:::: CHEETAHS :::: runnin' down a dream ~ Sun, 7.1

Cathlete
Hola, cheetahs ~ Another bout of insomnia here…grrr. Tossed and turned and couldn’t get comfortable enough to fall back asleep, so I figured I’d get up, stretch, and sit up for awhile. There is nothing good on TV, so here I am.

The rotation today calls for a “long” run + abs from PUB, but I have to do ME from missing it earlier in the week, so I will just do those abs. Normally, I’d have done the run first and then weights, but after reading Wendy’s recommendation to reverse the order, I’m planning on giving that a try.

Carole :: ah, yes! Now that I am reading that, I do remember her being on Knot’s Landing and not [/I]Dallas.[/I] I used to watch Dynasty regularly, Dallas only occasionally, and KL never. But I wish they would come back on in reruns. An 80s channel would be awesome…thanks for sharing about how you met DH after thinking you’d never get married. It is good to hear stories like that...No, no likey CM. *lol* I will pull it out next time I want to laugh at myself. I really went into hysterics over what I would call the John Travolta moves. Though there were aspects about it that I *did* like, I think the bottom line is just that it was a bit too dance-y and choreographed, which is probably what turns me off to step in general. It's just not me.

Jess :: how cute about the stuffed cheetahs. :) Great score at Kohl’s. I see women occasionally running in skirts around here, but I don’t know if I would find it comfortable. I might be weird, but I like to wear *two* pairs of shorts. Aww, another cute pic. Thanks for sharing.

All right, a little more surfing and then here's hoping I can fall back to sleep.

Have a great Sunday, ladies!
Cathy :)

I hope you're sleeping while I'm posting this Cathy! I've been doing okay so far getting back into the groove of working the night shift.
Yesterday I gave myself a total rest day...... it felt great! Today
will be a 30-40 minute tempo run when I get home. Later today when I wake up I'll get in some upper body work if I have the time.

Cathy- You've had alot on your mind lately! No wonder you can't sleep! I have no doubt that there's a special someone out there for you girl :) You're a fabulous undiscovered treasure for some lucky guy!! My own dating history was pretty sparse and erratic before I met Jerry, my polar bear. He followed me into a jacuzzi at my apt. building because he liked my butt;-) That was 25+ yrs ago:eek:
and my butt is sagging now but we're still going strong. Anyway, ya never know.... it'll happen when you least expect. In the meantime you are obviously enjoying all that life has to offer... you go girl!
Have a good run today.

Duty calls right now but I'll try to check back in later to catch up on other personals.

ShellyC

Hey, Shelly! Yes, I did manage to get back to sleep. Feel fine now. :) My sleep patterns have gotten out of whack in the last two years or so. I think I have become a lighter sleeper than I used to be. If something wakes me up (like in tonight's instance, a loud car burnin' rubber), I sometimes struggle to fall back asleep...Glad to hear you have been readapting to the night shift without any trouble...Oh yes, I absolutely do enjoy life to the fullest - I'm not upset or losing any sleep about meeting someone - it's just something that came up in conversation here, and I admitted that I hope I do not end up alone...but if I am, I will be OK with that, too. I do believe that whatever is meant to be, will be. I laughed like hell about Jerry following you into the jacuzzi b/c he liked your butt. Too funny!

Good Morning!

I had some insomnia this morning too, Cathy, but managed to fall back to sleep before actually giving up and getting out of bed. I'm a bit more tired then I had hoped for right now but I'll be okay.

I am meeting my running friend at our usual spot at 8:30 this morning. Not sure how far we'll go but once again, I'd like to shoot for 5. We'll just have to see how it plays out...:)

Well the fight w/DH was a pretty big one that continued when he got home but he eventually calmed down and apologized and then we were able to talk about things like "humans" for a little while. No one went to bed angry which is what they say you should NEVER do.

Cathy: Thanks re: Ratatouille. I'll definately suggest it to DH then. :) My friend says the same thing...she tends to get so busy that she doesn't even have the time to realize/miss a man in her life! Glad you were able to get back to sleep too!

Sunny: This was your first 10k race?? Great job! Sick and all! You are a trooper!:+ 10k's are hard to find around my way except or a couple of trail races but I need a road race. I guess I will have to resign myself to a drive if I want to run one cause there are none close to me. Okay, so I'm not a loser, but I AM a bit of a dork! LOL :p As much as it is tempting I think I will be passing on the X for right now. I had said I was going to do a Masters rotation and now I also have an Itrain rotation on my "to do" list. Perhaps I will do the "X" again come January as I did this year!}( I may though, sub in some "X" work outs while doing the Masters....just for fun!;) Since the Masters is set up similarly to the X maybe I will start it when you and Jess begin the "X" and we can still do it together.:7

Carole: Oh poor thing with no Kohls!!! LOL I haven't been obsessed with them as of late but for several years I have been a Kohl's addict when it came to shopping for myself! It's a great store! Good prices and nice selection!

Jess: Yeah, it's funny. I sooo was not in racing mood until I ran the 5k with Cathy and Shelly and now I am ready to GO GO GO! }( I continue to bat around training for a half. I really want to be able to say I did it but I don't feel like training for it. LOL One of these days though...

Shelly: LMAO about Jerry and your butt! How cute! :D It is said that my butt is my best feature so that happens to me all of the time!;)

Wendy :: yo, girl! Great idea to do the X in January--I'm with you on that!...Glad you & DH ironed out the issues...I have come to the conclusion that tm'ing (or email) can lead too easily lead to misunderstandings...I also have not been as into Kohl's as I was years ago. I just don't seem to find the kind of bargains I used to. Not as happy with the selection, I guess...enjoy your run w/ your friend!

Cathy :)

Cathy: You got yourself a deal! Now we must bookmark this page just incase one of us tries to squirm out of it!:p :7

Good morning ladies,

today will be an yoga from itrainteens, lol. i am hoping i will enjoy this one:p .

my legs have DOMS from yesterday's run. maybe because i didn't workout all week, plus there were alot of hills.

wendy- so glad you and dh were able to work things out last night and talk it over. i hate when there is tension in the home between me and dh. right now i am really trying to "play nice" however MIL relocated here to nc in nov. she has been living with us, the stay here was supposed to have been short and sweet but here it is july and she is still living with usx( x( . i've talked to dh numerous occasions (it's a sensitive subject since it's his mother) and have even spoken to her. supposedly she was supposed to move as of july 1st. today is the 1st and there is not one box to be seen. the other issuse i have with it is if she needs more time, why can't she just come and ask, instead she acts as though she can live here indefinitely. even knowing that i want her to move out on her own. it's a very frustrating situation for me. as far as racing the same thing happened to me. i fell out of it for awhile, once i did the first one this year i was hooked all over again, lol.

cathy- i agree with your plan. weights first and then run! i may do the X again with you and wendy in Jan. more fun if we do it together!

shelly- how do you work over night without falling asleep? thanks so much for the much needed encouragement!

carole- i definitely feel myself caving with amy's kickboxing extreme.

did i mention the YWCA asked me to start a running group next month?oh gosh. i am petrified....

have a great day to all the cheetahs!

Cathy! I love that song, I'll have Tom Petty stuck in my head all day:) Nice change from Avril's 'Girlfriend' that songs been like a virus in my brain lately:) Sleep issues suck, mine changed in my early 30's and although, they've gotten better, it's never been like before. I would love to sleep in some day but for me 7:30 is like sleeping until noon. Not much going on with me and partnering up either, nice that our lives are full and, for the most part, carefree but I have that little space too that yearns for connection with a fine specimen from the testosterone zone:)

Shelly, nice that you took a day off and actually enjoyed it. Have a great run and enjoy your upper body burn. I did B-Max u/bX2 yesterday and got a lovely pump going this morning:)

Wendy, have a fun run with your friend. I have no clue what Kohl's is, perhaps that's a good thing:)

It's Canada Day here today, we are 140 years old!! Kingston is a very historic city and celebrates big time, we've got friends coming for the day so I'm making Tapas then we'll head out for festivities and fireworks later on. I am so proud to be CANADIAN!!!:7 I got a new hybrid bike this week so will head out for a long ride, then I need to do some serious core work. I shelled out big bucks for 2 ITEC bras this week and, holy moly, do they ever get the girls UP THERE!:) I haven't been this perky since 1980 something!:7 :+

Have a great day Ladies!

Take Care
Laurie

I see Wendy and Cathy are at it again early this morning:p
Things have slowed here a little so I have some time for catchin up chattin:)

Wendy- Sounds like a good healthy resolution to your fight :) DH and I don't argue often but when we do I'm afraid it takes days for us to "come together" so to speak. That's too bad you can't find a 10k close to you. I'm surprised since 10ks are a very popular distance..... except in NJ I guess! Hope you have a great run with your friend this morning!

SunnyD- I am beyond impressed that you toughed it out and completed that 10k yesterday:eek:   . Give yourself a huge pat on the back there girl! Your race in Sept will probably feel like a breeze to you in comparison. I'm contemplating doing a 4th of July 10k BTW.
I'll have to see how I feel. I've been racing alot lately and this is a very difficult course. I did it last year so it would be nice to repeat.... we'll see.

Gayle- Sounds like you have such a fun weekend planned! You must live in a great neighborhood.... color me jealous!

Laurie- Great to hear from ya! Your new job at the gym sounds like it'll be fantastic!

Jess- How cute that your DDs have stuffed cheetahs!!! Unfortunately here at work I can't link to any picturetrail sites, so I have to wait til I get home to look at your new pics... You have such a photogenic family! Scored at Kohl's with some new tankinis?.....
oooolala!

Jackie- Thank you so much for posting the links to the race pics!!!!
Your DD is so cute!!! - BTW, what's the knee brace for? Great job on your 8 miler!!

Laura- That's great that your shin splints have improved... you are obviously doing the right thing. Keep up the great work.

Amy- Nice track run again! I think you'll have no problem taking your runs up to 4x/wk. Just follow Carole's sage advice about increasing your mileage..... you can't go wrong listening to Carole!

Carole- Another go round with KBext? This is one of the few kickboxing workouts I have that truly challenges me..... love it!!!

Time to get busy again! Have a great day everyone:7

ShellyC

Hey guys. SUPER quick here for me. I can't even read your posts yet...I need to get showered.

DS's baseball team won their game yesterday, so we've got game #2 at 4pm today. The drive is about 75 minutes, which isn't bad. The BAD thing is younger DS's car-sickness. YUCK!!!!

This morning I was up early and did BBC Full Body. Gotta shower and get the day going.

Gayle

Good morning Cheetahs!

Thank you ladies for clarifying PX90. I looked it up. WOW is all I have to say! :) Maybe I will give it a try in the winter when running outdoors becomes tougher due to the weather.

Jess - I love Kohl's also. I get a lot of my clothing there, and my shoes too! ha ha! Love shoes!

My DH and I went to Sears yesterday and bought some clothes for our Hawaii honeymoon trip which is coming up in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!! There were great deals that we could not pass up!
I also went to Marshalls and bought 2 new bathing suits. One was hot pink (my FAV color) and the other was a Nike sport swimsuit. It had a great sport fit!
I could not find any cute tankeenies That is what I really like. Oh well - a little late in the season maybe.

Jess - I teach early childhood reading. I love it. It is quite a rewarding job!

Carole - Thank you for the running advice about mileage. I will increase slowly with everything. Thanks!

Ladies - I could not workout today :(
I listened to my body once again, and I just could not get my head off of the pillow this AM. I ran 2 straight days in a row (I actually did 4 days of running this week, and 1 day of biking on top of that). My heart was into doing Cathe's Low Impact Step this AM, but I will have to save it for another day this week. My body is just saying NO today. Do you ladies have any of these days?

Jacki - Good for you and thanks for the racing pictures!

Take care all, Will check in Monday AM with hopefully a good running report!

-Amy :)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...sorry about the insomnia. I had it yesterday and got up at 4:30 and watched Medicine Man with Sean Connery. I watched Dynasty too, but never much of Dallas. A few years go there was a channel that showed Knot's Landing reruns. Something like TV Land. I do agree CM can be a bit dancy. ME abs are tough and I have been reversing the order of my cardio and weights too. I almost always lift before cardio, but with it getting hotter I have been running before my upper body and abs workouts.

Shelly...glad you got in a rest day. Funny about the butt story, my DH was quite the same way! Amy;s KBX is quite challenging but in such a fun way!

Wendy...hope you have a good run with your friend. Glad you worked things out with your DH. I am sure when Kohl's gets here, I will be there ALL the time.

Sunny...your MIL lives with you? I could never have my MIL live here...besides the fact she doesn't like me much!! You deserve an award. Amy's KBX is really tough. Yesterday the endless side kicks about did me in! She has amazing energy. I think you starting a running group is a great idea!

Laurie...I am with you on feeling like sleeping to 7:30 would feel more like noon. I have always been the early riser. LOL about the bras!! http://bestsmileys.com/birthday2/10.gif[/img] to your home of Canada!

Amy...Hawaii in 2 weeks! You lucky cheetah...:)

Jess...the pic of you and Allison is adorable...:)..and thanks for the Kohl's link, I will check it out.

Off for a 9.5 mile trail run. Stayed up late last night for a reception for my sister who got married last May. It was so fun! I only had 2 Corona's ( thinking of you Cathy & Wendy) and one glass of champagne.

Have a great day...:)

OK, finished ME, had a protein smoothie (I was hungry), and then went for a 5K…Didn’t have the long run in me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless…The weather is GORGEOUS today – sunny, mild temps, and a light breeze.

Sunny :: have fun with the iTrainteens :)…that’s a difficult position for you to be in with your MIL. Is she looking at places?…Sounds good for the X rotation in January!…that’s fantastic about the running group!

Laurie :: Happy Canada Day! Sounds like a great day planned…Agree with you about 7:30 feeling like noon. Same here – things started to change about the time I hit 30 or so…*lol* about a fine specimen from the testosterone zone…I hear that!…I completely lost it on the bra comment…you’re too funny!

Gayle :: congrats to DS & good luck in today’s game!

Amy :: absolutely, I have those days when I just have to listen to my body and give it the rest it needs.

Carole :: hmm, I’ll have to check out TV Land…I can’t imagine that your MIL wouldn’t like you!! What’s not to like??…Glad you had a good time at the reception…Ahhh, Corona…I have not indulged in over a week!

All right, time to shower, pick up my skis from the shop, and do some errands. I want to start a massive cleaning project this summer (I really need to go through clothes and get rid of junk) and thought I might kick it off today, but I think I’ll have to save that for a day when the heat & humidity are unbearable. It’s too nice to stay indoors!

Have a great Sunday. I’ll BBL!
Cathy :)

Hey Cheetahs!

My run was great. Perfect weather for it! My friend and I took it to 5 miles and then I pushed on alone and made it to 6! It was a slow go but I did it. 1 hr 11 mins. It's also the first time I've run for more than 1 hour at a time. I'm happy!:) I must admit though, that my hips were killin' me during that last mile. They are fine now though. Any insight as to what the problem could have been??
Upon completion of the 5 miles today, my friend and I agreed to sign up for the 5 mile race that is coming up in a couple of weeks so I'm excited about that now too.

Sunny: Wow, I would be sooo beyond aggrivated if I were in your situation right now. I am funny about having "my space" and having people in it who "don't belong". I don't mind the occassional overnight or w/e guest but I would be flipping if I had to have someone live with me for an extended period of time. I would, ofcourse, open up my home to a friend or family member in need, I just may not be too happy about it and would want them out asap! :p :7 I guess your DH won't say anything to his mom about this? I hope she finds her own place soon. She really needs to understand that she has over-stayed her welcome and needs to move on. ((((HUGS))) to you!

Amy: Ofcourse we all have "those" days! Well, except for maybe Shelly! }( Don't worry about it! You got plenty of cardio in this week. You should feel great about what you did. No worries, my friend. The "X" is a great winter time program to do. I did it starting in January and it was a great time for it IMO. Cathy and I are planning on doing another rotation this January so if you want to do it with us you are more then welcome!:)

Okay, time to give my baby cheetah a bath :+

BBL!:)

I love everything about my new bike except the seat!! Holy saddle sore Batman!!!! YIKES!!x( I got in a little over 37K but again with the wind in my face both ways..what is up with that!?! I finished with B-Max2 abs and stretch now I've got to get cooking for my company.

Shelly, yeah, I'm pretty excited to say the least. I'm selfish enough to set my schedule so I can get my workouts in, now I can tinker with it a little knowing that I can workout as soon as I'm done.

Gayle, sounds like you're a busy gal! Sorry about your breakup, even when you both agree it's for the best it's still a loss. Hope your son is okay driving:)

Amy, good for you to listen to your body lest it rebel against you! Sometimes the best workout is NO workout:)

Carole, have a good run. Sounds like you had a very nice time last night. I'm a big Corona fan too, pretty sure I'll be enjoying some today.

Cathy, you are so right! At this time of year it's best to get out there and enjoy the warm breezy days. We wait all winter for it:) Enjoy!

Take Care
Laurie

no workout yet ladies, decided to make my family a nice breakfast since i had been running out early on sunday's to train.

carole- yes she is living with us. it was supposed to be just a month or two so she could find her own place. it's now been 9 months. have a fun run today! we used to have a good relationship, i know that this situation will definitely change some of that. it's hard when you feel someone is taking advantage of your kindness. i am hoping we can still come out of this liking each other.

wendy- yea, i know what you mean, i am definitely a person who likes/needs her own space. if it were a needy situation it would be different. it is far from that. she is in good health and has a full time job. i just believe as time went on she got more and more comfortable and since she's living here for free it's easy to see how/why she got comfortable. great job on your 6 mile run!! i know the first time i started running outside it hurt my hips somewhat. now that i've been doing it every week they don't bother me anymore.

cathy- as far as i know she hasn't been looking (which bugs me all the more). the last conversation i had with her (about two weeks ago) she had a friend she worked with (she works about an hr away from where we live) offer an extra room to her until she finds her own place.

alright i am done ranting, not sure why it's bothered me even more today. maybe because i expected her to be out as of today.:(

Wendy :: great job on pushing yourself to a new distance! It truly was a perfect day for a run.

Laurie :: wow, sounds like a helluva ride! I love biking, but I only really do it when I am vacationing in Germany. Where I live it is just not all that pedestrian-friendly, and it sort of takes the joy out of it. Actually, I don’t even own a bike anymore. It’s funny, I was just daydreaming about Amsterdam the other day and thought w/ a chuckle about the bike tour I went on. Now THAT’S some crazy-intense biking! *lol*

Sunny :: I don’t blame you one bit for being resentful about MIL’s overextending her welcome ~ I would be irritated as well. Can you maybe offer to apartment or househunt with her to give her a bit of a gentle nudge? Then again, this is where I would expect my DH to step up to the plate.

OK, I am seriously being sucked into a Lifetime movie I have playing in the background. Talk about needing a life! *lol*

Have a great night, cheetah babes!
Cathy :)

Edited to fix my rampant typos

Good almost evening, Cheetahs! Busy day here w/ church, kids, and workouts. ;-) I did CST for the LAST time today! (at least this round!) Plus ARX. I upped the weights/ reps & pushed myself hard. I even did those slow twitch pushups ALL the way to my nose and did 6 Plyo pushups. I'll be feelin' it good tomorrow! }(

It looks like you're all having a good Sunday! And Happy Canada Day to Laurie & my other Canadian friends! (my SIL lives in Canada as she married a Canadian!)

Evening Cheetahs!! I just can't seem to catch up. Hopefully this week, I'll be back to my normal routine.

The wedding was beautiful yesterday. The groom sang to the bride as she walked down the aisle. It was really moving. The bride is my cousin. After ther reception, DBF and I went to see Live Free or Die Hard. We really enjoyed the movie. I was totally exhausted by the time we got home last night.

Laura - Good job on the run! Ouch on the shin splints! Hope they're better.

Amy - Great job with the runs! I'm running 4-5 days a week right now.

Cathy - Now you went and made my head really big. Thanks re: pics. I'm hoping they have another one of me from the race. I know I saw the lady snap the darn thing. Sorry for the insomnia.

Sunny - Congratulations on finishing your race! I think you did a great job and you weren't feeling well.

Jess - Allison sounds like she had a fun day yesterday. I'll see what other pics I can dig up. I haven't taken a whole lot this year.

Wendy - Sorry for the fight with DH. Glad you worked things out.

Shelly - Glad you got a good rest day in. My knee aches a little when I do too much high impact especially step. The knee brace seems to help with that. So, I just got in the habit of wearing it when I work out.

Carole - How was the trail run today?

Laurie - Nice bike ride. How's the seat feeling?

Rest day for me. What's everyone's plans for the 4th? I just want to take it easy and relax.

Jackie

Good evening Cheetahs!

Well I am so glad I took a rest day from working out because I went to my 88 year old grandmother's house to clean it out!!!!!!

She never threw away ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

I cleaned for about 4 hours. I threw away about 30 trash bags (ready for the big dumpster tomorrow).

Lots of junk, but also some special valuables from my grandfather who passed a long time ago. That was special.

BUT............what I thought would be a rest day was NOT! There is still so much to be done at that house. She clearly lived through The Depression!

I am doing laundry now and getting ready for the work week. I will be up at 5:30AM for a good run! Hope my body will be ready!!!

Have a great week, will check in tomorrow AM I hope! :)
