Chin-Up Check-In Fri 4.7

Soosan

Cathlete
I'm not sure if I did 7 or 8 10-ct negs because they're so hard I lost count! I'll put down 7 so if I do 9 next time, I'll be amazed at my speedy progress.:p

As far as regular chin-ups from a dead hang, I just pulled myself up to where I had a 90 degree angle in my arms, which is much better than usual. Funny, because I can pull myself all the way up when I start at a 90 degree angle, but I couldn't pull myself any farther when I got to that angle from a dead hang. Oh well, it's still progress. I think the 2-day rest is helping.

Off to do Yoga X.

Hey Soooooooooooosan!!! I know what you mean about losing count LOL!! Sounds like you are doing great!! Ya know on my 2nd rep I get stuck at that 90 degrees I pause, take a deep breath and try again. Sometimes I make it sometimes I don't :D

Today was back and legs for me. I did 2 sets of 2 and 4 negative chins and 3 negative wide grip pullups. I would have done more, but I got that pain again in my shoulder blade area. Only this time it radiated down my Right arm. So I just stopped doing any back and finished the leg portion. x( ;( x(

This check in has been so good for me. And I am impressed with everyones dedication. Can't you see a difference in your upper body?? It seems like for me everything has gotten better. My pushup ability, my Yoga balance postures (esp crane), my bicep curls,.... Love IT!!!

Catherine

Hi girls! I'm off to do some Easter basket shopping and will w/o this afternoon and report in.

We were at Dick's Sporting Goods Weds. and I "hung" each of my 3 DS on the pullup bar of a tower - they pulled up from every grip/angle and just kept going and going and going.....:p

Good for you for stopping. I think we need to be very careful with these.

It's been great for me too and I'm really impressed w/everyone as well. I can tell a difference in my UB - the way it feels when I'm doing other UB work and the way it looks - yay! I just did crane for about 17 seconds which is a new record for me. I used to be able to do it and then for some reason, I completely lost the ability. Could it be the chin-ups???

You are really motivating me with your successes, Catherine. I'm so glad you're part of the group!:)

Tell them I'm not speaking to them either.:p

Sooooooooooooosan

Not speaking to them, I'm not even feeding them!

BTW, earlier I meant to welcome Laura to the check in...WELCOME LAURA! But it's not fair you can do a chinup and I can't.
;( :7 :+

I guess I'll need to add her to my "not-speaking-to" list too.:p

OMG you should see the mental image I have of you and your Barrel o' Monkeys family all at Dick's Sporting Goods... LOL!!!! :7

I've THOUGHT about doing a pull up today. Does that count? ;)

You need to get thee to a playground and DO one, sister! It's a beautiful day in VA. What's it like where you are?

Ahhhhhh, thanks!!!! I'm totally impressed with your 17 second crane!!! Yeah, I went thru a spell where I couldn't do it either. I agree I think it's the chinups. But now I can do it even longer- but not as long as you. :p :p See we all have our strenghts and weaknesses. But I tell you what it is an amazing feeling to balance like that or at least it is for me. Everytime I do it I am suprised at myself!!!

Oh and Amy - NO thinking about it doesn't count;) ;) But still glad to hear from you.

Melody, so wish I could have seen you all at Dicks:7

Catherine

PS: shoulder is much better this afternoon

This check in is so good for me too!

Soooosan, I am the same as you with the dead hang and starting at the 90 degree angle. It still seems to me that I am never going to be able to pull myself up from the dead hang. I'll keep at this!

I was on my bike the other day and I went by a park. Stopped and did some 10-ct negs. Won't it be wonderful that if someday I can breeze through a few regular ones!

Joanne

ETS-I just tried the dead hang and I was wrong. I can't pull myself up hardly at all :(

You will one day if you keep at it the way you are. Incremental progress is still progress!

See above.:)

Uhhhhh, somethings missing. Oh yeah Miss Briee, U-Hoo, where are you???? I am sure she is doing chinups as we speak ;-)

Catherine

I am sooooo LOL at the mental image Amy and Catherine must have of me, DH and DSs at Dick's doing pullups on their "for sale" equipment. My w/o will be about 9pm tonight dang it.x( Will be thinking about, er, doing those negatives, you know, since I AM PRESENTLY CHALLENGED IN REGARD TO CHINUPS.:p

OHhhhhh major guilt trip Catherine, thanks a bunch. NO I am not doing chinups as we speak. I just said to dh...maybe I'll get up early and workout, it's so late and I'm tired, whine whine whine. I would NOT be working out at all presently if it wasn't for you guys. This is the biggest block I've had in 4 years. I don't know what my problem is, but I am deeply indebted to ALL of you for keeping me going!!

How fun, chinups at dicks with the family. Now honestly, what better family activity can you be participating in. You're a good mom Melody!!!

Okay I better go down and do those chinups now.

Briee

Oops...more welcomes to Laura....hey where is Laura...you didn't quit already Laura. If I have to keep doin um, you do too!!

Sooooooooooooosan...come on, tell her you're speaking to her, please!

Briee

Ok, did my attempts and nothing seems easier to me.

I did negatives: 4 sets with 8 ct down and 2 sets with 6 ct down. I'm not really resting between those sets. Hey, you that are "challenged" like me (well, if there are any of you), do you rest any between sets of negatives? Night w/o's are so hard for me anyway.

Later.:)

Melody...I can't imagine not resting in between negatives. Sometimes I think they are harder than plain old chinups. I take plenty of rest time between sets whenever I lift heavy or do chinups.

Briee

Oh, oh...well maybe I ain't doin' so bad with no rest.:)
I rest between sets when lifting heavy, but I guess I soooo want these chinup things done I try to fly thru it. I'll slow down.

We should gather the kids and meet at a Dick's Sporting Goods somewhere between here and there. Wouldn't that gathering be a hoot?

I'm still mad at those dang skinny boys of mine who can pullup endlessly. Maybe I should follow them around minute by minute day by day and see what "workout secret" they know that I don't.;-)
