CoNtRoL the DaMaGe in Sep!

Hi Ladies,

I've been weighing myself every couple of days or so, but I'm up 3lb since Friday.:mad: It must be water since I haven't eaten too bad. We did go out to dinner Saturday but I stuck to salmon and veggies and tons of water. I was already up about 3lbs from vacation, and now this....not a happy camper. I've been taking my salads for lunch and have been eating pretty healthy. Guess I need to cut out the chocolate...oh my. I thought I did pretty good....made brownies for the football crowd last night and I only had 1 bite, not 1 brownie, just 1 bite.

Today is Insanity CPR and weights at lunch, legs it will be. Chest work really bothers my shoulder so that body part is being skipped for another week. I'm thinking about running stairs after my ViPR class on Wednesdays.:D

Lori-sometimes you just have to go with the flow. Sorry you didn't get your run in yesterday, just too many variables. yay, Stephen is mobile! My last months water bill was $108, but it drops to around $50 in the winter months. I'm sure you pay for it somehow. Do you have a homeowners associatee fee? In most cases that covers water & trash. As good as a years mat. leave sounds, I'm not sure I would want to go back to work after having that long off.

Wendy-Big thanks to you girl! I used your recipes for our dinner last night and my oldest son said "this is the best dinner you've ever made, ever"! I didn't make the corn, and I used quinoa instead of rice and it was delicious. Other than me, my family doesn't really care for chicken but I usually make a chicken dish on my work from home day each week. They tend to like it more in mexican dishes.

Okay so my yoga only week starts today. Wish me luck! ;)

Thought my abs would be on fire today from BM's ab work y'day but they aren't. Go figure! :confused:

Glad your family liked the recipes, Diana. Mine thought they were delicious as well! The corn was fantastic, btw. You really should try it one day! I used couscous instead of rice for that recipe and it was also very good. I have quinoa but couscous cooks faster! :p My weight is up too since vacation. I was getting close to losing it all but then the AC trip came along and it went right back up. UGH. I got on the scale this morning and it's gone down a bit again but I'm still 2.5# up from where I was when I left on the cruise. Booh. :(

Lori, Your parents go to Church TWO TIMES every Sunday?? Really?? I've never heard of that! My BIL and sister are very religious and will go to multiple Masses a week if called for but even they only go to one Mass on Sundays!

Hey Girls

Enjoying some nice quiet time. The baby is still here but the house is kid free

My workout was GS UB (ex back) and 13k outside. When my parent arrived I was ready to go. It's windy but I had a good run.

Diana** it gets confusing when the scale goes up and your doing everything right. I usually get mad when the scale goes up and I've had 5 brownies....not 1 bite:rolleyes:....so I can only imagine how ticket you are. Nope...we don't pay any home associates fee either..lol...just that stupid town bill. This conversations keeps reminding me of that, let's change the suggest:p. Its hard to go back after having such a long time off but it's harder on the baby then anyone else. I'm hoping we will either stay here so I can go back to my old job and my old sitter. Or move some where where I don't have to work right now.

Wendy** i feel the same way with Kari Anderson abs. I use to always be sore after that one but not anymore. I may be sore tomorrow though from all those pushups in GS chest, that usually does it. Oh as kids we had to go to church 3 xs on Sundays cause Sunday school was in the afternoon. I was rotted cause I would miss most of the top 40! Couldn't record it on my tape recorder! Then we would have to go back to church at 7 and could be there for HOURS! I mean getting out at 11-12 at night and having to go to school the next day. I wonder how many naps I had in church?

I may bbl. I should go get myself a coffee!

monday .. ugh

Hey Ladies ..

wow whatta morning - it has been sooo busy and hectic! - DH took me shopping FRI ..then out to eat . he got some stuff for my b-day - had some good deals! SAT was a REST day - had early AU ballgame so CABS started early! :eek: and let me say ... WE SUCK this year :( :mad::mad: OMG .. I dont know if there is any hope of getting it together - this is gonna be a loooooooong footbal season!! we were a MESS sat!! ugh :mad: SUN I went for a 5 1/2 mile run .. the cooler temps moved in .. and the run was awesome!! it was 58 this morning :eek: :D:D highs to be in low to mid 80's then lows around 63 ALL WEEK .. woot woot!! :D

Lori - you do look smaller in your pics . . but you have been poudning out some awesome workouts ... and speaking of ... AB THEN a run ???? :eek: you have lost your mind! My legs wouldnt be able to manage a small jog or walk much less a run after AB!!!!:confused:

Wendy - when I taught - I taught 4 nights a week - all different classes .. once you come up w/a routine and get the music down .. you will remember them!! you can always start off w/cheat sheets!!! hey - why not have the 2 certifications .. you can PT AND do group exercise classes!

re: my teaching again - I just have too much on my plate right now - and w/current events that have happened .. I just dont see me teaching again in the near future :( but I LOVED teaching and LOVED motivating people!!

Di - booo on the weight gain - but sometimes what we do and eat one week wont reflect on the scale till the next .. so maybe next week the clean eating will show on the scales!!

OK .. better run ... SIL couldnt meet tonight - so I am gonna take advantage of our awesome weather and go for a run - prlby will be a shorter run since ystdy was longer - and kinda tuff more hills .. and had to watch my footing for rocks and holes and snakes ... tmrw will prbly be a CATHE killer workout!! Ok .. better run .. have a great one!
 
Good Morning:)

Well...back to taking care of kids today:confused:. They cancelled school b/c of the storm, which right now, doesnt seem any worse then a heavy rainfall. I'm guessing the wind hasn't kicked into high gear yet. This is the first time in my life I remember school being cancelled for this kind of weather. Snowstorms...all the time....rain...never!

I am sooooo sore from GS yesterday. I guess it's been a while since I did it...ouch,ouch,ouch!!! My chest was sore yesterday evening so I knew I was in for it. This kind of makes me realize that I think this rotation I have been struggling with should incorporate GS and CTX. I just don't have ctx yet, I think it should arrive this week though. Today is gonna be cardio, GS legs and back. I'm not sure what kind of cardio, i usually start out on the tm and then go from there.

Laura** The way I do AB and a run is I start out with 20 mins on the tm, then I do 5 mins runs after every 8 exercises...which would make another 20 mins on the tm. So I don't actually run 40 mins straight which is probably easier I would think. I don't think I am smaller, I just think everyone was use to seeing me pregnant, then carrying around extra weight for a few months that they forgot how small I was before. I had 10 lbs to go and everyone thought I already had my weight gone. I'm fitting into my old jeans so I have to be the same. But I did take my measurements the other day and I can't remember what my hips were before. I know my waist still isn't as small but I think my hips may be up to a inch smaller. But that makes sense cause Ive been complaining that my butt disappeared. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend with DH. I don't watch football at all.....actually, I don't watch any sports but all of my singing competitions are back on. The voice last night and xfactor starts tonight:eek:. Plus I have recorded shows that I need to catch up on. I usually save them for the weekends

Ok...so today is midterm day!!!!!!!! He starts at 7:45, which is 11:15 here and 9:45 in Wendy's neck of the woods, not sure about everyone else's. He has two hours to do it, he feels good about it so let's keep our fingers crossed!!!

Hi Ladies,

Not sure what's up with the scale, but I weighed this morning and am down 3.8lbs from yesterday morning. :D I don't even think that is possible, but I'm not complaining. That puts only a couple lbs to go to get where I was pre vacation. Pre vacation my weight was really close to a threshold I have'ng been able to get under. I think it was from all the tri training, just shocking the body in another way.

My legs are sore today from heavy legs at the gym. I didn't go too terribly heavy since the last time I felt dizzy and light headed. Still working my up to what my previous weights. 4X12 of:
Leg Curls 75#
Leg Extensions #100
Squats #95 used to be 115
Lunges #75 used to be 95
Other exercises were roll-in and inner thigh squeezes on the ball, hip tucks and leg lifts on the ball. Finished off with some weighted abs.

Today is Pure Cardio am, and chest/triceps at lunch. We'll have to see about the chest work. Just holding the barbell on my upper back was hurting the front of my shoulder. Wish I knew what would make this injury heal.

Laura-I like your thoughts on the weight, maybe it will be down even further in another week!:p Football season is upon us, DH pretty much only watches Pro but tries to keep up with our local colleges too.

Lori-hope you miss out on the brunt of the storm. I'm always sore from the GS w/o's too, C&T especially. This is something he really wants to do, he'll do great on his mid terms.

Hey .. I went for a run ystdy after work - 5 miles 58 minutes - the weather was nice .. but the p-nut dryers were blowing and now my ear is ringing and nose is stuffed up ggggrrrrrrr ... but the run was awesome ... except for the luv bugs .. man we are swamped w/them! ugh .. hoping today will be maybe heavy weights .. or a weighted CATHE ..

Lori - ok .. nope .. AB and even the broken runs sounds hard to me!! LOL .. I LOVE the VOICE .. it started last night .. I dont watch Xfactor ... I am also a Survivor junkie!! :p ok .. by midterm .. are we talking about your hubby???? sending passing vibes!

Di - woot woot on the weight LOSS now .. wow .. that is odd!!! gotta be just water weight from soemething you ate then!! wow that is some heavy poundage you are lifting.. you and Lori making me feel like uber wimp!! :eek: LOL

I did Yoga X this morning ALMOST in full. The only thing I skipped was the yoga belly 7 moves so that's close enough, right? ;)

Laura:: Great run!!! Okay, I have to ask - what are p-nut dryers and luvbugs??? Thanks so much for the feedback on teaching classes! I've inquired/applied to a couple more gyms. Fingers crossed!

Lori:: No school over rain??? :confused: I recall as a kid having school cancelled over a hurricane but not just regular old rain. That's wierd! Maybe the principal didn't feel like going in today! :p LOL Wow - your stories about going to Church keep getting crazier! That's nuts! :eek: My mom made us go through CCD to get our sacraments but never took us to Church. Go figure. :rolleyes: Not that I am complaining, mind you! :D

Diana:: Nice leg work out yesterday! How'd you enjoy Pure Cardio today? You are making me consider adding a little Insanity to my life at some point in the near future! :eek:
 
Hey Girls

I was wrong...no kids, just my own. My bil ended up coming home b/c of this so called storm. I think we have the best of it. It's the other areas that are getting hit hard by leslie.

Today's workout was 20 mins on the tm, 30/30 and the fitness blast and tabata section of crossfire...then GS legs. Oh and GS back, which already appears to be sore from something I did yesterday:confused:. Couldn't do the ball work in GS legs though cause I still don't have a ball.

DH just text a little while ago and said the exam went well and that he would get his marks by lunch time. It's around 10:30 there now so in a couple of hours he should know.

Diana** is your scale a digital one cause it might need new batteries. Or maybe you were holding on to some water weight. I know I was last night for some reason. My hands felt swollen and it was really warm in the house. That's some impressive leg work! That's so true that if DH wants this he will do it...I have no doubt. They also know who cares and who doesn't.

Wendy** hmmm...I don't know if you should be cheating during your yoga week:p. I was thinking about doing some yoga this afternoon when the baby goes for his nap...stay tuned! Yeah my parents wonder why none of us go to church anymore. It's like eating to much of your favorite food...exp church wasn't our favorite place to be! Lol

Laura** Nice run yesterday. I just received my new tank...I think you would like it. It's kind of flowy. I have to try it on with a sports bra cause It might be a little to flowy for me. I love xfactor too. Britanny spears is a judge this year. Apparently she's nasty! I don't picture her as the mean type.

Bbl...I need a coffee but I'm kind of holding off for a bit!

Wendy .. :eek: ya'll dont get luv bugs up there??? WOW!!! they are small black bugs that invade in swarms .. not hardshell bugs .. soft spattery ones .. they dont bite .. but man they are EVERYWHERE .. sooooo aggravating .. you cant see out of your windshield if you go very far .. they call them LUV bugs b/c they are always MATING .. so when you run into them .. they are "stuck together" in pairs mating :confused::confused: :eek::eek::eek: I think Isaac blew them in .. b/c they are early this year!! and P-nut dryers .. are huge cylinder dryers - when the peanuts are harvested they pour them in these "dryers" to dry the nut out to sell .. I mean the dryers are huge silo's ... and loud and they blow the peanut dust and allergins into the surrounding air! UGH .. and for those of us w/allergies .. it fires up the allergies!!!! Especially on a run where you are really breathing that crap in!!!

Lori - keeping my fingers crossed for DH exam going good!! :) I got my new email from lulu .. they have a new short I am thinking about getting! "run bright at night" shorts .. they look comfy .. and love the waist band!! hope the storm stays away from you .. although it cant be that strong in those cold waters right??
 
Laura:: IDK what those bugs are that you describe but if I see something that seems to fit your description around here I will let you know! ;) LOL The peanut drying thing sounds crazy! Peanut allergies can be extremely deadly which makes what they do scarey and IMO, it shouldn't be allowed!:confused: WOW! :eek:

Lori:: Okay wise guy. If you think that you can do better then my yoga session today just go ahead and try!!!:p You don't have a stability ball?? Really?? :eek: That's one piece of (inexpensive) equipment that I have had forever!!! GO GET ONE RIGHT NOW MISSY! ;)
 
Good Morning

Maybe I shouldn't have complained about the baby waking at 6:48....cause today it was 5:44 and then I couldn't get back to sleep. Normally I will nurse him back to sleep but I just lay there with my eyes open. I was thinking we would go for a run this afternoon but a nap might be in order!

I'm not sure what I will do today. I was thinking a run outside but the baby is up early enough for me to get my cardio in here. I may do shoulders,bics and abs again. I also received three workouts in the mail yesterday....maybe I will try one of those.

DH called last night (while I was out for a walk with his mother!) to tell me that he was two marks away from passing his exam. He was upset, I wasnt thrilled and here I am trying not to let her know that something is wrong. There were six of them who have to take it over. He kept telling me to not worry about it and that the support is there for him. His instructors have set up study classes for him/them and they said they will make sure he passes. But I still can't relax. I won't until he does the re write and passes it. I know he was only one question away...but still. It just seems like I always have crap on my mind. I hate that I have turned this into something about "me" but I can't help it. I should feel bad for him b/c he's under a lot of pressure/stress and he's also away from us and I do. But when things happen I guess I just think about the what ifs. All of our eggs are in the one basket here.He tells me not to worry and that everything will be ok but I think I've just heard it to many times over the years. Unless someone can look into their glass ball and see the future, then I can't relax.
As coo coo as my mom can be , she has a way about her that can make you feel better. Always looking on the bright side and always positive. And his mother is kind of the opposite. She will ask all of the same questions I'm asking "what if this...what if that..." and that doesn't make me feel any better so I'd rather her not know for now.

Laura** glad we don't have luv bugs around here! It's all bad enough! There is a walking trail behind our house and there are usually swarms of flies on the board walk. It's bad b/c we walk right through them, without noticing and the next thing you know...your choking on them. But I don't think they bite either cause they don't chase us.

Wendy** I had two balls....probably more then that really. But recently I had two and DS poked a hole in both of them! The girls use to always play with them on their lunch break which was annoying cause there were two balls, three kids so you know how that went. I hid them away but at some point in time DS got his grimy little hands on them, took them outside (which I shouldnt have allowed) and some how poked something in both of them. I shouldn't have let him have them. And everytime I go to Walmart I forget to get one. I didn't use it that much. I didn't enjoy using it for bics...I'd rather do those standing, but I did use it for AB work. Oh...and I didn't beat you on the yoga!:eek: shocking I know!

I think that's about it. Almost time for coffee #2!

Hi Ladies,

Kind of being a bit lazy this morning and am not sure what w/o I will do. I didn't make it to the gym yesterday for C&T, but I can easily do GS C&T today...except for my shoulder pain. Definitely need to do the pushups and maybe drop my weight for presses and flyes. I've been using 30's for the chest press and 25's for the flyes. Lifting that heavy weight has not increase these A's at all, go figure.:p

I came home early to get an estimate on some cement work we need done. We can have some mudjacking (lifting the concrete where it has sunk, in our case not too much). What I didn't know is that's all they do, they don't fix the top or where it's crumbling so it still looks bad. Well I want it to look good too, duh. Fortunately this guy gave us several options, mudjacking with an overcoat (done by someone else) but it looks brand new and will last 10-15 years, or just a coating that will last 3-5 years. If we were moving in the next 5 years I would do the cheaper. DH and I will discuss our options soon, but probably go with the more expensive and longer lasting.

Lori-Oh my, bet DH was very disappointed. It sounds like he and his instructors have a plan to help him pass. I'm sure it is very stressful situation for both of you. He has his family depending on him, but lets not forget how determined he is too. I use my stability ball all the time, can't imagine not having one. DS3 has popped a couple of them....he sits on them when playing the PS whatever:p and he has buy new ones for me when that happens.

Wendy-you don't have to worry about me trying to keep up with your Yoga Week!;) Is the stretching section in Insanity considered yoga or yogalite??? If so, I'm getting in my 7 minutes 3-5 times per week! They have some beginning yoga dvd's at my local store for $9.99, but I figure I should try Bob Harpers that I already own first.

Laura-we don't have luvbugs or peanut dryers....now that you've given us the lowdown, I'm glad we don't! I am pretty strong, but still carry around more bodyfat than I would like. I'm healthy and strong so I can't complain too much.

MOrning ladies ..

Well ystdy - I was going to do heavy weights at the CC - well the damned traffic was backed up to H## and back on main road (due to road paving) .. you couldnt get anywhere in this town .. getting to CC was OUT .. so I went the other direction and did a run .. short run .. 3.5 miles - 28 minutes .. it felt AWESOME to do a shorter run .. i felt strong .. I dont like running day after day .. back to back .. but ystdy I felt good .. except I have ran a huge blister on my left foot :mad:

Lori - I KNOW EXACTLY how you feel - girl I can sympathize - and you can tell us your worries here .. and have our support .. IT WILL BE OK .. and it does sound like he has a plan to pass the next try .. but I know you cant help but feel .. WHAT NEXT .. CRAP!!!!! .. GMAFB!!!!!! I completly understand!!! ... but when you talk to your DH try to prop him up .. b/c like Di said .. I know he has a LOT of pressure on him too ... (dajuvu talking here) .. how many times does he get a chance to re-test?? and how soon??? {{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}}

Di - I go today and get my yrly blood results :confused: I am kinda worried b/c of all the partying and eating out I have been doing .. :confused::confused: may have to ask for a RETEST myself .. and get my eats back in order ... :eek:

Wendy .. the bugs are a PIA for sure! The p-nut dryers dont actually billow the pnut dust everywhere .. but you can smell it when running next to them for sure .. and it stops me up big time!!!!

Well my numbers are good .. WHEW!!!! I was thinking I was gonna blow it this year .. the scale wasnt kind tho! but I havent gained as much as I was thinking I have .. 4# .. but gotta get it off ... now that most of my vaca is over I can clean up the eats and get that off!!:)
 
Hi Girls

I just got back from a run. I did one of my new workouts this morning...or at least some of it. I tried Amy bentos drop sets but just the arm work and abs...which I didn't feel at all:confused:. Shoulder and bic work was the hardest. Then I starred at the DVDs for a while,debating if I should do cardio, then nap this afternoon....but then the sun started to shine and I opted to run this afternoon. Just did 10k...it's windy but it was nice to run and clear my head. I feel better now.

Diana** I guess you could see if either one of it will help with the value of your house if your thinking of selling. I'm getting someone to come in soon to figure out how much we should ask for our home. DH tells me to go ahead as we had previously planned..so thats what I do. Your lifting heavier then me...and I thought I was strong:eek: Maybe I'm a wimp! I can usually use 30's for chest and 25's for flies but sometimes I have to drop for the last set. I also did all of the pushups on my toes the other day, it's the first time since having the baby I did them all.

Laura** 4 lbs :eek:. What's wrong with you people??? :p;). No trouble to tell I am the only one who hasn't been on a vacation! Not that I don't need one....I feel bad for not being supportive for DH. I didn't say anything that he needed to hear...shame on me. I always need time to think. I didn't say anything mean either...I basically didn't say much. He just kept going on and on and I listened. He does hie rewrite on monday! He said the there were a few members in the troop ahead of him that didn't pass, they helped them and they all passed....I'll go with that.

Alright...I may bbl. I registered DS for gymnastics so I have to go and drop a check off for that when the kids come home from school. I may check back In again tonight to see what boring yoga workout Wendy did:p

Nothing new to report. I had a good sleep. I don't go to bed early enough but I sleep well when I do.

I'm not sure what my workout will be today. It's another sunny day so a run would be nice again this afternoon but I'm thinking about getting the baby weighed and I am invited to a friends house for dinner and I need to make dessert for that....which I need the things for.

Good Morning Girls.

Sorry for being MIA y'day but I was gone most of the day and all night plus I didn't work out so I had nothing to report anyway. :eek: Y'day morning I left the house at 9:15 to go up to my mom's house. We went shopping and out to lunch. Came home, had an hour to chill and/or do housework before it was time to pick DS up from school. When we got home I was really tired for some reason so I took a short nap until DH got home and then it was time to head back up to my SIL's to observe more training and a class that she teaches. She stopped working around 8 but then we bs'd til after midnight! I didn't get home til after 1am. :eek: I am sooooooo tired this morning! :(:(:( A nap is definitely in the cards for me today!!!

Tmrw morning I am heading back up to SIL's as soon as I drop DS at school but this time it's to work out (shhhh, don't tell anyone-I am only supposed to be doing yoga still!:p). She is running a class that I watched on Monday night so tmrw morning I will actually do it! Can't wait! It's actually frustrating for me to sit n watch people exercise and not do it. Kinda like previewing a new video! LOL The class goes back n forth between kettlebell and the trx so I'll get a little practice using the TRX before I take the classes w/ my groupon (which I need to start doing soon!:eek:).

Between my DH, myself and my SIL we have come up with a few ideas to hopefully help me break into a career in fitness. They pretty much all scare the cr@p outta me but one but ya gotta do what ya gotta do! :eek:

1) make a list of all of the gyms in my area (within a 10 miles radius of my home maybe) and take a day to visit each one in person-ask for an application and "sell" myself to try and get any kind of job that I can (except for childcare!!!!:eek:) in order to get my foot in the door. My SIL suggested even if they aren't actively hiring to offer to just help out (for free) a couple hours a week to gain some experience and if they like me that will motivate them to hire me when they need someone.

2) Create and film a work out to post on youtube and see how it is received. Next Zuzanna perhaps? ;) I could even give the link to potential employers to view!

3) Put together an outdoor bootcamp class, advertise it and run it in a park.

4) Get my girlfriend (who I've already trained) and atleast one other person to go up to my SIL's with me and do a class or a group training there for practice. My SIL has enough space for up to 6 or 7 people to work out at once depending on the type of exercises you are doing. I, OTOH, barely have room for myself. :eek: I trained my GF here but it was tight.

That's my "to do" list! I THINK that's everything! Scarey, huh? :eek: Yeah - I'm a little intimidated but I gotta atleast give it a shot, right? :confused:

Ok, sorry so long...off to eat and get my yoga done so I can sleep the rest of the day! :p

Good Morning Ladies,

We did circuit training with the ViPR last night. The cardio segments consisted of 1 min on either a treadmill (incline 7 and 5.5+ MPH), elliptical (inlcine 10, level 10) or rower (goal of 300). The ViPR segments were Burpee w/ OH press, deadlift clean & press, squat jumps, chest press, ball slams. We just went through the circuit for the entire class. I was a sweaty mess. Then I ran 10 sets of stairs when we're done!:D

I'll have to check the Insanity calendar, not sure if its PCC or CPR today. Either way it'll be great. The last part of pure cardio is still tough for me, still taking a few breaks in there.:mad: I'm getting better at PCC and CPR though, none or just a couple breaks. Let me just remind you that these are some tough w/o's.

Not sure if you all had a chance to read Cathe's newsletter regarding the shorter w/o's. She's done those types of w/o's for many years-CTX, 4DS, HIIT all come to mind. BR fits that profile nicely too!

Laura-glad your numbers came back good! Good for you for still finding a way to get your w/o in. The high weight I had on Monday must of just been water weight from eating out over the weekend.

Lori-Is it for certain that you will have to relocate? Once you relocate once is that where you'll stay for a long time? Or will you have to relocate more than once? We don't intend on selling or moving until DS is out of high school. Honestly, I could stay here forever. DH would like a ranch with a basement and we currently have a 2 story with a full basement, about 2500+ sf. He thinks we can downsize too, but I dunno about that. I don't have that AB w/o, but I really like the DVD's I have of hers.

Wendy-It sounds like you and your family have come up with some great ideas. I don't know how it works where you live, but our trainers at the rec center are City Employees. Of course the gyms in my area are different. They are either self employed and work for multiple gyms or a gym employee. Does your SIL work for herself, or is she employed by a gym. Let me know what you think of the TRX, I love it! I've been trying to get my trainer to get certified for this.
