Cindy Crawford's workout dvds

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying Cindy Crawford's 3 workout dvds and I was wondering if any of you have tried these and what you thought. There's a rather large post about them at videofitness.com and they seem to be very popular. I'm hesitant to jump on the bandwagon though. I did that with Slim Series and I did not like those workouts at all. I've used Cathe exclusively for several years now because I can't find anything else out there I like. The reason why I'm considering Cindy's workouts is because I'm 10 weeks pregnant and looking for something a little less intense than Cathe. I did step blast this morning (skipping the challenge) and it totally wiped me out and this is usually and easy video for me. So any thoughts and suggestions would be great!

Hi, Jacque! I don't know if the Cindy Crawford DVD's are more recent, but I gotta tell ya - a long time ago I (to my everlasting embarrassment) bought her first workout video, co-produced and led by this whacko named "RaDU", and it was the most excruciatingly bad piece o' work I've ever seen. Ineffective, unsafe moves, boring, stupid and dumb. (Don't ask me to explain the distinctions between 'stupid' and 'dumb'; I don't have enough coffee in me.)

Save your money. If you want workouts that are specifically oriented toward pregnant women (and, btw, CONGRATULATIONS!), go on to the Collage Video website (www.collagevideo.com), and key in a search for vids for pregnant women. That oughtta get you some good hits. Kathy Smith made a workout video when she was pregnant with (I think) her first child, and it remains a popular vid; I'm sure she has it on DVD.

A great workout for pregnancy and afterwards is Cindy Crawford's "New Dimension". She created this workout with Kathy Kaehler, not Radu and it's GREAT!

Another great workout of hers is "Next Challenge". This is one of my all time favorites. I LOVE it and still use it. It's timeless, the moves are very effecitve and there is no dread factor at all. The whole workout flies by and the music and scenery are beautiful!!

I highly recommend "New Dimension" and "Next Challenge". You can get them from amazon and also collage has a video clip of "Next Challenge" also. Check it out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The price is very reasonable too. Only $12.99 on amazon. :)
 
I agree completely with A-jock about Cindy's first workout video with Radu, which I am now emboldened to admit I did own at one time. Do not buy this one unless you're looking for a quick injury.

A-Jock, do you remember this -- there was this supposed leg exercise she did where she was hanging onto a chair back with one hand, and just wildly swinging her straightened leg forward into a kick with such momentum that you could almost HEAR her hamstring ripping??? I think the background music to that was that catchy 80's song about "oh we're never gonna survive unless we get a little... crazy." I remember distinctly hearing that music and thinking that "well, that MOVE is crazy."

Some wacko abs stuff in this video, too, if I recall -- really unsafe for the neck.

That was her "Shape Your Body" you are referring to. This workout is effective and fun and if you know anything about form and exercise you will not get injured. If you have never excercised a day in your life then don't start with Shape Your Body. This was way back when she first made a workout video and there were no form pointers.

She completely redeemed herself and made 2 AWESEOME workouts with plenty of good form pointers. There is even a form glossary at the end of "Next Challenge". The last workout she made "New Dimension" was made with Kathy Kaehler who was featured on the Today show. These are both excellent workouts and she shows perfect form in both. You will also see results and these moves do work. You will definitely see results if your goal is to tone your muscles and slim down.

I still like Shape Your Body and if anyone out there likes the Slim Series or workouts similar to this try Cindy's workouts. They are a lot more fun and have the same type of moves.

You'll even see some of Cindy's moves in Cathe's Legs and Glutes!!! Cindy started something great here!

Thanks for responding. I can tell you really like these workouts and judging from the reviews at amazon.com you're not the only one. I went ahead and ordered all three. I had heard about the bad form in the first workout so I'm prepared for it, after doing Cathe all these years I would hope I picked up on proper form :)
