Chest size

Bernard

Cathlete
Hello to all ladies,

I am currently overweight, and trying to lose it using a clean diet and Cathe's workouts, but I have a question to anyone who used to to be overweight and has successfully got to their goal. Did your chest size (in inches) go down ? I am just wondering, because pre-pregnancy I was 34", and post pregnancy I am 40" (and it drives me mad) ! I want my small chest back, and because I would never resort to surgery, I was wondering, will a clean eating lifestyle and plenty of exercise workouts, help reduce my bust/chest size ? By the way, I am not taking the pill or breastfeeding.

Many thanks

Anna

Hello Anna,

Yes, if you lose weight you will lose your bust with it because breast tissues is composed of fat. For me it's the last place to go though.

Hi Yen,

How are you ? Good day at work ? Weather is a bit grim up here in Nottingham ! Lovely Autumn weather !

Thanks for your reply. It is nice to know that they will reduce eventually. I read somewhere that fat on the body starts to disappear off your fattest area first, so if it is your tummy that has the most fat coverage, it will start to come off there first, and so on. I don't know if that is true or not. What do you think ?

Anna

Hello Anna,

I am fine, bumming around at work as usual. The weather is not very nice today is it? I was thinking of going out for a run after work, but not if it is like this. I am grateful I have something else to do.

From my own personal experience, when I was cycling I lost fat in my thighs, then stomach and then chest. I think because my chest is the most prominent that I really noticed it when I lose weight. What I am afraid of is sagging skin if you lose your bust. So far I have not noticed my body sagging though.

Some good videos to work out to if you have a lot of weight to lose is MIS, BodyMax and Circuit Max. I don't have the latter but I know that the best method in losing weight is burning fat and sculpting muscle at the same time and these tapes offer that.

You would have to work very hard to get to that level, but give yourself time a work out 5-6 days a week. Do either 3 weight sessions and 2-3 cardios or 3-4 cardios and 2 weights each week. You should always leave a day between each weight work out for your body to recover - say, if you do MIS today, tomorrow you do step aerobics, then the after you can do weight session again.

This is my personal rule.

Bernard - fear not! I too gain weight in my chest and when I lost 20 lbs I saw them go down in size (with a big sigh of relief). :)

Regarding losing fat in your belly first, this isn't necessarily true. I'm pretty sure (and I think Auqajock explained it extremely well in another post a while back) that your genetic makeup is the key determining factor in where you lose weight first. For me personally, I am genetically predisposed to store tummy fat, as much as I hate it. I lose weight EVERYWHERE else first, then finally my waist will shrink some. However, I still have that belly and have learned to live with it. Anyway, after all that rambling I'm basically trying to say that you may or may not lose it there first - depends on how your body likes to store it's fat. ;-) Hope this helps at least a little.

Thanks Lizzie for your advice. I always find that the fat starts to disappear off my tummy and thighs first, and then by that point, usually, I have reverted back to unclean eating habits, and don't progress any further. But, hopefully not this time, and I do want my bra size to go down !

Some of us wish we could gain a little in that department. Isn't it funny how we're never happy with what we've got?

I've been wondering if anyone's tried those so called "natural" breast enhancers - Bloussant is one I've seen advertised in my beloved M & F Hers.

Anyone?

I have found that my abdomen is the last place I loose flab and the first place I gain it back.
You might loose some breast size too. But if you don't, consider yourself blessed! Its all in our attitude!

Take time to enjoy those who matter most to you & do all things in moderation :)

I gave them a full 3 month trial and nothing happened. We (my husband and I) even took careful before and after Poloroid pictures so we could look for any hint of changes beginning but no luck. Fortunately I used a company that had a three month guarantee and I got my money back with no trouble. --Karen

Well, darn. My husband's one of those men who thinks "there's no such thing as too big." And unfortunately, I lost a cup size when I got off the pill. Oh well, he seems pretty happy anyway. Ha.

VERY naughty

AKirkland -

My mother is and has always been very petite. For better or for worse, I have always taken after the women on my father's side of the family - that robust Eastern-European peasant woman look, so I've always been more generously endowed, shall we say, than my teeny mom. And when I would tease her that "Well, mom, I guess my cup just runneth over" she would always counter with "Well, you know, Susan, more than a mouthful is wasted!"

Sometimes, I think men are just happy to get their hands on "the girls", and always seem kind of surprised that they are! Ha-ha!

I hope nobody thinks I'm perverted to share that story! I'm actually very modest - really!

Anyway, to answer the original question, after losing 24 lbs so far, and trying very hard to KEEP IT OFF (!!!), I did lose a whole cup size, from a D to a C. I don't mind though. I ride horses, and in riding dressage, you are required to sit the trot. No fun for the girls. Smaller can be very good.

Back to lurkdom.

RE: VERY naughty

Hi Susan,

Yep, I've heard the "more than a mouthful" line before. Even though my husband has that "the bigger, the better" mentality, he's actually been very understanding. Since he's known me, I've gone from a C cup (on the pill) to an A when I was very ill and lost a lot of weight. I was very self-conscious about the loss, made worse by the fact that I just looked and felt really bad at the time - but he was very accepting.

These days, I've leveled back out to a B which I think is "normal" for me. I agree - there are advantages to being on the smaller side. I had well-endowed college roommates that used to have to wear two heavy-duty bras when we'd go to high-impact cardio classes.

I started a new routine at the beginning of the year. In 8 weeks I lost over 3 inches off my chest and I didn't have that to loose! I started at 35" and am down to 31 1/2". My clothes fit better and I"ve always liked being small chested. I added more cardio and tougher strength training. It seemed to just melt off. Too bad it hasn't melted off my rear yet! :) This too will happen. S.
