Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs!

Carole :: it is interesting that there are some universal experiences in the grieving process. I agree that it does come in waves…you don’t know what will trigger it, either. I was a Daddy's girl growing up, too.

Laurie :: what an excellent way to describe that – we’re zebras when the rest of the world is horses. Wow. That is *precisely* the feeling. I talk about this a lot w/ a friend of mine who lost her mother very suddenly in April 05…I think she’s still very much a zebra...I worry about her. How was your ankle yesterday?

Wendy :: OK, that is one I don’t have. I groaned when I read about your x-mas eve tradition…it sounds like what my extended family used to do. About five years ago, I convinced them to go to a Pollyanna, and then two years ago, we switched to a “Yankee” swap, similar to what Christine did last week or so. It’s fun, and nobody’s trotting home dollar-store knickknacks and trying to figure out what the hell to do with them. I wouldn’t mind us donating money to a charity instead of gifts, but I don’t think we’ll get that far with this group…lol.

Shelly :: I didn’t even preview DrillMax yet. It is the one cover where Cathe looks mean, so I’ve been afraid to take off the plastic…lol. Good workout yesterday!

Katrina :: yes, sometimes there are distractions…waiting for lights is one…and lately, the honkers and screamers have been out in full force. I am usually more focused on watching traffic – people around here drive like nuts…they do not seem to want to slow down and acknowledge that the WHITE PAINTED CRISS-CROSS LINES GIVE *me* THE RIGHT OF WAY – helloooo!! Great job on the 8 miles.

Linda :: glad you’re enjoying running in the cooler weather. Great run! Hope today isn’t too chaotic. I worked like a beast yesterday, as you know, so I could veg today. I LOVE that feeling. I used to dread Sundays when I left everything on my "to-do list" til then.

Susan :: LIC + DrillMax! WOW! I previewed LIC yesterday, and although it probably looks simple to all of you, I think I’m going to have to take the “Around the World for Dummies” class. :: LOL :: I find it so hard to learn those step moves when I face her/the TV. I really need to be *behind* somebody to pick up the moves more easily. So, what do you think makes DM better than BC?

Yesterday I logged in 6 miles and followed with the GS BSB Timesaver premix. Today I'm tempted to run again, but I think I'll try B&G. I managed to get all of my schoolwork done...I just have to write one one-page paper for one of my grad classes, so I really have the whole day to myself and no specific agenda. It's a beautiful thing!

Have a great Sunday, everyone!
Cathy :)

Good mornin' cheetahs,

I didn't get a chance to check'in yesterday or workout, was just too busy.

today i am going to run however i am trying really hard right now to force myself to go outside in the cold and run. i don't want to because i am such a wimp when it comes to cold weather however i think i need to since i am doing the 5 k in a couple of weeks. i'll check back in later to let you know i was was brave or wimped out;-) .

cathy- let me know what you think of b&g. from what i've read seems as though everyone is loving it!:) so far the only new one i've tried is LIC and i really liked it. i believe you will too.

ttyl....:D

Good Morning Ladies.

Cathy: I did all of the standing leg work from B&G in my mish-mosh y'day and LOVED it! It's a burner for sure and not the run of the mill exercises either! I definately can feel it in my derierre this morning!}(

Sunny: Get out there girl! That's where I'm headed in about 30 minutes!:)

I am headed off to the park to meet my friend for a cold 9am run this morning. We will probably run the 5K course of the very first race I was supposed to run back in the summer.

I may not be able to get back here until tonight...Hope everyone has a great day!:)

Wendy- we will be running "together" today!;-) .

i forgot to mention earlier, i got my new running shoes on friday and i really beginning to feel like a real cheetah!!:D

just wondering, does anyone use those energy gels? if so, how do you like them?

G'Day Ladies:) Sounds like the new workouts are a hit with everyone! No cardio for me today I'll do a BodyPump workout and some yoga/pilates stuff. My ankle is still not happy and it's a bit more sore today. The PT did his most aggresive work yet on Tuesday and I think he overworked it. Anyhoo....I found out yesterday that I stink at fixing toilets (pun intended:+ :p ) so I'll borrow my friend's brother tomorrow and see if he can figure it out. The Girls and I will head over to my friend Ruth's place and spend the day with her and her son. He's 16 and an awesome skateboarder, he's like a cousin to my Girls but the Girls sure seem to enjoy meeting Jacob's friends! Should be a fun day!

Cathy, aaahhhh...Sunday, 'no agenda, the whole day to yourself', sounds lovely. Savour and enjoy!:)

Sunny, did you brave the cold or what!!}( Some days, getting started is sooo hard!!

Wendy, hope you have a good run run with your friend. It's not too cold here, just grey and drizzley.

Okay, I'm off to WORK IT}( :7

Take Care
Laurie:)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...you are so right not knowing when those waves will hit! There is a song "Forever" by Kenny Loggins and that triggers tears about everytime I hear it...Good job on the 6 miler! B&G is a toughie..I know my glutes were saying "enough already" when I got to the floor work.

Sunny...it can be hard getting out in the cold, but once you get to running it usually feels better! I like Accelerade gel but lately, I have been using these things called
"Sharkies"...I have a tough time with anything too sweet...

Wendy...you are sweet, but running to NY?...nah...:)..this was the 1st time for B&G...wow!! That was an awesome mish mosh yesterday!! I'll have to copy that one!! Have fun running with your friend...:)

Laurie...I know a few people that feel the same about the waves of greif, and yes, it is very comforting...:)...The new DVD's are definitiely worth the wait...cute toilet pun! I hope you can get it fixed. Sorry about the ankle...will you have more PT this coming week?

Shelly...good job on the 7.5 miles! I would like to try the BM2 Bootcamp sometime, it does sound fun. I think B&G is the best of Cathe's endurance leg workouts!

Jennifer...good luck with your new plan. I would think in 2 weeks you wouldn't loose alot of stamina but the 1st run after the 2 weeks can just be a hard run...:)

Katrina..good job on 8 miles outdoors! Not alot of people or cars in most of the areas I run these days so not much distraction! We do see alot of wildlife, mostly deer this time of year.

Linda..B&G is a great workout!! I don't know if you have to qualify for NYC?...I thought Boston was the only qualifier. Great run for you yesterday in the cold! I don;t mind the cold or rain but hate running in cold wind and rain!

Susan...LIC sounds like fun. I'm doing it tomorrow. Way to go with Drillmax!! I have only done the drills so far from the Cardio Fusion DVD.

Well...B&G is my fav now!! The warm-up with the stabilty ball is so creative and not the same ole stuff. The standing goes by fast and the Firewalkers are so fun!! Cathe has you laughing as you do them..I really liked the ab/core work starting out with the 5 lb wts and ankle weights! I even liked the planks...and I usually hate those...and DOMS?....YEP!!! In the glutes and inner thighs...

I will be doing a 10-12 mile run today, should be fun with the DOMS! Not raining today so that is good...

Have a great day...:)

Happy Sunday cheetahbabes! It's crisp and cold outside and I'm also trying to talk myself into getting out there! It's a common malady today it seems like:p

Katrina- Great job with the 8 mile run yesterday. My problem with outdoor runs for me is just the opposite....not enough distractions.I live far out from town and even when I run on roads there is little traffic and I see no one. Distractions are an aid to me anyway...keeps my mind off of how far I've run!

Linda- Another cold weather running warrior! I can only run in shorts and Tshirts in the afternoon. Morning runs here I have to bundle up like the rest of you. It is in the 30s now in fact. (I'm in northern Arizona)

Wendy- Great mish-mosh yesterday! Have a great buddyrun today! I've often wished for a running partner....there's so few people out where I live, much less runners:) There's a local running group that does meet in town but I have to drive 1/2 hr just to get there first!

Susan- And I complain about my pesky playful kitty getting on my keyboard....a guinea pig??? That's a new one! I absolutely LOVE drillmax also. I think it is fast becoming my favorite:7

Cathy- Wow.... a whole day to do what you want.....such a luxury for you!! B&G is a fantastic choice for you. Such a fun a creative bun burner of a workout! I never really noticed the cover of DM....I guess she does look a little mean in it....there's a good reason}(

SunnyD-- Hope you are braving the cold and getting out there....I need to do the same!! What shoes did you get????? I've just ordered the new Asics 2120s.

Laurie- Sorry about your ongoing toilet woes.. I guess men do come in a little handy now and then. I'm fortunate enough to be married to a Mr. Fixit. We've been together almost 22 yrs and havent yet had a repairman over. Have a great time with your bodypump class!

Carole- I figured B&G would be a hit with you! Hope the DOMS isn't hindering your run too much!

Today I'm going (hopefully) for the same distance as Carole- 10 miles. It will be my longest run since my groin pull injury. I can run comfortably as long as I keep it slow. Very frustrating for me....I like going fast }(

later...

I hope it's just that it was the first run, and that the next one will be easier :).

Oh well, I did say that I was in this for life, so if I have the rest of my life to get better in running, then I have plenty of time, right? ;)

Jennifer

B&G done! YOWZAS! I love it!

Sunny :: <nudge nudge> hope you got out there to brave the cold! It can be tough getting started, but once you're out there and moving, I usually find the air invigorating! Enjoy the new kicks - it's always fun breaking a new pair in. What kind did you get? No, I do not use the energy gels.

Wendy :: enjoy your run today! I have a feeling I'm gonna be hobbling around tomorrow. I don't think I've ever worked my butt as hard!

Laurie :: sorry to hear about your ankle getting a little too tweaked. :) about the toilet joke. Yes, I now have the rest of the day to myself, so I will do just that - savor every second!

Carole :: I agree - I LOVE this workout and am so pumped about the results I'm anticipating. I did laugh during/after the firewalkers. Cathe's face was priceless. What really killed me were the lunges done without weights. Whoo!

I think that's everbody who posted...hope I didn't miss anyone. Will possibly check in again later if I can.

ttyl-
cathy :)

Good Sunday morning cheetahs!

I'm popping in for a quick check-in b4 I do my weekly grocery shopping. I did BM2 today....Wow...Wow..and yes WOW!;-), this workout, as most of you know by now is 98 minutes!! It's great and it really tests you. It's bad enough that I have a little DOMs in my quads from yesterday's run, then I had to go and add this workout. I started to just do the step and powercircuit segments but I just kept going, after a short intermission of adding one load of laundry in the machine (lol). If I don't knock off my last 10 pds from this new series, something is definitely wrong ;-)!

Have a great day everyone,

Katrina

Hello ladies,

Laurie- sigh, no i didn't go outside. i decided i needed to preview BM@ so i hopped on the treadmill...welllll, that sounds like a good excuse doesn't it, lol

carole- i am so amazed at you ladies tht can run for so longl what is a sharkie? can you buy online?

shelly- i know you can do it!! let us know how you make out. i got some saucony's. can't remember the model #. i felt like i was
running on pillows:D

cathy- i wimped out:eek: . oh well tomorrow is another day. you guys are making me want to move B& G up on my rotation:D .

i did 4 miles on the treadmill today and then the abs from BM2. i previewed this workout today and all i can say is WOW!

hello to all the cheetahs to follow:)

Good morning ladies,

I am still so happy about my workouts yesteday. Gosh, I love Cathe so much. She just makes me so happy:)

I am going to do the Step portion of BM2 and then the standing portion of butts and Gutts.

My sciatica is not bothering me at all today, YAY!!!! I am going to my chiro tomorrow for my first adjustment and then the massage therapist on Tuesday.

Cathy, Ooh, do butts and guts and we can compare notes. This will be my first time as well. I still have not thrown out the halloween stuff, but only had one three musketeer yesterday.

Sunnydelite, I have to say, it would be hard for me to get out in the cold too. I would definitley wimp out and use my treadmill.

Wendy, have a great run!

Laurie, Sorry your ankle is bugging you today. It amazing how we all can work through these injuries and still get great workouts. I have a body pump workout that I really enjoy. Have a great day!

Carole, you will love all of DM. It is so much fun and so incredibly creative. I love the ball work she does.

Shelly, I am glad your running is going well. You will get your speed back in time. Yes, we have guinea pigs that run around our house and they pretty much jump in your lap if you are on the floor. The girls love to put them on my keyboard.

Jennifer, great attitude with your running. I think we all need to say that to ourselves that this is a long term thing and that we have the rest of our lives to workout. It is okay to slow down now and then. I am still learning that.

Cathy, sounds like you enjoyed B and G. I am next!

I found this post on the dvd forum about the breakdown of all the pre-mixes. I will post it for you. It is priceless.

There is a great thread over at VideoFitness that breaks them down really well: http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=94096

Have a great day ladies. And, hello to all of the other lovely ladies!

Cheers!
Susan

Shelly...yes I am sure feeling B&G after my run!!! Have fun on your 10!

Jennifer...yes I truly believe the next run will be a bit easier....I think we are all in this for life...and a darn healthy choice!!

Cathy...What killed me were the low pulse lunges with the 5 lb weight....HOLY MOLY!!!! My quads were screaming...:)

Katrina...BM2 is great fun!!

Sunny...here is a link to the Sharkies http://www.sharkiesinc.com/index2.cfm I use them in a long run after about 8 miles...good job on the TM!

Susan...I am not sure on the rotation when I am doing Drillmax...but looking forward to it. I agree isn't that link for the premixes great!!! I copied it into notepad and saved it on my PC!

Well I did 11 miles....it wasn't too cold, about 52 and cloudy. But now..I seem to be feeling more DOMS from B&G.....}(

Hello again cheetahs! I'm back following Carole again! ;-)
I went for the 10 miles....slow as a turtle I'm afraid but at least I'm running. (sigh....patience grasshopper!) The pain receptors in my right groin activate the minute I pick up the pace. I suppose that's a good thing in that it will keep me from reinjuring myself.
I imagine it will be a football afternoon for Carole :)
I hope the rest of you fabulous cheetahs have a great day!

Whoops, I didn't see Shelly & Jennifer sneak their posts in there earlier.

Shelly :: I have been thoroughly enjoying a relaxing afternoon. It's such a beautiful day, I was tempted to go for a run, but I think it's better I didn't...I'm sure I'll be paying the price for B&G by itself. Glad you were able to get in a run. Slow is better than none, right?

Sunny :: a run's a run...there's always tomorrow to tackle the outdoors. I just bought new gloves today...they're a little bit lighter than the ones I have.

Susan :: I am already starting to feel DOMS setting in from B&G. Tomorrow will be interesting, that's for sure.

Carole :: yes! OMG! Those slow pulse lunges were rough! As I'm grimacing & groaning through all these workouts, I'm always amazed at how composed Cathe & crew appear to be.

Well, have a great rest of your Sunday, all! I'm heading over to a friend's for wings & beers and some moaning about our men troubles.:)

-cathy

Good afternoon cheetahs. I ran 16 miles today. When I finished at 10:30 it was 70 degrees out and the sun was blazing. I think I got a little overheated because I felt really bad. But I came home, stretched, had a protien smoothie and a nice ice bath so feel great now. Got done with all of the above in time to watch NBCs replay of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place men crossing the finish line in NY and then watched Lance get his sub 3! It's turning out to be a wonderful day. This afternoon I'll be cooking dinner and taking it to my SILs house where we will all eat together. I do feel for her. It was hard enough losing my brother but I can't imagine how I would handle losing my DH! I mean, essentially, he is my life being there throughout all of it, the ups and downs, everything. I know it's going to take her time, probably a long time, and it's so hard to see her in such pain. Laurie, do you suppose there is anything at all that I can do for her?

Cathy, I have nerver tried the timesaver premixes on any of the Gym Styles. Do you feel pretty worked out from them? I haven't even opened any of my new Cathe's! How did you like B&G?

Sunny, It's funny because today it was too hot to run comfortably and I'm hoping for cooler weather next weekend! I'm wimpy too when it comes to extremes in weather and that is the one thing I love the most about living where I do.

Carole, You mentioned the song Forever that makes you cry. Well I have always felt such tugs at my heart when I hear the song Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton. This is kind of weird but the day my brother died my niece called me that morning and told me that it would probably be a good idea to try and make it down to see him before the weekend so I went down for a couple of hours that afternoon after I picked up my kids from school. I got back home from that visit and had just fed the kids dinner when my niece called and said that I should come back right then because my brother had taken a turn for the worse. When I was about 1/4 mile from his house that Tears In Heaven Song came on the radio and that was exactly when he died because I didn't quite make it in time.

Shelly, So glad you are mending and I know what you mean about having to take it slower than normal. But I'm sure you'll be up to speed in no time! I don't think DH is going to run R&R. He's got some other plan cooked up with a buddy of his and I think they will be running a 1/2 in Utah one week before the marathon. That's not for certain yet but likely. Dang!

Wendy, How did the cold 9am run go?

Hi to Jennifer, Katrina and Susan.

Talk to you all later!
