CHEETAHS...spring break monday!!!

Dallas - I'm sorry to hear about your DH's coaching woes. I hate the political BS that goes on in sports. It takes all the fun out of playing. To answer your questions, I haven't been back to the doctor yet. My knee is getting stronger, but it is still not strong enough to do any exercises yet. I tried to do standing unweighted leg extensions (only 10) a week after going to the urgent treatment doctor per her advice, but my knee hurt really bad that night from doing them. For 1 1/2 weeks I was taking my anti-inflammatory medicine until it ran out. I'm thinking I might go back to the doctor the end of this week if my knee doesn't start doing better. Oh, I wish I had a magic wand too. How cool would that be?!

Kristi: Sorry your knee isn't healing fast enough. I can only imagine how you feel. I would be DYING by now! Are you doing u/b work atleast?

Dallas: Sounds like you are rockin' the X girl! WOO HOO! I can't say I don't ENJOY the big parties that my DH's crazy family throw but I am not one to do that and sometimes I feel like I SHOULD. x( Perhaps if we ever live in a bigger house I will WANT to throw big to-do's like that but right now we simply do not have the room to even THINK about it and to have to rent a hall every time would cost a pretty penny. We rented a hall for DS' Christening Party. It was nice and all and I don't regret it but not the type of thing I want to do all of the time for every little thing, you know? I've gone to Holy Communion and Confirmation parties that are like mini-weddings. I don't agree with it AT ALL! I also went to a high school grad party like that. I don't know...maybe it's just me but I think it's way over the top.

Okay, I'll be back after dinner I guess. I'm makin' meatloaf tonight. YUM!!!:9 Anyone wanna come over for dinner? ;)

Good, ahem, evening ladies!

I know, I know, smack me I deserve it :p...thanks Wendy! I was supposed to get back here this morning for personals and then one thing led to another and this is the first chance I've had to get back here.

My mish mosh workout for today was LaundryMax, followed by a little CookMax, 6.75 mile run (legs were like lead to start so I almost thought about stopping at 3 but got my running legs back and just kept going), another round of LaundryMax/Cookmax, a little ErrandMax and then lunch with DSO. Yup, I think I got it all LOL :p. I had planned to do much of this *after* lunch but DSO took the afternoon off so we could spend some time together as I probably won't see him until Thursday night with the week I've got lined up ahead of me. Oh, and there's no way in he!! PP or PH is going to happen tonight! I still have a ton of stuff to get done.

Well, since I'm soooooo behind I'll just jump right in with today...

Lorie - Nice visit to that sanctuary...loved the pics! Enjoy every minute of your break...I know you'll get some monster workouts in }(. Soooo, what did you decide on today?

Cathy - I hope getting back into the swing of things wasn't too rough today. Although I'll never run a full mary I would love to cheer you guys on!!!

Sunny - Glad you're able to break out the heavier weights again...enjoy!

Kath - LOL about all the "traffic" you have to dodge when you run! Great job running with those cement blocks...I was right there with you in that department today ;).

Christine - Enjoy ETK!!! That sounds like it's right up your alley. I'm sorry to hear about your sucky working conditions...when/why did that happen ??? Glad you had a wonderful trail run this weekend. I was almost tempted to head up north today to hit the trails but knew I just wasn't going to have enough time.

Wendy - Yeah, yeah, I know I'm bad :p! And, no, I didn't even end up with another cup of java. I think you are wise (although I'm certainly no expert) to get have a confident 18 miler first. It looks like you'll have a lot of races to choose from when the time is right.

Carole - Congrats on getting that workout room cleaned out! Good luck with your GS rotation! I do love that bench...too bad I don't have anywhere to put it and I think I have enough "toys" for now.

Shelly - Oooooh, good luck with the garage...always the worst x(! Nice workouts today!!!

Dallas - Glad that you're up and at 'em today. Great job on those stairs! So sorry about the soccer BS...parents really do go a bit overboard with stuff like this and I think it's completely ridiculous. They are 10 year olds playing a *GAME*, and it seems they've been *very* successful so far! When my foot issue flared up I had to lay off all cardio so I stayed with weight work only for about 6 weeks, alternating between endurance and heavy. Well, between that and some not so good eating, I've found myself with an extra 8 lbs (10 at one point) that needs to go "bye bye" ASAP. For me that means running and cardio and very little weight work, some circuits are okay but I need to keep the weight lighter. I love how my strength improved but I don't fit in much of my clothing right now...and I certainly don't mean that they're too big ;).

Kristi - So sorry to hear that your knee isn't coming around as quickly as it should. Hang in there hon {{{{HUGS}}}}.

Judy - Huge congrats to your DS for playing so well! I'm sorry they weren't able to advance but I'm sure it was an experience they will never forget. Besides, it gives them something to shoot for next year!

Waves HI to the rest of Cheetahville!

I must get going if I have any chance of making a dent in the rest of my "to do" list. Hasta manana!

Hi ladies, I'm back with a question.

I was reading on another forum, that before you run again (if you're a beginner and just starting out) that you should wait till your shins stop hurting? What is everyone's take on this? I was going to run tomorrow, but since my shins are still sore I was thinking about waiting till Saturday. Any thoughts?

Hi again, cheetahs! :)

Driving to work today, I was thinking about the marathon issue some more and am now leaning toward Chicago in October. Like Disney, I know it is a good pick for beginners, and I’m thinking the timing of it may be better for me than January, after all. Simply: I feel it is time for me to go and do this. I don't know what kind of news I will be getting in November, so it would be great to have this to work toward, to stay focused on a personal goal in the meantime, and then hopefully have this accomplishment under my belt.

That being said, I will definitely keep all other cheetah GTGs/races in mind and would love to be a part of whatever I can.

Kath :: Oh my gosh, how horrible about the poor dog. So you fished out the shorts. I like your plan to buy whatever you forget to pack.

Christine :: I’d be sour about that setup, too. Why the cram? I'm not usually a Monday hater, but today it was tough to get up. :)

Wendy :: I absolutely understand and respect your decision. IA--the Rock n’ Rolls definitely look like a BLAST. (I would have *loved* to do San Diego, but it’s already in June.) The cruise does, too, but I know that’s out for me b/c I don’t have any vacation time like that in February. Of course, there is no one GTG that is going to work for *everyone*, so I think we just have to keep plannin’ ‘em. :7 Anyway, I hope it works out for some of the rest of you.

Carole :: hills?! http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/scared/scared0014.gif *lol* For a marathon, that scares me! :7 I really would love to come out there for Bay to Breakers next May. Would you be up for that one?

Lorie aka WT :) :: so,what do you think of Chicago? I am OK with running solo if it’s not do-able or of interest to anyone else—that’s totally cool. But of course, I would love it if others were game. BTW, you look adorable in the cowboy hat—and all your pics. What a tiny thing you are! How much are you lovin' break right now?

Shell : : good luck packing up the garage! Hope it isn’t too bad. You are the bomb in terms of cheetah support. It may not work out now, but just the offer to run with us is so appreciated. :) :) :)

Dallas :: we missed you, too. :) That’s the way I feel about my cert, too. That really stinks that DH is taking flack for playing the girls equally. I don’t think it’s healthy when things are too competitive at that level. Teach kids to love the sport when they’re young and to win and lose gracefully. That’s what it’s all about, IMO.

Kristi :: sorry the healing’s going slowly. Hang in there!

I did a 2 mile run this afternoon. Am following one of Galloway's conservative 26-week training plans.

Have a great night!

ETA: Wendi :: glad you enjoyed some quality time with DSO. Great job soldiering on through your run! Nope, it wasn't bad. I just needed to wake up. I always get pumped once I'm in school, esp. when the kids come in. They are a trip.

Jennie :: Personally, I would see how your shins feel tomorrow. If they still hurt, then I might rest (from running) another day or two. Ice is good, too.

Christine – Thanks for all the info on the KBs! I am anxious to hear what you think of the rotation, or following that plan. I would like to try it soon, but for now, I think I will have to mix in some traditional. Those Turkish Getups were soooo hard for me!

Cathy – Still no word on your EKB? I am with you on keeping all in mind….and if it is at all possible for me to run any of them with anyone…I will and would love to!!!

Wendy – The Flying Pig was one that I had originally thought I might do! But…I am not ready. It is in May, isn’t it? I guess I would be ready for the ½, but not the full. Yummy! Meatloaf!!!

Kristi – Yes, that would be cool if you had a wand to wave in front of your knee! Sending healing vibes your way!

Dallas – Yep! Still doing a little KBing. Not a lot, though! Glad you are getting your energy back! Great workouts!

Shelly – I didn’t get to do the Stability ball part of Sharon’s!
Shoot! I need to do that! I am glad you reminded me of it! When I did hers, I did another workout with it and didn’t have time to do that section. That is great that you are doing your first East Coast marathon!!!! Good job on HLK! You are going to do ITR, too?

Kath – Good job on your run! Sorry about your feet feeling heavy, though. Oh my. How very sad about the dog. I love dogs. It kills me to hear about them being abused….and the story you just shared is so sad. I have a lab. She is definitely one of the family!

Lorie – Thanks for sharing the link of the sanctuary! Enjoy your run!
Enjoy your break!!

Wendi – Your run sounded good! (after you got your legs back!) Enjoy your day off of work! Wish it was my day off of work! :<(

Sunny – I am interested in what you think of the rotation after a few weeks! Will be waiting to hear! :>) Like I said, I have the book…..but it will take me a while to decide to do it :<) Good job!

Today was a rest day for me. Monday, Monday! Blah!

Hope everyone has a good evening!

Linda

Hi Cheetahs –

I’m not one to be down for long. I’m using the “on top of each other” at the office as a way to enable. (Yeah, I think it’s in my blood). I got an email for the Wharf to Wharf run in Santa Cruz (http://www.wharftowharf.com/). It’s a 10k, a little hilly, but runs right along the ocean, so it’s very pretty. And it ends in Capitola where everyone meets to have drinks. It’s a fun little race. I’ve gotten 4 of my 5 team members to at least think about it (have to check schedules), and the 5th will do it if he’s free. I told the two girls that I would run/walk with them. It’s more about doing it as a team than running for the glory – and I’ve already run this one a few times.

ETK was actually harder than I thought. It’s a 10 minute warm up that is fairly easy. Then it’s 12 minutes of 20 swings, followed by a minutes of “active rest” – and that is jumping jacks, burpees, mountain climbers, etc. More active than rest. I think I’m really going to enjoy this. I’m feeling it in my hips a bit from the swings. Never did before. Tomorrow is the same warm up followed by 5 solid minutes of Turkish Get Ups. I’m going to try the first few with my 12k (26 lb) bell. I’m scared… :O!

Wendy – you need to run when you are ready. There will be lots of marys out there for you! We’re going to give the new space a try, and if it doesn’t work, complain up a storm…

Carole – Nice workout! It was a nice run – a few sprinkles, but it was nice to be outside. Weather was weird, wasn’t it? My heaviest kb right now is a 12k (26 lb), but I can see I’ll need a 35 pounder soon, at least for swings. I might just do a double swing with 30 pounds in the interim – we’ll see.

Lorie – Bless your rescue lady for doing that. People who do things like that are truly amazing. Interesting info about the Disney Marathon. I’d have thought it would be more through the park, park, but I guess 26 miles is a long way to plan!

Kath – my next dog will be rescue as well. Get some packing done. :p But, hmm, you’re right – if you forget it you can buy it. :+

Shelly – I did a Napa 10k and we had our names on our bibs – I agree it was so cool! I think you’d enjoy ETK – but I’m not sure it’ll be tough enough for you, but… :p

Wendy – the Napa marathon is gorgeous. Wine country is beautiful. But the Alaska Marathon sounds incredible!

Dallas – Sounds like a nice you had. I’m sorry DS was so sick! That’s not fun for either of you! I don’t know about the Chicago half being off. If everyone is talking about postponing the mary, then maybe Chicago is back on? I like the ETB rotation so far. I’m looking forward to getting the book so I can the philosophy behind the rotation

Kristi – oh, I so hope your knee heals soon!

Wendi – Oh a trail run would have been nice, but I totally understand with the time! Sounds like you had a nice day off. So sweet of DSO to take time off!!!

Jennie - I’d wait. Sometimes pushing through pain like that is just not good.

Cathy – WOW! You’re thinking SOON for your mary!! But I think they also have a half – so maybe I’ll join you for that!

Well, time to get moving. Have a great evening everyone!

Edited to add - hey Linda! Ya snuck in there on me! Absolutely understand that you want to keep some traditional - it's all about what works for you. Turkish Get Ups get easier with time. Those are really all about form. If you keep you shoulder blade locked back and down and simply rotate your arm as you stand it's a lot easier and the work is more in your core. Practice with a little cup of water - you don't want the water to spill. It makes SUCH a difference. I can do TGU's with a 20 pound bell, and I'll try tomorrow with a 26 pound one.

Christine - I will try that next time! Thanks! I just could not figure out how to really "feel" it. Oh my!!! a 20 pounder! I did it with a 10! :+ :+ Good luck with the 26! After I get a little "better" with KBs, I will gradually add in more, in place of traditional weights. (at least that is the "plan" ;-) ) My goodness! ETK sounds tough, to me! Five solid minutes of TG's?? Oh my! The race sounds really nice! That sounds like the scenery is beautiful!

Cathy: So you are planning on doing the Chicago Marathon THIS year, correct? WHOA! You go girl! That's awesome!}( Perhaps if/when I decide on one for next year you will be ready to do a 2nd. :)

Wendi: I knew you were busy today. Sorry you couldn't even sneak in that extra java. I *always* make time for java. I have priorities you know. ;)

Linda: Yeah the Flying Pig is in May I think but I had mentioned it for 2009, not this year. It probably wouldn't work for me anyway. I am seriously leaning towards the TX Rock and Roll Marathon in November 09 as of right now.

Christine: Running the 10k with your coworkers sounds like fun! I hope they all are up for it. :) As far as complaining goes...You know what they say...The squeaky wheel gets the oil!}(

Time to put the munchkin to bed!

BFN!:+

Hi Cheetahs!

I'm sorry I didn't have time to check in today. Work has been keeping me a little busier than usual. Maybe I can catch up tomorrow.

I did get a workout in today. Did Ripped 1000 using my Bosu. Great little burn. Now, I'm trying to get settled so that I can watch Memphis and Kansas in the NCAA championship tonight.

Hope you all had a good day. Have a good night!

Jackie

Thanks again ladies. I think I'll give it a couple more days and see how my shins are feeling.

Are you guys always this busy?

Hi there Jennie!! I'm sorry I missed welcoming you the first time around. Heehee, yeah, we are quite a chatty bunch around here...are you game }(? Just kidding! Welcome aboard...I have to say that this is the most supportive bunch of wonderful women that you will ever meet! Why not go for a brisk walk, maybe some hills, and get those legs loosened up a bit? It might help to alleviate some of the discomfort. Oh, and congrats on being smoke free!

Okay, perhaps I am off my rocker but I just finished PLB in full! I thought I might have the oomph to do yoga tonight since I blew it off this afternoon. Still wasn't feelin' it tonight but wanted to work out so I knocked out the leg work out I was going to do tmrw instead. }( }(

I am still going to try to make a point of getting in PPY#2 before I leave on Thursday!!! Hold me to it ladies!

Looks like everyone's pretty much settled in for the night and won't be posting any more so I'll be back in the morning too.

Good Night!:)
