close grip push ups

This move really bothers my elbows. I just don't have the strength to do my upper body. I substitute with close grip bench presses(using dumbbells), or do them on the stability ball (feet raise off the ground). The SB takes the pressure off my elbows.
 
I definitely can't do those on my toes, and never could.
Try doing them from your knees, or putting your hands on a platform of some kind, to raise the angle of your upper body.

Another trick is to turn your elbows so the inner elbows face forward, and your arms skim the sides of your body when you push up and down. One instructor claims that it's impossible to do the move without this little form tweek.

I struggle doing pushups! Actually after Meso 1 I have gotten better but I definitely struggle with these. I try and do a couple on the platform or my knees. I have also used the same substitutions Cynthia does...close grip bench presses.

The ball push ups are my favorite! I can really work my triceps this way and it takes all the pressure off my elbows.
