::: CHEETAHS ::: Wed., 12/13

G'afternoon! I ended up doing L & G, it just seemed more appealing to me than GS legs! ;-) Then I did the abs/ planks from B & G.

We ended up just going to Kohl's this morning. I found a cute pair of exercise pants that are grey w/ pink stripe on the sides for myself (half off & I had my Kohl's cash to use- yeah!) & a few other gifts taken care of. But we had shopped around for a while looking for gift ideas and after waiting in lines we headed home. My little horsie (I mean Allison, but right now she must be called little horsie or she won't answer- LOL) was hungry & getting tired. We'll grocery shop tomorrow!! ;-)

Well, I have about 3 loads of laundry to fold & then my dd's will be home soon. Church tonight so I'd better get movin'!! Have a great night!

Hey there, cheetahs…
Just got home from work…it was a long day with meetings…tomorrow will be the same plus an observation…just trying to keep my ahead above water here, but I am feeling awfully tuckered today…I’m tempted to make it a rest day…

Sunny :: hope you got a nice burn with GS Legs…I suppose I don’t really *need* the calendar (and I don’t necessarily see myself using the stickers), but I thought it’d be a good daily reminder of my fitness goals. I think I oughta plaster it on the fridge, so every time I go to make a raid, I see Cathe’s buff bod!

Wendy :: yeah, I had to take a break from GS – as much as I love it, I know the variety is good. Cracked up about the muscles comment…I doubt that…but I do want to get more ripped in ’07. There’s still some pudge to burn… LOL about the calendar…Wow ~ you’ve got quite the intense workout planned today…That stinks about the new rule for employees…once or twice month seems more reasonable. Hope you had a good nap.

Shelly :: now you get a well-deserved break, right? Enjoy!! I don’t know if I can call it a true rotation, but yeah, I’m gonna do S&H for a week or two. I don’t mind the slow count too much.

Laurie :: sorry you’re becoming a big ball of stress over the dinner party…though I can’t blame you…I can understand why it would bring back a rush of heavy feelings…will your FIL be there? If so, that can’t help matters any…I hope you can find something to help you relax…maybe a spa treatment?…LOL ~ I missed Christine’s advice about the whack in the head with the silly putty hammer…if it works, send that down this way when you’re done. I got a dense one who could use a good hard clap to the noggin’.

Elaine :: getting up at 4:30 am the day after your birthday??? Wow! Yum on the ice cream cake…my personal fave. You could send some of that this way, too! *lol* Glad you enjoyed your day.

Christine :: <snort> a hyena calendar? This is why I love teaching 13-year-olds. :) I prefer GS, too…If you have a moment, I’d love to hear about your results with S&H. Refresh me…are the terminators the ones that combine the squat thrusts with mountain climbers?

Carole :: hope you had a good run in the rain and a good GS workout. I am the same about the massage therapist but just switched to a male GYN. I was hesitant about it (I always rationalized, how could a man truly understand what we go through?), but I like him.

Jess :: gift exchanges are so tough! We do one with my extended fam and this year it’ll be unisex. I wound up buying a Tanita digital scale which measures body fat and water composition. Not everyone in the family is health-conscious, but I thought enough are that *somebody* would like it. Is that a horrible gift—a scale?? Glad you’ve got the van back. ‘Course, now that you’ve got your heated seats back, you’re experiencing a heat wave! It was .63 to Canada from here, too.

Susan :: congrats on the weight loss…your clean habits are paying off!! I do like the sash pants…they’re cute…but I’m thinkin’ I can’t rock that look. LOL about the pervert comment. Nah. I confess :: I do the ice cream cake thing for b-fast. Man, now I’m cravin’ some Carvel!

Cathy,
You have my permission to take a rest day. You will make it up over the weekend. What is Carvel? Is this a treat that I do not know about?

Jess, Legs and glutes in a winner. That is funny about your litte one and what she wants to be called. I always have called my little one Mariah Muffin, but she gets upset with me now when I do that in front of her classmates or her older sisters. I don't want her to grow up
Well, I got my workout in. I did the elliptical for 55 minutes and some ab work. I have to say I am getting tired of the elliptcal. I MISS cathe cardio.

I had my regular massage therapy today and it felt so good. She said she can tell that I have been worked on. I was much looser and it was easier for her to seperate some of the muscles(glutes). That is good news. I feel so relaxed now. This will all change in about an hour when I pick up the litte darlings(LOL)! I think all my kids are ready for a break from school. They are such grumpy bums when I pick them up lately.

Anyway, I have to get my snickerdoodles out of the over and NOT eat them. I tell ya dieting sucks! Sorry for the language.

See ya later!

Susan

Why do restaurants give so darned much food? I went to that Thai restaurant - been craving it a lot lately. Ordered a combo for $6.95. It's soup, tofu w/ basil and veggie curry fried rice (no egg). the soup is as chocked full of veggies as the photos show, which shocked me - big pieces of broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, red and green peppers, etc. Very good. Then the other's come in as big of portions as the non-combo for the same price. I barely made a dent and I'm STUFFED. It's taken me 2 hours to eat that much. Oh well, lunch tomorrow (why am I complaining?).

Wendy - I guess that makes sense about the classes. Nice to know what you're talking about - eh? The step class at my gym is tough, but she calls everything so differently than Cathe, that my old (and pickled) brain cannot grasp them, so I end up tripping around my step for the most part.

Jess - sounds like some great deals!

Cathe - yeah, a hyena calendar. I can't find a calendar that has even ONE month with a Hyena, let alone 12 months. They don't have the same warm and fuzzies that puppies do I guess. I ended up getting her one with photos of poor dressed up dogs. It's quite funny - but why people do that to their poor animals, I have no idea.

I'm waiting for DD to finish her after school snack then I'm back to the errands. I went for a 4 mile run this morning and it was *much* better than Monday's run. I took it easy and was happy to see that I am back to normal as far as percieved level of exertion and actual running pace go. I think I'll try to get the 8 miles in this weekend.

Laurie, Not having ever been in your shoes I can only speak from the perspective of a family member of the deceased....I am so sorry that your sadness never goes away. That much I can relate to because I know that I will never not miss my brother and it is my intention to hang onto the relationship I have with his wife and kids. That is where his heart was and I am so afraid that if I don't do that then he might slip even further away. I just hope that as time goes on I am not causing any undue pain by being there and keeping in touch as much as possible. I never even thought of that aspect but I don't think it is an issue right now. My brother always was there or else called to see how I did in the longer races that I ran (you'd think I was the winner or something! He just cared and so was there....) So, when I got home from Sacramento after running this last marathon there was a heartbreaking message on the answering machine from my SIL. I could tell she was choking back her tears as she wished me luck and said that my brother was watching me. I was happy to report back to her that I carried a picture of him in my pocket as I ran and will always do so. Anyway, I have no idea what your husband's family is like. There are some members of my family that my SIL does not care to keep in touch with and I hope that you don't have to deal with icky people like those. I'm rambling here....probably because I feel so bad for you and so could probably go on and on and on saying not much of anything! In any case, I hope your dinner party is a success and that you come out on the other side happy that you did it!

I think DD is done with her snack now so I gotta go. For now...:7

Christine, I am officially retracting my 'jealous that you slept in' comment' 4:55 hardly constitutes sleeping in but I'm sure those extra 25 minutes were very nice. Faith and I had Thai last night, t'was yummy but like yours, a bit much for one sitting. She had her curried shrimp with noodles for lunch today.

Wendy, I think my opinion of yoga would be very different if I started by doing DVDs, the first few years I did yoga it was always in a studio or church hall and I sifted through a few teachers before finding the right challenge and pace then I trained and taught it myself. Bryan Kest is yummy and obviously a very successful teacher but sometimes I wish he'd lighten up a bit;-) Yeah, I taught BodyPump and BodyFlow classes for 3 years and it didn't make me love fitness any less, quite the contrary. The most I taught was 4 classes a week and I still worked out at home. I stopped teaching last spring because my massage appointment book was too full to fit it in. I miss it and think that if it's something you want to do then go for it!

Cathy, I'm thinking CouchMax would fit the bill for you, TequillaMax is never good the night before observation days, now if it was Friday....;-) Yup, FIL and his companion will be here, there will be lots of people to buffer him and I'll just keep busy so I'm okay with that. Boy, that silly putty hammer is gonna get some serious miles on it!!

Susan, I can't figure out what language you're sorry for, snickerdoodle or sucks;-) :) Just teasin':7 Glad your PT and massage is helping you so much, you've been in pain long enough!!!

Elaine, you hit it right on the head with 'sadness never goes away'. It took me too many years to just accept that. Of John's 5 siblings there's really only one I would be friends with, I was very close with his Mother until she passed away in summer '05. She taught me more about being a good Mom and wife by her beautiful example. John and his Mom were no nonsense loving people who selflessly wanted to help others, learn from them and share what they knew if they thought it might help. My FIL is pretty self absorbed and thinks that everyone wishes they were him. He's a very odd duck and most of the siblings are more like him. I think you are a much more sensitive person to have to worry about causing undue pain by continuing on with a realtionship that was natural and well established long before your brother's sad passing. That's so touching that your SIL would leave the message and shows her caring and affection for you. I didn't have a strong relationship with some siblings before hand and at times it feels very contrived when were together. I invited my best friend and her son to the celebration to balance things out for me. I know that the day will be enjoyable when I'm in it, I've been feeling a bit fragile lately so the timing was unfortunate. I thought about you after I posted and really appreciate that you addressed it, this is still so fresh for your family and I didn't mean to be insensitive to that. Grief is such a transient thing, coming and going at it's own will, your brother sounds like he was a wonderful human being, no surprise, his sister is pretty sweet too:)

I've got one more thing to bake then I'm all about the savouries, chat later :)

Take Care
Laurie

I'm baaack! I took the step class. Another week ticked off for my free memebership. ;) The class made me sweat and I only used the 4" platform because I had no idea what to expect. I could use 6" next time now that I am familiar with it. It was a good work out, yes, but I prefer Cathe's choreo. Ofcourse, Cathe is all I am currently used to so I guess it's unfair to judge. I would take that class again and that's a good thing cause the more options I have, the easier it will be to work it into my schedule and rotation(s)!:)

Well, I'm all sweaty so I need to take a shower. I am hoping to have a few minutes to come back for personals in a bit so I'll catch you ladies then!

Ciao!:*

I'm back for the last round of personals for the evening...:)

Jess: Three loads of laundry to fold. Sounds like me. I wash it all and dry it all and put off folding it as long as humanly possible! LOLOL I'm sure you probably fold it the same day though. I usually don't! :7 :7 :7

Cathy: OMG! ROTFLMAO! I don't mean to laugh at you, girlfriend! You know I love ya but you actually used the word TUCKERED!:7 I used it once in front of my DH and it was (and still is) the biggest friggin' joke with him! He thinks it's hysterical that anyone would use that word today! *deep breath* Okay, sorry about that outburst...I'm calm now!;) Change is definately good! Have fun with S&H! Yeah, the new rule at the gym is stinky but I'm rollin' with it...could be worse!

Susan: DH and I have many a nickname for Joey. I know the day will come when he will tell us not to call him any of them so we are taking advantage of the situation while he is still too young to care!:+

Christine: Enjoy your leftovers at lunch tomorrow!:9 The step class I took tonight was very different from a Cathe work out as well but not very complicated so it was easy enough to pick up but not so easy that I was bored either. :)

Elaine: Hope you finished all of your errands this afternoon!

Laurie: Thanks for the scoop on teaching group fitness! I am glad I was able to handle the P90X yoga today. After trying yoga in the past and not being able to get into it, I was very afraid I wouldn't be able to handle it. PHEW! :+ Sorry you had to quit the group fitness. Ever consider going back if time allowed for it?

Wendy :: what is this?? You're having a good laugh at me using the word "tuckered"??? Uh-hunh. I see how it is! x( ;) Glad I could amuse you. But please - you think THAT'S bad? You should've seen my students' faces when I used the expression "off your rocker" today. I was just telling someone how it's amazing I became an English teacher, growing up in a household with parents who spoke English as a second language. Until I was about 16, I had no idea "bosh*t" was not a real curse...(it's the way my folks pronounce "bullsh*t.") *lol*

I just finished S&H shoulders...will save chest & back for Saturday.

Have a great night, everyone!
Cathy :)
