Chin-Up Check-In Wed 6.21

Oops regarding the frog. I was feeling the "life is a zoo in the jungle" quote today as my life is just running amuck today and I've given up and plopped here and the boys are now in charge and I don't care.

Tell your DD I'm sorry. I'll find something to go along with the new quote that she'll love. Ask her if there are any requests?

Melody, I cracked up at your intervention link (and your P.S. about you dying if the link worked) and then I read this thread again and laughed out loud some more. My son asked me what I was laughing at and I told him it was a little complicated and I'd have to explain later.

I'm no expert, because I am NOT a deadhangaholic, but I think there are 13 steps in overcoming this dangerous condition. As with everything, admitting the problem is the first step (which is why I'm not admitting anything - I DON'T have a problem), eating enough donuts is another, but I'm not sure of the rest. For some reason, Melody's link didn't work so I couldn't check it. Maybe one of the others has something to do with doing a perfect "Dreya Roll" like "Miss Perfect-Form Dreya" who lifts 5 lb dumbbells while the rest of us are lifting 20.:p

I'm LOL at the "Dreya" thread here...cause I felt the same way watching (notice not doing:p ) P90X. Bet Dreya doesn't know how to properly eat donuts.

Hey Sooosan, denial can be tough, I'll look up another link for you.:+

OMG, I am crying after reading all of this- laughing so hard I'm crying that is!!!!

Man, I really missed out on all of the fun today.

Actually, I had a really cool day. I am now officially trained to do Botox!!!! I love cosmetic dermatology!!!

Melody- You'll love core synergistics. Just be careful with your neck, I don't think too much will aggravate it. There are a few pushups and some other moves that you may want to be careful with.

I'm with Briee on the dead hang thing. I mean what really constitutes a dead hang anyway? I also hop up to the bar to start. I do pause for a second or two before starting so as not to use the momentum from the hop.

For all of you ladies who are working toward chinups. Honestly, something that helped me was visualization. I close my eyes and actually visualize myself doing chins. Last week when I got to that 4rth rep that was after two days of this. Then when I tried again on Sunday- I couldn't but I hadn't visualized. Tried on Wed after a couple of days of visualization and I did it. I know it sounds corney, but,.... It works for me. I have a couple of books that talk about atheletes training this way too with good results.

Hey Catherine

Got any specials on that Botox?:p These boys are causing way too many wrinkles. My youngest just handed me a bill for $40,000. He wants money to buy a new pickup truck.:+ He's 8 yo.

LOL!! A $40,000 truck for an 8 yo!!! Maybe I'll have a Botox party and invite all my chinnin buddies :+ :+ Surely I can get a good deal if I have a party LOL!!

Catherine

Melody....my dd LOVES anything with frogs. Got a frog chinnin?? Your 8yo is too cute - $40,000 truck - you are headed for trouble with that one.

A botox, chinin, donut party. I see a new wave of cultural entertainment sweeping the nation. All because of us....we are SO ahead of the times.

NOW...I must go get ready as I have many moms and about 20 children arriving in 2 hours. Beautiful day. I'm still up in the air as to which workout I will introduce them to. 2 of the moms are from the past class, but we also have some new ones. After all those beginner Cathe workouts, I was leaning towards doing a Turbo Jam mix up (I use the 20 minute and add Cardio Party 1, the last 15 minutes as it's just plain fun) or High Step Challenge (I viewed the High Step Circuit and it would work, but I don't like the music 1/2 as well). I didn't want to overwhelm the newby's with weights so I'm leanin toward TJ so they can see that this is "just plain fun". Hmmmmm. I'll check back to get your opinion before starting class...if I have time:7 :7 :7 . Have a great day guys.

Briee

Will the party take place in Hawaii?

Briee, you're right to just make it fun for the participants. I've never done Turbo Jam. I think the choreography should be pretty easy for the beginners to pick up too. Does TJ have easy choreography? I would also just stick with one workout for a couple of weeks and then move on so they feel successful. Have fun!:)

OK, so where the heck is Kathryn? I just know she has worked her way up to two by now. If I remember correctly she was up to 1 & 2/3s. U hooooooooooooo oh Kathryn, where are you????

Now HB hasn't been around for a few days either. I'm sure she's either doing pushups or chinups or both somewhere. Truly an inspiration that one

Hey, did we ever decide on a mutual meeting ground for the chinsters. Come on lets plan our own road trip!!!

Catherine

Hi Catherine,

I'm just waving to you. I see that Kathryn still hasn't shown.:)

About that meeting place, do you know a Dick's Sporting Goods that is located next to a Dunkin Donuts?

I've got a sick DS again. I don't know how Briee survived 6 children and chicken pox.

ETA: The boys have been doing their chins and pullups, may I count those?}( :p :+

Mel, sorry to hear your son is sick :-(

I think Briee is really an alien and that is why she can do all of those chinups, deal with kids being sick, painting rooms,......

Catherine

You may not count your boys chinups. But remember you are supposed to be taking care pf yourself!! BTW did you do Core Synegestics?

Catherine

I did not yet do CS, with being so tired and having a whiney achey DS, I barely got my regular w/o done.

:p to you about the boys' chins.

I'm off now...g'nite Catherine.:)

I'm being a slug!
It's too hot and humid, even in the house.
I just can't get myself to do my chin-up attempts much (last time, I was at 1 1/2... down 1/4!)
Blaaah!

Kathryn, I just started a new thread while you were posting this cause this one was getting so long.

It IS hot and humid, isn't it? (Although today's better here in VA.) I hate the way progress on these is so variable, much more so than with weight lifting. Same thing with push-ups - so frustrating!x(
