Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs!

I goofed last night. I napped on the couch and didn't wake up til 9 pm! So I missed my workout. Will bust a** today to make up for it.

Not too many posts to catch up with from last night except:

Laura :: I was following Cathe's January rotation (modified) and now I have started a homemade Feb rotation based on suggestions from Kathryn & Carolyn.

Have a great day, everyone!
Cathy :)

Good morning Cheetahs,

Hope to get some KB in today. Not sure which tape or combo of tapes...TBA
Still on the fence about whether I can do the long run tomorrow outside in super cold temps. We shall see..

I hope everyone has a great weekend...

Shelly—Congrats on the elliptical purchase. Smart idea to try out a bunch of them before purchasing.

Susan—It seems like your breaks and changes to your exercise program to help heal are really paying off!

Cathy—the bread recipe is actually not a time killer—you just have to plan starting the dough 18 hours in advance. But there is little work involved, which is kind of the fun of it.

Gayle & Linda & Elaine & Christine & Kristi- I tried using the same baking method as the original recipe using a stock pot with a regular whole grain bread recipe (made the dough in a bread machine, but baked it in the pot..) and it turned out nicely…The original recipe though turns out great with little effort involved.

Gayle—I’m going to try that cake recipe you posted on the open forum. Good luck tomorrow

:)

A few more:

Cathy--on Thurs. I started the dough at 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. (took 3 minutes-- then it sat for 18 hours) before left for work. Then the next morning, finished it. ...so the issue is more having 3 hours after the dough is ready: it rises (2 hours-you could leave) & then it bakes (30" lid on and 15-30" lid off)......

Elaine—great to “see” you back. I added your marathon (amazing and inspiring that you are doing another!) to the list. Glad the tenants from hell are where they belong: out of your rental propery!

Laura—cold as cold can get here in Michigan…3 degrees this morning. Glad you are feeling better about your weight.

Christine—I’m sorry about the fall. Glad you are doing ok with it. And great workout though to show for it. I tried Quinoa and wasn’t crazy about it. What did you think? I tried Amaranth awhile back, same deal—not crazy about it, but I’d give it another go. Thanks for sharing the butt dust story. LOL

Sunny—good luck on P90x! My DH is doing a rotation for the 2nd time now and liking it...he really connects with Tony

Wendy—good job on CS x2..and MIC! You go girl!

Carole -- I'm thinking of checking out Naturade soy-free protein powder for smoothies on some days. Have you tried this? There was a post about it on the open forum.

Ok, I’m outa’ time gotta' get to the workout before work today. Hi to everyone else and anyone I missed. Have a great day everyone…
Barb

Barb :: that's not bad at all. I will have to go back to y'day's thread and check out the link.

I hear you on the cold temps. I *could* get out there & run, but it's only 22...I'd rather kickbox. With the cold expected to hang around for awhile, I imagine it will be more TM and kickboxing for me in the next few weeks.

Cathy :)

Cathy--the upside of the weather is that it pushes you to be flexible.!
See if the recipe appeals to you. It is little work, but involves time planning (not my strong suit) but it seems like you are definitely great at time planning. (In under 12 days, Cathy designs, orders, collects money for, and delivers the Cheetah shirts! ! I couldn't coordinate this without an IV of chocolate)

Barb:)

Sorry--one more thing then this cheetah with Shut UP!! I ended up doing Kenpo X (because of Wendy..) and it was much funner than I remembered.

Off to work for real now!

G'Morning Ladies:) I missed my workout yesterday (except for ShovelMax) but am okay with it because my eating has been disciplined and the scale proves it. I want this extra insulation gone by my birthday in April. I'm in for LowMax this a.m. as my ankle has flared AGAIN...grrrr...I'll get the ice out after work. My washing machine has been declared dead and my coffee date on Thursday was just so-so. I know how much money he makes, how much his wife got and the conversation just kept coming back to it. I know absolutely that I want to meet someone who has fitness as part of their day to day life. I'm meeting a fellow after work who I have enjoyed intelligent conversation with, he's a small business owner and a soccer player, tall too (6'2"). Keep your fingers crossed that it's not a waste of both of our time.

Cathy, CouchMax is a great Friday night workout!!! Have fun digging into Bust-a$$Max!}(

Barb, hope the temps will allow you to run tomorrow. You've prompted me to go check out the cake recipe Gayle posted...:)

Gayle, good luck tomorrow!!!

Have a great Saturday Cheetahs!!

Take Care
Laurie

Good Morning Folks!:)

I don't know why I'm smiling...I'm tired! I woke up in the middle of the night coughing and couldn't get it to stop for about an hour. I got a decent amount of sleep but it was interrupted like that so it was not as restful. Also, when I finally did lay back down, it was on the couch as I was afraid of waking DH up with my cough. Needless to say, I'm feelin' it this morning. x( I have to leave here in 45 mins to get to my step class at the gym too...UGH! If it wasn't for the free membership I'd be blowin' that off REAL quick and doin' something different a bit later! :p

I think I have a lot of catchin' up to do on personals from y'day! I have coffee in hand so I'd better movin' before it's too late...

Carole...I think I am going to use your suggestion in Phase 2 of the X and add a leg work out on Tuesdays! I will definately do the Leg Blast Premix from B&G but I'm thinkin' I'll mix it up with different endurance leg work outs from Cathe each week...LL, MIS and so on.... }( :+ Thanks for the suggestion!:)

Linda...Good job on the speedwalking. Do you know how fast you walk? I find speedwalking more difficult then running! By that I mean that it's hard for me to speedwalk for some reason. I must have bad form as it can be painful on the shins. x( When I was reading my PT manual y'day the author mentioned speedwalking and said that some speedwalkers can walk as fast as I think 7.5 miles per hour! YIKES! I can barely RUN that fast! LOL

Gayle...Did you plan the 10K race for tomorrow on purpose so that you could eat all of the munchies during the game and not feel as guilty? ;) That is something I would have done! I ran a 5 miler the day after Thanksgiving and it was great because every time I felt bad for something I was eating on Turkey Day I just thought about the race the next day and the guilt was gone in an instant!:p

Judy...When I tried to use my HRM on an outdoor run a few times it didn't work well either. My HRM is a cheapie but it worked well enough indoors. I don't know why it wigged out so bad during my run!? You are doing the smart thing by moving your runs to the TM until the roads are clean. I would not even consider a run on anything but a wet road as I'd slip and fall in an instant! LOL

Susan...Well Joey napped fine y'day. I put him down later then usual. Maybe he just needs more time to get tired these days. :) He's not even 2 yet so he really should NOT be giving up his nap yet anyway. How was your massage?

Shelley...Congrats on the new elliptical girl! Wow, the Cheetahs are getting all kinds of good toys lately! }( So how much longer until you can run again??

Christine...Sorry about your arm. I think you need to bruise DH's face for making you fall! :p :7

Sunny...I posted to you late last night. It's probably the last post from y'day's thread.

Cathy...They are allowed to hold school with no heat!?!? ACK! How awful! How did the kids handle it? So what work out will you do today to make up for lastnight's nap? :)

Barb...Have fun with your KB mish mosh today! BTW, where did you get the idea that I did MIC? You must be mistaking me for a CRAZY person!!! LOL I mentioned last week that I thought about doing it but I quickly changed my mind...I'm a whimp. I admit it!:p :7

Okay, I think I'm covered and I have just enough time to get my arse in gear for class!

TOODLES!:D

Wendy :: whoops, I didn't see you sneak that post in there. Sorry about your rough night of sleep. Hope you manage a good workout despite not getting a good night's rest...The heat isn't out in the entire building, but my wing of the school is notoriously cold, and yesterday my room had no heat whatsoever. Terrible! Yet amazingly enough, some kids still wear the skimpiest of t-shirts and don't complain...I am planning on KPC + B&G to make up for yesterday!

Barb :: *lol* I can quickly lose sight of my priorities in favor of something fun. I can't wait til you guys get your shirts. I have bookmarked the link to the recipe -- it looks delicious and does sound like something I can handle. Thanks!

Laurie :: sorry to hear about the ankle acting up again and the passing of your washing machine...Hey, my b-day is in April, too...I have about 20 to lose - it'd be *great* if I could get rid of all of it by then!...Ugh on date #1...Date #2 sounds promising...I perked up as soon as I heard 6'2" and a soccer player - sounds like my kind of guy. :) eHarmony is sending me some pretty interesting "matches" -dentists and doctors and engineers, oh my!

Time to get moving. Have a great day, ladies!
Cathy :)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I am excited about getting my shirt! Us 2 shorties will be on the weight loss mode together...:)..nice to share that with you...

Barb...but when the top peddle is up 17.5 inches your knee is bent. So the height really is from the bottom peddle (if that makes sense). I should have my DH measure my height on the EXT and then you can add your height difference. I will be joining you with KB today. No, I have not tried Naturade, let me know if you like it.

Wendy..I ran 3 days in my recovery week. We are all different but I was getting back into running with my 1st P90X rotation and coming back from an running injury so I wanted to keep up the running even during the recovery week. I took recovery as giving your muscles a break from the heavy lifting. My only complaint about the X was my legs. They did get smaller but I lost some tone...I think I am still trying to get it back!!

Laurie...I will hope for a better date with the soccer guy! Sorry about your ankle...hoping the ice helps alot.

Linda...not sure reading the directions would even help my DH! I did get the TV hooked up, what a nice picture! What is your pace for a speedwalk?

Gayle...you got me confused with Linda...I have not ever speedwalked but she does. I got a new bread machine yesterday, and cannot wait to use it.

Judy..I find it bizarre your HRM showed a max of 192 and an avg of 179 but you never saw anything over 107?....something might not be right.

Susan...how was your massage. I get one in about 10 days. Got the TV hooked up last night...awesome picture.

Shelly..congrats on the EXT!!! Thanks...:)..The interval run was good but the temps were cold...27, and it took forever for me to get warm after! Good job with GS Legs and MIC.

Laura...wow, I didn't know anyone here was shorter than me. My Dad always said "Good things come in small packages"...:)...I am sure he was talking about us shorties!

Christine...oh my....silly putty hammer again for DH? I hope you are not too sore from the fall yesterday...:(...The TV is hooked up and as I have said the picture is so good. I didn't think you got any channels in HD without the HD receiver? Nope never been on a horse. I grew up in LA and no one I knew had horses and I just never got the opportunity to ride one...yes let me know about the Tri...Great church joke...:)

Elaine....so good to see you back!! I am glad you have another marathon to focus on, and a FUN one I hear...:)

Sunny...no, I don't think you are weird for not liking the adjustable ones. It is a personal preference...:) ..Way to go on starting P90X!!!

Well, I woke up about 4...but I am hoping to get in KPC and some legwork.

Have a great day..:)

cathy and carole- I want in on the wt loss mode! please send some of your fortune my way. I am going to get the book "eatclean diet" and see if I can follow that eating plan. cross your fingers for me. Eating is the part that gets me!!

barb- I wouldnt say I am okay with my wt but its here and I have to be realisitc . I can whine all that I want and it wont make it go away. I have to figure something out that will make my body respond and let go of the extra wt. I have to work harder than most to lose because my body is so stubborn and wont let go unless I get sick and that usually will send me into wt loss mode for months even after I am feeling better. I guess the shock of being sick changes my metabolism. But right now it seems my body has fell into a comfort zone and all it wants to do is hold onto everything I put into my mouth good or bad. Its frustrating and my entire family has problems with losing wt. My brother cuts back on food and runs etc... and he gets like me,he doesnt understand what else he has to do because he too cant lose wt. I guess it in our jeans!! well it literally is in mine from the looks of things! I am being sarcastic there!

anyway, I am still planning on running outside with my friend. It is freezing here but I wont cancel on her so I will see how I do. God I am dreading the cold but I have to get out and take my dog to the vet anyway for his yearly check up.

talk with everyone later!

hi :)

Barb- I tried the Naturade protein powder. it was 'just ok' If you find Phytosoy in vanilla cake mix it tastes great in smoothies.

Carole- I thought the HRM was odd too. I will try it indoors.

Christine- I must have missed you post. How did you fall and are you OK?

Laurie- Is your ankle better yet? Good luck with the coffee date. How annoying the last guy sounded... Shoveling is great exercise !

Elaine- Welcome back. I look forward to chatting with you ! You signed up for another marathon? Amazing!

Well it is time to workout- some lower body a la carte off of B&G and EXT with CC choose Living Press Play.

ETA- Hi Laura :7

****I might be the shortest Cheetah at 5' 2". (My runnig friends are both over 5'7"! It can be a challenge to match their strides)

Judy "Likes2bfit"

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Good morning! I had a long post going and then lost the stupid thing! LOL. With personals and everything. Now I'm short on time. Let's see.

First, my workout this morning. Ended up doing Kickbox, biceps and back from CTX. I really need to dress warmer in my basement! LOL

Wendy-YES...I planned tomorrow's race for several reasons. First, it's fun, local and FUN! They have a beer and pizza tent for the finishers...at 10AM! LOL (I don't partake, but I enjoy watching!). Second, I like to have a tough workout on Sunday so I can enjoy some 'extra' calories. And finally, a race on Sunday forces me to eat right on Saturday. Can you tell weekends are tough for me? LOL

Laurie-DATING! Fun, scary, and interesting all wrapped up in one! Good luck, have fun, enjoy yourself, and BE CAREFUL!

Cathy-I'd like to see if we can get enough people to make another order, if that's possible. How do we go about seeing if more folks want a shirt? THANKS!

Linda-I agree with Wendy. Speed walking is HARDER! LOL. My shins kill me when I speed walk!

BREAD RECIPE! I'm planning to try that one next week for the kids! We are bread-aholics!

Gotta shower and get the kids to swim lessons. Then we're getting my mom out of the house to go shopping with us. She started her second round of Chemo on Tuesday and I don't want her falling into the 'whoa is me' syndrome!

Gayle

OK, just came back from the post office and bank and wanted to let you know I mailed shirts for Carole, Judy, Marcia, and Wendy. They should be there in about 3 days' time - Wendy maybe quicker b/c you're not that far.

Carole :: I'm planning KPC also. Are you following a specific rotation right now?

Laura :: wow! My hat's off to you for getting out there in the cold -I'm sure it's even more blustery than what we're seeing here!! I would *NOT* recommend Clean Eating . I bought it recently and returned it the very next day because it contains the same exact info that you'll find in Oxygen's Clean Eating special issue. IMO, save the money & the get the magazine instead.

Gayle :: great plan to take mom out shopping...how is she doing overall?...let's put out an all-call and see if we have any others who might be interested in a t-shirt.

:::: SECOND CALL for CHEETAH T-SHIRTS ::: Some folks missed the first order of shirts, so we're going to try to drum up some interest for a second order. We need at least 6, but the more we can get, the cheaper it will be. If we get about 15 shirt orders, the cost'll be about $22-23 including shipping. With only 6, the cost would be about $29. Please PM me if you have any interest. We could go with white this time instead of black in case anyone might be up for a second tee. I might go for one myself - you can never have enough wicking shirts, and I really do love how these turned out! If you think there is someone else who's been absent from the thread awhile but might be interested in a shirt, please let me know and I'll send them a PM.

OK, I have to get cracking on a paper for school. Be back later!
Cathy :)

Hey Cathy! THANK YOU for the second call. Now, not to be a pest, but I'm not even sure what the shirts look like! LOL BUT I WANT ONE! LOL. Too funny. You're all enablers.

Mom is doing well. Her first round of chemo was scheduled for 4 weeks, but by the end of the 3rd, she was just toast! They took her off and evaluated and the nodules in her lungs were slightly smaller after just that first round. So, after 3 weeks OFF, she's now on a schedule of 2 on 1 off. We'll see how that goes. Mentally, she's up and down. My mom tends to be a non-stop woman, so this is hard on her. But I'm doing my best to keep her moving around! (sorry for the long answer.)

LOL I'm trying really hard to NOT look at my time results from last year's Super Bowl 10K. lol My goal in 2007 is to not put any un-needed pressure on myself for these races/runs. Just going out to enjoy myself. But sometimes half the fun is to try to beat myself! LOL. I'm no speed demon, either! LOL

OK...heading out the door. BBL

Gayle

Hello ladies,

alot going on here already:)

well today is DA' day..lol. i am doing the classic rotation of P90x!! my workout today will be chest and back. i may throw in a little cardio later on, however i am going into the gym today to train 4 clients.

wendy- girl, yes. your enthusiam is loud and clear. it just pushed me over the edge. if a true catheite such as yourself is loving da' X well then i am all in! i am going to throw in a few runs a week just to keep myself ready for the 5k. also as i am trying to lean out more for the cruise.

carole- thanks. i found a dumbbell set at sportsauthority.com. it's like the select tech but much more cost friendly;-) . i think i am going to go with those.

susan- i googled 17 lbs weights and amazon.com has them.

barb- tell your dh to check in with us, lol! yes, dh says he is going to start with me. we shall see this will be his third time starting and he's only made it 1 week into the program.

cathy- i am anxiously awaiting my package..woohooo!!

sorry no time to post to everyone, HELLO to ALL. gotta go bring it and then get ready for work.

i will be back later...:)

cathy- I dont think I have seen the oxygen magazine with that in it. I just bought oxygen yesterday and it didnt have any of that in it. I will have to look further. But thanks! Is the eating plan good though? I need something that isnt too complicated and doesnt restict too awful bad. thanks!

laura- it's a special edition issue. called clean eating. it is a good plan. the mag gives you 2 weeks of a clean eating plan and recipes. hope that helps.

Good morning! So far this is an unusually busy Saturday with lots of early bird cheetahs :) I was awake at 0500:eek: Pretty unusual for me. Anway I cranked out BM2 double upper body... what a fryer! I've had bkfst and after a cheetah chat I'll be cycling for an hour or so.

Cathy- I mailed a check to you about 10 days ago. Did you get it?
I apologize if you already notified me, I dont check in every day and may have missed it. KPC and B&G? My kind of workout}( Your bootie will be feelin it!

Barb- Good luck with your long cold run tomorrow. I feel for you, I'm a total cold weather weenie :( I still can't believe I actually ran a marathon in subfreezing temps. I couldn't feel my feet for the first 8 miles!

Wendy- That must have been some awful coughing spell! You must feel so wiped out today poor baby! I hope you can make through your step class intact. I SO want to start running today BADLY. I told myself at least 3 full weeks and I'm just about there. Maybe I'll try a little experimental 2 miles today..... feeling pretty good:)

Laurie- This soccer dude sounds pretty promising! I think you definitely should focus on someone who has fitness as a priority.
Lomax is a good choice today!

Carole- A kickboxing day today? Are you doing your usual long run tomorrow and are you having a big SB todo? My goodness I have a lot of questions for you today :p Here's one more. I'd like to do a nice hard routine when I get my new elliptical. Which iTrain (iClimb) do you feel is the most challenging?

Laura- If you're looking into diets have you considered Eat to Live? I have a HUGE appetite and following the principles of ETL really satisfies me. Good luck with your cold run today. That's great that you are being loyal to your friend even under difficult circumstances!

Judy- Okay, my image of you is totally destroyed!!! As a tennis player I pictured you being tall and willowy! 5'2"
It must pose an extra challenge to you with your tall running buddies!

Gayle- Your mom's response to chemo sounds very encouraging! That's great you're insisting she go out shopping. Too often those with cancer have lives totally focused all around their illness. She's so lucky to have you! Best of luck tomorrow with your 10k!!!!!

SunnyD- Its the big X day for you!! I'd like to know how you fare with the pullups!

Time to get moving. It's a beautiful day here in N. Arizona and DH and I are going out motorcycle riding later!
