Circuit Max

Can someone tell me what makes Circuit Max so difficult compared to Cathe's other circuit workouts? (I actually haven't used it in a while and I just can't remember it at all). How does it compare to the Terminators or Boot Camp in terms of difficulty? Lastly, do the weight sections just include compound exercises or do they include upper-body-only excercises too?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I just did this workout two days ago and, truth be told, I feel that Boot Camp and Terminater workouts are more difficult.... However C-Max is a challenging workout, and is (for me) more challenging than Cardio & Weights.

So order of difficulty might be
1. Terminater workouts
2. BootCamp (second because it is shorter in length than above workouts)
3. Circuit Max
4. Step Jump Pump
5. Cardio & Weights

The weight segments in C-Max are upper/lower body combined, and my heart stays pumping through the whole segment; then it is time to move on to the next cardio. I sweat tremendously during this workout (and my work out area is air-conditioned)

The ab work is is planks and while it is short, it still works my core nicely.

Hi Judy.

Thanks for the info. This will work out well for me. I love the Terminators, but I was also looking for something that was a little less intense than they are, but more intense than C&W. Sounds like Circuit Max fits the bill nicely.

Take Care,

There's a lot of hi-lo in Circuit Max and little recovery time. I think that's what makes it hard. Your heartrate is still way up there and then it's time to pick up the weights.

For me, Circuit Max is harder than Boot Camp and the Terminators.

Nothing is harder than MIC though. :p

I agree with Dani. Circuit Max is harder than the Terminators or Boot Camp. The reason is that all of the above give you some breathers. I think Boot Camp is the easiest because not only do you get "total" breathers, but cardio-wise, the upper body sections and abs are pretty easy, and the leg things are not so tough either. Circuit-Max is just grueling and non-stop. I do it on 8" and it's really a tough cardio.

The Terminators are longer, but there are always wee breaks.

And I absolutely agree with Dani that nothing is harder than MIC!

I agree with you two.Cicuit Max is the most challenging circuit style workout & Mic is the most intense but I do not know what it is but SJP seems to really get me & HSA, BC & the terminator compilation don't.I can't figure it out & we are all different.I think with me when I have to concentrate on the moves & think while I am exercising it makes it more difficult for me.I have to think while I am doing CM & SJP but BC & HSA seem very basic for me & the term has breaks. The strangest thing is Mindy Mylreas Action Packed Step segment is the most brutal for me.I am panting & do not continue with the high low.Strange

Interesting how different things challenge us! I find Circuit Max really challenging cardiowise as the short compound weight segments really keep your heartrate up there. I count it as a "high intensity" cardio workout, and I also sweat tremendously during CM (much more than BC or alike). In my book HSTA feels the next challenging cardiowise, my heartrate stays pretty high during lots of the weight work (which doesn't happen for that many weight workouts). BC again is challenging, but in a very different way; I think it works more overall stamina and endurance, it's not really a cardioworkout at least in my book... SJP seems by far the easiest of all these for me, although the leg weight work does get me trembling there...;)).
