classical stretch w/o???

Fach

Cathlete
I just read about classical stretch workouts on another forum. Has anyone tried them? Feedback? I'm looking for a good full body stretching/lengthening type w/o to add to my mix.

I have the CS dvd for the back. It's a great dvd. 30 minutes and you're done and the instructor is totally natural and very informative. I haven't used it as often as I should but when I do, I can really feel the difference in my back.

Thanks Allison for the feedback. I think I might want to try something in this line. Hopefully a few other members here will post a comment that will help decide which dvd to buy. They don't seem to offer much in the way of preview on the sight.

I have the Express and the Athlete's Stretch. I wouldn't purchase the Athlete's Stretch one again, as the cardio is light and the stretch emphasis is for golfers. But I enjoy the other one -- it has 3 different programs (each filmed in a different location). However, they seem to be all similar. I find them to be helpful. Much different than athletic stretching like Cathe's and not at all like yoga. HTH, Deb

Check your local PBS listings -- she has a 30 minute program by the same name that airs in certain markets around the country. I think it's on in my area about 3 days a week in the early morning.

I have all of them except for the Cardio, Osteoporosis, the one for men, and the Cancer ones (though I bought the cancer one for a friend). I love love these workouts. I think of them more as muscle rebalancing (as does Miranda), as opposed to just stretch because these are not your usual stretchs. Stretchs in our 'usual' workouts are about 5 min of w/u and c/d. Classical stretch is a whole different ball game of muscle stretch/muscle contract/and a further muscle stretch....PNF.. proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation.. is what Miranda calls it. Plus the stretches are anywhere from 25 min to an hour. They are fluid not bouncy.
I could write volumes about this program, but I will just say that I do not know what I did without them. I will pop in a 25 min one before I do anything else for the day. This program has made me rethink my exercise program and the importance of having the body in balance. I personally put this my top shelf and everything else revolves around it. This has made a world of difference in my life. My muscles are more elongated, which was what I was trying to achieve with all the wieght work and aerobics I did over the years. I still do weights and aerobics, but Classical Stretch is first...it gives me the energy to do Cathe.:)

ETA: My personal favorites are the TV Series, Express, and Arms, Legs, Abs and Butt. But I love them all.

I have Full Body Workout/Athletes Intense Stretch, Express 30-Minute Workouts (3 workouts on this DVD), and the TV show, which has 26 workouts! (30 minutes each) on 3 discs.

I LOVE these workouts. I hadn't ever heard of them until May of this year when they were discussed on the Video Fitness forum. I can't believe I've gone without them for so long, because I feel absolutely wonderful when I've finished doing one.

I tack one of these on the end of my workout sessions anytime I do a DVD that's 60 minutes or less (didn't do it yesterday because I did Step, Jump, and Pump, which is 73 minutes).

I do the Full Body Workout or the Athletes Intense Stretch alone, because each one is 60 minutes.

It does take a while to get these if you order from their web site (it's in Canada). Don't worry, your order will eventually show up. If you can find them on EBay, you'll get them much sooner.

You were right. I found it on at 6:00 am Saturdays. Guess I had better figure out how to hook up that darned tevo. There is noooo way I'm getting up that early on the weekend. Thanks for the heads up.

Fach, it comes on way to early for me, too, so I ordered season 4 on DVD. I liked the idea of having so many short workouts to choose from -- I think they run about 28 minutes. Anyway, it came and I tried it last night and OMG!! I LOVED it -- I loved everything about it. She's an excellent instructor and her form pointers are great. The moves are graceful and fluid, and the music is mostly classical which I find pleasing for a stretch. I felt very relaxed and tall after the workout.

Great...I had just convinced myself that I didn't *need* these...now I have to have them.;-) ;-)

I recently got the Athletes Stretch and Full Body Stretch (on dvd- two 60 min w/o). I got it from Half.com I have only done 30 min of the Athlete's Stretch, but I absolutely loved it so much that I think I will get a tv episode dvd so I can have many shorter stretch w/o. I bought it at Half.com for about $14.

I got the tivo up and running so I plan to tape Saturday mornings eposide for reveiw. Then if I love them as much as everyone here seems to I'll order from her site. I'm thinking these will really be a nice addition to my mix. Thanks again everyone!
