would expect nothing less from you :D .. and you have the right to be nervous/excited//happy.. dont be scared tho .. b/c YOU GOT THIS .. it is what you love .. and what you are good at!!! Very few of us have the opportunity to do and make a living at what we have a passion for! so you just GO FOR IT baby!!

Hey Girls:)

I enjoyed my run this morning. I did 15 k and that was it for the day. I thought that my mom was going home earlier but she stayed until after dinner. I'm sure that was enough of a workout anyway. It was so nice to go it alone.

Wendy** not only did she do my laundry...she cleaned my floors, moved the fridge and the stove, fed my baby, put him to sleep, let me sleep in...I could keep going. She can't keep still, that's where I get it from. They haven't been gone long and she's calling already. You have a lot going on! Your head must be spinning. It's all very exciting when you think about taking a different route in life! I get a little nervous when I think about what's coming my way! But I'm looking forward to it at the same time.

Diana** how's your back?? All these years lifting weights and you do something silly like that:eek::p. I know I'm spoiled. I make fun of her sometimes and when I go home I say "what do you want me to do for you" cause that's what she ask me all the time.

Laura** glad your enjoying your new kicks!

I will bb in the a.m. I'm probably going to head to bed soon...everyone else has!

Lori:)

Hi Ladies,

Finally Thursday is over...well for work anyway. Still have DS's varsity game to go to. I think DH and I will watch on the computer tonight instead, still undecided. Tomorrow I'm working from home since I have to leave early to get to the JV game....at 4pm. I'm happy they pushed it back an hour, a 3pm game on a workday... in a town an hour away ....is pretty hard for me to get to.

Tomorrow I should be able to do a full workout :), leaning towards HSTA or the original bootcamp....something that incorporates both cardio & lifting. My back is feeling better but I'm on a regime of 800mg ibuprofen throughout the day.

Laura-sounds like you need more lulu!!! I was actually on their website today looking at capri's. At some point I may be able to splurge on 1 pr. so I can see what all the hype is about. $80-$100 is alot IMO for something I'm just going to sweat in. For my home workouts I wear nike/danskin bike shorts, C9 jog bras and wifebeaters that I buy in packs. I do have nicer Fila/Nike/Danskin wear for the rec ctr. I promise soon I'll be reporting some running action. I'm a fair weather runner...needs to be in the 70's for me.

Lori-glad you were able to get your run in today...sans baby stroller. You probably felt like you were flying...and you probably were!!! Hope you get good news on the home price. This house was our second home purchase, but I don't really enjoy going through the process. We won't have the same concerns with our next house...what kind of schools, kid friendly neighborhood etc. We have a few years before we have to worry about that.

Wendy-I would never ignore you...we are here for each other no matter what the circumstance. I think the path you're on with the WITS cert is the way to go. If the gym can help subsidize...all the better. I know my rec ctr had all their trainers get the ACE certification several years ago. Once they added the Les Mills programs (bodystep, bodyvive, bodypump), the trainers had to get Les Mills certified too. I would love to teach, probably group teaching is right up my alley and then personal training. It would have to be a second job for me as we couldn't get by on that alone. Most of the trainers have at least 2 jobs, some have 3 or more. One of them is a lawyer and she teaches the early morning classes. My favorite trainer also works in sewing shop and she and her husband have a business together.

I need to get off this computer and do something productive.....but I really need to check FB....LOL...
