Christi's new videos

Anybody out there tried the new Christi Taylor videos (Totally Hot Cardio and Totally Cool Step)?

I know they both have a section she calls the move master where she breaks all the steps down separately from the actual workout. I'm hoping with the move master that even choreographically challenged me will be able to do a Christi video finally. Anybody tried the "move master"?

Thanks,
Lisa

lwseymour,

I haven't done her new video, yet, but I did order it last Saturday on DVD. So, I will critique for you and let you know the result. I, too, consider myself advanced choreographically, since I have been doing step aerobics for 12 years. I had no problems with Cathe's Rhythimic Step.

But I do find Christi's videos very challenging - I get frustrated and sometimes feel I am wasting my workout time trying to learn the video. But I know in the long run it is worth it.

Lisa,

I have not tried the move master but I have tried Totally Cool Step. It is really fun. It's kind of different from her other videos, to me anyway. It doesn't seem quite as dancy, maybe somewhat equal to Still Steppin'. I have to work at difficult choreography and I was able to catch on enough to this workout that I got a strong workout despite having to learn new stuff. I love Christi so I might be biased but I think it is a great workout. No where near the difficulty of Step Heaven.

I have previewed and done a few minutes of Totally Cool Cardio and I think it will be about the same in complexity. Hi/Lo is always harder for me to get though. I hope to try this workout in it's entirety this week sometime. To me Christi is always worth the work, just like Cathe! :)

I have both tapes. Cool Step is my favorite. Both workouts are excellent & are similar to each other. The moves are comparable, one being hi/lo and the other step. I hope that made sense. I didn't find move master to be necessary. She is wearing sweats, and demonstrating the moves with her back to the viewer. Its easy to see her movements. I watched it once and prefered to just follow the girls in the back when doing the video. Within a week, I was able to turn & do the moves w/ Christi. These workouts are much easier than previous workouts, ie., Step Heaven. I don't even attempt the second part of that tape anymore. I hope that answers your question. Both are fun and I don't think you will be disappointed. She is the only instructor I find comparable to Cathe.

Thanks for the responses ladies. The move master sounds like it will help me considerably especially since her back is to you like in a real class. Where's that visa card? Thanks again.

RE: Aw man, Lisa!

Okay, you guys are scaring me now! I just bought Step Heaven on ebay, my first Christy tape. Apparently I went for the wrong thing! Is it going to leave me gasping on the floor? LOL
(Of course, Cathe's stuff leaves me gotf on a regular basis.)

RE: Christi's tapes

I have just tackled High Lo Heaven and it is so much fun. The funny part of that is that I bought it brand new, previewed it (barely) and then tried to do it. I was overwhelmed and immediately traded it away. So, a year later, I get it again on a trade, determined to conquer it and you know what, I did. It does take some patience and some rewinding but I really believe that our ability to catch on to choreography is progressive. The exact same thing happened to me with Powermax except instead of trading it, I put it away for a year. When I did try it again, I wondered to myself why I thought it was so hard.

Now, I am going to either buy or trade for Step Heaven and tackle it too. I have never done a Christi step tape (just her hi lo) but I figure if I can get Rythmic Step and Step this Way, I am going to get Step Heaven too.

One point that I would make is don't try to learn a new tape when you really want to get a good workout. Try some segments of a new tape after your workout for the day or on a rest day. That way, if you have to rewind or stop, you won't feel cheated out of your workout for that day.

My first Christi tape that I conquered was Happy Hour. And as for 9801, we won't go there agan........YET. Christi Taylor really is loads of fun, however, you may want to try a less complex tape to get her style down before you move on to Step Heaven. Or, just go for it.

Kim-
I think Step Heaven is easier than Hi Lo Heaven, and I LOVE it!!! Can't wait to hear what you think!
Have fun,

RE: Christi's tapes

Hey Kim,
Go on and dig out that 9801 again. it is fun! I do think it is harder than Hi/Lo Heaven, but if you got HLH then you can do 9801. At one point Chrisi says "I Love This Job" and you can tell that she really really does!

RE: Hi Joy

Unfortunately, I traded 9801 a few years ago but someday I plan on tackling it again. I never thought I would but since I have figured out HLH, there is hope I believe. If I see it offered as a trade, I'll probably snag it again.
