Hey, girls ~ I'm back!
Jess :: I've had to make quite a few substitutions for that rotation, too, as I don't have all the DVDs either. Hope you had fun at the pool today.
Laurie :: sorry to hear the thumb joint is out of whack…that can’t be good in your line of work…hope you can get it to feel right again real quick!…Massages are a true indulgence for me…I used to treat myself maybe once or twice a year (Actually, for several years while I was sedentary, I didn’t go at all), but this year, it’s my new thing – budgeting so I can go every one or two months. It is SO worth it. And I think it’s a good (non-food!) reward for working the body hard.
Wendy :: it is so hard to stay on track when you go out to eat or are in social eating situations…I am with you…I buckled down that last Monday in June…I haven’t been perfect, but I’m trying to be better!…It’s not a bikini year for me, though!…I said it on the other checkin thread, but it’s worth saying twice: CONGRATS on landing your first client!!! That is just awesome!…I did PUB yesterday and had forgotten how that one fries up my biceps! Boy, is that painful at the end…I have heard from Christine ~ she’s OK as far as I know, just is occupied with other stuff at the moment and taking a break from the forums.
Carole :: what a beautiful scenic day at the lake…those are some big fish!!! Sadie’s such a little cutie…Were you on a boat or fishing from the shore?…I used to go fishing with my father when I was a little girl…it wasn’t my thing, but I liked being with my dad…No, I didn’t get your email. I wonder if you have my old email address…I will PM you…Wow, whatta workout load you had today!
Amy :: Whoa, hardcore woman, doing those KM drills twice! Love those. Yeah, I tend to buy most of my stuff at Dick’s, too. I love their selection…The massage was *heavenly*. This is my second time having the hot stones…it costs a little more, but it is truly worth it…The heat makes it feel divine…I did have a few knots in my shoulder blade area, and that was a bit uncomfortable as she worked it out, but I left feelin’ like a new woman! *lol* As I mentioned to Laurie above, I used to treat myself once or twice a year at the most, but as of this past January, I decided to make some budget adjustments (fewer dinners out and such) so that I could go every month or two. BEST thing I’ve done!…BTW, congrats on your marriage!
Jackie :: I’m a big seafood lover, too…Oh, yeah! Definitely treat yourself to a massage -- the sooner, the better!…Most of what I bought at Dick’s was NOT on sale, but I find myself getting fussier about workout gear…for example, I have reached the point where there is only one bra I like and it’s the heavy-duty one made by Nike. The stuff is too expensive to experiment!…so you have the Great Body Guaranteed set, huh? Is that new or have you had it for awhile? I peeked at it but did not order (for a change!) How is it?
Laura :: hope the shins are feeling better...Saw your post on the Open Discussion thread...for now, I am tabling the HR issue and just going by how I feel and RPE...I don't want to overthink my runs - I just wanna enjoy 'em!
After my massage, I stopped at Borders. I had a $15 gift card from a student, which meant, of course, that I had to go and spend $100. Man, is that store dangerous for a reading teacher. Anywho, I bought *three* w/out DVDs…I think it may be time for a 12-step program *lol*…I picked up Kathy Smith Yoga Sculpt – it contains New Yoga Basics, New Yoga Challenge, and Functionally Fit: Lower Body Firming. The last two I am unfamiliar with, but I used to have New Yoga on VHS years ago and recall liking it for stretch purposes (which is what I’ve been looking for). The New Yoga Challenge is supposed to be power yoga. Next, I picked up Yoga for Inflexible People (that’s me!)
It seemed to get good reviews and offers a lot of options – 35 workouts ranging from 20 to 60 minutes. The last is 10 Minute Solutions Rapid Results Pilates. I know Jess and others here have seen good results from doing pilates, and I do like what I’ve seen from the 10 Min. Solutions series, so I thought I’d give it a go. If I don't care for them, I'll put 'em up on eBay with those freaky kundalini vids. *lol* OK, and now it really is time to stop spending!!!
Have a great night, cheetahs!
Cathy
"I always loved running...You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs."
