Clean and Tidy--Friday June 29

Well, it worked, girls. I got ready to log on and read the threads, and signing on to "clean and tidy" made me remember my water. I hadn't had any in a couple hours, so I grabbed a 16 oz glass of ice water, and downed it instantly. It's strange how I can be thirsty and be too pre-occupied to notice. Having a check-in helped!

Lorie--I am so sorry!! :-( I thought you were on the RT and did NOT mean to say anything hurtful by mentioning it. I'm glad that Tess organized an Atlanta Yahoo group and that the two of you could meet. I think there are enough DFW folks that a computer savvy person (ie, NOT ME) could work one up there, too! That's where I'll be on furlough and I've already found a couple folks who will be near me. I'm glad you've got fellow Cathe-ites nearby. Since I'm over here in Africa, I am so thrilled for these forums. It's been an inspiration.

Kate--Yes! Finding unattractive desserts is wonderful. My husband can sit and eat his Skittles all day and I'm never tempted. It's wonderful. However, if he pulls out peanut M&Ms, that's a different story!! :9

So far, so good, today, but I'm on a weird schedule. I think I will have 3 snacks and no official lunch today.

B--2 poached eggs, 1 piece dry toast, grilled tomato
S--veggie plate

I'm ready for snack #2. Maybe some fruit or an apricot bar (homemade granola bar).

I only have a moment to stop in and say hi. Work's been nuts and I have had very little time to post. My eating has been stellar one day, then quite less than stellar the next...oh well x(.

I'll try to get back later tonight to check in properly. I have to get my butt out the door this morning. I have a BUNCH of horses to ride before we show my sale pony to a potential buyer. I hope it goes well...I could really use to get out from under her.

Today is going to be a great day! I feel so motivated the last few day to eat clean. DH said last night he can notice the difference. It's amazing - when I cut out sugars and empty carbs my waist visibly shrinks in 2 days. as soon as I add those foods back in I bloat right up. At least I know what works.

b - cereal & a banana

I'll have some fruit for a snack in a little bit and lunch will be a taco salad w/ tons of my fave salsa. Not sure about dinner yet - the girls are begging for spaghetti and meatballs!

Wendy, Good luck w/ the horse riding. I used to ride all of the time when I was little and I miss it.

Laura, If you could share your recipe for homemade granola bars I'd be eternally grateful. I must have 5 different boxes in my pantry right now and I'd love a good healthy homemade version.

Today my Slow & Heavy series gets delivered. I can't wait!

Don't be crazy!!! You did not hurt me at all by mentioning it! I am soooo glad you get to go.

You could really do a Yahoo group. It's REALLY easy. Go to Yahoo Groups and they walk you right through it. I've done two groups and I am NOT computer savvy. Go and post something on OD for DFW people and give them the link to the group. COme on, you can do it!!! :)

I am really trying to get the motivation to work out. Right now, the butt glue is very sticky!!!

Yesterday, I snacked a lot in the evening but it was all clean (so, better than a box of Whoppers!).

I am not sure what is planned for today. I'll bbl.

Hi all, and hapypy friday!

My PMS is making me ravenous, I want all food, clean or not!x( I have been "picking" at stuff not good for me since Wednesday. Little bits of this and that.
I will try and be good today, lots of water, fruit, sprouts, the regular stuff I eat when I am "clean".
I did P90X shoulders and arms yesterday and Ab RipperX. Today is cardio in the AM, probably the elliptical and the "Squeeze" workout tonight maybe.
Now if I can keep out of the peanut butter jar, and the ice cream sandwiches..I love those Skinny Cow ones! Not high in calories, but they are full of sugar!

Hi everyone. "Stellar one day then less the stellar the next" just about sums it up for me too Wendi. Last night I didn't feel like cooking or going out, so I whipped up some waffles and bacon. Not clean. Not tidy. But they did hit the spot. We are going out with friends tonight and I'm pretty sure it will involve a steak sandwich, onion rings and a beer. Followed by a glass of wine on the patio. I don't even know why I'm posting here today. Oh well, I'll try to clean it up over the weekend. Hope you all have an easy day sticking to your plans.
 
Hello Clean and Tidy's!
Sorry I didnt get a chance to check in yesterday, i was asked to teach a group of HIV + pregnant women in the community, so i left work early and got home quite late. What a fantastic experience though, i think its going to become a regular thing for me, or i hope so anyway.
Yesterday was good, did MM at 4am, and Barr fat free when i got home, eating was good, usual. I've found this puffed kamut cereal, 100% natural, 50 calories/cup. Its a nice filling snack!
Today, i did the butts this morning, and i'll do 30 min HIIT tonight. I exercise way too much, and dont eat enough, i'm slowly figuring this one out!
To all attending the roadtrip, i cant wait to meet you!! We'll have to keep each other tidy..ish over that weekend! But eating pancakes with Cathe is a must :)

Steph, you KNOW that eating too little is counter-productive. It will make you hold on to whatever you have eaten. I have the same problem, but following this plan has shown me that I do need to eat!

I know this, you are so right and thank you for pointing it out, sometimes hearing it makes it sink in! I'm an eat to live person pretty much, so lots of food, nutrient dense foods, but not many calories. I'm also a very strict vegetarian, and have been since age 10. I dont really know if i could eat more, cause i do eat, i need to cut down on the exercise, i cant believe i'm saying (typing :) this. Does anyone feel the same way?

I COULD HAVE WRITTEN YOUR POST!!! I know EXACTLy how you feel. I feel like I have been (kind of) starving myself forever. I'm not really into food, so, like you, I eat to live most of the time. Also, I tend to over do it on the cardio at times. I am trying to do more weights, less cardio but I LOVE cardio!

That's why check in's are so great! I dont do a ton of cardio, but i work out daily,and have two dogs that i walk like crazy, which i forget is exercise! Its funny what we dont count as activity!

I actually lost 3 pounds, got on the scale this AM, after my "pick fest" for the past three days, I thought I had gained, plus the PMS deal, but to my surprise, there it was.:7 Maybe I will slip into my "skinny jeans" today and "strut!":D Happy eats and happy weekend!
 
Hi ladies!

Well, yesterday was a typical "clean by day & unclean by night" day for me. Today is starting out really good too but it's Friday & I feel pretty certain it will go downhill once I leave the office. Oh well... some is better than none, right? Plus, it seems like I'm seeing a difference too, so that's good!

Guess what I just realized??? We have been doing this check-in for a MONTH!!! Most of us started the day after Memorial Day (the 29th) and today is the 29th!!!

WOOO-HOOO!!! We have managed to stay clean or tidy for a month now!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
 
Steph - Careful on too much working out! It cost me my fertility. I lost my period for 2 years because of this. I was too thin and couldn't see it. Due to several factors I gained 15 lbs. Lo and behold my period came back like magic. I gained another 5 and I am so regular now it's crazy. Every 28 days at 6 a.m. I struggle so much with the # I see on the scale so I quit weighing myself and it's been the best thing for me. I just try to focus on eating healthy food and keeping active. I actually would love to know what I weigh but I'm too scared that I'll start starving myself again. Not that I was starving like an anorexic but I had my workouts rated as to how many pounds I could lose with each one and had so many "off-limits" foods and eating rules that I followed. I would like to lose some weight/firm up again to be a little more like I used to be, but I'm trying to do it slow and steady. DH says I'm still crazy and look great but I don't "feel" as tight as I used to be. I remind myself that fitness is a journey and I should enjoy it instead of making a punishment out of it.

Thanks for being so kind to say this. I am actually at a very healthy weight, My BMI is 22, and i eat very well. I do use working out to solve all my problems tough! If i ate too little, i wouldnt need the check in :)
Lorie, one month!! That's amazing for our little group!
It was Shelley's idea i think, but she hasnt checked in yet!

Hey All! My Cathe road trip roomie StephanieD invited me to join your group as I'm still struggling to clean up my eating. I have lost about 10 lbs so far but I need to tighten up my eating. My biggest challenge lately has been that work has been complete insanity so I'll try to check in whenever I can. I'd like to lose a little more weight and tighten up a bit more before the Cathe trip....
