Hi cheetahs!
I’m back…I had a late day at school followed by dinner & shopping with a friend and did not make it on the treadmill after all. I almost turned down the offer but then I thought ~ this is ridiculous. I do not *have* to work out every single day. I am working out most days of the week, and it is still possible to reach my goals that way. I saw on the open threads a discussion about being obsessed w/ fitness. I know I can go that route if I let myself (it is how I wound up with AT), and I really want to avoid that. I have been pretty good about striking a balance, and I think it’s OK to let life get in the way sometimes. My health is a priority, but I don’t want working out to completely block out my willingness to make time for
people.
Sunny ::: I’m so glad that your PT career has taken off like it has!! With your flexible schedule, it sounds like a win-win situation. Oh, I must’ve gotten my post in a split second before yours because I didn’t catch that—or I would’ve gladly transferred my post to yours!
Thanks ~ the videos haven’t arrived yet, but I look forward to trying them out.
Marcia ::: sounds like an awesome vaca! Ahhhh! I felt my stress factor go down a few notches just reading about it.
How did you like the running on the beach? That is how the plumbing works in Greece ~ I agree…VERY odd! Glad you are going to have a calmer week. We need those every now & again!
Karen ::: thanks ~ I don’t really mind ordinary needles so much…I had to get one in my back once which was NOT pleasant, but taking blood I’m usually OK with. Hope you enjoyed PUB!
Barb ::: I really understand parents’ frustration with HW. I always think of it this way: how would I feel if my boss *MADE* me take home 2 hrs. of work every single night? I’d be miserable. I think homework should be reasonable and fill a purpose. The only HW my students really get is to read an independent novel for 20 minutes/night Monday - Thursday nights. They have to complete a weekly log, where they write a 3-6 sentence personal reaction per night. That gets turned in every Friday. I never give HW on weekends or holidays nor do I give tests on Mondays. I think that’s just too much. They are kids, and they need to relax and spend time with family and friends! Hope your DS is feeling better. It was an interesting day with my Plagiarism Sting Operation. I detected four plagiarizers; twelve confessed! One of them denied it—in writing! After class, I asked him if he could tell me what the word “sentient” meant. He said, “What?” I repeated, “Sentient.” He said, “Oh. Ascension? It means, like to climb higher, like on a mountain.” I said, “No, sentient. S-e-n-t-i-e-n-t. You know—you used that word in your book review.” He actually tried to bluff an answer: “Oh, it’s like a guard.” I said, “Mm-hmm. OK, thanks.” Those who were honest will have the opportunity to redo the assignment for partial credit. Mr. Slick is getting the zero. Disheartening that he wouldn’t ‘fess up. Re: the calories thing y’day…I think what you meant is that I should just go for overall calorie burn – in other words, having a calorie deficit daily by burning more than I take in. Is that correct? Thanks for the message from Elaine ~ good to hear she is doing better. (Wow, what a novel I’ve written here, eh?)
Christine ::: lol about it being the Unhappiest Day of the Year. I’d never heard that before. So, wait…DH has a reputation in the neighborhood for shouting at the dogs? Did I read that correctly?
I love all your stories. I’m with you on the pushups ~ I need to get closer to the floor, and I think I should do them every other day. What is a DF? A dear friend?
Wendy :::
on the bloodwork. I feel so bad for the little ones having to get stuck with a needle. I love snow but NOT driving in it. I had an SUV brake very suddenly in front of me this morning & had a close call. I guess I’d gotten a little cocky that the roads weren’t so bad and had gotten too close to him. Then we hit a slick patch and he braked hard out of nowhere. So yeah, I feel you on that! And I’m known for wiping out on foot, too! At my school, I used to have at least one hallway wipeout per year.
I think I run slower when it’s colder, too. More layers?? WTG on today’s killer workout and on the pullup progress!
Carole ::: thanks for the recommendation! I will try to get a hold of that one. So you gave a thumbs up to cardio & upper DM premix, huh? I don’t think I’ve tried any of those.
Judy ::: sounds like you enjoyed your weekend! Balmy 20 degrees??? *bows down to you!* I do feel like a wimp reading about your runs. We had some snow this morning, and I saw a guy out running. I do think running in the snow is fun…just don’t like the freezing cold temps!
Susan ::: OK, I’m jealous ~ you get to have all these cheetah GTGs! The bloodwork is just routine. I am about to begin Accutane treatment. I have to agree w/ you about Carole’s recovery week! Sounds like a great gig you had there…If I weren’t a teacher, I think it would be something I’d enjoy, too…It must be so rewarding to help people transform their lives and meet their goals.
Jess ::: hey! Great job on the painting progress. How did Kiersten make out at the ENT?
LD ::: lucky you on that side of the Delaware scoring the 2-hour delay! *lol* about your son WANTING to go school! THAT’s different!
Kristi ::: glad you enjoyed a quiet weekend. I am amazed by moms who do-it-all…I don’t know how you fit it all into your day! Hope your DS can keep those sniffles at bay. I’m glad to hear a vote of approval for Gin ~ I’d never heard of her before, so I wasn’t sure if it was a good pick or not.
OK, cheetahs ~ have a great night!
Cathy
