Chinup Check In August 27

Hey ladies! Sorry I've been in and out. My son has a yucky cold so I've been a bit busy. I come to play here when he is napping :) I can't seem to get past the two chins lately. I had a freak day of eeking out 3 but it is slow going. I am working on heavier upper body splits & weighted core. On Sunday I a did kneeling cable extensions and maxed at 130lbs. I shocked myself! My core payed for it though ;) Whew. Anyhoo, hope you all are well. Save me a donut Brieeeeeeee!!

Boybert, keep plugging along. I was almost up to 5 a month ago and now I can only do 3. My fault though- not being consitent. But I find that when I do the next rep it means I am getting stronger. Even if I only do it once. Like your doing 3- I think that's a sign of you getting stronger. And soon, with consistency, you'll be doing 3 on a regular basis. I hope that makes sense.

Soooooooooooosan, that is sooooo funny!! I would love to go on the next Cathe road trip!! Of course we have to stay near a Dunkin Donuts!! LOL!!

Thanks Catherine! I do know consistency is a big thing. I only do these when I'm at the gym so it isn't a planned schedule. I am just happy with the improvements in general :) You guys rock w/ your encouraging words (and donuts...mmm)!!!

Well you deserve the encouraging words, Boybert, because you are SOOOO strong! How old is your son?

Catherine, I'll stay anywhere on the RT as long as we don't have to stay in the same hotel as last time, Dunkin' Donuts or not! (Which, I hear, has been torn down. Don't panic, Briee, I'm talking about the hotel.)

Joanne - and that pizza was darn good! I've been living in the south since 1987 and, having grown up in New Jersey, have been pizza-deprived ever since. I don't remember much about the cake. Oh yeah, it was a birthday cake for Cathe.

No chins for me today. I did PP UB Premix (2X) which was pretty good! I think I'll do one split routine and one total body workout until I start P90X next week or the week after. Maybe I should do the Gymstyles for a couple weeks first to prepare. What do you all think?

Soooooosan ;)

My son is almost 2.5 - crazy toddler time :p

Sooooooooooooosan...I don't think there is much that can prepare you for the P90X. Seems like I just have to dive right in, but I believe you are on the right track. You've been doing a full body each week and the pyramids are great (I have not done them in over a year - I think it's time to work them in right after my current rotation). I don't know if doing the GS's would put you any further along. They are great, but I honestly can't say they are anything like the P90X. To me...they are more Cathe endurance in type, than a nice heavy weight rotation. Of course, the P90X is what you make it and you can make it endurancy, but if I was to do that....I'd rather do Cathe (did that make sense). My goal with the P90X has always been to go heavy with fewer reps (I want muscle growth - and a bicep vein of course). .

I think if I was to seriously consider a RT, I'd have to carpool with someone. Joanne? AJ? Marla? Michigan is still probably 6-8 hours due to the lake in between - but that's a great thought! I think the biggest challenge is leaving 6 kids with my dh. But hey...he's from PA...maybe if I can get that far..I could drive from there..hmmmmmm.

Soooooooooooosan...if you change your mind and decide to take over for Cathe...can you please do an updated new and improved slow and heavy rotation with lots of chins and pushups - and ending in donuts? I'll preorder today :7 :7 :7 .

Boybert, I love 2-yr-olds. You just don't get much cuter than that!

Briee, I guess I'll just dive right into P90X. Last time I did the 90-day rotation, I didn't have a pull-up bar, so this will be a whole 'nother ball of wax. (Where'd that expression come from?) I also stick with lower reps/heavier wts. Other than my core, I didn't get all that much stronger last time. But then again, I never really do...

You've GOT to go on the next RT! You'll always regret it if you don't and never if you do. If DH can't drive to PA, could your MIL (she lives with you, right?) help watch the kids? Are there any friends you could farm them out to? I know you'd have no problem carpooling. How long of a drive would it be for you?

Any other chinnies planning to go the next time Cathe has a RT?
