Good morning, cheetahs :)

Not too much to catch up with from last night except...

Barb :: thanks for the HR info & the links! You're the best! :)

Today my rotation says GS CT but when I spontaneously decided to run on Sunday and do MM yesterday, I kinda fouled up the whole week and am I'm going to have to rearrange the rest of it. Will try to figure that out during my lunch today. So essentially, I have no idea what I'm doing yet today. *lol*

Hope you all have a great day! Be back later.
Cathy :)

Good morning cheetahs,

today's workout is a interval run using CC #6.

cathy- for some reason i always mess up on my rotations. oh well, i am sure there is no harm done.

i am runnning out of the door right now, however i will be back later to check up on my cheetah pals:)

Good morning, Cathy, Sunny and all that follow.

Well, my board meeting was done early so I got to go home and actually put DS to bed. That doesn't happen very often at all. Didn't get a workout in, though, x( But, today I most certainly will.

I have P90X Shoulders and Arms, with AbRipperX, too. I can't wait to try these two out tonight.

We were suppose to get a good amount of snow overnight, but nothing :-( I sure wish if it's going to be this cold at least give us some good snow to play it. :+ I'm sure some of you are getting lots in the next two days according to the weatherman - ENJOY!

Not much else, talk to you soon!
Marcia.

Good Morning Girls.

Okay, my plan was to do cardio only 2x per week for phase 2 but after eating soooo terribly I NEED some extra cardio today!!!! I have leg work only as my original plan for today but since I want to incorporate cardio now I was thinking of doing a lower body circuit. Can anyone think of a good one Cathe has off the top of thier heads? Straight vid or premix-either is fine! Thanks! :)

Good morning ladies! Snow is due here, starting this afternoon. IT BETTER COME, too! LOL. The kids are all ready for a day off school tomorrow! LOL

Today's rotation is scheduled to be a rest day, but my legs and hips are a bit tight after yesterday's 8 miles. So I'm going to the YMCA and jumping in the pool. I'll swim some laps, maybe 3\4 miles worth to loosen up. Upper body DOMS are still here!

BBL, sorry for the quick post. Tuesdays are the days when I babysit at a local mom's group in the baby room. I get my baby fix every Tuesday!

Gayle

G'morning Cheetahs!! Snow day here, we got hit w/ the snow last night & it's still coming down!! I just checked & school is closed! The girls are still asleep so I'll just let them sleep in!

But... there goes my Y plan for the day!! I missed it last week because of snow/ sickness. So... I'm like Cathy & have no idea what workout I'll do later. :p

I think the girls & I will keep busy doing crafts & maybe bake some Valentine goodies. They'll enjoy that!

Have a great Tuesday!

Cathy ~ Have fun deciding what workout to do! I'm right there w/ ya since I can't get to the Y! It sounds like you're having fun w/ your new HRM! I added my bday to your alarm!

Sunny ~ Have a good day! You're keeping pretty busy lately! It sounds like you're really enjoying the PT though!

Marcia ~ We must have gotten your snow! Sorry! :) Hope you're enjoying the *X*. Keep us posted on your progress!

Wendy ~ When are you joining us on the healthy eating thread??? }( IKWYM about needing cardio when you overeat. Did you enjoy your visit w/ your Mom? I love spending time w/ my Mom, we're going to visit her this weekend.

Gayle ~ Sending snow your way. My girls will be excited when they wake up & see all of the snow! You can swim for me at the Y too, ok?? ;-) Have a good one!

Linda ~ I keep forgetting to post, but loved your pics!! You look beautiful!!

Everyone else, have a great day & I'll be back later. My time might be limited though since my dd's will be needing my attention! ;-)

Christine ~ You snuck in there!! Oooh, Power Hour! Thanks for the suggestion, I forget about that one! (Elaine was kind enough to send it to me on VHS!) Enjoy your workout today & hoping for a headache-free day for you! (and me too!)

Good Morning Cheetahs!

I’m feeling 3000% better this morning! Ate well yesterday, slept well and am headache free! Yippee! I think I’m going to do Power Hour this morning followed by a nice spin at the gym. Of course I’ll have my 15 minute walk with the doggies this morning, too.

Cathy – I suffer from that dilemma too – I rearrange my rotation frequently. Enjoy whatever you do… Just a caution on the HRM – working out intensely burns more fat and calories than a moderate intensity pace. You burn many more calories, even though you do burn a larger percentage of fat calories at a lower intensity, you still burn more fat and calories over all at a higher intensity, so don’t use that to slow down your workouts. I’m sure you know that, but… Just being a mom…

Sunny – enjoy your interval run! I’ve never done CC 6.

Marcia – sorry about the lack of snow. That’s no fun! Have fun with P90X Shoulders and Arms – I love that one!

Wendy – how about Circuit Max but using a barbell and going heavy on the lower body work and skipping the upper? I always enjoy it that way and it gets my HR WAAAYYY up. Now you have me rethinking MY workout… Hmm…

Gayle – have fun in the baby room! Sounds like a fun time actually. Enjoy your swim, too.

Jess – I miss snow days!!! I have to admit I love the weather here, but I do miss snow days! Enjoy your “day off”. :+

Waves hello to all the Cheetahs to follow…

Jess - I'm with you on the headache free day!!! I don't get them that often, but man when I do, I'm down for the count. Enjoy Power Hour. I love that one.

Well, I do get them often & don't wish them on anyone! It's a genetic thing, I'm afraid. My great-grandma, grandma, and Mom have all been migraine sufferers. My Mom gets them something horrible though, I feel terrible for her. She's on Topamax & a few other meds now to help her. I try to control mine through diet as much as I can but take Imitrex when I need to.

I think I will do PH, thanks again for the recommendation! ;-)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Clam Beach is probably more like the end of Jan or beginning of Feb. They haven't updated the site for next year yet...yes just a short creek...:)..I think the main problem is AOL and not Vista. I need to get a Vista ready AOL CD at one of the stores that carry the free AOL CD's. Calling seems pointless as I don't think most of the employees at say Best Buy know what I am talking about, so I will have to go into the store. As far as the FB thing on your Polar. I think it goes back to the old belief that a lower HR burns more fat than a higher one. I think that could apply to maybe beginning exercisers and not us. I also never use the HRM doing a weight workout. Barb gave you some great info!!

Marcia...P90X S&A is my favorite of the weight workouts.

Wendy...yes, mondays for me are always good. Still some PC trouble but hoping to get it straightened out soon. Glad it is not MY PC...:)..Good job with CST and PH abs. How about one of the new circuits and just do a lower body/cardio premix.

Jess...glad you are feeling better. Enjoy the snow!

Christine...Girl Scout cookies already!!! Have fun with PH, I just love the music in that workout and the way it goes to the exercises. So glad to hear you are feeling better.

Barb...so far things feel good today after the massage. Still working with my Mom's PC...Do you still have snow? Good job with LIC yesterday. I used to do alot of step with 1 lb hand weights.

Linda...not sure the PC problem is really Vista...I think its AOL. But I wouldn't recommend Vista quite yet...:)...Good TM run yesterday.

Sunny...yes I am following a P90X rotation, just modifying it somewhat. Enjoy your CC workout.

Laurie..."shoot a PC" is just what I wanted to do to my Mom's new one as I was having trouble. I thought a shotgun would be very effective....:)..the hamstring/glute area seems alot better after the massage...:)

Tomasina...that is sweet you rescued the dog. I hope she can reunite with her owner soon! I would have done what your DH said...:) The massage was wonderful, hopefully the kinks are out.

Susan...good job on the EXT and MM...you deserve a rest day. The massage was really needed and I think helped my painful spots alot! I hate the injury thing too..it really ruined my mood Sunday along with the PC troubles...

Judy..thanks....I hope the run is better today.

Elaine...sorry about the 10 miler....sounds like most of my long runs for the last 6 months. I hate when I let myself go...Yes, the ham/glute pain just suddenly came on sunday during the run. I did some leg curls Sat that must have pulled something, but i didn't feel anything until the run. I know the massage yesterday helped.

I am doing GS legs, but trying to avoid any direct hamstring work to rest it. I am sure squats and lunges will be okay. I wanted to try and get in a long run this morning but we will see how it goes. Doing the EXT is completely pain free. I think the massage helped a great deal as my back and ham feel really good today...:)

Have a great day...

Hi Cheetahs,
The day is going ok so far – I ran 3.5 miles outside and then got sick of dealing with the cold and dark (Christine—I imagined Kimo giving me a look that said: “you’ve got to be kidding lady? Just go inside….) and finished inside on the TM for another 1.5 miles. I hope to do some standing legs & abs later today .

More bad weather for us here, so I’m hoping to dash to the grocery store after work and get ready for hibernation if the kids have no school tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great day and fun workouts.

Jess--sorry your w.o. planned got cancelled, but your dds will be happy to have a snow day. Imitrex works well when the headaches hit. There's only so much you can prevent with diet, then migraines are what they are....once they are there, you are sunk. Runs in my family, too.

Wendy—I’m drawing a blank on what cardio to do, maybe SJP premix? Or what about that CircuitMax mishmash Laurie posted a few weeks ago? The bodyblast series is “happy time” for me.

Carole--glad the massage felt good. Thanks for the additional info on the race and that creek. I was thinking about that this a.m. Why did you stop using 1-# weights with step? I do this only occasionally but am I heading for trouble?

Christine--So glad you are feeling better. 3000% is a lot!:+ Have fun with PH. That tape kills me.

Cathy--glad that info last night was helpful. I felt like the student intern on call answering that one.

Sunny—Have a good run today!

Marcia---the board meeting ended early????What’s going on. Have a fun workout today. Our snow is predicted for tonight. Sometimes I wonder if the TV weather folks hype it up a bit?

Gayle – have fun swimming. I bet it will help your legs & hips.

Linda--thanks for the detail on Barry's -- it sounds like it would be a sure 911 call for me. Backwards on the TM + me = America's Funniest Home Video clip...

Tomasina--you are really sweet to rescue a dog. I didn't realize you were training for a marathon either. Wow! That's fabulous. I think all of us have those 8-10 pounds that get lost and then find their way back home. I have a high school informational Team Beating for Parents. It's for my older DS who starts high school in the fall.

Susan--so I am like you, if I exercise less, I eat better. But if I exercise more, I'm happier. But then when I eat too "perfectly" when I exercise more, I eventually get fatigued and crabby. Which then leads me to eat a little more, which if you give a Moose a Muffin, leads to me eating too much more.....and then I scale back one or the other.... Although I'm vegan, I need to work on eating more veggies, fruits & legumes. I tend to gravitate toward complex carbs for too many of my meal choices....

Elaine-I did use the weighted gloves for LIC and I liked the tape much better that way. I find a lot of the moves are somewhat kickbox-y especially when I have the gloves on, and/or I modify to make it more that way. It seems on this new series, Cathe does a few more core type moves on the step. I hope Judy likes the book. I've been enjoying it.

Judy-- Hi!! Hope you're having a happy day!

DING--I must go to work.
Hi to everyone else checking in later. Sorry if I missed anyone!
-Barb

:) :) :)

Barb...running in the cold is one thing, but dark is no fun at all. You are definitely a tough cheetah! Glad you came in for the last 1.5 miles...:)

Not sure why I stopped using 1 lb weights for step? I guess I got the results in my arms I wanted. You do have to be careful taxing out the shoulder joints, so I wouldn't recommend anything higher than 1.5 lbs on each arm. I use the same rule for kickboxing hand weights.

I'm finally healthy. Yeah!!!! So are my girls. I have a Valentines party to put on today for girl scout so I don't have much computer time.

I do have one question. Today when I did my run my left forearm started to tingle and get numb around mile 3. When i would hold my arms up higher and not by my sides it felt better. When my run was over and I let my arms go the blood rushed back to them . I could feel it. When my run was over my arms went back to normal. Now the question is. Did I start this run off funky and clutch my hands or somthing to make it numb. I'm not having a heart atack or anything I was just wondering if anyone has any pointers or has this happend to anyone before.

Good morning ladies,

We are running a bit late this morning, so just a quick check-in for me right now. I am going to do all of Legs and Glutes and abs from Cardio and weights. I have a pt appointment also. I have to go to the mall to get my hubby Mrs.Fields cookies for Valentines day. We are not really buying too much for each other. We will just have sushi out for lunch tomorrow and then he gives me See's candy and I give him cookies. It will a fattening day, but does not have to a fattening WEEK. I tend to do that, I have one bad day and then it goes throughout the week. But, I am changing my ways(LOL)!!!!

I will be back later for personals.

Wendy, I say do the HSTA cardio and lower body portion. It is about 30 minutes and a really kick in the butt!!! Or, a legs and glutes KPC premix. Good luck!

Cheers!

Susan

I unleashed my beast today with a whole lot of kickboxing and upperbody work. By the sounds of the forecast I'll be getting more upperbody work in later today. Maybe the kids will get a snow day tomorrow.

Cathy, so your workout is a mystery, that's pretty much me everyday.
:) Half way into my workout today, the second half was still a mystery. I ended up doing the power drills at the end of Cardio Kicks, such a great add on. Have a good workout whatever you decide.

Hi Sunny:)

Marcia, glad your meeting was a short one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weatherman's predicitons here are off the mark.

Wendy, hope you got your cardio fix in. Sure does ease the guilt after a little indulgence.:)

Jess, enjoy your snow day with the Girls, maybe I'll have my 3 home tomorrow. Too bad about missing the Y again but I'm sure you'll get a good workout in despite the weather.

Christine, nice to hear you're back to your chipper self. Have fun with Powerhour, especially the lunge track.....brutal}(

Carole, there I go again making simple things complicated. I thought 'shoot a PC' was something technical and out of my scope, now I can totally relate, they can be so frustrating sometimes. So glad to hear that the massage helped:)

Barb, you are a brave and determined Cheetah venturing out in cold and dark, love your spirit!!:)

Karen, that's a tricky one. The nerves that innervate the arm run quite the circuit out of the neck, through the shoulder girdle, around the shoulder joint then down and through the elbow. It sounds as if something was being impinged along the circuit. I'd suggest applying heat to your neck and shoulders for 10 minutes or so then focussing on neck, shoulder and forearm stretches in an effort to open up some space for the nerves, arteries and veins running down the arm. Did you have any tingling in your hand (thumbside, pinkieside or middle fingers). Where the tingling is felt gives clues to where the impingement is. HTH.:)

Susan, you've got a busy day ahead! Candy and cookies...mmmmmmm:9 :7

Take Care
Laurie

You're welcome Karen, I just checked out your picture trail. Wow, you look great, the fact that you have worked very hard to get where you are is obvious. Congrats!!!

Take Care
Laurie:)
