chinese food

My boss sent all of us in the office an email saying he'll buy lunch tomorrow. It's a nice gesture, but I really don’t like to order out, but will. I heard someone mention Chinese food. Is that considered taboo for those of us watching what we eat? There isn't much around our office area to choose from.

Well, it all depends what you eat. If you have chicken balls and ribs and deep fried stuff, then yes, it's taboo. But if you go for the veggie stuff, and the steamed rice and nothing deep-fried, you should be okay.

Don't get anything too saucy (especially those with extra thick sauce -- that's a lot of cornstarch) or too seasoned. Anything lightly sauteed and steamed are good choices.

Lots of places where I live have a "diet" or "light" menu for those that are watching. Stick to veggies and non-fried food. It won't kill you if you don't have it often. Enjoy!

Most places have a "steamed food" section on the menu. You can get steamed veggies with or without any meat - chicken, shrimp, beef - and sauce on the side. Get brown rice instead of white and you'll have a clean filling healthy meal.

Chicken w/brocolli and Steamed rice is always my choice. You can even ask for extra brocolli to fill you up more. I also heard that any broth based soup is a good choice. Wonton (w/o too many wontons) or Miso soup. I'm not sure about the hot/sour soup.

The most important thing I think is to stop eating when you're satisfied, not stuffed. You can do this just fine. Enjoy yourself.:)

Thanks for the advice. I never eat Chinese food and am a bit unfamiliar with it.

My favorite chinese food dish is broccoli with garlic sauce but I'm sure the garlic sauce is probably no good for you....

I'm fanatical about my diet and for me on BFL, chinse isn't authorized. So I usually skip it and bring my own. But depending what plan you are following, you could probably find something that might fit.
