Chin-Up Check-In Fri 4.7

Man, Briee! You really are amazing! What time did you start your workout? I am in no way a night person. If I don't start a workout by 5pm, I don't work out. Are you doing a rotation or just whatever you feel like doing on a certain day?

Who is this X - woman??? And more importantly how many chinups can you do - no wait that's not important. What IS important is how many of those donuts can you fit on your chinup bar, this will probably give us a clue as to how serious you are about chinups. ;) ;) ;)

And how about just plain glazed, got any pictures of those...I'm all for simplicity.

Sooooooooooooosan.....what kind of a rotation am I doing? Hmmmmmm, I'm sure there is a name for it. It's called the "I have been in an exercise slump, so when I actually DO workout (which lately has been along with chinups) I hit it REALLY hard and workout for a few hours rotation". Ever heard of that one? It's quite popular out east and word has it, it's the rotation to end all rotations - literally. Let's just hope it doesn't end here.

You know...once I do my chinups...I then feel like working out. The other day I did four and felt like I could hardly do the four, but then I got that tight feel in my muscles and I went on to do more and more and then I did a whole workout. Once I've worked out, I feel like doing another. Last night I started at 9:00 and was down there until 12:30. I did ME, chinups, stretches, xtra flies, on and on. Throw in a few Turbo Jams, etc. Today...I'm sore, but a good sore so I got up and did all my "fav intervals" which is a compilation of IMAX's and ends with SB full combo with blasts. If I can do something tonight then I just keep going. It happens when I take a break, then I start procrastinating and I'm sunk again. You guys are helping me tremendously because you keep me "having to be regular", somedays I wait until the next morning, but I know I have to do chinups 3 times a week. I really should be paying you all!!

You know one thing I should explain, the last four years have been pretty normal and I've always been part of a "rotation" so to speak, but this last year...we are adding an 1800 sq/ft addition onto our home - ALL BY OURSELVES, homeschooling, and adopted a 22 year old autistic nephew....I feel like I don't have time to breathe lately. So life is more than hectic. We plan to be pretty well finished June 1st, and I'm hoping that we can relax a little. Yesterday I mixed cement for the 16ft indoor stove/chimney to prepare it for the cultured stone and applied all the way up the ceiling. So I wasn't done until 9:00 pm which is when I worked out. This is how life has been almost EVERY day. So.. I know I'm making excuses, but I think this is why I feel like my exercise has become more irregular. NOT less intense, just more irregular. Seems I'm just so tired from the other stuff lately that I sometimes can't get it together. Used to be workout every morning rain or shine, and I trust it will be again. SOOOOOOOOOOOOON I hope (with 13 O's) - I just need to get through this period of time!!

Hi Briee,

I am this "X" woman, and here is your simple donut.

DH installed the chin up bar. I read several articles (Thank you) and went downstairs, put a chair slightly in front of bar, extended legs and tried to pull up my weight. It was tremendously difficult, I had to "help" myself with my feet. Perhaps reached 1/3 the way up. But I have the vision and the determination. Hey...anybody got pictures for proof????

Wow, Briee, I am impressed that you find time or energy to workout at all!! But when you do w/o look out  .

I do have a question. I did my 2 sets of 2 chinups today and I notice I am starting to lose my grip on the 2nd. Does this get better or improve over time? I am beginning to feel like I may not get beyond 2 because of grip issues x( x(

X- thanks for the donuts!!! Just hang out with us a while and you'll be chin'in(is that a word- I think not) in no time.

Hey Briee,

Sounds like building a house is a pretty good workout woman!!

I am happy to report that I have done absolutely nothing productive today.:) AND it's my workout "off" day (had to specify cause many people consider me to have an "off" day everyday).

Tomorrow I have a box of Cathe DVDs scheduled to be delivered. I have my DH's permission to hug the UPS guy, but I'll only do so if he's the cutie one.:7

Catherine, what may help is the exercise that Cathe does where you hold a pair of dumbells in your hands and rest your wrists on your legs and drop your hands and lift them up again. ALSO those squishy grip things - you know the ones that you "squeeze". I will have to check into that - these are only ideas I'm throwing out. I have trouble with my forearms hurting before my biceps tire. I did ME the other night and I got through the bicep segment, but my forearms were MUCH more fatigued than my biceps - guess I'll have to work on that.

X - woman....I love you! What a truly beautiful picture...words can't express.

I just came from a "fondue" party at church where I gobbled up stirfry veggies and fruit and everyone asked why I didn't dip the fruit in chocolate, yada yada yada. I think they all had the feeling that I eat healthy all the time - which I do frequently. BUT...then it happened. I spotted an open bag of donuts that someone left in the fridge - probably this morning - possibly a craving for donuts during the sermon(I completely understand). I could bare it no longer...I found a friend to be a partner in crime and we STOLE a donut from the church fridge, split it and ATE. (oh we microwaved it ever so slightly first). HEAVENLY. Now the guilt is hitting...all this in God's house no less. I believe I am sentenced to do a Kickmax Cardio Circuit tonight in restitution - maybe even a set of chinups}( }( }( }( .

Bad bad bad very bad Briee

Hey Melody....what DVD's are you getting???? I'm so excited for you!! Do hug the UPS guy - he'll understand. He's probably had it happen by thousands of other Cathe fans.

X, welcome to our check-in and thanks for all the donuts! In between all the silliness is a bunch of women determined to do (a) chin-up(s) or die trying. For those of us that can't do one and are doing negatives (Briee's idea), we will seek revenge on Briee if her method doesn't work. Then we'll have a "Revenge on Briee" check-in and you can join that too - only NO donuts in that check-in (part of the revenge).

You sure have a lot going on, Briee. I'd barely be working out either, except when I did, I'd never have the stamina to do it for three hours. You're just full of surprises. Are you definitely adopting an autistic nephew? When? How old is he? You are quite a woman! Don't worry about stealing donuts in God's house. I'm sure he wasn't looking..:p

Catherine, I, of course have nothing to advise about your grip since I CAN'T DO A CHIN-UP. I guess it will get stronger with practice too?

Melody, I want to know which DVD's you're getting too. Lucky UPS guy.

Hi chinup chickies.

When I get the DVDs I'll tell you what I got - can't seem to remember as I LOL at Briee breaking the "thou shalt not steal" commandment...in church.;-)

Also Briee, my youngest DS deals with high-functioning autism and CP. You're a good "donut" for adopting your nephew. My 3 youngest DSs are adopted.

BTW, I have a really sore left elbow and will not be doing chinup attempts today or tomorrow.x(

>Melody, are you icing down that elbow??
>
>Catherine

Yes, and it actually feels tremendously better today than yesterday.

I'm just popping in here to say hello to the chin-up chicks! What's with all this donut talk...donut pictures, donut stealing..in CHURCH no less:eek: !! You guys need to get to work here.--LOL!

Carry on;)

Michele :)
