Commercials you love & hate.......

OK this Rembrandt commercial is making me absolutely nuts. You know, the one w/the two kids making out for like 5 minutes straight? I was hoping it was just a V-Day promo & I wouldn't have to see it again after last week, but sadly I was wrong. I mean, is it really necessary to use soft porn to sell toothpaste?

And the Vaseline hand cream commercial, w/all those hands & the weird music in the background.........this ad totally gives me the creeps.

Oh & now there's actually a commercial FOR a commercial that'll premier during the Oscars. Can't remember for what. Ummmm, since when did we get excited about the "premier" of an advertisement? Since when did ads advertise ads?

Commercials I love........the Geico caveman ads. Every time I see them they make me smile.

The Pedigreed dogfood ads. They make me smile & cry at the same time.

I like the Geico ads, too. And I love the "celebrity" series that they do, the ones with Little Richard and Charo are my favorites. (and I'm kinda proud that those compaigns were done at a firm here in Richmond.)

HATE those Capital One ads with the vikings or whatever.

But my all-time most hated commercial is that one with the fungus that gets under the toenail. I know it's a cartoon, but I can't even watch it, it grosses me out so much.

I find that one rather odd too...

I also am totally creeped out by the Burger King commercials with that creepy king. *shudders*

And has anyone seen the new commercial for the new digital EPT pregnancy tests? "The most technologically advanced thing you'll ever... pee on" and then they actually show a stream of pee going onto the pg test? EW EW EW!!!

I love the Geico caveman! Did you know he has a website? You can hang out in his apartment - very cool!

but without tv, I wouldn't get to see Arcade Fire on SNL this week. Oh, that's right, I just saw them LIVE last weekend!!!}(

Yeah, I saw the kissing one, too. I actually thought it was a movie or something. WTH.

I'm sorry to hijack this thread and get off-topic but I just have to concur with Te Te! Good TV is GOOD! I can't wait for this week's SNL. The Arcade Fire are amazing and Rainn Wilson (Dwight from the Office) is hosting! I think he is my all time favorite comedic actor ever. Pure genius!

OK, commercials...I hate the nail fungus commercial too! And it always comes on when I'm eating breakfast-gross! The geico commercials are funny. There were a few funny FedEx commercials recently too. I think the Wilfred Brimley medicare/free diabetes testing supplies commercials are hilarious, but unintentionally so.

I hate all of the ones that have to do with STD's, erectile dysfunction, yeast infections, etc... Real classy...

All time worse is the toe nail fungus .. it makes my stomach turn when the toenail pops up .. {{ ack.. cough .. ack }}

.. another that makes my stomach turn is the KFC honey barbque wing bucket thing .. ?? .. don't know why .. maybe it is the enormous amount of sauce .. but it makes me gag too ..

.. and although I like the gum .. the Orbit commercials are so stupid

.. and the Burger King huge head does freak me out a bit .. especially the one where he peers into a window .. what's up w/that

Love . . love ... love the geiko commercials .. and the new Taco Bell Lion commercial where one is trying to roll his tongue saying "Carne' sauce" .. too funny ..

LOVE all the Kibbles and Bits commericials .. (remember the dancing bull dog) .. and love the commercial w/the cats .. (kitty litter commercial) .. where the cats come over and are partying and the owners come home and they have to scatter . . the cat dancing w/the lamp shade cracks me up ..

one more .. the Windex commercial w/the crows .. where they ring the doorbell and the man goes inside to answer it .. meanwhile the other bird shuts the door and the man comes out and runs into the door .. LOL!

I love the Geico caveman, too. Will definitely check out that website.

Also, I like most of the Bud Light ads--especially the one with the young couple picking up the hitchhiker.

Agree on the toenail fungus, ED, urinary incontinence, etc. Ewwwww! Do not like the ads for prescription medication with all the "disclaimers" at the end. Talk about CYA!

ETA Oh, oh, oh, and "Head On. Apply directly to the forehead. Head On. Head On . . . " I HATE that ad!!

"I'm thinking of a number, and it's between . . . . . "

I am so tired of the credit score commercial!!!! Please stop!

"If your erection lasts longer than four hours......"

YIKES!!!

OMG! I love that windex commercial with the crows. I laugh every time.
I don't see too many commercials because I tivo everything so I can skip em.
TIVO, the greatest invention ever!!!!!
LD:)

My favorite drug commercial is for ambien, a sleeping pill and at the end they list the side effects and one is may cause drowsiness! HUH? I thought that was the whole point!
Shelley....no tv at all?

I love the commercials for VW with the German engineer trying to be a pimp. I also love the new Mac commercials where the system is trying to talk to the new Windows Vista system - "Do you confirm?" Hehe.

Hates: pharmaceuticals ("this product may cause bloating, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, back pain, blood clots, mild strokes, cardiac arrest, decapitation...."), VS ads (do my kids really need to see toothpick woman prancing about in their undies?) and anything overtly sexy.

I'm off TV for Lent, though. :)

YES YES YES!!! I love those commercials! :D

I don't get the pregnancy test commercial that claims the earliest results. I don't get why you need to know the very instant second you get pregnant anyway.

I've understood that oftentimes a pregnancy will end itself before a woman even becomes aware that she is pregnant. It seems to me a super quick pregnanacy test could potentially cause a lot of unnecessary grief. Does a person really need to know the next day that she's pregnant? Or the next week?

Not trying to pick a fight. I just wondered.

Ditto on that! Maybe we need to be a bit more positive. How about adding 'reincarnation' after decapitation? One might as well stay sick considering the 'cure' seems to be a disease in and of itself

It's not possible to know the next day - the soonest one could get a positive home test result would be about 8-10 days after ovulation, and even then, it can be difficult to detect the pregnancy hormone. But ask anyone who is trying to have a baby, and they'll probably tell you that waiting to find out is one of the hardest parts of trying to conceive. There are also practical reasons to find out early - ie, so that risky behaviors can be avoided (like drinking).
