Wendy :: sorry to hear it was such a rough day for both you & Joey...I hope today is better!...As you know, I switch things around as needed -- and I agree, as long you as get in all your workouts of the week and are not taxing the same body parts consecutively, what's the harm?...Sometimes when I'm kinda pooped, I know that I *could* eke out a workout, anyway, but I kinda like to do things full-force and not halfway, so sometimes it really is best to just listen to the body and give it rest. As active as we are, there's no need to feel like it's a copout, which I have to admit, I sometimes do. The guilt wants to creep in, but then I remind myself...it's that all-or-nothing mentality that can get you injured (as I know from experience, unfortunately) or MORE sick. So, I say go with how you feel today!
 
Good morning ladies...

well legs and back never happened yesterday. i missed my window of opportunity and was just too busy working to be able to fit it in. so unfortunately i will have to deviate from the plan a little this week. today i will do the legs and abs timesaver from B & G so i get in my legs and abs (again) this week. however no back today since it's chest and back tomorrow. i tell ya, sometimes this just don't go as planned but then we all KNOW about that.

alrighty ladies i am off and running. i have 10 clients to train today. WHEW (wipes sweat off brows:D )

I have DOMS from my toning class last night, WOW! I put some really good sets together and glad to see that I have DOMS from it because then I know my girls did, too, last night. They said they really enjoyed it, so I'm pumped.

No workout package in the mail, but I got my t-shirt which I was thrilled to get, so my fingers are still crossed that today will be the lucky day.

I have step class tonight, so I'll be getting routines ready for that today.

Good Morning!

Cathy, This is why doing pre-set rotations is so hard for me. I am anal about making sure I do them in the correct order and don't miss anything so I either push through things I shouldn't to get 'em done or have to do 3 hours of exercise in one day to get caught up...LIKE TODAY!!!:eek: :eek: :eek:

I have Back and Biceps, ARX and yoga on tap for today because I never did B+B last night! Thank goodness I will be doing the Baron yoga dvd-under and hour! PHEW!:D To add to that, I was not on the schedule for work today and had my day planned according to that and then ofcourse the phone rang....now I'm working-ACK!x( I could have said no but I felt bad. I know the gal that called me is just getting over strep throat so I couldn't say no...:-(

Sunny, Dang girl! Sounds like your new job/career is a success! Good for you! Sorry you missed your work out y'day. Join the club.:p

Marcia, See? I KNEW you'd kick butt in that toning class y'day! Do you use weights in the class or is it all non-weighted exercises like leg lifts, crunches, etc? You will get P90X today...I can just feel it!;)
 
Wendy - I used weights and put in some real goodies like hover squats, leg press, etc. they were surprised how much they felt it and how much they liked it. We only had a few different dumbells to work with, but we managed with what we had just fine. Hopefully they will be able to bring some from home now that they know what it's all about. But, I think the girl that normally does that class doesn't use the weights quite as much as I did last night. Oh well, variety - spice of life! ;-)

Anybody checked out Jillybean's thread recapping her guest spot on Tracy's new exercise videos? What do you think?

I saw the post by Jillybean and skimmed it but what I want to know is how she got the spot!?!? That must have been so exciting!!!!!

So should the gal that normally teaches the sculpting class now be fearful of being ousted by popular demand so that YOU can teach that class from now on?? }(
 
Actually, YES :7 I'm just kidding, she has a good class, too, from what I hear but they told me last night they get so bored with leg lifts that my way about it was a great change. I wish she would alternate that class with me, but she only teaches hi/lo and nobody wanted that it was too hard on their knees. I'll just be happy to sub whenever she needs me too. :)

HI Cheetahs- Do we all have a plan for clean eating and kick butt workouts today?

Today is upper body ( MM, PUB, or PP UB twice) and EXT for 30" as a warm up. I don't have two workouts planned like Shelly!

THe TM run yesterday ended up being intervals because It is too boring to just trot along at the same pace. However It really kicked me. After 15" steady state, I did 45 seconds at 8 minutes/mile followed by 45 seconds at 9 minutes/mile until I had four miles done.

Cathy- you have a very no nonsense safe attitude. It is admirable. I agree about the no guilt part. Many of us struggle with guilt at times.

Sunny- Re: above! You have really caught on at your gym! did you say it was a YMCA?

Hi Marcia :) way to go on the sculpting and toning class.

Wendy- rotations can be difficult, but we just do our best and move on.


Speaking of Shelly, your picture is very nice! I love having a face with a friend here!

Good morning, Judy - YOU BET, let's eat clean and have a kick butt workout - great way to come in this morning. ;-)

QUESTION - what kind of protein shakes do you any of you make? Whey protein?? What kind? I'm not quite sure where to go with this, but I want to start having a protein shake after my workouts (right, isn't that good ;-) ), but not sure what to get.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Judy: Wow, great interval run there! The only problem I have with runs like that is that it forces you to pay much more attn to the time and that can make one very LOOOOONG run! x( Have fun pumpin' up that upper body today! I know I will!}(

Marcia: I am far from an expert on protein shakes but I buy whey protein powder and usually mix it with fat free milk, natural p/b and banana. It's a great shake post-work out!:9 :9 :9
 
Marcia: No clue...I go for cheap personally! LMAO! So long as I mix it with milk it's fine for me. If you want to mix it with water you will probably have to search out a really good brand that will cost much $$$.

ETA: Just make sure there is very little sugar in it!
 
Marcia- I make a smoothie like this:

1 scoop of protein powder*
2 cups of frozen berries or peaches or a banana
1 cup 8th continent light vanilla soy milk
1Tbsp ground flax

* one of my favorites is Phytosoy brand Vanilla cake mix flavor, it has 20 g protein and it does have 6 g sugar, but I have it post workout and do not worry about it.

*I have also tried some vegan non soy protein powders and like them too, but I try to get vanilla flavor.

morning ,

I didnt do bootcamp yesterday morning instead I did the elliptical on the wt loss mode for 30 min and the treadmill wt loss mode for 10minutes. How can I do resistance 8 at the gym on the elliptical but level 3 on mine is so hard? dont understand that.

tonight I wil run at the ymca and maybe do butts and gutts leg premix. I hear people are getting good results with that and I am going to try to add more wts training during the week to see if it helps get me some results. I got barrys bootcamp in the mail the other aday and previewed them all ,I also got my bodyfat calipers too. someone on the open forum asked how measuring in one place can determine the correct measurement and i agree, how can measuring just above the hip bone be correct #? If it is, then I am less than the YMCA measured me 3 yrs ago, which I hope it would have dropped by then, but I currently weigh more now then I did then.

cathy- did you get my check? you should have gotten it or maybe today you will. the shirts look cute!!

Good morning Cheetahs! This will need to be short post. I have some work that needs to get done. Today will be a 3.5 mile run.

On a bright note, I'm taking tomorrow off as a vacation day. Even though it will be "vacation" I plan to scrub down all 2 1/2 bathrooms from top to bottom, hand scrub the kitchen floor, vacuum all the floors, go grocery shopping, and spray all of the salt off of my car from all of the snow we have been having. Needless to say it won't be an easy day, but I will feel so good after I have everything accomplished. I always feel great when house is clean. I'm also hoping to do B&G Leg Blaster that everyone keeps mentioning. It sounds brutal. :) :)

Oh, I also noticed that I picked up the Feb. Oxygen issue instead of the Eating Clean issue. I've tried to find it everywhere but no one has it. I have one more place close by to check, otherwise I will have to run across town to try to find it.

Okay ladies – it’s 4:30AM and there are already 14 messages… I cannot keep up with y’all!!! Well, I’m feeling a lot better. Slept really well with only a ½ dose of cold medicine – I’m going to try to forego that tonight. So, I think I’ll do P90X S&A and abs this morning. My wonderful DH decided to cook dinner. Indian – so I’m probably up a few pounds, but I’ll work that off today. I love his cooking, but sometimes I could do without it. :p

Cathy – enjoy BC! That’s one of my favs. You’re so right about giving it a rest. I think pushing too hard on Monday got me more sick. So, I’ve been taking it easier. I have found that sometimes going a bit easier is good, too, though. But, if you know yourself and know you’ll push it, then you’re simply being smart in resting when needed.

Sunny – whatever happened to working PART TIME? It sounds like you’re busier than when you had a full time job! Good for you! Enjoy your legs and abs today. It’s okay to deviate.

Marcia – great job on the toning class!! I love hearing things like that. Enjoy your step class! My morning smoothie is:

1 scoop protein powder (the one I currently have is only one scoop)
1 banana
1 cup frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries or raspberries)
Water or Orange Juice (I love it with OJ)

Wendy – Take it easy today – although I have to say I think yoga will feel good after B&N today. Hope little Joey is feeling better. Sorry you had such a bad day yesterday!

Judy – *steps up and salutes* Yes we do have a clean eating and kick butt work out plan today, ma’am! :+ Sounds like you had a killer workout yesterday! Enjoy your upperbody one today!

Laura – Sounds like a great workout! I know at the gym the resistance goes to 20. How far does yours go? I’ve actually heard that you can get a fairly accurate measurement with one reading. I’ve also read that it’s kind of like the scale – it should be used as a gauge.

Krisit – enjoy your working vacation day! Then you get the weekend free of doing all that and it does feel good once everything is done!

Shelly – thanks for the photo! You look just like you come across in your posts – as someone who is very approachable and friendly (and beautiful – but you knew that).

Be back after my workout and shower, when I can chill in front of the PC for a while.

Cathy...I will be interested in what you think of P90X after viewing the website. Lots of us enabler here...yeah my DH can be so clueless sometimes but he did say tonight, he noticed I was loosing weight....:)...Have fun doing BC after school.

Wendy...sorry about little Joey's not happy mood. Poor guy, I hope he feels more himself today...I think your plan for the rest of the week looks good...hope you can squeeze it all in today.

Marcia..aren't the shirts cool...hope you get the other pkg today! I think it was great Jillybean was able to be in one of those workouts. I have not tried Tracey. her style looks a bit crazy to me...like too much caffeine? My shakes are using a Magic bullet. I fill the cup with frozen fruit thawed, add 2 T ground flax seed, soymilk and usually soy or whey vanilla protein powder (1 scoop) I have that after every workout.

Judy...sounds like you did a good one yesterday. Have fun with UB and the EXT today.

Laura...I think different ellipticals have different feeling resistances.

Kristi...any of the GS premixes can give you DOMS too! Good workout yesterday. Bust day of cleaning for you...it is a nice feeling to have things clean!

Christine....Yes, 17 messages when I got here!! Enjoy S&A. I think its nice your DH cooks for you. Hard to say about more or less cardio. I know for me personally I got in the best shape after going vegan and doing P90X. Therefore I would think less cardio is better. But I was also one that normally lost weight when marathon training, where as most women gain a bit...so it's all about hormones, age and genetics!!! Nothing wrong at all though with trying a new approach. Your muscles get used to the same old workouts time after time. Congrats on your weight loss. I think I'd fall off a TM watching Seinfeld...good job for you. Glad you ate better too...I know how good that makes us feel.

Gayle...good job with the 5 miles. I am doing B&G also today.

Barb...I do agree with what you said about men listening....the thing they don't realize is sometimes we learn from them...:)..Glad it warmed up for you...above zero!!??...wow...

Shelly...love the pic!! You are so cute...:)..and the shirt looks great on you. I looked at those Vision EXT's, they look like a good machine. Yes, I am doing a modified version of a P90X rotation, I am on the 11th week. I started using the GS series for 3 weeks and then S&H for 3 weeks and after the next 2 weeks I will have a recovery week and maybe do more circuits and then do the modified P90X rotation again. I love the way their rotation is set up, but I just need more legwork.

Susan...yes it was a bit annoying my DH asked the silly question yesterday. But like I said to Barb...after being married a long time you can pick up their not listening skills...

Jess...great story about Allison...you should be proud!

Tomasina...I am trying to get off some lbs too. I have been a lazy vegetarian for sometime...:(..Good job with DM. I have the Garmin 305 too. Great toy...:)...I am doing a local 10 mile run on March 3rd. I have been running so slow that now I am trying to get the weight off and get a bit faster. Really nice to see you back...

Elaine....Humboldt is in the fall (OCT) and beautiful....I might be ready for a marathon by then...:)..Good job with GS C&T and your EXT workout.

I am doing B&G standing and floor if I have time. Also iTread #14 60 min on my EXT.

G'morning Cheetahs! I'm slow to get going this morning for some reason! Surprisingly, no DOMS from the Leg blast premix. I'm going to start doing it at least once a week though because I swear my legs look slimmer already!! I'm going to start working my legs more again, it seems to work better for me. I've found that reading too much about what works for other people isn't good for me. I've found that 4-5 days of cardio works for me. I tried that 2-3 days & that's when I gained a couple lbs (and not of muscle!).

I don't know what I'll do today, I got in a good upper (MM) & lower body workout y'day (B & G) plus abs. I might do KM, haven't done that one in a while. Plus those leg conditioning drills which will give me DOMS! I can't figure out why some harder things don't give me DOMS & things that seem easier do!! :p

I need to run a few errands today, but I just haven't been motivated w/ it being so cold!!

OH, and the TV repair man came to look at our TV, and it's going to be $225 to fix!!!! We only paid $350 for it a couple yrs ago, so now we're looking at a newer TV. We can use our TV from our bedroom like we have been for now & see if we can find a good deal. I'm not spending $1,000+ on a plasma, that's for sure! :eek:

And check out Fitness magazine (March '07 issue). There's a good article on foam rollers (good for cellulite!!), PF, and some other good stuff. Someone gave me the subscription to it, it's not too bad of a fitness mag!

OK, must go play puzzles w/ Ms. Smarty pants! ;-) Thanks for listening to me brag y'day! I'm going to miss her so much when she goes to school, she's my buddy during the day!
