::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Tues., 2/27

Wendy :: no, we didn’t have any delays…the roads were clear by morning…I hate that when you wake up and can’t fall asleep again – that happens to me fairly often…I can COMPLETELY understand your anxiety about diving into a new career….When I decided to become a teacher, I was working FT for the government and going back to school PT to obtain my certification…It was long road getting there. When you sacrifice five years of your life to get somewhere and all your hopes are riding on it, there is sheer terror when you actually take that first step. Especially since, in my case, I had to student teach and live off of my savings for a number of months. Failure at that point would have been devastating. But I think you’ve got the winning combination for success :: you *know* your stuff, it’s a passion for you, and you’re a people person. You’re gonna ROCK!!

Marcia :: WOW on all that snow!!! Though I used to be a morning exerciser and am generally a morning person, my teaching schedule would require me to bust some butt waaaay too early for my body to handle it. I can sit here, drink my tea, read the paper, and catch up on emails or the forums, but coordinating four limbs at this hour for a major sweatfest – it rarely happens. I need a little time to slowly wake up and get my day going…I feel your frustration on the scale not moving…I seem to be losing *very* slowly now, but remember :: the measurements are a better indicator. Results are on the way!! BTW, are you keeping a food journal? I think you probably are if you're doing WW, but just checking. That definitely helps me keep more on track.

Gayle:: glad you’re feeling back up-to-snuff. Great job on the pushups!! Let us know how you like the new iTread workout.

Christine:: nope, no snow day for me. Woulda been nice.

Barb :: I don’t know if you will read any posts this week (it didn’t sound like you would), but just in case you drop by…have a great week & good luck getting all the loose pieces in order this week. I get easily distracted on the computer, too, when I *should* be working instead.

Judy :: that’s great for DD ~ she’ll have a gorgeous set of teeth at 16!…I think being a parent is probably the toughest job in the world – you’re at it 24/7!! So, I am always amazed by how much exercise every cheetah fits into her busy day!! Sometimes the time crunch annoys me, but then I think that I am doing a helluva lot more NOW (in the past year) than I was for a number of years when I was, unfortunately, on a hiatus from regular exercise. I didn’t know how to fit it in, and for awhile, I was always getting sick. It’s hard to juggle it all. There never seems to be enough hours in the day. Hope you had a good TM run or EXT workout. How did it work applying the Chi principles?

Mattea :: hey, welcome back! I am in week two of Phase 1 – Classic. You are not alone in your feelings on the dreadmill – I have had to force myself to use it this winter because of the dreadfully frigorific temps we’ve had, but anything beyond 45 minutes makes me go out of my mind.

Carole :: I ate them when I was a kid but haven’t had one in ages and *won’t* be indulging ~ was just making a funny about craving one :) ….Oh no! Sorry to hear the pain’s traveled to your hip now. Hope that can be nipped in the bud!

Sunny :: wow, that’s an early start to your day!

Linda :: Approximately how long are the Fluidity workouts? That’s funny that you remembered that one small thing your mom did for you when you were sick. I remember when I was a kid and was home sick once, my uncle came by with a BOP magazine and a pack of Tastykakes. That really made my day.

Shelly :: the paper marathon is not yet over, but I can see the finish…hallelujah!! *lol* Yes, I have done ARX twice now, and I agree, I feel it in the hip flexors, too. Does that mean I am doing something wrong? I definitely can’t do everything or keep up with those guys, but I do what I can…the Mason twists seem to hurt my lower back. Great job on the L&G Blast after a run!!!!

Kristi :: what are you doing now for u/b?

Susan :: ((((HUGS)))) Don’t feel bad about Mariah’s infection…that can happen. I’m sure she doesn’t mind staying home with mommy and enjoying the milk & cookies!! My February rotation (which I scrapped last week for the X) was calling for 3 days of cardio – usually at least two of those were runs. The other cardio was k'boxing. Now that I’m doing the X, I only did two days of cardio last week (only 1 run), but ideally, I’d like to get in 3 days still. I would love to be able to do 3 runs and 1 k’box, but with everything else on the rotation, I’m not sure I have time for all of it. *lol* I cracked up when I read about you cleaning before the cleaning lady came over!! Too funny!

Jess :: what’dja think of the movie?

OK, I think that's everybody who posted y'day. Hi to anyone else who drops in. Have a great day, ladies!

~Cathy :)

Those who indulge...bulge!

Hey gang:

Cathy - Actually, no, I haven't been keeping a journal of my eating. I was trying to go by eating only when hungry and clean stuff when I do. So, I guess, maybe I'm not eating enough for all the exercise I'm doing (find that hard to believe) or I'm eating too much. Here's a typical day.

Breakfast: Smoothie with banana, little peanut butter, flax seed, skim milk, ice cubes

Snack: yogurt, string cheese or a protein bar

Lunch: salad, carrots w/dip

Snack: same as snack above or natural almonds

Supper: lean meat, veggie, sometimes a potato?

Does that look so bad? Anybody have any insight???? Thanks. :)

Gayle - do you still do Weight Watchers? Flex or Core?

I never got in KenpoX because after coming home from my meeting I was just cooked and wanted to relax with DS since I hadn't seen him all day. So - today is the day - KenpoX on tap.

Trying to wake up this morning, is a little tough x( I could use some more sleep.

Take care, Marcia.

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Cathy: OMG okay, can I just say that I can't even begin to tell you how much I respect you and how in awe of you I am!!! Working f/t and going to school to obtain a degree at the same time is something I could NOT do! I am lucky I am able to put my mind to this certification I am doing! THEN to have the $$$ and the nerve to quit a good paying job to student teach and have to live off of savings??? You are amazing!!! What a scarey time for you! WOW! You did it though and I find that totally amazing! My hat goes off to you girl!

Marcia: Everyone is different BUT if ya want my 2 cents on the matter your food looks a bit on the light side personally. Here's how I tend to eat in an average day:

1)bowl of cereal w/ff milk or oatmeal w/ff milk and p/b or a ww bagel w/pb

2)protein bar or the like

3)turkey and cheese or veggie burger sandwich on ww bread w/lite mayo and a piece of cheese

4)protein drink: skim milk, natural p/b, banana, protein powder

5)option from #3 that I did not eat for lunch

6)dinner of poultry/fish/meat, veggie and starch (this dinner is usually half way between clean and unclean since DH has to eat it too! LOL)

7)bowl of cereal

There are tons of sites out there that will help you to figure out the cals you should be taking in to maintain your weight and then what your deficit should be in order to lose weight. You may want to check one out and then compare the #'s and make adjustments accordingly. Just trying to help a fellow X-lover! :) :+ :)

So today is a 20-30 min run after work and then core syn at nap time.

My weekend away is coming up fast. I'm getting very excited! I just want to leave NOW NOW NOW!!!! LOL :p

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks a bunch, Wendy, I appreciate your comments and ideas. I'm so excited for you and your weekend coming up. I hope there is no weather problems in your way. We are suppose to get another 6+ inches of snow with freezing rain starting tomorrow night and going into late Friday x( YUCK! I think DS and I will be going to get groceries today so we are left in the cold (no pun intended ;) )like last time.

We are planning and weekend at a hotel with another couple this weekend, too, so I hope nothing gets in our way. We need a break from work and need to just go out and laugh!!! :7 :7 :7

Marcia.

Oooh Marcia, I hope you have a fun getaway this weekend! Sounds awesome! I can't believe you are expecting more snow....okay well, I actually CAN considering where you live, LOL, but I guess I just can't imagine it since I've never lived in an area that got so much before. I guess it's all relative though because as you said, you adapt and your state is surely MUCH better at dealing with it then mine is! LOL

Susan- you are on a great path now with your workout s and no ill effects :)... I am a big Windex user too, but am starting to add Method products. There was a post a while back about cleaning green and Jes mentioned a product called Mellaluca. But if it doesn't smell great I won't use it... How is Mariah's face today?

Christine- Did you enjoy the Viper? That DVD has great challenges.

Wendy- Your plan for the week looks like a good one. Do you wonder if all the strength training with the X has increased your appetite? You'll probably get good results with increasing your cardio and careful food choices. You have done well in that category as I recall. You are so nice to be available when work needs you; now if they reciprocate it would be nicer..

Carole- I am in your boat with the pain, dang it. I do think that chi running technique will help (after I get rid of the hip inflammation) If you are so inclined or if your library has it pick up the book. The method claims to give pain free running. It was difficult to get the method down on the TM but I did manage some what y'day. But for now I need to stay away form impact too.

Cathy- did you finish grading those essays? It never ends does it? Thank you for the parent recognition. My DH has always been supportive of my choice to be an at home Mom. Although lately I have been toying with the idea of grad school. I just don't know if it will mess up our current family harmony. It might be fun just to take a few classes though.

Marcia- I looked at your food intake and from what I can see, a few more veggies/ salads might round out things like a salad at dinner every night. I did WW for years, but I found myself getting too caught up in the numbers. If you ever want a fresh perspective ETL or South Beach.... But I just say ramp up your fruits and veggies and ramp down the empty carbs.

I've got to get DS to the bus stop; I hope to get back later.

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

GOOD MORNING TO EVERYBODY! Isn't this snow and ice gorgeous? KIDDING! I'm just trying to hang in till Spring, although our winter hasn't been anywhere NEAR as bad as some of you Cheetahs!

Snow tubing last night and it was FUN! I didn't expect the speeds that we were sliding down the hill! It looks much slower when you're at the bottom of the hill and watching others come down! LOL

Last night I bought a new audio workout for my mp3 player. I bought an iTread workout. I bought an hour-long workout and I did it this morning. I followed the numbers/speeds for 'joggers' as opposed to 'walkers' or 'runners'. I logged 5.5 miles and came off that treadmill dripping with sweat. (I was really hoping for 6 miles, as that's what's on my schedule today, but I'll take it!) I will do this same workout later this week, but this time following the 'runners' numbers. It was GREAT and the music was awesome! I really liked it. I didn't even feel like I was running! The music just picked me up and swept me AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I'll definitely buy another one soon. I'm going to use that as a reward for something!

OK...must get going. I've got a load of laundry to fold and then I'm off to babysitting!

Marcia-yes, I’m still following WW food guide, and I do Flex with the main focus on clean foods. As for your typical food day vs weight loss. I find that when I don’t eat enough, I hang onto the weight. We’re doing tough workouts here. It requires calories in our bodies in order to sustain the high intensity and still create a deficit. Oh, what do I know? LOL. I just know that when I eat my points PLUS the points I earn during exercise PLUS my extra weekly points, I lose. Go figure…eat more to lose! LOL What are your plans for buying X? I'm not sure on the rules of these boards to see if anyone's selling anything. Do you visit the YaYa boards at all? That's where I bought my set!

Wendy-sorry, but please remind me where you’re going? I want to be sure that I can live vicariously through you the entire time! LOL

Hi, Judy & Cathy!!!!!

Gayle

ETA: Oh.....I just came back real quick to let you guys know that there's a post in the Open Discussion talking about iTrain workouts. There is a link in that thread for a promo code for one free iTrain workout. Needless to say, I went and got myself one free iTread workout. SO make that 2 iTreads that I own now! LOL The code is YL2007.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...have you done PlyoX yet?...you can modify most of the moves to protect the knees. The hip is much better. Had a few Chiro adjustments yesterday, and both my nephew and the other Chiro think this is lumbar related. So I was good and iced yesterday...:)...I knew you were kidding about the Twinkie....

Marcia...have fun with KenpoX today! As far as your menu, you might sub a salad for the potato at dinner. No, I don't think potatoes are very bad, but if you are very interested in what the scale says you will loose weight faster if you cut out those kinds of carbs for awhile...just my opinion.

Wendy...enjoy Core Syn and a run.

Judy..I have read a bit about Chi running....tough to change my style now! But then again change can be good! This pain is really no fun. I plan on adding stretching to my workouts everyday this week.

Gayle..glad you liked iTread! iClimbs on my EXT are so much fun...:)

I am doing BM2 minus the upper and abs. The pain in my glute feels better today and I won't run til thurs.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning!

Cathy - The Fluidity workouts are:
Advanced - 42 minutes
Seat and Thigh - 22 minutes (I think)
Intermediate - 38 minutes
Beginner - I honestly can't remember. When I get home, I will check.

I am as excited for you to get yours as you, I think :7 That was sweet of your uncle! It is amazing the small gestures of kindness that people do that end up as warm, fuzzy memories !

Gayle - I want to get some iTrains/iTreads so bad! But I am afraid that I will have trouble downloading them. Did you have any trouble? Great job on the run! It sounds like you really enjoyed it! Isn't it great to get through a good run and feel like it was "fun"!!

Wendy - Enjoy your run and Core Synergistics! Also ejoy your weekend! It will be here before you know it! Which certification are you going for? My memory is not the greatest anymore x(

Marcia - I hope nothing stands in your way this weekend! It would be great to get away and have nothing that you "have" to do!

Judy - Hope you are having a good morning!

This morning I did an easy paced 5.25 mile run and did no inclines or sprints. My leg was okay this morning. I also did the B&Gs LegBlast premix. This was my first time doing that one! Oh my! I now see what you guys have been talking about!

Hi to everyone that is probably posting while I am posting and that checks in later!!!

Linda

:7

Linda-be sure to check the bottom of my previous post. I came back and added a code for a free iTrain workout. As for downloading. I had NO problem downloading it to my computer. But my mp3 player was a whole DIFFERENT story. lol. I did get it onto my player. I just have a cheapy thing (SanDisk) and I'm still trying to figure out how to make play lists with my favorite songs instead of having to listen to all of them and skipping to the ones I REALLY want. lol Eventually.

Carole-I'm glad the glute feels better today. Enjoy BM2. I love that cardio!

Gayle

Thank Linda....yes that B&G leg Blast is a killer. The iTrain workouts are not hard to download as long as you have a higher speed connection. I don't have an iPod or mp3 player, but I download them to my desktop and then burn them onto a CD. I use the CD in my stereo when I workout on my EXT.

Oh, Carole. FUN is not the word I'd use! LOL. By the time I figure out this mp3 player, I'll have convinced myself I should just go buy an iPod! LOL

Gotta go now! BBL

Gayle

G'morning Cheetahs!! The movie (Music & Lyrics) was sooo cute. My friend Marsha & I were cracking up. I love Drew Barrymore & Hugh Grant is a cutie. I'd give it 2 thumbs up! :)

I feel like I wasn't home at all y'day!! Laundry to catch up on today, what happened to that little fairy that takes care of everything all day??? ;-)

Off to the Y after dropping off Allison at preschool. I hate the rush of trying to fit in a run, swim, and shower, and hurry back to pick her up but I guess that counts as more calories burned. :) I'll probably just do a 3 mile run, we'll see. I *will* get in a 5 mile run at some point this week, need to do it to start my half training.

OK, must get Allison dressed & get my bag ready to go! I'll post more this afternoon! }(

Carole and Gayle - Thanks! I will try it tonite! I have heard so many raves about them! I hope I don't have trouble....I think if I put it on desktop ....burn it to a CD...then I can add it to my iTunes and put it on my iPod. Hmmm...gadgets, gadgets, gadgets ;-)

Jess - I want to see that movie! Goodness, girl! Slow down!!! You are making me dizzy!!! Just kidding! ;) ;)

Linda

Good morning all! I slept terrible last nightx( That's pretty unusual for me so I hope to get in a long afternoon nap since I'm back to work tonight! Today will be an interval run of 4-5 miles
and then the DM lower body circuit}(

Linda- If you have an iPod downloading from iTrain is supereasy! If I can do it, anyone can! It should go directly to iTunes. Then, of course when you plug your iPod in it will automatically update and add it to your collection. It even puts it in a separate fitness category making it easier to locate. Congrats on doing the 5+mile run pain free!!! WTG with following it with the B&G leg blast! You're my kind of gal! }(

Marcia- I think your diet looks exemplary!! I do agree with Carole that its a good idea to focus on the fruits and veggies for carbs. I pig out and eat tons of these to keep me satisfied and fueled.
Glad to hear that you're getting away for the weekend... you definitely deserve a break! Have fun with KenpoX tonight.

Wendy- I got to ask also... where are you going for the weekend that has you so excited???? You have a great buttkickin workout for today}(

Judy- Did you get back from the bus stop? What are your plans for today??? Inquiring minds want to know!;-)

Gayle- Okay, I haven't purchased an iTrain for a while and your post inspired me. Thanks for the tip about the promotion! Glad you got a good run in!

Carole- OMG... you the ultimate gadget gal does NOT have an iPod? And with all the outdoor running you do? Personally, I find it more valuable to my running than my Garmin! Not trying to be an enabler here.... heaven forbid;-) Glad your pain is better today!
I started the Chi running last year and then abandoned it, just running however I felt like... and ended up with the injuries to show for it. I'm back to focusing on the technique again and hope to stay injury free with it. Have a great time with BM2 today!

Jess- Hey there busy Cheetahmom! Have a great Y day!!!

Time to get movin on! Hi to all who follow!
