christine,

I am almost 38 and also experiencing more female problems which doesnt help either. I noticed around 21my body changed then around 26,27 and it seemed to taper out thru my early 30's up until the past 3 months or so. It is very depressing and yes the winter months doesnt help any. I too hope to resolve this. when I first started teaching bootcamp class I dropped down a few and thought cool that is what I needed but within a couple months , back up again. I am an active person that is what gets me. There is a girl at work that doesnt workout at all, always been able toeat what she wants and she is going tobe 30 next month and she says she now has to watch what she eats more because she says she has gained wt but I dont see it. I get frustrated when people who arent active dont really gain and here I workout at least 5days a week and I have no luck in losing wt. my body is so stubborn and it makes me so mad and wonder why bother doing anything but exercise is now a part of my everyday life as a stress reliever as well. It just would be nice to reap some wt loss. oh well. enough of my whining, talk with ya later!!

Oh Laura I HEAR YOU!!! When I lived in Albuquerque I had a friend who never worked out and ate easily 4000-5000 calories a day, and was 5'6 and weighed 110 pounds. Could not gain weight to save her life. Used to drive me nuts because I have never been thin, and never will. Just to maintain my weight I have to workout like a fiend and watch what I eat. But, you know, my DH and I have a friend like that, too. He has never been overweight, but he has all sorts of health problems because he never "needed" to workout and eat right. Aside from my thyroid which is enlarged, but sending out normal amounts of all the right hormones, I'm healthy. And the doc said if I didn't workout like I do, and eat right, chances are I would have major problems. So, the reality is that as annoying as it is to have to work out and eat well just to maintain a good weight, we are actually the lucky ones as we are forced to eat well and exercise and that's what will save extend not only our lives, but our quality of life in the long run.
