Good morning, cheetahs, and happy

fridaysmiley.gif

Guess no other early birds are up n' at it to get this thing started.

Linda :: do you think you might be training too hard? I have been feeling good lately, but I definitely have had a few moments along the way like you described, when I thought I might've gotten in over my head. Completing 18 gave me a big boost. I also think the u/b circuits approach agrees with me, both for training and weight loss. Maybe change things up or take a week off from the weights?

Gloria :: we might be a little "form crazy" in my school. :) I totally hear you on being tired. Same here. Nature of the September beast. :) Sounds like a job well done. There are so many small joys in our day, aren't there?...I am making good progress with my challenge. I think I have won him over.

I have a professional development day today (already!), so I will be in the building but out of the classroom. I'm so happy I can wear FLATS and jeans today. My feet have been taking a punishing. I wonder if I am doomed to wearing unattractive shoes for the rest of my career or what. *lol*

Have a great day!

Good Morning Cathy and all who follow. :)

I don't have time for personals this morning. I never had the chance to post 'em last night and woke up later then usual this morning so it's already time to start packing lunches, etc. I'll get back here later for 'em though. PROMISE! :)

Today's work out will be a short run (my poor legs-they still hurt!) and then home for CTX Shoulders and Abs. I only ended up doing Chest and Biceps y'day to save time.

Have a super friday everyone and I'll be back later....:)

Good morning!

Gloria - Bless your heart, I don't mean to laugh, but I was laughing when I read your post about trying to get your jammies on and hurting from your workout ;) Good job on your workout!!! But I sure hope you feel better! :)

Cathy - Sometimes I do feel like I am training too hard. Is your upper body circuit using your EXT for the cardio? Which upper body are you using? Is the WP the only LB you are using til the marathon is over with? Sorry for all the questions. Yay! I am glad you get to wear flats and jeans today! I am actually wearing jeans to work today, too! Ahhhh.....it feels good! Love Friday :)

Wendy - Hope you have a good day! Enjoy your run and CTX wts! This week has been all short runs for me!!! ('cept Sunday).

Hey to everyone! Happy Friday! :)

Linda

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I think the dog stories can be funny, and I really never thought the Great Dane would bite (he didn't). That Doberman in Germany would have scared the YKW out of me! We had a Rottweiler in our neighborhood that terrorized many. He is gone now. But a PG&E guy once told me, "the big dogs might chase you but those little dogs, they will bite you". I have to say with my experience that is true. Thanks re: my Mom...:)..Good job with the run, Windsor and abs last night. Enjoy those flats and Jeans!! LOL about the unattractive shoes.

Wendy..enjoy your run and CTX workout.

Linda...sorry about your network being down yesterday morning...no fun! That particular Great Dane was a bit scary, glad they moved. Thank you re: my black lab, Beau. We got him in July and he really is a fun puppy. I am hoping to be able run with him when he gets older...:)

Karen..don't worry for a minute about personals. You have A LOT on your plate right now. Glad you can get in some runs and workouts. Also glad to hear the stones are passing for your Mom. I think that would be great if you did another 5K. Thanks re: my Mom. It is nice to see her feeling better.

Gloria...the puppies do get excited when they get fed, I bet Pip has a cute little dance....:)...thanks re: my Mom.

When I saw my Mom yesterday, I got some info from her so I could email her contacts/friends that don't know what happened. She really enjoys emails and I know she will miss it for awhile. I might print out some of hers to share with her.

Today is PUB C&B, and a 4.5 mile interval run.

Have a great day..:)

Good morning. Today was an easy 4 mile run and now off to eat before we begin the day.

Carole- I think that is such a good idea about the emails. It will keep her mind off of things while she is in there, plus being able to enjoy hearing what friends and family have to say. It is really good that your mom is up with email and the computer. My parents don't own a computer,or know how to use one. I don't think dh's parents do either. For that your mom is one smart cookie as well as tough.

Wendy-Legs are still hurtin. Huh. It sounds like an upper body day to me.

Cathy- How did it go today in the flats? I bet it is nice now and then to be able to dress down and slip those dress shoes off.

Linda-Good morning. What do you have going on today with your workouts? Hw many more long runs do you have.

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Jackie – The ride this weekend is about 43 miles with a 3100 altitude gain. DD’s BF and I will be riding together tomorrow. He hasn’t been training, but he does have the advantage of being a 16 year old boy!

Carole – Yeah, I’d be more inclined to spray the owner of the Dane. What an idiot! Yeah, I would liken to Death Ride to a 50K run. I figure my 55 miler next weekend is more like a hilly half marathon. Glad you got to enjoy your day a little more yesterday before work! How’s Beau doing? And new photos? :p I love that you’re going to print out some emails for your mom. How sweet.

Linda – Oh yeah, the finger pointing and accusations are disgusting! The ride will be pretty. The hills are long, but they are not really steep, which is nice. That’s like my ride on Saturday. I’m looking forward to that one. That century – yeah, it sounds painful. But I figured it would be a good way to celebrate my 45th birthday. :p

Karen – you are a busy lady!!! I can imagine with school in, you would have a tough time finding spare time! I think your 5K is a great idea. I appreciate the sweet words on my riding. As I’m not a natural runner, I feel the same way about hearing about all the runs here. It really is very similar. I can cycle a lot longer than I can run.

Cathy – LOVE the Friday Cheetah animation!! Isn’t that a great view of Chi-town? I love that photo. I’ve run that trail, but not out that far. I do love Chicago – it’s a very pretty town, and the folks are nice. I have to lol at the “Death Ride”, too. All of the rides that have big climbs in them are named something like that, except the hardest mountain bike ride of all – the Leadville 100 – 100 miles across 11,000 and 12,000 foot mountain passes on dirt. Lance Armstrong rode that one this year. Ouch! Enjoy the flats and jeans day! Oh there are great heels that are comfy, unfortunately they are pricey, too.

Gloria – Oh, I know who I’m voting for, but I can understand the confusion. Have fun with the mock election. I know a lot of people who over inflate their bike tires and pop them. I’m so leery of that! TGIF eh?

Wendy – Enjoy your Friday and your run!!!

I’m going to be lazy again today and take a rest day – maybe do some core work, or not, as I see fit! I’m really beaten up from my weeks of very hard training, so I think this is a good thing. As my bike ride is next week, I’m going to schedule an easier week next week. I’ve also been invited by a group of female cyclists to join them on the “Trifecta” – the three biggest mountains in the Bay Area. I may just taken them up on it – the rides will be over 3 weekends in October – fortunately skipping the weekend of Cathy’s Marathon! :D We have dinner tonight with friends, but we’re going to an Italian restaurant so I’m going to think of it as “Carb loading” before my long ride. :p Happy Friday All!!!

Carole - It would be wonderful if you could run with Beau! I would love to run with Madison! But where we have the invisible fence, we can't take her out, except in the car (without the collar), so that she won't get confused and try to get past the line at other times :( That will be good to be able to print off the e-mails so your mom can read them. I'll bet she does miss being able to keep in touch with them. My step mom will not have any thing to do with a computer!! We have offered to teach her, to buy her one.....she says "no way, no how!! ". Oh well.

Karen - Good job on the run! This week on the long runs, we are scaling back to 10 or 12. Then I "think" we will only have 2 more long ones. Every other week we are cutting back to 10 or so. Then the marathon is Nov.2. Today is my day off. How is your mom? Hope she is doing better!

Linda

Christine - I definitely think you deserve the day off! As well as an "easier" week next week before your ride! I understand what you mean about the ride and your 45th! That is why I am doing my marathon. I have always wanted to run a marathon before I turn 50 (in March). I definitely am not a "natural" runner, either (referring to your personal to Karen). But you do really well in your running! You did good in your 1/2 's (I think I remember that anyway )

Good morning Cheetahs!

Carole - Laughing at you wanted to pepper spray the owner of the Great Dane. :D Hey, that's a thought. Glad Sadie and Beau get along well. How much bigger will he get? Glad your running is feeling good for you too. Good job adding extra to your workout! Bet the emails will help make your mom's stay a little easier. Is she walking any at all? Enjoy PUB and your run!

Linda - Glad you were able to get a good run in outside with no humidity. How's your dd doing these days? Enjoy your rest day.

Karen - It's always good just to see you pop in and say hi. Glad your mom is passing her stones. Hope all this pain will be over for her soon. The 5K will be fun for you. How did Mom's hair look?

Cathy - That Doberman would be giving me nightmares now! My hamstrings are behaving very well. I think being a little too aggressive with Barry's Boot Camp runs when I first got them did a number on them. I was trying to keep up with their speeds on those hills and that was about 2 years ago. I didn't give them time to heal up before attempting all the races last year. Cutting back on the running and gradually easing the mileage up seems to be working better. I don't feel them first thing when I run now. Enjoy your flats and jeans today.

Gloria - Good way to get a break in class time for you. Sitting still too long makes me sleepy. IA that kids are very observant especially when you think they're not paying attention. I love my GK but happy to know they have a home to go to whenever I'm ready to send them home. :D

Wendy - What are you doing for those legs? Hope the run works the kinks out today. Enjoy your shoulder and ab workout!

Christine - Now, don't you get out there and show that 16 yo up tomorrow. :p Enjoy your ride! Thanks for comparing the rides to runs. Now I can picture in my mind just how tough they are. Those are tough. Enjoy your rest day! The Trifecta sounds like fun. Sounds like a Road Race Series.

Today's workout was Boot Camp. I didn't push myself too hard on this one but still got a good workout.

TGIF!! Enjoy your day!

Morning Ladies,

Today, I decided to do just abs and yoga. I even slept in (5:30A). ha ha

Gloria ~ Sounds like some good DOMS! What's your plan today?

Cathy ~ I think there are a lot of cute non-high heeled shoes out there. I couldn't imagine standing in heels all day teaching. Oh yeah, on the time difference. I've heard some of the TNT gals saying that run/walk really helps them at the end (with energy levels) when it's getting tough. IA teachers do have a lot of paper work!

Karen ~ That's how I was the first two weeks school started. It's a little hectic getting into a new schedule. I have a choppy day. The kindergarten bus comes at 11A and then the other kids get home at 2:40P. The morning is quick! Good luck getting into the swing of things. That's nice you do your mom's hair. Go for the 5K! :)

Linda ~ Count me in too...I want to run a race with you Cheetahs some day too! :)

Jackie ~ Ever hook up with the neighbor for a run? Are you training for a race? I see you said you wanted to increase your running days. Nice workout y-day! ETA: How can you not get a good workout from BC (no matter the effort level)!??!! Good job

Carole ~ Glad to hear things are progressing positively for your mom. That's sweet of you to print out her email. :) Did you purchase a weighted vest for STS? I've been thinking about it. Which one do you have if you already have one?

Judy ~ I got tear eyed y-day too watching some of the 9-11 coverage. Yum, choc. chip cookies. Bet your kids will enjoy opening that package!

Christine ~ yep, need driver's 101. ha ha And to think I just got to renew my license by mail on account of good driving! You know I'll admit I use that camera ONLY when backing out of my garage. I could see the landscaping, so figured I was in the clear. Luckily, it was only the bottom panel that caught the top of my car. It was really minor in hindsight. Oh good, glad you're still coming to Chicago. That Trifecta sounds :eek:, but know you'll do great!!! :)

Wendy ~ I hear you on the DH part and the kids. Although, mine is good about taking the kids to soccer practice so I can stay back and help the others with homework and clean up dinner. Come to think of it, maybe I should be taking the kids to soccer practice. LOL WTG on the 13 mile run!! You're doing great! :)

Hi Posh, Shelly, Sunny, Lorie, Wendi!

Better get to it...now I'm thinking of a little 2 mile run before abs and yoga.;)

Jackie - Good job on the bootcamp! Did you do the orginal BC or the one in 4DS? Not sure if you meant my DD that is pregnant with the health problems or the my oldest going thru the divorce ....so I will tell you 'bout both! ;) The youngest one (pregnant one) is doing okay. They are keeping close watch on her. She has her regular OB/GYN, then her high risk one that monitors her heart, etc. and then her Endocrinologist. The high risk doc put her back on blood pressure med yesterday. But the good news is...she is doing fine and seems to be doing well :) My oldest DD is doing great :) Thanks for asking! Sorry 'bout the long report

Dallas - That would be sooo nice if we could run together! How long in between marathons do you think it would be okay for a first time marathoner to run another one? (an older 1st timer, like me ;) ) I forget, but didnt' you say you have ran a marathon before? Enjoy your run, yoga and abs!

Hi there Cheetahs!

This morning I went to the iTrain website and got 5 new workouts to keep me energized on non running cardio days ( cycles and iclimbs )

I did iclimb 13 40 minutes and then yoga class again! I was the only participant, and it was another great class. Every class is different and has a different emphasis. This morning we opened up our heart center and Wednesday was a hip opening day. We continued with hip opening today also as a secondary benefit. My intercostal muscles are sore from AOS Newport yesterday and of course I have some slight lower body DOMS too, but it is all good.

Carole- What a nice idea to bring your Mom her emails printed out!

Karen- Did your Mom pass her stones? ouch! Do you give your kids Saturday/ Sunday off? Do they have home work apart from your instruction?

Linda- You may have mentioned this before, but where is your nov 2 marathon? I am Glad to read that your DD's are doing well.

Christine- enjoy that rest day! Have fun on your upcoming ride with DD's BF

Jackie- Is the weather getting cooler yet for running? The climate is perfect now for runs, and I need to keep my runs to a minimum to heal this foot. GRRRRRR

Cathy- How was your casual day in flats and jeans? I love hot shoes, but I save them for dates with DH and such. ( so my tootsies don't protest) My foot is big for my short small body size 8.5 or 9 wide!

OK tata for now and enjoy the weekend friends!

Karen...I was surprised when my Mom wanted to try a PC. But once she got in contact with her old friends through email, she loved it. Neither of my DH's parents have one, which is tough as you have to actually print out pictures to send them!! Glad you got in a good 4 miler.

Christine...it does seem odd that most of the unruly dogs do have the same spray able type of owners...a trend you suppose?...:D...I do think your 55 mile ride could be similar to a hilly HM. Beau is doing well. I have not taken any pics since the "workout" one. I tried yesterday as he and Sadie were asleep on our bed (Sadie always sleeps there but Beau does not usually) but when I got the camera and went in there Sadie jumped down...darn!! A rest day would be good as you sure have been training hard. Enjoy your "carb loading" dinner. Thanks, I am sure Mom will love any emails I print.

Linda...I can see how you would not be able to run with Madison with the invisible fence and the confusion it would cause...:(..It has been a long time since I have run with a dog myself. Like I told Karen I was surprised my Mom was interested in a PC, but she has grown to love emailing.

Jackie...those dog owners can be a pain sometimes!! I think Beau will be a medium sized lab, not a real big one, (or I could be hoping). Mom is walking a bit ,but cannot put any weight on the broken leg for about 8 weeks so she kinda hops. But she seems to enjoy therapy. I like adding an extra workout sometimes. Good job with Bootcamp, that is a tough one.

Dallas...LOL about sleeping in by getting up at 5:30AM! Thanks re: my Mom, it is good to see her improving. No vest for me, I bought a weight bench with a very nice squat rack for STS, so as long as I can get under the barbell (which I can) I won't need a vest.

Judy...way to go on the iTrain purchases. I think I finally have enough! Good job with the 40 min iClimb and yoga. The yoga class sounds like a good one.

Got home from visiting Mom and DH will be fishing this afternoon/evening so I have a nice quiet house for a bit!!

Hi Cheetahs!

Dallas - Glad you got to sleep in even if it was early rising. Haven't seen the neighbor out since we initially talked. Even though we know where the other lives, I wouldn't feel right knocking on his door. So, I'll wait until we run into each other again. I may do another half if my hamstrings do ok when I run 10 miles. The St. Jude Marathon is coming up in December. Hope you enjoyed your abs and yoga and your run if you got it in.

Linda - I did the original Bootcamp. Thank you for the report on both DD. I'm glad to hear they're both doing well. When is younger DD due?

Judy - You went on a spending spree today with iTrain. Hope you enjoy the workouts. Yoga is kind of like having your own personal instructor. Glad it was a good class. We have had some cool mornings and I hoping for one tomorrow for my run.

Carole - Hope you enjoyed your quiet time.

I'm putting my feet up for the rest of the evening and exercise my fingers. Have a good night!
