Consecutive Days Question

KLETCO

Cathlete
FINALLY, my videos came!! I was so worried that the snow was going to prevent UPS from coming. Still, I have another question.

I initially read that we shouldn't do STS such that we are working out the same body part 2 days in a row. I read that to mean that I could do upper body 2 days in a row provided the same part isn't in the title (aka Shoulders on Tuesday and Shoulders on Wednesday)... However, reading the booklet it sounds like I shouldn't do upper body 2 days in a row, period?

This week, I ran this morning and have a long run on Saturday, so Friday will be an off day for me. I was planning to do Disc 1 tomorrow, Disc2 on Wednesday and Disc3 on Thursday, but I can't do that if I'm correct about not doing upper two days in a row - Disc 1 and 2 are both upper.

So, I guess my question is, am I right that I can't do the workouts Tues/Wed/Thurs, and my second question is, if I don't do them on consecutive days, does it hurt my results to do them out of order (disc 1 / disc 3 / disc 2)? I can possibly find another solution, but I"m trying to figure this out. Maybe I should run down and do disc 1 right now????? Help!

I wonder if you could switch the 2nd day of upper body with lower body. Example, Monday upper body, shoulders, biceps, chest; Wednesday Legs; Friday upper body, back and triceps. Just a thought.

Good luck

HI Kim:

this is just my opinion, but I would not recommend doing two upper body workouts back to back like you describe... in doing the first few weeks of STS already, I can not imagine doing them one after another. I do not believe that you would diminish any results if you reorganize the discs and do Legs inbetween the two upper body workouts... I believe that Cathe herself has said that it should be OK to do the these weeks in any order you wish, however it works best for you... I would recommend breaking up the STS workouts with some form of cardio though, but that's just a personal preference... basically if you do the same days every week, you will still be getting 6 days between each body part, so the days don't really matter as much...

enjoy!

Thanks guys.

I really want to do the workouts in order and I really don't want to start tonight (since I ran this morning!), so I studied my calendar and figured it out... I have a race next weekend that moves my usual saturday run to Sunday. That means I can do:

Tu Disc 1
We Cardio
Th Disc 2
Fr Off
Sat Long Run
Sun Disc 3 (legs)
Mon Disc 4 (upper)
Tu Short Run
We Disc 5 (upper)
Th Short Run
Fri Disc 6 (legs)
Sat Off
Sun Race

That race saves me! :) I'll be doing discs 3 & 4 back to back, but they're opposite parts, so it should be ok and I can still satisfy my OCD need to do the discs in order... :)

The rest of the month, it should all work out ok.
