.::. CHEETAHS .::. Tuesday

Wendi :: I can see why you'd want to go easy on the calcium ~ yeowch about the stones! Fantastic, though, that you can get what you need from natural food sources. Without my multi, I'd be failing a lot more!...Interesting that chiros seem to be into treating the whole body, not just the spine. Mine is the same--she has been pushing me to give up oats, but I just can't give 'em up!

Wendy :: welcome back today!

Today will be a run + WP Buns & Thighs.

Have a great day!

Good morning Cathy and all who wander into the den today!

And so it begins.... I've got a busy day at work show prepping and what not and then 2 days at the show, BLECH:mad:!!! At least it should only be 2 days this week and not 3.

I do have some good news to report. I *DID* actually hit my goal of dropping 5lbs by the July RT deadline...WOOHOO! So I'm pretty much at the upper end of my happy weight. Next goal...2lb more by the Aug RT which should be quite doable. The horse show should take care of that one for me;).

Cathy - Enjoy the leg torture today! Wouldn't it be great if the "normal" docs followed the chiros lead? I would find it incredibly hard to give up my steel cut oats...can't blame ya on that one. *LOL* if you saw how much I eat in a day you'd understand why it's pretty easy for me to get in everything I need:eek:. Some of the clients kid me about *always* eating.

Gotta get to work. I should be back tonight. Have a terrific Tesday everyone!

ETA: Wendy - Welcome back, darling! FYI, cuz you might miss it when catching up with posts. In case you want to hold onto your post count from the old forum you can email SNM and ask them to join the two accounts. Just give them the two usernames and they'll transfer your old post count over. The info is in the Ask Cathe Forum in a thread about what "we" want to be called (ie, member, jr.member, etc). HTH!

morning everyone! i feel "purple" today! love how easy it is to chqange the font, colors, etc.

wt-i am going to try and find some time to make the broth (brothmax?) today. i have all the ingredients and i figure it can't hurt. i did cave last night and had six pieces of cherry licorice, but i figure that's better than a pound of pb m&m's!!! i got on the scale this morning and the detox certainly did something because i "lost" about three pounds (probably water and...sorry tmi...waste). i ended up signing up for her total nutrition profile and was absolutely AMAZED at all th information. i think that her profile, suggestions, and recipes, along with the nutrition software will really keep me accountable.

wendi-maybe his name is because of a marking. i never thought of that. sorry your next few days are so hectic. just keep your eyes on the prize and know that you will be doing what you want to do soon. WTG on the weight loss. so, will you be coming to the friday morning step class in august? i hope so!!!

so, since i did weights yesterday, today will be some kind of cardio. i REALLY should do some step so i don't look like a complete idiot on the rt!!!

okay, so i had to change my avatar because i have THE CUTEST photo of my niece doing yoga. she's doing urdhva hastasana. how adorable is that?!?! i actually sent her two "yoga kids" dvds that she LOVES!!!

Good morning cheetahs. Busy day yesterday and the rest of the week will be quite hectic. My posts will probably become more erratic. We are moving into our new house Saturday but won't have any internet connection until Tuesday:( There is no cable there yet and no way are we going to use dial up ( way to spoiled for that now) so it's back to using satellite. We tried Hughesnet a while ago and weren't that thrilled with them so we will be going with WildBlue... I hope they're okay!

Today it will be more phone calls- arranging for our stuff in storage to be delivered, setting up utilities etc. I'll be heading down to the fitness center soon for a TM run- I'll be going for 4 miles today.

Cathy- That is great you can do a meetup after the step class!! Lookin forward to it:D All right... you have me really scratching my head here.
Why on earth would your chiropracter want you to give up oats? And since when were chiropracters nutrition experts anyway?

Wendi- Congrats on meeting your weight loss goal!! Are you planning on going to the Friday step class before the RT? Fabulous 10 miler run for you yesterday speedycheetah!! I hope your show days go well for you and aren't too tiring.

Lorie- Re: looking awkward at the step class... it's like what you told Wendy... take my word on it all eyes are indeed on Cathe. The very few times I scanned some at others they were all missing steps and in short, looking like normal people. Honestly, it wasn't difficult to follow! It should be a fun cheetah GTG afterwards!

Christine- Mindy's KBBC is a good one! I think you will really enjoy it. VERY challenging... especially the core work. There is a kickboxing segment afterwards tho that is led by some instructor who is supposed to be an expert... he was awful! However, the hour workout by Mindy definitely makes it worth your while IMHO.

Carole- Glad the air quality is better for you now... must be a relief!! How was the massage yesterday?

Karen- Great job on your TM interval run yesterday! I bet you are counting the hours til the weekend! With all the trips to NJ I've made over the years (my in laws live there) I've only been to Cape May once! One of these days DH and I will make it back there... it is beautiful!

Jackie- Sounds like a very relaxing weekend for you and your DBF:)
The BBC TM workouts are really challenging!!

Judy- I am so impressed with those mileage stats on your golf days! You are quite right... that definitely counts as a good hard workout!! Sorry your Monday wasn't a good one... sure hope Tuesday will be better.

I'll be doing some kind of step workout later... not sure what yet. Maybe KCMs cardio stepboxing.

tata

Tuesday musings

Hello Cheetahs

Today is going to be a better day. I have *some* of yesterday's issues worked out. The rest well, perhaps when my teens and 21yo mature.... (They really are good people, I just have high, old fashioned standards)

I will ask for prayers however. MY SIL has a mole that is a Melanoma. The details are still pending, but the dermatologist does feel it is early stage.

Lorie - I went tot he Gillian Mckeith web site and then immediately reserved her book ( You are what you Eat) at Borders to pick up today. I am anxious to go through it. Nutrition is such a fascinating topic to me; I really should have studied it in school.

Cathy- I am a big fan of super feet too. Perhaps your leg length discrepancy needs something different for running? I am always a little cautious of getting nutrition advice from a person who did not study nutrition, like a chiropractor. IA physicians are not trained well in nutrition, but that is why there are nutritionists in the health care profession.

Wendi- Why does your Chiropractor feel Oats are a bad food choice? I hope this weeks show goes well and the humidity doesn't present itself.

Gloria- When you talked about your BF's son. i thought of my own son. It would rip my heart out to see him go overseas with the military. He has a friend who is a Marine and is in Okinawa.

Christine- hey I figure the beer after you race was a recovery drink! LOL

Thommasina- How is DH healing after his dental ordeal?

Karen- What ever came of the tree?

Hi Shelly and Carole and Wendy if you are back.

Today will be The Art of Strength with the Kettle Bell. I will us a heavier DB for some of the exercises., since I only have a 10# KB so far....

I have to wait for a refrigerator repair person to get here. My Subzero 'fridge is leaking:mad: ( this would be a good place for tanturm girl) on my hardwood floor! ( Another one of y'days *issues*) So there will be no golf for today.

shelly-i am SO excited about hanging with the cheetahs after class. i think that may be the best part... good luck with your move. moving is SO stressful!

judy-i have "you are what you eat" and it is great!!! the one-day detox is on page 140. she also has a cookbook. gillian is very no nonsense and not as "high and mighty" as tosca. i paid the $29.95 for the three month membership and personal profile. i was absilutely AMAZED when i got my SEVENTY-SIX page profile with recipes and everything. i think that, along with cathe's nutrition software, will really jump-start me to be more health conscious. you should try and catch her show. it's called "you are what you eat" on bbc america.

Happy Tuesday Cheetahs!!

Wendi – great job on your ten mile run yesterday! Isn’t it wonderful when you set a new PR? WAY TO GO! Glad the split pants weren’t too “showy”. Thanks for the info on Potassium. I’ve been pretty good actually. HAVE to get my banana though or I’m sunk Hope lunch with DSO was fun! . GREAT job on dropping 5 pound!! “Enjoy” the horse show.

Carole thanks DD15 passed her test, so she’s happy. The race was a blast. As I said, it’s not a race to set a PR, but if you like to do a nice jog and people watch, you cannot beat it! Glad the smoke is staying away!! It IS too bad about Yosemite. I see ‘Lil Smokey has made the OD. He’s been all over the news here as well. Poor little guy.

Karen – Good job on the sprint intervals. I’m going to the beach next week, too. We’re heading down to see my dad in North Carolina. My sister will be there too. Dad lives on the Outer Banks. Have fun!

Cathy – Yes, I did enjoy SZ – it was fun. I am starting to see why people think it’s off beat, but it didn’t bother me. I love the workout still. I have gotten A’s in potassium, but I’ve added spinach and almonds. Those seem to help a lot! :p I add spinach to my eggs in the AM. Love spinach. :p Why is your Chiro pushing you to give up oats? I’m just curious. I was surprised at how well balanced my diet really is. I had to add a few things, like flax seed and wheat germ to my yogurt, but not too much.

Jackie – I get a blister on the bottom of my foot every time I run any distance, unless I have brand new shoes. I’m used to it. :p It’s already feeling better. The Yosemite fire is a new one, unfortunately. The others have been under control. Hope the breeze continues to come off the ocean and we’ll have clear air.

Judy – I’m sorry your Monday was not a good one. Great job at taking it out on the dust and dirt and not food, like I would. I LIKE the way you think about the beer after the race. The scale did not say I had too many calories, so I guess that’s okay. ;) Prayers to your MIL. I hope it’s early stages! I’ll keep the fingers crossed too.

Gloria – Hope you have a good day today!

Lorie – Glad you enjoyed the race report. The run was a good time. Nothing like running and people watching at the same time! :D Good luck with the new “diet”.

Shelly – Oh, how exciting to be moving into your new house! I’ll bet it will feel sooo good to be settled! Then it’s just to the end of September and you can move home for good. I didn’t think there was a place on the planet where cable did not go. I’m so happy to hear about Mindy’s KBBC. I’m excited to get it!! It came up on the DVD Swap, so I am not paying for it. Enjoy your workout!

The bottoms of my feet are sore today – go figure. I’m weird. The blister is fine, just my feet. Oh well, I’ll work with that by doing a Spinervals. I’m thinking Hillacious – I’m in the mood for the rolling hills. Then over lunch, my coworker and I are going to do Power Hour. I’ll have her go very light. The count down is on for my trip to North Carolina! I’m getting excited to be off work for a full week!!! Yeah! Have a great day all!

Oh dear. *lol* I'd better clarify. My chiro isn't giving me nutritional advice. I am allergic to oats and it affects my sinuses, which she somehow always detects and treats.

Wendi :: congratulations on the lbs. lost!! Awesome! See--there's a bright side to that horse show, after all. :) IA with you re: the chiro. I really like the fact that they are anti-drug.

Judy :: Sorry about your SIL's news. Hope she'll be OK. Glad the other issues are on their way to being resolved.

Shelly :: wow! Things are moving quickly. Hope you can that internet connection sorted out. Enjoy your step workout of choice.

Lorie :: congrats on the successful detox! Red licorice isn't bad at all as far as getting a candy fix. Very cute new avatar!

Christine :: what do you think caused the sore feet? Would you mind PM'ing or emailing me a sample meal plan for the day? I would love to see what one of yours looks like. Big congrats to DD15!

Ran 4 miles and am downing the last of my milk here before I do WP. BBL!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I have another day like monday today, except no massage..:)..Enjoy your run and Pilates workout.

Wendi..Yes, this is the 1st time I have ever run in Brooks and I sure am SOLD!! I was leery about Facebook too but you can set your privacy levels HIGH and I only interact with my friends on my list! Wow, I did not know potassium was in so much food. Way to go on your weight goal! I bet you will have a blast on the RT! Hope your busy days are not too bad.

Lorie...yes the smoke situation is better, yesterday was a beautiful blue sky day, the 1st in 35 days! Good job on no candy yesterday. Chips has always been my downfall. I wouldn't worry about stepping at the RT, there are so many people that no one really watches as you are trying to get the steps!!

Shelly..wow no internet for 4 days!! YIKES!! I was curious at one point about Hughesnet, glad I didn't try it. Luckily we have a broadband connection that you just plug into your PC and use no software!! The massage was great.

Christine...Congrats to DD15! Wharf to Wharf does sound fun! Have fun with Spinervals. Hope PH is fun with your co-worker. Wow, a week off, how nice...:)

Karen..good job with the intervals yesterday. I have not been doing much speed work since the smoke had invaded, but hopefully I can soon.

Jackie...are you doing a 4DS rotation? It was the 1st total blue sky day in 35 days here yesterday!!

Judy...sorry about your awful Monday. WOW, yes I agree golfing 18 holes is not resting!! My prayers for your SIL. So did the leaking damage the hardwood?

The massage was great. My MT always says she feel like "she beats be up" when she massage me, but I revert to an old phrase "no pain, no gain"!! My body feels so good this morning.

I am going back to heavy legwork and doing pyramids with deadlifts, exts, curls and calf raises. Then a mish mosh of IntervalX and PlyoX. I am off today so it'll be a cleaning day and playing with the doggies...

Have a great day...:)

Carole :: Glad that massage left you feelin' right as rain. I know you'll be thoroughly enjoying Monday part two. :) :) :)

Christine :: Out of curiosity, I deleted my multi-vitamin from the meal plan and did better than I thought I would. Mostly As, some B's and C's with the exception of potassium. But with a few more tweaks (some of the custom foods didn't have the K information), I am getting a C finally! :) Now I still need to get my sodium down...

I noticed Scrabulous is down on Facebook. For anyone interested in playing but not interested in Facebook, here is www.scrabulous.com. It's free to sign up and play, and you can play games via email or solo, if you wish.

OK, off to knock out WP.

Hi Cheetah Gals!

I'm trying to wake up before I start my workout. The kids are still sleeping. They've been going to a night time VBS. Getting to bed between 10:30-11P. At least we don't have to be anywhere this AM.

I wanted to say thank you all for the ((((HUGS)))), prayers, kind words, etc. I really appreciate you girls!! (((HUGS))) back at you.

Y-day, I did a 35 min iCycle workout, iStrength for legs (good one and only 20 minutes!), and Tracey's Core Conditioning (approx 20 min). Today, will be the EXT and upper body.

I'll catch up with personals when I come back, but wanted to give Judy (((HUGS))) and send prayers your way for you sil.

whew! workout done! i ended up doing lis once and his twice. i was gong to only do his once, but when i did it the first time, i noticed that i REALLY needed to brush up on a lot of the steps...so, practice, practice, practice. lis i have down. i think that's my favorite one. off to report to the workout calendar. i LOVE checking the "completed" box. also, i noticed that the automatic calorie counts for the activities has been pretty accurate (maybe off my 10-20). i wear a hrm, so i know the exact numbers and was surprised they were so similar.

christine-odd about your feet. the bottoms of my feet get sore when i wear high heels (because i hardly ever do). did you wear different shoes yesterday?

wt-that's what i was thinking when i was totally jonesing for a sugar fix. i took the best of the worst. isn't gina a total cutie (not that i'm biased AT ALL!)?!?!

carole-so glad for the beautiful skies you experienced. i am going to try and do step this week to familiarize myself, but i'm not going to really worry about it. for me, it's more about being with everybody.

dallas-mucho mucho hugs and good vibes to you. i think about you and your family all the time.

okay, time to go have my gillian breakfast and tea! :)

Hello everyone.

Sorry I didn't get back for personals last night. DH didn't end up fishing and we were busy with some yard work and then had a campfire in the backyard. No workout, but I did sweat quite a bit cleaning up the yard. :)

Cathy: Yes, this is the same BF whose daughter went to China. They are great people. Her son is going to bootcamp in Texas. He has signed up for four years of service. It is a scary, but admirable job. He was having some trouble finding his way in life. I am proud of him for making this big decision. Enjoy your WP and glad you got the run in so early. Sounds like you are doing a good job with the eating so far. Congrats to you! That is not so easy to do sometimes. I eat a lot more in the winter.

Wendi: I can see a light at the end of the tunnel for you! I hope the shows are successful for your team. I did watch NFNS with my BF the other night. It got her mind off her DS a little. I am not happy Lisa did not win, but Aaron will do a nice job I am sure. Lisa was definetly the best cook on the show. Her food was classy and always good. Congrats on dropping those five pounds!! I think most teachers have big hearts. Thank you. :)

Lorie: I tend to think think think things over in my mind until I can put my mind at ease with situations. My first reaction is usually irrational and I panic. Not a good quality, but I am working on it. :) You will be fabulous at the RT! IA everyone will be looking at Cathe. You will be surrounded by regular folk. Enjoy the cardio today!

Shelly: We can't get cable where I live either. DH works in town though and the shop is equipped with wireless Internet. I am so happy you are moving in to the new house. You will make some good memories there I am sure. You are right about the military. Thank you. What branch was DH in? Sorry if you already told me. My DH's dad was in the Army. DH has one of his jackets that he wore in Vietnam that is dear to him. He is such a great man. I love him like he is my own dad. Sometimes I think I am over the top with my sensitivity. I look forward to you being back in the den on a regular basis.

Judy: I do not have children, but I can imagine how painful it would be to send them off to do such an important job. Sorry your day was not the best yesterday. I have that book You are What you Eat. I read it a long time ago, I might revisit it sometime soon. I did a five day liver detox last summer using Dr. Schultze's products. I could not wait to eat real food again. Hope your day is better today.

Christine: Fantastic you will be on vacation next week! What a great place to do it too. Will the whole family be going? It must feel good to know you are on track with your nutrition. Sorry the feet are hurting.

Carole: It is good to hear that the massage is leaving you feeling great. I have run in Brooks a long time ago and I remember being pleased. The right shoes mean everything to runners. I was running in Asics when I had my stress fracture and even if it is psychological, I will never buy another pair. Enjoy the legwork and X cardio.

Dallas: You got it girl! I went to VBS when I was a kid and remember it being so much fun. I bet the kids were whipped! I hope you have a good EXT workout today.

Today will be a run to just the music on my ipod. I run well with my tunes, faster than with the itreads. Like I said yesterday, I appreciated the hugs yesterday, but felt guilty since there are others who need them more than me. It was very sweet though. Thank you. Have a great day everyone!

Good Afternoon Cheetahs. Today was a strength training day for me. I did a Kelli Roberts Body Bar tape which is one of my oldie but goodies.

THE TREE SAGA CONTINUES: So they never came yesterday. Dh came home and he called the electric company. They said they sent someone out ( someone who I never saw mind you) and they said they surveyed it and it is a PRIORITY Job. They told me to call today between 8-5 to find out when they are coming and what time the power will be cut off. So this morning I call and they have absolutely no clue what I'm talking about. HUH!!!! What about everything they told dh yesterday. Anyway they said the head of forestrey would call me who seves my area. Unbelieveably he calls. Tells me he never came but will be out today and then he will let me know when they are coming to get it off the power line. Mind you I live on one acre, the house beside me has two the man behind me has 10 acres. Not a busy street but tons of trees. I'm sure we would knock out the streets down the way from us though. It's now almost 12 and still no guy. Go figure. Apparently Priority does not mean the same thing to me and the electic company. LOL

Cathy- Hope you have a great day today. Nice 4 mile run.

Wendi- Congratulations on dropping the 5lbs. I know you can do another two by the RT. Your so lucky to get to go.

Lorie- Let me know how the broth taste. I saw the recipe last night and it sounded great.

Shelly- Now I have gone to Wildwood my entire life but have only been to Cape May the last few years. My parents never went but since dh and I have been going to Wildwood we always go there. The kids love the lighthouse and the neat little shops. That is where I did the Ocean Drive 10 miler. You got to go over all the bridges from Cape May to Sea Isle City and you got to run the boardwalk. If I had tons of money we would retire there in a heartbeat.

Judy- Prayers to SIL. I'm glad it's early. As for the repair man I hope you have better luck then the electric company. I remember one time last year our fridge went up and the guy took a week to get here. We lived out of coolers. Then he said we needed a new fan. Well he left and the next day the fridge still didn't work. He came back three days later to tell us he put the fan in backward. Good Greif!!!

Christine- I bet you can't wait to get away either. My dh is going to SC in Jan for a golf trip with his brothers and friends. I think I remember you saying you had family in Bel Air near me at one point. One of these days will meet up.

Carole- i don't blame you on the speed work with the smoke. I have a hard enough time with clean humid air. Enjoy you day of cleaning and doggie playin.

Dallas- VBS- My girls had VBS back in June at two different churches. Normally one is in July but this year they were back to back. Two weeks straight. I'm telling you it made for some long nights but it's well worth it. They just love it.

Gloria- Did some gardening myself last night while dh washed the car for vacation. It must be a man thing because I would think you would wash the car when you get home from vacation. Anyway the weeding last night tore up my legs with mosquito bites. Those suckers love me.

Off to make some lunch.

Good morning Cheetahs!

Judy - That was quite a run for you yesterday! Glad it was calming for you! Glad today will be better for you. Will definitely say a prayer for your SIL! Do hope they caught it early. How awful that your fridge is leaking on your hardwood floor.

Lorie - How did the one day detox turn out? I like that you don't have to fast. I'll have to check the book out. I need to get to the library more often. It's right up the street too. Good job resisting the candy. That potassium broth sounds like it would make a good vegetable broth for cooking other things. Hmmmm! Your niece is a cutie doing yoga. Starting young is good.

Cathy - DBF's cousin and his family were visiting from Chicago. Friday night we went out to dinner and down on Beale Street. Saturday, they wanted to go horseback riding. I wasn't interested in that. They did get to see the Peabody Ducks. Sunday we went out for brunch. It was nice. I had a veggie and goat cheese fritatta. Why does your chiro not want you to have oats? Gotta have my oats 2-3 times a week. Just read your explanation. Thanks. Good job on the 4 miles. Kids will be going to school here next week.

Wendi - Mondays what can you say about them but yuk! Hope work is not too bad for you this week. Maybe it won't be too hot. Congratulations on losing the 5 lbs!!!! Good luck with the next goal too.

Shelly - Glad you're getting to move in this weekend. I could only get dial up with my regular phone company when I moved. So, I decided to go with my local cable company for internet service. It's even faster than DSL. So far, I haven't had any outage problems like I did with DSL. Thought about going with Hughes but didn't want to pay the price. Don't blame you for not wanting to go with dial up. It's much too slow. Good luck with all you have to do.

Christine - Congrats to DD on passing her test! Thank goodness you're use to getting blisters. I'm always afraid of getting another black toe. It has scarred me for life.:D Keeping my fingers crossed for the clear air. Makes you appreciate some things more, huh? Hope the feet feel better and you and co-worker had a good workout.

Carole - Another day like Monday! Does that mean no DH too? LOL!! Only doing 4DS this week. I have no idea what I will do for August. May need some new motivation. Glad you got to see blue sky yesterday! Yippee!! Glad you enjoyed the massage so much. My mouth is watering. Enjoy your workout, cleaning and playing with the doggies.

Dallas - Kids enjoying VBS? Nice workout yesterday. Enjoy the EXT and UB workout today.

Gloria - I'm behind on what you're going through but I'm sending prayers your way still. Think there are enough prayers to go around for everyone. So, don't feel guilty.

Karen - Good workout today! Hope the tree saga is over soon. Don't you hate sitting around waiting for people to show up? Oh, no, men have to have their vehicles looking good before and after vacation. At least, that's the way it is with DBF. Heck, he may wash his vehicle while he's on vacation too.

Today's workout was iTread #26 30 minutes and 4DS Shoulders, Calves and Core. Can't believe how sore my core is from doing 4DS Chest & Back yesterday. Must be from the pull overs.

Bye for now!

Jackie- Too funny. My dh just called and asked if we had anything to do tonight becasue when he gets home he wants to wax the car.

Hey Girls.

Got back about 30 mins ago. Doing the unpacking thing but wanted a rest with some java so ofcourse I sat down in front of the PC. ;)

Vacation was fun. Too short though. I could have used one more day. Oh well, I guess that's always how it is, right? LOL

I did not work out on Friday the day we left but I did a f/b kb work out including cardio (circuit style) on saturday, a 3 mile run on sunday and a f/b kb work out this morning but no cardio. Each work out was only about 30 minutes but most would do NOTHING, right? I was supposed to w/o y'day and rest today but we were busy y'day since it was our last day there and we knew we were leaving early today to head home.

I'll be back after I'm done unpacking. I will probably start up with personals again tmrw though!
