Circuit Workouts?

I have soooo many circuit workouts in my collection but I struggle to find a place for them in my rotations. I usually alternate cardio days and weight days and feel when I do a circuit workout(on my weight day) I'm just not getting enough weight work. I did Kelly Coffey-Meyer's Cardio Sculpt Fitness this morning and then followed it up with one of her full body pre-mixes from her 30 minutes to fitness weights dvd because I felt I hadn't done enough. Anybody have good suggestions?

Thanks,
Laura

The circuit workouts I do (Red Carpet Ready, kettlebells, etc.) tend to be the ones that are all strength exercises, but just done back-to-back with little to no rest--those are the ones I prefer, vs. the strength exercise followed by a cardio burst, followed by a strength exercise type of workout. With the former, I feel like I do get enough of a strength workout (provided that I'm alternating muscles in the exercises, so I can go all out with my weight because the other muscle I just worked is resting).

Maybe give this type of circuit a try? The only drawback for me is I sometimes wonder whether I'm getting enough cardio in with this type of workout, although the way my heart rate spikes, I probably shouldn't be concerned LOL. But I do have separate cardio days, so I don't worry about it too much.

I typically do circuit on my core day. I have a 3 day split of heavy lifting I do at the gym (usually Tues, Thurs & Sun). On Saturdays I'll do circuit or kickbox, then core.

My rotation for the past month has been ...

Total Body
Cardio
Total Body
Cardio
(Rest)
Circuit
Cardio

Fitting that circuit gives me that little bit extra cardio for the week and it gives my muscles a little bit of a break ....I consider it more of my "maintenance" weight day.

Would it be benificial to do an all circuit rotation? Maybe:

Circuit
Cardio
Circuit
Cardio
Circuit

Hi Kim-
That is the way I like to put circuits into a rotation. That way you give those muscles a little bit of rest when you are doing a cardio only day.

I also like to make sure the cardio I put in between the circuit days isn't the same kind as what I'm doing on the circuit days.. That way you can shock your body up even more.
