Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs :)

Hard to believe it is the last day of spring break...I've so enjoyed the time off.

Is it any surprise I didn’t get in my run yesterday? The walkway project took all day, and it was fairly grueling work. (If it weren’t for Cathe & Tony, I’da been in a puddle of mush within an hour.) But it was a gorgeous day, and as I shoveled, I just kept thinking what a *perfect* day it was for a run!! DOH! But afterward, I was kaput. I think I nodded off at about 6 pm…woke up again around 11, watched some TV for a bit, and then dropped off into lala land again. I feel well-rested this morning, though, and not sore (like I thought I might be). I’m supposed to do L&B today, but I think I worked my back pretty hard yesterday, so I may opt for either B&G or I’ll try out BBC L&B and see what else I’m up for.

Enough blathering :: time for personals!!

Marcia :: you’re absolutely right – I had no trouble sleeping!…How did the TS party go?

Linda :: hope you enjoyed your dinner out w/ friends…I can’t believe you’re getting snow. The Nor’easter’s hit us, too, but it’s just rain here. A lot of it!

Gayle :: great job staying on track with the eating…I ate ¾ of a big ol’ Italian hoagie for lunch yesterday (and skipped dinner), but other than that, I have been pretty good since Tuesday. I just *feel* so much better when I’m not dumping in garbage!…Yesterday was truly ideal running weather – I *so* wanted to ditch that shovel and gear up!

Shelly :: hope you were able to enjoy a rest day! :)

Jackie :: congrats on finishing first in your age group!! AWESOME!! And glad it was dry for ya. I once placed first in my age group, too. That’s because there was nobody else IN my age group. *lol*

Susan :: glad to hear you had another pain-free run…Your plan seems like the right attack.

Christine :: love hearing the stories (and seeing the new pic) of Jimmy, esp. the part about barking at the poodle. That dog sounds annoying to ME and I’m just READING about it. *lol* Anyway, Jimmy really looks like the kind of pup you just wanna squeeze, he’s so darn cute.

I wonder if Wendy survived the American Girls show. :)

OK, I'm gonna putz around a bit, and then take advantage of the morning and get some work done around here.

Have a GREAT day, cheetahs!
Cathy :)

Good morning cheetahs! Finishing up another night at work and I've been fretting:( My DH went down to Phoenix for some classes over the weekend. This is the first night we've ever left the dogs all alone over night. With my 12 hr shift it'll be 13 hrs:eek: The two older dogs will be fine but I'm terribly concerned about our one year old pit bull, Spanky!! We'll see what the house looks like when I get home!

Cathy- Up early again this morning I see! Don't you ever sleep in?
Sounds like you had one helluva workout yesterday even though it wasn't an intentional one ;-) The BBC L&B workout is a good one....
but so is B&G.... or you can be totally insane (like yours truly) and do both}(

Christine- So how was the first night with the new baby? Give a big kiss to that cute lil Jimmy for me!

I'm off tonight :7 so after my nap I'll be doing a 3 mile tempo run
and later a circuit workout. I'm thinking Viper.... not sure what yet.

Later y'all

Cathy - I know I would have been zonked after all of the shoveling! Enjoy whatever workout you do decide to do! We have just gotten rain, so far. So I don't know if we will get the snow or not. Glad you had a beautiful day yesterday!

Shelly - Good luck with you house with the doggie loose! ;) Hope it is all okay! Sounds like a good plan with your workout! And enjoy your night off!

Christine - He is sooo cute! I can imagine that you are in heaven! Have fun with him and enjoy!!

BBL!

Linda

Good morning Cheetahs!

Thanks everyone for the kudos on my race. Legs are sore today. Must be from those little hills yesterday. Will enjoy my rest day today.

Linda - The crowds is the reason I don't like shopping in the bigger cities at Wal-Mart. People will run over you. How was dinner last night?

Christine - Glad Jimmy is finally home. He is so adorable. Looks like you wore him out.

Shelly - Next race is May 12. I'm running a 10K. Hope all is well with your beloved dogs when you get home. Enjoy your workout.

Cathy - Back to work tomorrow, huh? Glad you got a good night's sleep. I don't think there were too many in my age group either but I'll have to wait for the results to see. I'm happy because I have something to show that hard work pays off. So, we take them anyway we can get them. Right?

Hello to everyone else.

Enjoy your Sunday ladies.

Jackie

Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning, Cheetahs! Cheetah Heather is back on track, fully alive, and energized to kick some butt and get ready to rock the Road Trip! I had an awesome day yesterday, and I do not use that word lightly! God was with me, and He definitely answered all the prayers that have been going up on my behalf.

First, the depression lifted yesterday morning. I took a nap after my last update then woke up and enjoyed Kari Anderson’s DanceWorks for the first time in a year. Oh, how I love this workout. It is without a doubt my favorite dancy hi-lo workout of all time. Kari’s background exercisers are professional dancers. I feel so beautiful and light on my feet twirling around my living room with Kari and company. Cathe’s workouts transform my body, but this one brings healing to my soul. It inspires me to pursue my dreams with a passion. I also enjoyed Jen Carman’s Strength in Movement. She is one of my favorite instructors. Her warm and perky personality makes me feel so happy. I love the harbor set with the dolphins playing in the water outside the studio window! I was definitely feeling all warm and cozy inside after my workouts.

I stepped on the scale yesterday morning and was delighted to discover that my perseverance during the week was rewarded. I dropped 2 pounds in a week even though I did not have enough energy to give my all to every workout. Consistent exercise and clean eating works for me even when I do not have as much energy as usual and have to modify Cathe’s intensity.

The sun came out yesterday. There is nothing like a burst of Texas sunshine to chase the blues away. It is amazing what natural light can do for a soul. Yes, the depression has been kicked to the curb where it belongs.

I had an Olan Mills photo session yesterday afternoon for our church directory. I waited until the last possible day. Actually, I skipped my original appointment last Saturday because my hair was wet and covered with snow! I thought about simply not being in the directory this time, but I knew in my heart that my pastor and the elders would be disappointed because they like to pray over our pictures. I called my hairstylist to see if she could fix my hair yesterday. My hair is my glory, so I look good when it does. It is a Texas thing! She was booked and had no cancellations. Off to Drug Emporium I went for Ringlet and a new hair dryer with a diffuser. It is simply amazing what professional styling products can do! God blessed me with a great hair day for a $15.00 bottle of Ringlet! I bought a tube of Clean and Clear invisible gel a few days ago and heavy makeup in case it did not work. Thankfully, my skin cleared up in less than 48 hours. Another answer to prayer! I did not like the stage makeup look on me and decided to go with a more natural look. I am a natural beauty kind of girl. I went with the very sheer foundation I usually wear, mascara, blush, and lip gloss. I was absolutely amazed when I saw the proofs. I had a revelation yesterday. I am very pretty! I kept asking the girl if I could see the best one again. There were only 2 poses we could choose between for the church directory, and one of them was the best! I was so happy that I ordered a small package.

I do not look thin. My face is still full and round, and I still have some fluff under my chin. But I have clear blue eyes, a radiant smile that lights up the room, and a porcelain complexion. Not to mention, a mane of thick and naturally curly/wavy hair. I am fat indeed, but I am pretty. And fat is temporary and fixable! Yes, I had a glory moment yesterday. I write this with all humility because you know that pretty is not a word I use to describe myself in general. Fun, friendly, encouraging, loving, and passionate are my words of choice. But pretty?! Me?! Wow! I think God is teaching me to see myself the way He sees me and the way people who love me unconditionally see me. I am pretty in unretouched pictures. Glory! I am going to rock that Road Trip. Texas-size butt and all! This was a big deal for me because I was discouraged by a long thread (not posted here), which added to my depression last week. A size 8 is my goal, and one poster wrote that a size 8 would still be fat unless you are 6 feet tall and have bulky arms and legs from exercise. I was very discouraged. After wearing a size 28, I will feel tiny in a size 8. I have been judged for my size all my life and do not need anyone telling me I am fat after I work my butt off to shed over 100 pounds. After reading the comments in that thread a few days ago, I was having serious Road Trip cold feet about going at my size because I will not even be close to a size 8 by August apart from a miracle. Those of us who wear larger sizes know we are fat and are working to change that reality if we are visiting fitness forums. We do not need a poll with hundreds of votes to make us aware of our fatness.

The worship service was awesome last night too. The river of love in my heart was spilling over, and I could not contain the joy inside. We watched a video of our Good Friday outreach. I did not look as big on film that night as I imagined. I am still overweight, but the morbidly obese Heather is gone forever.

I went to the grocery store last night so I can relax today. I fixed homemade cheese pizza yesterday with a whole wheat crust and enjoyed a few squares of an organic chocolate bar for my treat. I decided not to chase blueberry muffins all over town this weekend! I learned my lesson last Saturday!

Have a blessed Sunday! I am looking forward to my beloved Rhythmic Step this morning!

Christine, thank you for sharing that picture. Jimmy is so cute. I would love to rub that fluffy white patch of fur. He looks so soft and cuddly.

Cathy, I am glad you enjoyed your break. It sounds like you got a great workout even without the run!

Shelly, the Viper is one tough workout. The Gauntlet is my favorite on the Terminator DVD. What do you do for a living? Do you always work nights?

Linda, hugs to you.

Jackie, great race. Enjoy your well-deserved rest day!

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hi Cheetahs!

Jimmy slept upstairs with us last night in a plastic tub on a rug and a big fluffy towel (small enough for him to jump out of, but he didn’t). You have to understand that none of our dogs were ever upstairs before, and this was DH’s idea – he who confines our dogs to the family room to keep the fur in check. He’s absolutely smitten with the little guy. He slept very well! When he got restless around 5:30, I took him out. But brought him back and he settled down pretty well. Now’s he’s up and playing with a toy at my feet. EVERYTHING he does is at my feet. I trip over him when I walk him because of that. He “appears” to be housebroken – does his business as soon as I take him outside. He seems to know his name, too, which is interesting as we changed it yesterday. And he knows “sit” and the most important, “leave it” or “NO!” Especially as he finds ANYTHING left on the floor and loves to eat flowers.

Anyway, today will probably be a spin workout as I cannot imagine a step workout with a puppy attached to my feet. Then it’s grocery shopping (DH’s boss and wife are coming over for dinner and to meet Jimmy), and to get DD14 packed for her trip tomorrow to New York! Busy day. I HAVE to get my eating under control, too.

Cathy – Sorry you did not get your run in, but it sounds like you got in quite the workout anyway. And today is another day. We love the neighbors who have the poodle, but we never understood why they got him as they loved Tucker because he was so calm and just wanted to be loved. The poodle is not that way at all. She never came back after Jimmy got scared. I think she was mad. Some people…

Shelly – Uh oh!! That should be interesting. Hope your house is in one piece. I LOVE the name Spanky for a pit. How cute! Enjoy your workout today!!

Linda – here’s hoping you only get rain! It shouldn’t snow in April!!

Jackie – I was so wrapped up in my puppy that I didn’t give you the WAY TO GO! You deserve!! I’m so sorry! WAY TO GO!!! I’m so impressed!!! He was worn out from so many changes in his little life, but he seems to be settling.

Heather – I think it’s great that you had your photo taken. And way to go on going from a size 28 to an 8! I like Strength in Movement, too – it’s the only TLT I really like and it’s because of Jen.

Well, I’m off for more tea and to hopefully make it to and from the kitchen without tripping over the four legged menace. Enjoy your days everyone!

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hello again beautiful cheetahs..... especially to Heather who is truly beautiful in all ways:) :) :)

I came home to a perfect house this morning!!!! I'm so proud of my spanky. Since I've been inspired lately by Christine's Jimmy I'll post a baby picture of my Spanky.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hi Linda! Hope your weekend is going well!

Jackie- Another race next month? ooooh you're getting as crazy as me!! It'll be a 5 k for me next Saturday "The Run for the Cheetah" at the Phoenix zoo!!!! And next May I'll be doing a very challenging hilly half marathon. Have a great rest day!

Heather- It's amazing how hurtful some people can be although unintentionally (I hope). Your story of your amazing weight loss and continuing winning fight is awesome and inspiring! I love your description of yourself and the world would be a bette place if we could all view ourselves in a like manner. I am an RN and work in ICU.... been doing it for 26 yrs, mostly nights:eek:

Christine- Jimmy is already housebroken!!!  You've got yourself a special pup there! I had to smile at your description of how your DH has broken the big RULE;-) Jimmy definitely has him wrapped around his cute little fuzzy paw!

Time to get moving all! Later

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Shelly - oh Spanky is as cute as cute can be!! How sweet! And YEAH SPANKY!! What a good boy!! Love that photo! Oh yeah, the "Run for the Cheetah" Race! How appropriate. I can't wait to hear which place you took. I'm guessing first!

I ended up doing HCE #1 - it wasn't as bad as I remember LOL. I put the pup in the crate and he watched me as if I was the most amazingly odd thing he's ever seen. Every time I'd do a new move he'd cock his head as if to say, "Wow, didn't know they could move like THAT!" Too funny. He worships Kimo, and Kimo seems to be liking him, too. She "guarded" him when DH was in the back yard puttering around and Jimmy was tied in the garage. She usually is wherever DH is. We don't let him in the backyard yet because of the pool.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Jackie - I hope you enjoy your well-deserved rest day! I am signed up to run a 15k on May 12! We may be running "together"....if I don't decide not to do it :+

Heather - I am glad you are feeling better! That is great that you got your portrait taken! You are so lucky to be going on the road trip! I don't get to go ...but....I hope to go on the next one:)

Shelly - Spanky is adorable! He looks so sweet! I am so glad you still had a house when you came home ;) How old is he?

Christine - I can just see little Jimmy watching you work out! I am glad he and Kimo are getting along well. That is cute that she guarded him! My cat was very protective of Madison when we first got her. But now...Madison protects her...when she isn't chasing her ;-)

I ended up doing iTread's iTri. I really enjoyed it. I was supposed to do P90X C&B too....but I just did not feel up to it. I slept until 7:30 this morning and came home at 3:00...went back to bed and did not get up until after 5:00. That is unheard of for me.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Talk to everyone on ....ugh....Monday !!!

Linda

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hello ladies,
Just a quick check-in for me. I did Bootcamp today and it felt really good. I had no pain today from the run yesterday either. Life is good:)

Christine, Jimmy is just so cute and he will be a catheite before you know it.

Shelly, your little guy is cute too. I just love the fact that we are all animal lovers.

I am off to get some cookies out of the oven. I know why do I have cookies in the oven}( My clean eating will have to wait until tomorrow. Thank goodness for Mondays;-)

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Just checking to see how everyone's weekend went.

Heather - Your posts are always so inspirational. Love your desription of yourself. Congratulations on the 2 lbs. gone!! I know your pictures will be beautiful. I can tell your heart is beautiful. As I was huffing and puffing up that last hill yesterday, a little girl came by and said you can do it, less than a 1/2 mile to go. The back of her shirt read "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". That gave me encouragement to kick it up a notch as I was heading towards that finish line.

Christine - I can tell Jimmy is making you and dh so happy. It's nice that he's already housebroken. Sounds like he fitting in quite nicely.

Shelly - Spanky is so cute too. Looks like he lives the life of luxury. My DBF has a parrot and I always tease him that the bird lives better than humans. He has no worries whatsoever. How did shopping and the run go? Do you see the kind of influence you have on me? LOL!! Know you'll have an easy time with the 5K. Now that I know the race I participated in yesterdad is an annual event for a 5K, half and full marathon, I can put it on my calendar. May go for the half next year.

Linda - That would be nice if we could run a race on the same day. I haven't signed up for my 10K yet because they haven't put the information on the website yet. Hope you feel more rested.

Susan - Glad you're running pain free. You'll be back in the thick of things before you know it. I just had 2 Girl Scout cookies and the last of the two boxes I bought.

Have a good night everyone!

Jackie

Cheetahs Check-in

Good evening, Cheetahs! I hope everyone had a delightful weekend!

I enjoyed my beloved Rhythmic Step this morning and did the abs and stretch from Butts and Guts tonight. In between those workouts, I took a long nap and went outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. I put stickers on my Cathe calendar to bring it up to date, did a few loads of laundry, and packed my meals and snacks for tomorrow. I am so grateful to feel good again.

Christine!!! A size 8 is my goal. I am not there yet, but I am on target to reach my goal by the end of this year.

Shelly, your puppy looks so peaceful in that picture. I am glad he did not tear up your home while you were working all night. With SAD, I would have a really hard time working a night shift. I need plenty of sunshine to thrive!

Linda, hugs to you.

Susan, enjoy those cookies tonight!

Jackie, what an inspirational message to read on that last hill!

Wendy and Carole, hugs to both of you. I missed y’all this weekend!

Sunny, are you still training around the clock?

Blessings,
Heather B.
