Completed the "Official Beginner Rotation" - now what?

I have completed the Beginner Rotation provided by Cathe. I have been dabbling in some of her other workouts, but I don't feel ready for a full-on Intermediate Rotation. I have been doing LowMax, Low Intensity Step off of 4 Day Split and the 109 minute step/weight work mix from LowImpact Step. I have also been trying Step Heat and Step Jam. Some of the step work is a bit complicate for me (like in the 3rd section of Low Intensity Step), but I feel that I have the endurance for it. I can't do much high impact because I'm 46 and have spinal stenosis. What do I do next? I am not sure I'll ever be able to do the really advanced work I could accomplish when I was younger, but I'd like to be in decent shape and I have about 50 pounds to lose. I would appreciate any/all suggestions or encouragement. I am afraid of becoming bored, reaching a point where I can;t progress and going back to my old ways. I am actually getting a little bit scared.

If you're 46, you'll know now or very soon, that it's up to you. This is a wonderful, empowering age.

Good for you for what you have accomplished! Now, there are no excuses about weight or age or problems (because at 46 we all endure or have endured something). You just have to start from where YOU are, and GO!!

You have to realize that ANY Cathe rotation is far from beginner status, relative to the rest of the non-Cathe world. You've already exceeded most Americans. Look around you.

Keep going. Try something like Butts & Guts, and do as much as you can. Mix it up with other DVD's and other activities like walking or hiking, and you won't get bored. You won't get bored as long as you don't let yourself get bored.

But like I wrote before, 46 is a perfect age for a woman to realize her own power, and take responsibility for her own outcome. It's up to you, and you know what? If you're here (Cathe Nation), you're already SO MUCH on your way!

Nancy, stick with it. It's YOUR body. Own it.

Best wishes.

Hi Nancy

I did the beginner rotation too, at the end of last year, following with a mixed rotation of Pyramid Upper Body, Pyrarmid Lower Body, Low Max (step combo premix) & Low Impact Circuit (premixes & entire circuit workouts)

Like you, I don't really know if I'll be able to do all the things I'd like, but in the event that it is possible, I'm trying to build a plan to get there. It has proven to be effective for gains in strength & endurance. I never did any formal training in the past, so it's pretty new (& fun) for me.

I think the pyramids though, you may really like & those routines are fun & effective for gaining & maintaining strength. I do not know if your condition precludes this type of exercise or not.

Have fun! :)

Cathe's kickbox workouts would probably be good for you too! They're low impact for the most part. She does put in some jumping jacks that you can modify to low impact in between sets, but they're great cardio and can really burn some calories, especially if you add weighted gloves! Whew!

Inspired!

Thank you every one for your honesty, ideas and encouragement. I will remind myself each day that it is up to me and that I am in charge of my own road to fitness. I am committed to try Low Impart Circuit and the Pyramids. I am going to order a kickboxing workout today. I will keep trying to get the choreography I find tricky until I get it and if I can't complete a workout, I'll choose one I can do to make up the time, so that I work out at least an hour a day. I need to find a local hiking trail!

I am on it!!!
