*** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1st!!!

Well, as usual it's my Friday rest day! I woke up at 6:15 wide awake though so I'm feeling good other than some sinus drainage. I got a little more sleep y'day too! I think I'll be ready to hit the 20 miler tomorrow!! Unfortunately my friend Erin's dh has to be at work early, so we have to start at 4:15AM!! Oh well, that's only 45 min earlier than usual & at least it will be over & done with!

I posted a little last night, but just did a 3 mile walk w/ Allison & MM y'day. Feeling a little DOMS in my shoulders & back from upping the weights. YEAH!

Allison has her 3 yr/ preschool checkup today- at least there won't be any shots! ;-) She has her first day of preschool on Tues & she is soooo excited.

It'll be a busy weekend so I don't know if I'll be able to check in much. After I run my 20 in the morning we're heading to my hometown & picking up our new van!!! My Dad is friends w/ a dealer there who is getting us a good deal & I think he's more excited about the new van than we are! LOL And then we'll do some visiting & go see my Grandma at the hospital (who has cancer), my Aunt Meg in the nursing home (who broke her pelvis), and go to my Mom's for a while, etc. Then Sunday is my Dad's side of the family reunion so I'll see some relatives I haven't seen in ages. And Monday we can just relax!

Have a great day & good luck to us running long this weekend!!!

Hugs,

Oops- Cathy I see we both started the thread at the same time!! I swear it wasn't there when I started!

WOW Jess, you have a busy day/weekend going don't you? :) Have fun with your new van - YIPPEE.....

I've been MIA for a little while, I needed a little break from running and now I'm back ready to roll again. The weather is perfect today and I'm hoping to go for at least 3 this afternoon. But, since I took a break I'm not going to set myself up to be disappointed.

Take care everyone!
I'll be back later to catch up on all that I've missed.

Marcia.;-)

Hey Marcia!! Good to see you again!! I was thinking of you y'day when I used one of my TS spices!!

I'm sure you'll get back into the routine quickly, sometimes a good rest is just what your body needs! (I plan on taking a little time off after my marathon!)

Yep, busy weekend. At least it's a *holiday* weekend!! And I'm excited about the new van, we've had this one for 5 1/2 yrs so it will be nice to have something new!!

Hugs,

RE: *** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1s...

Happy Friday, cheetahs!

Jess :: didn't see yours, either...we literally posted at the same exact time...lol. Oh well, no big deal. :) I hope the migraine after-effects aren’t still lingering…sometimes they can hang on for days, as I’m sure you know all too well. Really, try the Gatorade sometime and see if that doesn’t help a little. Hope you’re feeling fit for tomorrow’s 20 miler!

Laurie :: though I don’t have kids (and can’t relate to the growing-up-in-a-flash feelings), I do know what you mean about that back-to-school feeling…There is something nostalgic about it that I still feel as a teacher…Is Elizabeth your oldest? Thanks for the congrats. I’m glad you had such a great run yesterday.

Wendy :: My official results were 30:47 (a 9:56 mile)… Slow-going, but I’m OK with it. I know I’ll gain speed as I get fitter and lose a few more lbs…I dunno, but I seem to recall your reported times were faster than that, so I won’t be surprised if you smoke ‘em on Saturday! :)

Carole :: Thanks…yeah, I’m not beating myself up over times…I’m just happy I’m running and entering races again. When I first started doing 5Ks, I always had this fear that I was going to be DEAD LAST. lol But then I learned to put things into perspective: I think it was George Sheehan who said that you’re beating all of the people who couldn’t or wouldn’t even enter the race in the first place.

Katie :: wow, I can’t believe the situation with your back!? Yeowch! How did it happen? Rest up…Positive thoughts comin’ your way for a quick recovery on both counts.

Christine :: thanks! Would you believe that when my friend & I reported to the beer table, the keg was EMPTY?? I said obviously this means next time we have to run FASTER! lol So we just went over the tiki bar and ordered ourselves Coronas. The STUPID thing was, though, that we didn’t stretch. So yesterday, I had tightness in my Achilles and on the outside of my left knee. I think that’s ITB, but I’m not really sure. Appropriately enough, StretchMax arrived in yesterday’s mail.

Well, I don't really know what's on tap for today. It's another gray and dreary day here in South Jersey, and I'm feelin' kinda lazy. (I haven't done much all week, actually.) And I ate way too much yesterday. So I gotta get back in the zone TODAY!

Have a great Friday, everyone!
cathy :)

RE: *** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1s...

Good morning cheetahs

Marcia...nice to see you again. We all need breaks sometime and can benefit from them...

Cathy...I think your time was great!!! My sister says that about being last too! I will share Sheehan's thinking with her...:)...I got into the chip mode yesterday...too many!!! Seems to happens close to TTOM. Sorry about the grey day...we have had some nice weather here, not terribly hot like it was, I'll try and send some your way...:)

Good Luck tomorrow Wendy...!!!

Christine....you know, I have some of those dust collectors myself!! Sounds like you enjoyed Fiddler on the Roof with DD! So your Dad is mving right into Ernestos area!...wow...when will you be going there?

Laurie...one more month!! I bet you are excited...:)...I think you will do very well...I really like S&H, I probably do the legs more than the upper body though.

I'll be doing MM shoulders, bi's and tris and a 5 mile run.

Have a great friday...:)

RE: *** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1s...

Good morning all! How are all the lovely fit cheetahs today? I'm finishing up a work stretch....yeah! Today will be some PlyoX and an hour on the elliptical. Tomorrow I may enter a local 10k, havent quite decided yet, I'll see how I feel later in the day.

Jess- OMG, you sure are dedicated going out at 0415!! Good luck on your 20 miler, it sure sounds like you're ready for it. I think I remember hearing you are getting a Honda van. I have a CRV and I just
love it. I think you made a great choice. A new vehicle is always so exciting!

Cathy- Great job on your 5k last night! You have a wonderful attitude and I'm sure your running will continue to improve.

Carole- I did MM yesterday, it had been a while! What a great workout this is.... have a good time with your 5 miles.

Marcia- Nice to hear from you! Take it easy and I'm sure you'll be back in shape in no time. How's your new business going?

Wendy- Now don't let a little rain intimidate you! You are a CHEETAH!!!! Go get em!!!!

I'll check back later.

RE: *** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1s...

Happy Friday Cheetahs!

Jess – ENJOY your 20 mile run!! You’re doing so well!! You do have to check in briefly to let us know how it went!

Marcia – GREAT to see you! How’s the business going? Glad to hear you’re back again! We certainly miss you when you’re not here!

Cathy – Doesn’t surprise me that the keg was empty! A lot of runners and other “weekend” athletes that I know subscribe to the “work hard, play hard” school. The real athletes don’t of course, but… I love George Sheehan’s attitude – it’s sooo true! So, now you have what I suffered from – don’t run for a few days, and ice both each time you exercise and you should be fine!

Carole – Oh yeah, RIGHT in the middle of Ernesto! My sister and I were joking that my mom (who passed away in January) is up there trying to prevent dad from moving to the beach house by himself. First the construction is delayed, then the moving van breaks down in Virginia, my trip is delayed, and now there’s a hurricane!! I can picture mom saying, “JOE! JOE!! Don’t you DARE move there without me!”

Wendy – GOOD LUCK!!

Shelly – as usual, we are posting at the same time! Oh, if you do enter the 10k, have fun!!! I enjoy PlyoX- Have fun with it!

Well, as I have to wait for the AT&T dude to come and fix my phone lines – it’s horrible – static and no one can get through! And they are so sweet as to make my appointment SOMETIME between 8 AM and 7 PM, I’m stuck at home. No run. BUT I do have HSTA and I plan to do that, followed by (if I have the energy!) a section of CoreMax. Maybe some iCycle to get the lactic acid out of my legs after all of those leg presses. I am very afraid! :p

RE: *** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1s...

RE: *** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1s...

Good Morning Cheetahs!

No time for personals at this moment but hopefully a bit later on!:)

I didn't crawl out of bed until 9:15! I almost died when I looked at the clock! LOL I am just finishing up my first cup of coffee and then I have to get movin' w/the little guy. :+

I didn't work out at all yesterday and I'm disappointed in myself. As the day wore on all of my aches and pains disappated. I kept on planning to work out but before you know it, it was after 9 pm!

I intend to work out today. I missed legs yesterday and I gather I should NOT do them today in light of the race?...OMG IT'S TOMORROW! AAAAAAAHHHHH! :7 :7 :7 ...My original plan has upper body and abs on tap.

Okay, well I gotta hit the ground running (no pun intended!LOL)...hopefully I'll be able to post later...I'm going out w/my mom for a bit this afternoon though so I'm not sure how much time I'll have.

Have a great day if I don't make it back! I'll be sure to post as I am throwing up in the a.m. before I leave!:p

Toodles!

RE: *** Cheetahs (runners, come & join us!) *** Sept 1s...

Mind if I join you guys? :)

Hi, I'm Jennifer, and I'm addicted to running... Ah, it feels good to get that out :).

I'm not very fast, and for anything longer than 5 miles, I do run/walk to conserve energy, but I do love running and see myself doing this for the rest of my life, so I figure I have plenty of time to build up my stamina!

Just a bit of background on me, I got started about a year and a half ago. I had just completed my first half-marathon with Team in Training (TnT), on their walk team. I was on a high and thought, "Hey, I've walked 13 miles, surely I'm on good enough shape to run!" So, naively I re-upped with TnT and joined the run team. Well holy smokes! I got my butt kicked :). But then I also started to find my groove and in October of last year, I RAN my first half-marathon!!

I kept running with the same "buddy run" group every Thursday, even during my off-season, and this summer I joined the run team again. I'm even a "TnT mentor" again--I'm that addicted :). I'm considering coming back for the winter season too, we'll see.

Anyway, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I'd ever accomplish my dream of becoming a runner, and now here I am! Hard work really does pay off!

Hi Cheetahs,

Wow Jess, sounds like you have a busy weekend planned. Are you running 20 miles tomorrow? Wow. I didn't realize you were running such long distances. That's great! (I really have been mia :))

Hi Marcia, I've been mia too. Hope you enjoy your run today whether it's 3 miles or not. :)

Hi Carole, although I haven't been on much, I have continued to pray for you and your family. How's the new elliptical? (Although it's probably not considered "new" anymore. :)

Mattea, are you all moved in now? Any great new running trails?

Sounds like you had a fun race Cathy. When does school start back for you? We've already started back here and lost two days to Ernesto. It was a good practice, and it was great for dd since now she only missed 4 1/2 days of school i/o 7. Too bad about the beer though, but it sounds like it worked out okay. ;)

Wendy, did you have your race yet? If not, good luck!

Hi Elaine, Barb, Barbara, Shelly (I bet you're not missing Florida right now :)),Laura, Laurie, Katie (I hope your back is better soon!), Judy, Thomasina, Gayle, Karin, Karen, Christine, and everyone else!

I'm doing a modified P90X Lean rotation (I've added more cardio, and I'm probably going to sub a GS for the Monday workout) so today was P90X Legs & Back, Abs, and I'm heading out for a 30 minute bike ride. I bought a new bike, and I'm having a great time with it. Like Marcia, I've taken a break from running. At first it was just due to weather issues, but right now I'm really enjoying my bike.

I was offered the job, but I turned it down because the pay was too low. I knew it would be a paycut, but they offered me $5k more than what they paid me when I worked there FIVE years ago. Which, by the way, was half of what I made at my last job. I figure I've been practicing and actively litigating for 9 years, and I'm worth more than a measly $8k over a brand new atty fresh out of law school. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Hopefully something will turn up soon, and if not, then I'll do something else to increasee my cashflow so I can re-open my own practice by next summer. Now if I could just stop buying fitness related items I might have that cash even sooner! :D

Happy Friday everyone!!

Welcomc Adri and Jennifer!

HI Cheetahs :)

Welcome to our new posters. This is a great thread to keep inspired and learn about others experiences with running and life.

Adri- You aare the age of my (youngest) son. I must say you don't sleep very late for a young teenager. :)

Today ws a 5 mile run andit was my hilliest run ever. At one point I kept thinking just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Fortunately the last 0.3mile was flat to slightly down hill so I ended up feeling well enough to pick up the pace.

Jes- good luck on your long run this weekend! Be srue to check in when you have time!

Barb- How are the party prepatations going?

Carole- What is the latest wtih your nehphew and your elliptical WO's?

Nice to "see" you again Marcia and Pamela

Wendy- one more day!!! You go girl!

Hi Shelly, Christine, Mattes, Thomisina, Elaine, Katie

Well it is time to do drive Max or should I say Taxi Max?!

HI everyone!

not enough time today...

But Judy: thanks for asking about the party. We're on track, but little problem with some landscaping we had done: which looks great, well worth it, but the yard smells like manure because of the mulch. It's supposed to stop smelling in 72 hours. I can only laugh about this, because it's really pretty funny:

Great party, but uh, what's that smell. One week and counting for 4 parties at the house...

I'm keeping up with my running and exercising, which is my rope to sanity.

Hi to all the Çheetahs, old and new! Have a great day and weekend!

-Barb

Judy- I don't sleep in late at all. The latest is like 8. Today was 6:30. I'm so dedicated to fitness, (bodybuilding;-)) health, and nutrition that it affects everything else I do, but in such a positive way:) I love wakin up to Cathe and workin out w/ her, or getting up at sunrise and going for a jog around the boulvard (we have this special path around a small ocean that is 4.5 miles long. I love it!!! I bikeride, jog, and even walk to the gym on it!! Its great!! I'm glad I joined this check in!!

Hey Barb!! Good to hear from you again!

Welcome to the new members! The more the merrier!

Ah, did you read DrillMax's description?! I'm going to die...

*trots off to see if she dies with HSTA*

Okay, HSTA was both harder and easier than I thought. The leg presses did not kill me, but there is never a moment to rest and breath! But I really enjoyed the mix, and it's one of the few circuit workouts that I feel really works the legs. I added CoreMax # 3 to it, and I feel well worked out. The one was definitely worth the investment. IF the phone guy ever actually gets here, I might doan iCycle as well.
