Mornin', cheetahs ~ Happy Labor Day aka my last day of freedom! :)

Still have DOMS from Saturday's ME, so I only did yoga yesterday, which turned out to be a pretty intense session. Not sure what I'm up for today. Will decide later. Want to enjoy a nice, quiet UNRUSHED morning. So first, I'm going to catch up with last night's posts...

HI Cathy & Judy,
Have a great day! I'm planning to do a shorter run than planned, 6 miles or so . I just finished PLB and floorwork. Gotta get out the door now!

Cathy--hope the DOMS continues to improve

Judy--glad the hockey games were fun. Good luck with the back to school excitement. My kids start tomorrow.

Hi to all who check in later.

Barb
:) :)

OK, catching up from last night...

Elaine :: glad you had such a strong long run!

Jess :: cool new pics! I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled during the Pilates infomercials I’ve seen lately but haven’t seen you. Is Jamie Lee Curtis the host or is it still Daisy Fuentes? Maybe I’m seeing an old one. I still haven’t tried it yet. Decided to hold off for now since I’ve just added yoga back in. Anyway, glad you’re enjoying that new van. Busy weekend! Hope those allergies clear up.

Natalie :: Hmm, I’d have to say I find Cathe’s workouts to be the only thing I consider on par with running in terms of how hard of a workout I get. Power Hour/MIS/Body Max is on the way…can’t wait to try it! Maybe I’ll feel differently then. :) I still have to conquer BC, too. The comments I’ve heard make me believe I’m in for a hurtin’.

Judy :: how did your son’s team do in the tournament? Two days off must’ve been a nice treat for you. I can’t remember ever reading about you taking a rest day!

Hi to Carole, Wendy, Laurie, Christine, Barb, Shelly, Laura, Mattea, Thomasina, Gayle, Pamela, Marcia...oh boy, this is getting tough now...Colleen, Katie (hope your back's doing better w/ some rest), Jennifer, Wendy Marie, Adri, Dina, Katrina, Susan, and anyone else who stops by. (Whew, is that everybody?)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Yes...ME can give you that kind of long lasting DOMS! Enjoy your last day of freedom. I agree about having an unrushed morning...I actually have no errands to run!

Judy...have a good run. Nice that you got to watch your DS in his hockey tournament.

Barb...sounds like you are working the legs hard today...:)...have a great run.

I'll be doing iTread #5 60 min on my Elliptical, P90X Chest, shoulders & triceps and some abs.

Have a great Labor Day...:)

morning everyone,

I did my elliptical yesterday for 38 minutes and wts for upper body. I am still having very slow progress with the muscle definition. Its probably my diet though, hasnt been the greatest. I thought about doing a 5k today but changed my mind so I will probably go for a run later. It is cool here so that is the only good thing about being able to run later in the day. We have a couple of other 5k's this month around my town so I will do one of those.

I cant seem to pull anyones picture trails up anymore. I use to be able to,dont know what happended that I cant now.

happy holiday to everyone!

Wow, some of you don't start school until tomorrow? I have had students since August 15th. I bet we get a ton of new kids tomorrow. I work at a Title One School (high poverty) and kids tend to move in and move out a lot.

I a not feeling so great. At first I thought it was just allergies and I took a Clartin D. They cottonmouth me so bad that as a runner I hate to take them. It did not do any good so now I know it is more than allergies. I want to get 4-5 miles in today.

Have good workouts today.

Natalie

""how did your son’s team do in the tournament? Two days off must’ve been a nice treat for you. I can’t remember ever reading about you taking a rest day!""

Well DS and his team WON their tournament. It was very exciting.

Actually, I am pretty consistent with rest days. I typically take one per week, but during hockey season, I sometimes have to take two days.
But that is OK, because I just get it all in in 5 days and enjoy the rest.

Hello Cheetahs,

Cathy---Yes, I know about DOMS from ME, I suspect I'll have it tomorrow from MIS! It is nice to have an "unrushed" morning!

Judy--- Enjoy your run! glad you had a great time at DS tournament.

Barbara--have a great run, 6 miles will give you a great burn

Laura--have fun on your elliptical, now I want one of those too!

Susan--- Welcome!, I just joined a few days ago and I'm lovin' it!

Natalie-- fitkansaschick aka fitlibrarian--I'm a librarian too!

Carole---Enjoy your nice and long workout--I had a long one too!

No running for me today. Instead, I did MIS (gosh that's a long one 75 min ;) and a new video by Greg Sims called "Cardio Classics Revisited"--I liked it, nice old fashioned-Hi-Lo, cueing is great and it's only 48 min--comes with workout options, I only did 30 min. of it today.
To all who follow--have a great holiday and workout,

Katrina:)

Good morning! Today I'll do about 45 minutes of elliptical and some sort of weights.....maybe PLB. I think I'm at the point of being ready to taper on my weight workouts to make sure the emphasis is really on my running for the next two weeks before I TAPER for the marathon! (Can you tell that I am excited?). I've got a 13 mile run next weekend and then my last 20 mile run the following week, not to mention the miles in between those. The mental aspect will be boosted greatly if the majority of my runs are high quality on top of quantity. Anyway, that's my thinking behind backing off on weights right now but it won't be easy to do because I enjoy it so much.

Sounds like everyone is doing well today! Gotta go workout...... Talk to you later!

Good morning everyone!

Thank you for the WARM welcome from you all. I am very excited to be a cheetah. I have to say I am very sore from my 8.5 mile. I now want to do a 10 miler. I tend to always have to outdo myself.

I am going to try to take a rest day today. I have a really hard time doing this. I may just do some yoga or upper body work.

I have a 10k run on Septmeber 16th. I really want to make sure that I can just cruise through it.

You guys are all so incredible with your workouts. Do you guys listen to music when you run or do you just enjoy the outdoor scenery?

I really have to start focusing more on my food and eating cleanly. I hate when I undo my hard work with poor eating. Do any of you struggle with this?

Anyway, enough rambling here. I am off to take my 3 girls to the San Francisco zoo. Have a great day and great workouts!

Susan

Hi girls.

I'm too tired and lazy to catch up on all of the posts so forgive me for not doing personals right now.

I ended up not going to the L/D party yesterday. DH went w/a friend and I went by another friend's house for the evening who was havin' a bad day and needed someone to talk to. I know that sounds depressing compared to a party but it ended up actually being fun so it was all good. :)

No work out yesterday and it's lookin' like no work out today. I have some time but again, I didn't get much sleep last night so I think I will just skip it. It's a holiday weekend so I'm allowed, right? :p

My friend from running class called me a little while ago. She ran her race this morning. She said it was fantastic! We are possibly going to run 2 races together now...one at the end of Sept and one in Oct. I'd like to enter a race that is sooner though so I am going to pick one and see if she'd like to join me. Maybe we'll nixx the one at the end of the month then. Who knows.

Well, I've rambled on enough.:p

Have a great day!

Hi Susan! I forgot, but I was going to mention yesterday that my diet does suffer *sometimes* when I don't have the focus of a specific goal. But mostly I eat crap when I'm stressed out about something. That is when I become my own worst enemy! For instance, last weekend I ran a 20 mile training run that did not go as well as I preferred. So, there was a day or two when I ate chips, cookies and chocolate, and not necessarily in moderation. Then, on top of being pissed about the bad 20 mile run, I had to deal with the negative feelings caused by my bad eating. What I did to regroup was to get my focus back on the big picture plus strategizing the next 20 mile run a little better. Part of the strategy was to fuel my body with food that is going to benefit my cause. You said that you have a 10K in less than two weeks. I would suggest trying not to consider how many calories you burn from running but keep in mind that you will run your 10K so much better if you stick with an *almost* always clean diet.

Hi cheetas!

Not much to say today--I am still nursing my cold and doing a lot of sleeping. It wasn't how I was planning to spend my holiday weekend, but it's nice to have the time to recover.

Hope everyone's day is going great :)

Jennifer

Hey Cheetahs!!
I worked chest, back, abs, and did 30 mintue cardio today. I was getting kinda tired by the end of my strength training so I just fast walked for cardio today. I really wanted to jog, but was gettin tired. I hope I can do it Wednesday. I have to..I'll make myself}(

Jennifer-Hope you get better soon cheetah!! We love ya;-)

Susan-Great job moving up to a 10 miler. Great job girl;-)

Wendy-Girl, you work so hard. Give yourself a day or 2. Your fantastic and your body will thank you.

Elaine-Great job on the 20 miler. Thats must be a killer}(

Take Care!!

Katrina, what type of Librarian are you? I am an Elementary School Librarian. In Kansas you must have a BA in teaching and graduate hours in Library Media for certification. Because I am really more of a teacher I opted to get my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction instead of a MLS.

Susan, I HAVE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC WHEN I RUN! I had a Rio Carbon 5 Gig that would mess up if sweat got on it. Not runner friendly. Because I had the extended warranty at Best Buy I was able to take it back. I decided to down grade. I have a 513 Sansdisk. It holds about 100 songs. It really is all I need. Runners World ranked it as a top player. I change my songs on it about once a month. I keep my player on shuffle here is a sample of 10 songs currently on my player: King Of Nothing, Metalica; Down With the Sickness, Disturbed; Love Machine, Artist?; Why Don't You Get A Job, The Offspring; Just A Little Bit, Gina G.; Dirty Deeds, AC/DC; Hey Ya!, Outkast; Word Up, Korn; Personal Jesus, Depeche Mode; He's Gong The Distance, Cake.

My 4 miles were slow going after Body Max yesterday. The next two days for me are rest days.

Hey guys I am going to want some diet help after my half. I am stuck at 132.5 and would love to drop about 10 pounds. I am almost 44 and it is a battle.

I'm a little too kaput for personals, too. Just finished BC for the first time, and boy, was that rough. I feel completely spent. Couldn't do those terminators very long - a little hard on the knees. I hated those things in elementary school, and I can tell you not much has changed. I also couldn't hack those jumping front kicks. Man, does this one pack a punch. I haven't run since the 5K last Wednesday (wanted to give my leg aches a chance to dissipate), but I'm hoping to get a nice run in tomorrow after the 1st day of school (teachers only).

Have a good night, all...talk to you in the am.

-cathy

OK, finally checking in! Another busy day for this cheetah!! We did a 14 mile bike ride this morning. I overslept though, don't know how that happened!! Stupid alarm! I woke up at 6:28 & we were supposed to meet at 6:30!! Luckily I always set everything out the night before so I just hopped out of bed, threw on my clothes, brushed my teeth, and headed out the door! Erin was just riding up the drive when I walked out. Whew! We had a nice ride, but it misted & sprinkled on us for most of the way. Nothing like our run last weekend in it though! :p

Then we headed to my IL's for the day & saw my dh's aunt & cousins that had come to visit too. It was a nice relaxing day- ate too much good food- teriyaki chicken kabobs were so yummy & I did eat some of my MIL's cheesecake!! ;-) I'm not feeling guilty about it! :9

Sorry I guess I'm not the only one not up to posting personals today! I hope you all had a great weekend & I'll try to catch up tomorrow! Just a 5 mile run in the morning planned so far!

Hugs,

Hey Sekcy Cheetahs!!
Fitkansaschick- I bet the 4 miles was hard of Body Max}( }( I don't have that w/o, but seen the video clip and it looks tought!!! Plus its 90 minutes}(

Jess- Hope you had a good day bikeriding! Its ok you splurged a day. You work so hard cheetah;-)

Have a great rest of labor day cheetahs!!!!
