:::CHEETAHS:::THURSDAY:::

Hi Cheetahs!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi! Hope all are well! Yesterday I did ME upper body split and today will be a run.

I will post personals when I can. :):) Probably this weekend. :)

Good morning, Gloria, and all who follow,

Caught up with personals last night, so I just want to wish everyone a fantastic Thursday!

Today will be an after-school run for me.

Ciao! :)

Good morning Ch-ch-ch-cheetahs!

So I *think* I've figured out my workout for this morning...at least narrowed it down to two;). It's either going to be Viper plus C&W abs or Imax 3 step only + HSTA cardio and UB only + C&W abs. Haven't done HSTA in a bit so I'm excited to pull that one out but, then again, I *know* Viper gets in there real good. Hmmmmmmmmm, choices choices....

Still got 30 minutes to figure it out:). BBIAB with personals!

Wendy - Wow, TNT covers travel expenses??? That's awesome! I hope Joey had a more restful night last night. Killin' the UB is *exactly* my intention this morning:p. I did discover last week that a run in the morning wasn't the best idea...that's when I discovered the hammy tweak. Went to slide on the first warm up shot and, YEOWCH:eek::mad:!!! Had to completely change my slide and delivery cuz of it:( and then bowled like doggie doo doo. How's the legs this morning? I hope yesterday's run helped with the DOMS.

Dallas - Ah, gotcha! I didn't realize the mammo was for the cyst, specifically...thought it was just routine. IA, thank goodness that's all it was!

Jackie - Oh, LOL, I love your description of Cloris...too funny:p!!! Yeah, I can totally see that now. Yuppers...had a nice bowl of white bean chicken chili, a salad, stood in the shower until ALL the hot water ran out, then climbed under the covers....aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

Cathy - Glad you had a good time with your circuit last night! Sounds like it was just the ticket. Enjoy your run after school today! Uh, wait a minute...you've gone skydiving:eek::eek::eek:?!?!?! Although, somehow I can see you doing that LOL! I don't think I could ever do it cuz I've seen, um, firsthand, what happens when none of the chutes open:confused::(...that was enough for me. And, BTW, that's *not* a joke and I will spare you all the very gory details:(. Actually the comment was in regards to something I said about DSO last week when the putty hammer needed to come out and play;)...won't bore you with the re-hash!

Gloria - Glad to see you! I hope you have some time to stop in and chat this weekend...miss ya, girlfriend! Great job on ME and enjoy today's run.

Uh oh, decision time:confused:. Gonna flip a coin. And the answer is...........HSTA mish mosh! BB after my workout!

Good Morning Cheetahs!:)

Not sure what today's work out will be. The rotation calls for LowMax but I may switch around a couple days this week so I'll report back on that later....

Hi Gloria. Have a good day!

Dallas: I knew I posted our bib #'s when I posted the website url. I wasn't gonna say anything though. :p The problem with Chicago is that for 08 Cathy said it was full by mid April. I don't want to sign up for marathon #2 until marathon #1 is behind me and I decide if I ever want to do it again. LOL My marathon is in the beginning of May so I doubt I'd even have the opportunity to sign up for Chi-town. I don't mind though....never been a spectator at a race so that will be way cool!:)

Jackie: Joey seems to be fine except for his cough. The only reason he didn't go to school is because the doc wanted him on meds for 24 hours first so he wouldn't be contagious so he'll be at school today. Last night was a better night. I didn't hear him at all. :)

Cathy: Very cool that bought a marathon photo pkg. Did you buy them framed or on a plaque or will you do that yourself? I'll have to pick out one to buy myself. DH got a couple good shots of Shelly and I which I will get a print of as well as whatever I picture I decide to purchase. I wish they took pics at the finish line though. Oh well. I am sure everyone was more then happy to support you and Livestrong. I know I was. I'll bet you'd get just as much support if you chose another charity next time but I can certainly understand why you'd choose not to go that route for 09.
As far as why I am afraid to travel for my first mary...Where should I start? LOL First things first...I hate flying. I am not as bad as I used to be but still strongly dislike it so couple that with pre-race nerves and I'd probably throw up in the ariport. :p I hate packing. I am afraid of being far away from close famly/friends should something go wrong and I need medical attention. I spoke to DH about it once and I know he would not want me running in a full mary with out him there so I really couldn't travel for it unless he could go with me. That would just make it more difficult to plan. All of this being said, if my first marathon is a good experience and I decide that I want to do it again, I would be more likely to consider traveling for it. Unfortunately Chicago registration will probably close before I even run my Marathon in May. :(

Wendi: Okay so now you know never to run on bowling days! Gotta try it or you'll never know, right? Yup, the guy that called me from TNT said they take the total cost of race entry, travel, hotel, etc and multiply it by 4 and that is how they get your fundraising requirement. They use 25% of the money to pay themselves back for the expenses and then the rest goes to the charity. They don't truly pop for it but they do front the money and then pay themselves back. Either way it's a good deal. So did you enjoy your HSTA mish mosh?

Okay, I'm caught up. Time to get the little guy up. He likes to watch the Wiggles before eating breakfast, etc. :)

Toodles!

Quicky fly by....workout is in the bag and it was a goodie! I forgot about how sneaky HSTA can be, especially the triceps for me...whoooo boy:eek:!

Wendy - Okay, I get it regarding TNT but I think that's a fantastic way to do it. I know the fundraising won't be much of an issue for you:). You know you can count me in in that department! So, no LowMax this morning??? Are the legs saying no or are you;)? LowMax is a killer for me somedays:eek:. Glad Joey seems to be feeling better.

Gotta run! Hope to get back here before bowling tonight. Have a great day!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...its funny as we didn't have a Rite Aid for years and now I can't stay out of there as I always find good deals on things I need. I mix the Banana Nut crunch with Multi Grain cheerios. Very tasty...:). The wind was not to bad and seems to be gone today. Our temps will be in the high 80's!! Enjoy your after school run today.

Gloria..good job with ME yesterday. Have a good run today.

Wendi...thanks for your thoughts and prayers for John. Funny washing the Enlytens only got one shirt messy. The windy run went well as it was not super cold. Most of my friends that watch DWTS want Cloris off. But I think she must have a huge fan base of crazy people keeping her on. I think she was funny...once...the 1st night!! Sounds like you had fun with your HSTA mish mosh.

Linda...actually I try to look at my oldest sis in a "funny" way as that makes her more tolerable..:)..Who does patty get her marathon training advice from?? All running the full mary distance or more in training would get you is more likely injured. Sorry you got a cold! Better now than next weekend though...It is not uncommon to get a cold during training as you do lower your immune system resistance with ALL the running. How far are you running Sun?

Wendy...thank for the link to the race pics. You 2 look great!! No, so far Mom has not smoked. I talked a bit with her about it and I think she just might quit. I know it is confusing as I have 3 older sisters! Karen (who I run with) is not John's Mom. Cathi is John's Mom and Shelly met both of them in Las Vegas last Dec.

Posh...Way cool you got to see Helen when she shattered that record. She is for sure a great inspiration to all older runners! Here is your KB smiley for Christine
no5.gif
I have not purchased any KB's either...:)

Jackie...I just love that cereal. Glad to know you have a cereal you love too. Hope you find some coupons. The tempo run I do is different than most. It requires a Heart Rate monitor. How is the bootay today after Slo Mo?

Dallas...My oldest sis said nothing about me missing the shower. I am sure she does behind my back but I really don't care. She has not included me in many things over the years with her 2 girls, it is just a weird thing there.

Today is legwork, abs and a 4 mile run.

Have a great day..:)

Morning Ladies!

I slept longer than I should have and started my workout late. I only got a very slow 5K in, but plan on getting BBC-S&B and another run in here soon. I have some cleaning to do today and the kids get the flu shot this afternoon. That should be fun. ;)

Wendy ~ Oh I see about the Chicago mary. I was looking forward to being a spectator at the Chicago '08 marathon. I'm still bummed it didn't work out. I'd love to go cheer Carole and Posh in Napa. Training for two w/our schedule is not a good idea for me. Did you order those pictures? They really are great! :)

Carole ~ Family matters can be tricky. My family is unbelievable. I could tell you stories you probably wouldn't even believe.:eek: Why does it get so complicated??? :( UGH! enjoy that workout. :)

Wendi ~ Good job w/HSTA. No deer to run into there. lol :p

Jackie ~ Yep, went to the stairs. We had a minor interruption as the hill next to it was being worked on. My friend and I went for a little jog to keep the heart rate up until we could continue. Enjoy your relaxing time last night?:)

Well, better get to it.

Ho to all who follow!

Hi Gloria & Cathy!

Hi

Hello Cheetahs,

Up an hour early just so I can post before I bust a move here and tend the animals, coffee up, and get the gym bag/lunch packed and get out the door. All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go…lol…anyone know that song?...Plan on a 4 miler run outside, then to the gym for leg/ab work and a Jacuzzi/steam if I have time before work.

Jackie – Cool, this is your 3rd half. I’m sure with your discipline, dedication and determination (Helen’s tools..lol) with your workouts etc., you’re gonna be able to achieve your 10 min pace goal, no doubt. But I hear ya, gotta have fun with these events too! Sooo, did you wake up with bootay DOMS? lol

Wendy – Yes, my 3 time experiences with TNT were positive and memorable. I had minimum fundraising goals from $3,800, $2,800, and $2,100 I believe, and I not only made the goals, but surpassed them. I have raised over $10,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and ya know, it’s a real good feeling. My first lil’ gal I sponsored was diagnosed when she was barely a year old. Her family wasn’t very wealthy and thanks to the LLS, she was able to receive treatment and family assistance all because of peeps support. I’m sure you’re going to do very well with the program….

Dallas – LOL re: your kids sticking with soccer. Lemmmeee tell ya, Ol’ Keithy boy was a soccer kid before he became infatuated with football. So yah, look out mamma! lol No, I don’t have to have an appt for the mammo – there’s a drop in mammo section at the hospital and no, I have not dropped in..yet. Yep, MT is coming! She was swayed by all my raving of Chicago and the Cheetahs. Claudia is very sweet, ya’ll will like her.

Cathy – Hubby and kid (only lil “f” at home right now ;) ) have to eat? Let me call MIL and ask what she’s makin’ ..lol. No, No, No, shhhilly ssscheetah, Happy Sunday won’t be baking; he’ll be shakin’ - the cup! Have a nice after school run.

Wendi – Yes, I’m looking forward to running outside. Actually, I already ran outside since Chicago, but only once. The rest have been measly dreadmill slogs…lol. If I want to run outside though, I have to have my lunch packed and a gym bag ready to go cuz I have to drive to the place to run then, continue on down the highway to the gym for a shower (and Jacuzzi/steam if time) then on to work. So if I wanna run on the weekdays outside, me has to plan ahead. Anyway, enjoy your workout this morning.

Gloria – Hi! - must be having a busy week. Enjoy your run.

Carole – LOL – thanks for my head shakin’ smiley. Chyeah, me thinks Santa’s elves are gonna have to look into the Kettlebell issue, but even then, dunno… I have a Rite-Aid and have scored some deals there as well. Funny too is that our Rite-Aid (down in Auburn) is STILL kickin’ even with K-Fart and Tarshay nearby. Woah, I have the same workout planned today; legs/abs and a 4 miler if I can fit it all in. Oh, by the way, MT said she could find a way to eat all them dinners…lol. ;)

Hello to all Cheetahs that follow…

Alrighty then, let’s get this bad boy posted…Have an awesome day, ya’ll…

POSH :D

Hi All!

Short post for me today. With my office mate and another worker out for the next week (officemate is out for two), I have their jobs to do as well as mine. No biggie, really, but it does mean I'm busier. I'm hoping to get in a kettlebell workout and possibly a run over lunch today, but I'm fighting a cold, so we'll see how I feel. Today is DH's birthday, so the kids and I are taking him out for Indian food. I'm ready for a nice home cooked meal. But this restaurant is really good. I'm going to make sure i eat clean and well today, and stay hydrated. We'll see how the cold goes. Have a great day all!

Cathy – Oh, my! Chicken soup would be so good right now :) So, your cousin’s friend is having cold symptoms, too? The MCM….that is in DC? That would be a long drive for you! Thank you for the good vibes!

Wendi – Ooops! I misunderstood! I will have to try the Nature’s Path! I hope I can find it around here! Would WalMart have it? I’ll bet you are glad the snow was not to be! :)

Carole – She gets most of the info from the docs that her husband works with. But they are a lot younger than us, run multiple marathons, and further. I really don’t think they are telling “us” to do that…..but I guess that is what she is hearing them say. …? This is her first marathon, too. I was planning on running 10 miles for my long run this weekend, but I was thinking of doing it on Saturday, instead of Sunday. Do you think that will be okay, or should I do the 10 on Sunday? The marathon is next Sunday. That is great that your mom is not smoking! Enjoy your run, legwork and abs!

Dallas – Great job on your run and enjoy BBC! I got my flu shot on Tuesday, and my arm is still sore! (actually…I can’t remember if it was Monday…or Tuesday?). Gee……I hate it when I do that!

Posh – They sent me all of the info when I was interested in TNT (which I did not do, because there was no group in my area…and I didn’t want to do the virtual one). I was so worried that I would have a hard time raising the money. Was it hard for you to do? What did you do to fund raise? Bake sales, etc….or what?

This morning was a 6 mile run. I am going to try for some abs this evening.

I will come back in a bit for more personals. Duty calls :(

Linda

Whew! Finally made it back to post:D Gotta get in my cheetah fix to feel right with the world again;) Yesterday was between work days but I did manage to get in some upper body work.

It is starting to get nice and cool here! Actually tho, still not much colder then what I'd be experiencing this time of year in Az.

Got in a nice TM run this morning after my nap... did iTread12 and got in 5 miles, feeling strong.

Cathy- I think you asked me a few days ago if I'd ever done an ultra. Noooo! Only our SuperCarole has ventured beyond the marathon and I have no plans to do so myself. 26.2 is plenty for me thank you! How is the runs after school going? I think that's a great convenient way (also stress relieving), to get those runs in.

Posh- I'm impressed with how you are keeping up with the posts with your uber busy schedule. You put me to shame! It's great that you are hitting the roads again!!

Wendy- Thanks for the link to the pics. Those really do look nice!!
I especially like the ones at the end... with the yellow baracades visible.
Those were in the last .5 mile and I was yakkin at you non stop;):p.
I'm really amazed at your restraint at not throttling me!!!:p Seriously, you do look really great! I'm actually tempted to buy one where we are both pictured side by side at the end. So when do you officially start training with TNT? You can count on me to contribute BTW. I certainly do want to be there for you on your first marathon, either running or cheering! How is your cute little guy today? Getting over the bronchitis? Glad to hear that it wasn't pneumonia!

Linda- Got taper madness yet? I hear alot of runners training for their first marathon express anxiety about running only up to 20 and not doing it all or beyond it. Yet it's been time tested and proved that it really does work to train that way and like Carole says to try and push it will only invite injury and overtraining. I'd say you've trained smart and will be fabulous!!! Hey, how is your daughter doing?

Carole- Hey, wait a minute..... there is ANOTHER sister??? I thought I had met them all!!!:p You and Karen sound like you are both running strong and are going to be in great shape for Napa!:D

Wendi- Great job on that last windy and cold run!! I had the Wendi got Run Over by a Reindeer tune going thru my head as well!! Too Cute!
Still have plans for Philly this Nov. or are you playing it by ear?

Jackie- Best of luck to you on your 10 miler this weekend! So is the Memphis race a RocknRoll type? You mentioned on the course entertainment. I had that in Phoenix and Vegas and really enjoyed it!
Great diversion!

Judy- I got your envelope with Rumble sent off a couple of days ago so you should be getting it soon. Speaking of difficulty trying to balance everything... I really don't think I hold a candle to you busy supermoms!

Dallas- see above not to Judy regarding Supermoms:) You have a tough rotation this week with BBC, etc.. Very impressive!!!!!

Karen- sending you healing vibes for you and your little one! Take care!

Christine- The Philly marathon is Nov 23rd. I'm really looking forward to running on those now familiar historic streets and of course Fairmount Park. It begins and ends at the "rocky" steps. I hope that cold doesn't progress! Happy Bday to your DH.... what??? No big neighborhood party?????

Hi Gloria!!! How goes it?

I think I'm about caught up. I'll be doing Rumble later today:D.
Tomorrow is an 8 mile run. I got a supply of Gu's new Roctane gel in the mail today. I was intrigued by it and it comes in vanilla/orange... my two favorite flavors. Anyway, Ill try one out tomorrow before the run just as a test.

later

Shelly - Thanks! Yes, I do believe that, as well....and Patty has changed her way of thinking, as well :) It is confusing, though, because there are so many tapering schedules. It seems like everyone I come across is different. :( The one we are doing has us do our last long run at 10 miles. Since our marathon is next Sunday....do you think it would be okay to do it on this Saturday ...instead of Sunday? Or does it even matter which day I do it? Yes, I am hitting tapering madness  But it is because I am so afraid that when the marathon actually gets here, I won't be able to run the distance since it will have been 3 weeks since I did a 20+ miler. I know....I am whining and acting like a baby  My daughter is about the same. She is still having a lot of trouble with dizziness and almost passing out...even while seated. She is also afraid to eat anything at all, for fear of causing a gallbladder attack. :( Great job on your TM run!

Jackie - I did notice the last time that Cloris's partner did manipulate her moves quite a bit. :) I can't wait to she them do the Hip HOp :) I agree....for her age, she moves pretty good :) I would love to do a race with RocknRoll music! It would be so motivating to me!

Christine - Don't work too hard! Enjoy the Indian dinner and Happy Birthday to your DH!

Hi Linda! Your overall training and preparation has been great, so if it works better for you do do your last 10 miler on Sat rather then Sunday then go for it. Personally I don't think it will make a difference at all. I understand that concern about the 3 week taper. YES YES YES, you will be able to finish and finish strong. Your body will appreciate the rest you are giving it and will pay you back with a strong marathon performance!!!

Hi Girls.

I'm tired today. I've decided not to push it with a work out. There's not much time and I'm not feelin' it so I'm just going to skip it. Tryin' to be a little more "go with the flow" these days. ;) I will pick up my rotation where I left off starting again tmrw. I think I'll survive. :p

So after much nagging and a couple of things going on recently that made me nervous that something might not be right, I *FINALLY* got on the phone and made an appointment for a check up with the "lady doctor" if ya get my drift. I don't mind the appointments as they are generally quick and painless (once the exam begins anyway-the waiting room can be torture!LOL) so I don't know why I put it off for this long. No excuse but laziness I suppose.

Shelly: The pics really did come out nice. I'm gonna order one too! TNT will start recruiting in Dec-Jan so that's when I will hear from them but I'm not quite sure when the actual training begins. I'll bet you could do an ultra if you wanted to!!! :)

Linda: Nice run this morning. Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way of posting on the cheetah thread? ;)

Posh: You sure have a full day of activities planned before you even START work. How do you do it!?!? So TNT actually "assigns" you to a cancer victim that you will help with your fund raising? That's cool.

Dallas: I haven't ordered pics yet but I plan to. I won't be able to make it to Napa. I'll be so close yet so far away. :(

Wendi: The hammies called for a no-go on LowMax and then I called for a no-go on the work out all together. :p Have fun at bowling tonight!

Carole: Thanks for the sister explanation. :) Glad to hear your mom hasn't smoked.

So I think that about catches me up. Gotta grab a shower now. Heading to my mom's for dinner in a bit.

Later Cheetah Babes!:D

Wendy - Good that you listened to your body and took a rest day! I hope all is well! I am glad you went ahead and made the appointment! Yes, I do hate it when work won't let me post...or finish all of my posts! How dare they? ;)

Shelly - Thanks for the advice! :) I always had planned to taper....but it still kind of scares me (But...I understand that is normal for people to feel that way the first time) :)

Afternoon, cheetahs! :)

Wendi—Yup, I know. It ain’t pretty when it goes bad. But statistically, it is far safer to go skydiving than to get behind the wheel of your car. ;) Ah yes, I do remember the incident involving your falling sleep. Good luck tonight in bowling.

Wendy—If you secure your own registration, then yes, Chicago fills up fast. But charities reserve 1,000s of spots, so even if open registration is closed, runners can still get in through the charity route. Many of them, as I mentioned last spring, do not require as much as Livestrong and TnT. In fact, one of the local hospitals only requires $500 in fundraising…Anywho, by all means, if travel ain’t your bag, it ain’t your bag. I had to laugh, though, that hating packing made your list. J If I ran for charity, I would do Livestrong again. No, I did not buy the frame or plaque—just some prints.

Carole—the Cloris comments are keeping me in stitches…Hey, that’s great that your mom thinks she may just quit…I am big on Nature's Path Pumpkin Flax.

Dallas—hey, backatcha! ;)

Posh—how is old Smokey doing?...ooh, I’m jealous of your post-run Jacuzzi/steam. Nice!...*lol* about Happy Sunday. I actually used him as an example with my students yesterday and mentioned the jingling cup! I am so with you on finding the dreadmill uninspiring.

Christine—happy b’day to DH! Hope you’re not feeling too bad to enjoy dinner out. Enjoy your workout if you can squeeze it in. Sounds like you will have your hands full at the office.

Linda—Cousin’s SO has been doin’ the same—pounding the Vitamin C and trying to get rest. Yes, it is in DC. I am on the bubble right now. I feel kinda pooped at this point in the week and the prospect of a long drive (during a crazy weekend) has become completely unappealing…and yet I’d like to be there for her. What to do, what to do…I was quite fearful of committing to Livestrong because if you are under your goal, YOU get charged the balance. I felt uncomfortable asking folks for money, but it turned out to be far easier than I would have thought…Lucky for me, I was a little too busy at school to really succumb to the taper madness, but a worry or two crept in now and then—would I really be ready? I should’ve trained more, that type of thing. But Slow Cheetah here can testify it does work, and I did what I would consider bare-minimum training ("to finish.") J Have faith! IA, I would think it makes zero difference to run Saturday or Sunday.

Shelly—today was to be my first at-school run, and well, see below for what I did. *lol* Enjoy Rumble. Let us know how the new GU is.

OK, here is what a dumb-butt I am. I packed a bag today in preparation of my run near school. Well, weather's been all over the place, so I brought a short-sleeve shirt, long sleeve, shorts, tights, Garmin, pepper spray, yada ya. All this just in case. Lo & behold, what'd I forget? My running shoes! Most important thing. DOH! *lol* So, I'm hittin' post and then I'm scrambling out that door. :) :) :)

Cathy - That makes me feel a lot better! You did great! we have been telling each other we will just pretend it is a training run and jabber away! :) Ya know...that was so stupid of me.....I didn't even realize the Livestrong was a fundraising thing! (TNT type). How silly of me!!! How did you raise your money? LOL....that sounds like something I would do! (forgetting the running shoes) :) Enjoy your run!

Hi Girls!

I guess I never signed out. I'm surprised it didn't log me out?? I enjoyed my BBC-S&B workout. ;):D I only got 1.5 more miles in on the treadmill. I ended up taking a phone call after I posted so I felt rushed before DS's bus got here. I'm still happy - got in 4.6 miles altogether. :)

Cathy ~ Sorry about the running shoes -that's the worse! :( I used to drive about 45 minutes to the gym before my job. I have done that too. What's worse was when I forget my dress shoes and had to wear my suit w/gym shoes. LOL Not a good look. Hope you enjoyed that run. :)

Wendy ~ I'm so glad you made an appt. When all that happened with me, I felt perfectly fine. That's good you're listening to your body. I'm so bad about that. Hope you enjoyed your rest day today.

Shelly ~ Oh, thanks...I think we all do a great balancing act w/family, life in general. I do think working and trying to do all those things would be tougher. Great job w/the iTread. :) Loved your pictures. You and Wendy are so fit! :) I didn't realize your hair was so long. Looks good on you. :) I'm shooting for 8 miles tomorrow too.

Linda ~ My arm was sore for a day. I got mine two weeks ago. I get it before the kids. **crossing fingers** we don't get that flu. We've gotten it here despite the shot two years ago. :( How's your DD? I saw what you wrote to Shelly. I think you've been training so well. You'll do great! Do you have a finish time in mind?

Christine ~ Enjoy your dinner tonight. Happy Birthday to your DH.:) Will you get help soon at work?

Posh ~ Well, thanks for the warning.;) I do think my little guy just might go the football route. He's so physical when he plays. He takes his brother down all the time. lol He's got that stocky build too. Well, get on it girl re: the mammo!!! Sounds like you have a good workout plan today.

Carole ~ I meant to say you do not look like you're turning 50! You look great!! :D

I meant to say "Hi" and not "Ho" in my earlier post.:p lol

Time to leave for the doctor.
