choreography of "step blast" and "step jump and pump?"

hi, i ordered the dvds so it'll take a while before i get to do these workouts. in your opinion, how would you describe the choreography of Step Blast and Step Jump and Pump. Are they complex with a lot of pivots and turns? is it anything like rhythmic step and all step which are complicated in my book. also, i really want to order the intensity series but i'm also have second thoughts about the complex choreography.

RE: choreography of

I would say that the choreography in "step blast" and "step jump and pump" is fairly similar (complexity wise) to "rhythmic step". But if you can do rhythmic step, then you should be fine with these. Also, they are really fun so I would recommend getting them and putting the time in to learn the moves... once you do, you will find that it is really enjoyable. I personally don't think the Intensity Series is as complex in choreography as the previously mentioned workouts. The only one that might be a little complicated are the mini step combos in IMAX2, but as I said before, it is well worth taking the time to learn. Hope this helps!

RE: choreography of

Hello,

IMHO, I believe the Intensity Series is more intense physically than the Body Blast series but has much easier choreography than Step Blast. I am not a Rhythmic Step fan at all but LOVED Step Jump & Pump. I also like Step Blast. I'll have to do it a few more times to get the moves down. It's complicated in a fun way. Rhythmic Step kinda just plucked my nerve;-) I don't think Step Blast is as dancey as Rhythmic Step, and the pivot-type moves in it are easily modified. I believe the Intensity Series moves are more athletic than dancey. I think the choreography could be learned easily. Hope that helps with your decision. Ohhh, so many tapes, so little money:D

Blessings,
Denise

Thanks, Denise, and....

Thanks, Denise.

I don't find Rhythmic Step intense, I get the choreography--I don't enjoy dancey moves, and my heart rate goes down. I love athletic moves and working on the step, not the floor. When people compare the new step routines to Rhythmic Step, I get concerned (as I'm anxiously awaiting the DVD's!), because I don't want anymore "Rhythmic Step"'s. Some of the step routines in IMAX 2 are too floor/dance-oriented for me, so I keep power moving on the step. Your description of the new step routines not being as dancey as RS is a relief. Do the new step routines compare to any other Cathe step routine?

I get confused when people call Rhythmic Step "intense"--now IMAX 1 & 2 (blasts), that's intense!

Step Blast and Step Jump and Pump

I just finished Step Blast and I absolutely loved it! This workout is most likely Cathe's danciest step workout to date. I previewed this last night and I honestly thought that I was going to have to do a lot of rewinding, but I didn't have to rewind at all. There is a short blast segment after each section and this will keep your heartrate up.

There are three step segments, with each segment having a short cardio blast at the end. The blast challenge all three segments and a longer cardio blast at the end of each total combination. This is done three times with the cardio blasts being different each time.

Step Blast is definitely my favorite Cathe step workout to date.

I also loved Step Jump and Pump. I believe I posted in another thread that this workout is pretty close to being perfect.:)

Step Blast Choreography

Are they complex with a lot of pivots and turns? YES! But the good news is Cathe's cueing is impeccable!!!!!
She throws it right at you the first time and says the move as she does it!The second time she says "every" move so we are all in sync(she even knows when we are on the wrong side or put the wrong lead down--she says did you get it? you didn't ??? or you wanted to ??? didn't you) She knows her stuff so well she knows what mistakes we are gonna make and corrects us to get us all on the right track! Cathe Makes this tape DOABLE!!!!!!!!
This is an amazing step workout with a nice surprise added to the challenge! Intensity Drills }( Your heart rate will surely be up here! This video is perfectly done, I'm soo looking forward to mastering these funky cool moves! It really is a BLAST!

PS she shows modifications so you can turn down the heat if you have to}(

RE: choreography of

I just did "Step Blast" and found it pretty complicated but only because there are lots of new moves...which is a good thing. I think I will be able to master the moves after a few more tries. I rarely do "Rythmic Step", just don't really like the workout. I would say "Step Blast" is just as complicated but it moves so much faster-you will get a good workout, better than "Rythmic Step." The Intensity Series are not that complex. If you regulary work out to Cathe, you can pretty easily (or at least I have been able to) figure out the routines after a few tries. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your comments!

Being choreography challenged, I am sure I will spend a lot of time practicing - especially with Step Blast! I'm sure I'll get it down sooner..most probably later :) I might just use the 4" step again. If I knew that the Intensity Series are considered to have easier choreography, I would have ordered it first. But no regrets, Cathe's dvds are always the best!

RE: Thanks everyone for your comments!

I found Step Blast more complicated than Rhythmic Step. It only took me a couple of tries to get Rhythmic Step down completely. I don't see that happening with Step Blast. I have just about decided to not even try it again until I get the DVD so I can learn one section at a time and then skip directly to the cool down without fast forwarding through the tape.

After saying all this, I have to say I'm PMSing this week and the workout maybe a little easier for me once this week is over. ;)

RE: choreography of

I just finished Step, Jump & Pump, and if you're already familiar with Cathe's choregraphy, you should have no trouble with this one! It's easy to follow because of Cathe's perfect cueing, and fairly simple, and FUN!!!

RE: choreography of

I also just finished Step, Jump, & Pump and I LOVE IT. I think it is my new favorite workout. I already want to do it again tomorrow, but I haven't done some of the others yet. I had no trouble with the steps. The low impact section is so much fun and I even added some jumping on that one because it just fit right in with the fun. I had forgotten there was an ab section and was pleasantly surprised. I think the music is one of the reasons this one is so great and I love that the sections are small. There is not a lot of taking it from the top, unless I missed it because I was having so much fun. :7

I wanted to add that I cannot wait to get the DVDs so I can turn up the volume on these workouts as the music is fantastic. I have surround sound hooked up to my DVD player, and it is going to be so much fun.
