Cathlete

i am going to try to muster up some motivation and energy to exercise.

Morning, cheetahs! http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/sunburn.gif

It'd been so long since I had to actually report in for jury duty, that I'd forgotten just how mind-numbinghttp://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/loosingitsm.gif an experience it is. Though my number was never called (luckily) and I did bring reading material, the sitting and waiting http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/waiting.gif was the pits. But I'm GLAD I will not have to deal with that for another 3 years.

http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/hapydancsmil.gif http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/hapydancsmil.gif http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/hapydancsmil.gif

So onto personals:

Lorie ~ I still can't believe "The Saint" was yellow-carded. That was so bizarre. Saw the cutest clip on YouTube--the boys were drenching the photogs outside the locker room in champagne...Glad you've kicked the crud to the curb. Is the Aruba countdown on yet?

Christine ~ The Fab 40s workout looks good...Sounds like a great time was had at the dinner party. Pic, please! :7 I can see why you needed a bit of downtime after being on the run so much.

Carole ~ Thanks for sharing that video. Those water bombers are so cool. So have you been seeing them load up and refuel?...I will do some comp maintenance today I've probably neglected--thanks for the reminder...I'm totally cool with Germany not winning. Of course, I would have liked to see them do better, but Spain was most definitely the best team of the tournament, and they were so fun to watch. It was an exciting tourney altogether, with late goals and surprising upsets and great performances by Turkey and Russia...I hope John can rediscover his purpose and spirit. I imagine it does take a long time to come to terms when you're dealt a blow like that.

Gloria ~ Running followed by a yoga is such a nice combo. Glad your calf is feeling better. How long is your tutoring session? Your iPod is due to arrive today, right?...Sorry the soup was only so-so. It's good to experiment, though...Jury duty is the worst...The European Championship and World Cup are each every 4 years, and they overlap like the Olympics. I get really fired up for both 'cause it's my only opportunity to see international-level stars playing...I did see an artice on the Freedom Writers issue. Odd.

Shelly ~ So glad to hear your sis & BIL are safe, and things are quelled for now...sounds like a lovely property you found. Hoping everything falls into place for you. http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/goodluck.gif

Judy ~ Glad you enjoyed your weekend with DD22...I have seen Pollan's book in passing but did not pick it up. What is the basic premise behind it?

Jackie ~ Sounds like another full weekend for you...well, I would've liked to see Germany do better, but I have a lot of respect for the Spanish side and believe they absolutely deserved the title. So yes, I'm happy for them that they won...Re the jury duty: oh, it was bad. Very bad. *lol* But thanks for the thought! :7

Wendi ~ Hey, when you think about all the times you've run FARTHER than intended, I'm sure it all equalizes in the end...how do the legs feel today?

Wendy ~ Glad you enjoyed your KB workout. I'm sure you will figure out the rest. You always do...*lol* Re: soccer, that is actually the one and ONLY sport I follow and enjoy thoroughly. Hotties are a major perk, natch! http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/evilgrin.gif

I'm still doing my non-rotation, at least for one more week. Not sure what I'll be doing today but will report on it later.

Have a great Tuesday!

jackie- i love your "today is monday all over again" because that is EXACTLY how mondays feel!!!

shelly-when will you hear for sure about your offer? will there be a cheetah house party in the future??? ;-)

gloria-bosu blast is a toughie but a goodie! i like it. i am planning on doing some sort of cardio today. maybe the ext with a cc. great job on the 5 miles!

wendy-i don't think you should continue with a workout that you are not enjoying. good for you to let ab go for now.

wt-so sorry about your computer issues! i hate when that happens!!! also sorry you are stuck with jury duty!

carole-yay for the water bomber!!! i really hope it gives you some relief!

christine-yah, i am feeling better for the most part. i am still stuffed up but i feel fine. that's quite a workout you did today!!!

okay, time to find my motivation. i have a mediation meeting today at 10 then a parent meeting (for that case i tested) at 2. then, it's home to pack before i go see the fam. I HATE PACKING!!! i ALWAY take waaaay too much!

i posted this on the oal thread, but thought i would brag here as well. i am going to florida to meet my new nephew and see my beautiful niece. how about these two (not that i'm biased AT ALL!!!)?
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh292/Lederr/IanandGina.jpg

my nephew is 4 months old and already 21 pounds!!! he was 9 lbs. 10 oz. at birth and she delivered him NATURALLY!!! eeks! there's no reason for that! :p ;( ;-)

wt- I KNOW!!! i noticed that! maybe he got a yellow card for being TOO HAWT!!! :p :p :p i think we should plan a trip to the world cup. hey! it's two years away, we can start planning! right now i am counting down to my florida trip. the aruba countdown will start when i get back on monday. aruba, jamaica, ooh, i'm gonna take ya...

WT ~ my jury duty service ended yesterday. Luckily, I was not called...I didn't realize you were going to FL first. Your niece and nephew are so adorable!! That's a tank of a little lad. *shudder* Bless your SIL. Oh, and take lots of pics! :)...Ha ha re: Iker. Then he ought have had a RED card for that...I went to the '06 World Cup (was very lucky to win tickets by lotto) and have been hoping to make the next one, too. It is supposed to be in South Africa, but I have heard some rumblings that it may be diverted to Germany again because of a possibly tenuous security situation. Oh, here is the link to the post-game celebration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIs2HfKBmV8

Good morning Lorie, Cathy and all Cheetahs who wander into the den today!

So I've been up for awhile cooking...am I weird that I LOVE to do my big cooking jobs first thing in the morning? I've got a big ol' pot of black beans simmering away, made some guacamole and grilled up some plums and nectarines. All set for some nummy munchies for the week :9.

Because I started cooking I lost all motivation to workout...until I saw today's thread title and, boom, instant motivation. Thanks Lorie }(! I just don't know what to do. It's gorgeous outside today so I was thinking another run but I never got to the kickboxing this week....hmmmm, choices, choices!

Whatever I decide to do I better do it quick. Today is my last day off and I have a boatload of things to do, including getting over to the college I'm looking at and speaking with someone face-to-face about entry requirements, financial aid, yada, yada, yada.

Lorie - Sorry you didn't sleep well last night :(. Oh my, your niece is beautiful!!!! Uh, yeowch!!!!

Cathy - The legs feel pretty good today, thanks. You know, that's a great way to look at it. That's our Cathy...always finding the upside to everything :D. DSO and I played a 18 hole par 3 yesterday and I think the walking helped loosen em up a bit. I'm sorry jury duty was beyond boring for ya yesterday, but look at it this way...if you lived where I live you have to sit in that room for the whole WEEK x(! I'm lucky cuz I get off on a four year agricultural exemption. When I get called I head to the office, tell them I work with horses and they don't bother me for another four years...gotta love it lol!

Gonna go refill the java and catch up on yesterday's happenings. BRB!

HI Energetic morning Cheetahs :)

I am having a cup of yummy coffee and listening to the birds.

Cathy- In Defense of Food is an interesting take on how our government and the media have steered the public knowledge of nutrition in specific directions. Some of which are not complete truths. For example the oat bran fad and the low fat fad. These promotions were take off on half truths and food companies jumped on with processed nutrients that would support the latest claims. (Like fat free cookies loaded with extra sugar to taste good) Pollen's position is that the nutrition scientists have actually made America more obese by these claims such as these.

Lorie- Your neice and nephew are so adorable. so when is your Aruba trip? give up the details :)

Christine- Yay for getting in a workout :) how do you feel today? I did see Pollen's other book. What does DD think?

for whomever inquired- the planks in NR are not required on the BOSU, but I started them that way and have just continued. There is no way I could have managed 2 minute BOSU planks when I started, but now I am doing them, with a strugle but good form. I am wishing this phase and phase 5 were over truth be told. Then stage 6 is optional I will not do it and 7 is more cutting than strength building. I am looking forward to that phase.

Wendy- You have had great results with jumping around in your workouts, so no wories :) I was skeptical to invest in them for that reason.

today will be a short cardio and then golf. I did not have the ambition to do cardio after NROL4W yesterday.

Wendy - Oh, heck, I would love to join you guys in Philly! When is it? Great job with the KBs yesterday! I can't blame ya for getting bored with AB...I don't think I would have lasted as long as you did working out of a book. Maybe the little change up is just the ticket for ya.

Shelly - Sooooo, relieved to hear that DSis and BIL are safe...I was so worried about them (and you). Oh boy, I look like a human pretzel over here as I've got every appendage crossed for ya in hopes that your offer is accepted. What a gorgeous piece of property!!!!

Carole - So sorry to hear that John is in a bit of a low spot. Sending {{{HUGS}}}. I can't even imagine how difficult that must be. How wonderfl that your visits cheer him up so! Glad to hear that you finally have a "normal" sun...YAY on the bomber!

Judy - Great job on your workout yesterday...2 min BOSU planks?!?! WOW! Glad to hear you had a wonderful weekend with DD! You never slow down do ya? That book sounds interesting...may have to check that one out!

Christine - Glad you had a great time at the party! Sooooo, where are the pics of the dashing couple???? Come on, you know we want to see! Uh, yikes, that was a monster of a workout for someone who was going to go a little easier ...are you even walking today LOL?

Jackie - "Entertaining" DBF, huh :+ ;)? LOL about him having to get over feeling left out! It does sound like you were quite busy. Great workouts...yesterday's sounded killer!

Gloria - Do ya like kiwi fruit and strawberries? They are also VERY high in potassium, just don't get the buzz that bananas get. Glad to hear your calf felt okay after your run. Was it you who said something about a black bean hummus? If it was would you mind sharing the recipe...sounds YUMMY :9.

Still don't know what workout I'm going to do...sigh. Oops, phone's ringing. BBIAB!

Good morning cheetahs! Still no word from the realtor todayx( but the seller has til noon today so we'll definitely be hearing one way or another. In a little while I'll be heading out the door for a run along the river... be going for 5 miles or so. Later it'll be 4DS BC, Bi/Tri.

Gloria- those calf cramps are wicked... hope the bananas do the trick for you. BTW, I've always wondered where that term charlie horse came from. Are you going to use your new iPod for workouts only?

Wendy- I can do a workout from something printed out every now and then but would find it pretty difficult to stick with it for a while... don't blame you for wanting something different.

Carole- How much longer wiill you be doing the X+? Congrats on the good dentist check up. I always hold my breath on those visits. Terrified they're gonna tell me I need to have oral surgery or something along those lines.

Christine- It was difficult saying goodbye to DH yest and then coming back to this quiet apartment.
Have you made a chiro appointment for your back yet? That fab 40 workout does look like a good one.

Lorie- Sorry you had a crummy nights sleep and hope you found some energy somewhere. Maybe you'll be able to nap later. We should be hearing a reply to our offer today. Love your pic of your niece and nephew.... you have a good reason to brag! How long will you be in florida?

Cathy- What a waste of a perfectly good day... sitting there waiting for your number to be called!!!!
However, it's even more tedious to be called end then sit thru actual jury selection so I'd say you made out well! Have a great time with whatever workout suits you today.

Wendi- Hope you make the most out of your last day off.. how wonderful you are going to the college today for info... hope it really motivates you!!

Judy- That book In Defense of Food does sound intriguing! Interesting how when everything began to be touted as fat free the obesity rates soared. Sounds like a fun workout day for you... enjoy!

That's it for now. Have a great July 1st y'all!

Shelly

popping in before i jump in the shower for a workout report. i ended up doing cc3 on the ext then added on 23 minutes of my own with varying speed and resistance. i planned on tagging on 20 minutes, but the next time i looked at my watch it was 23 minutes!

i got a good sweaty workout in and feel good about that.

wt-you're right. his hotness is DEFINITELY red card worthy! as for the cup being in germany as opposed to south africa, i think it would be more feasible to get to germany. woo-hoo...germany bound!

wendi-that is interesting about doing your major cooking first thing in the morning. i guess one good thing is thehouse doesn't get as hot from the stove earlier on.

judy-i know i am biased, but i think she is just beautiful. she's half korean, half american. as for aruba, i leave on friday the 11th. we were going to go to hawaii, but decided on aruba instead. i was definitely in favor of aruba because of the shorter plane flight!

shelly-i will be gone until monday. i have someone staying at the house with the babies for both florida and aruba, so that makes me feel better. i will miss my furry little children, tho.

okay, now i really gotta shower and get going. :7 :p :)

Good Morning Cheetah Peeps!:)

Lori: Sorry about your bad night's sleep. Hope you aren't too tired today. Have fun visiting your family. Your niece and nephew are just precious!!!

Cathy: Yeah, I have "the rest" figured out already pretty much! I am on to a new rotation as of yesterday! }( I am hoping a month of something different will draw out motivation to get back to AB. I really liked it, just need a break right now....Pesky exercise ADD! :7

Wendi: The Philly race is in November...11/23 I *THINK* but don't quote me on it. Not sure if I'm actually gonna do it but I am considering it....}( Keep us posted on the college situation!

Judy: Oooooh, maybe I'll do stage 7 of NROLW with you! To heck with the rest of the rotation!}( LOL

Shelly: Keepin' everything crossed for ya so you get that house!!!!:) Keep us posted!

~

Wendi ~ you are quite the chef! Nope, you're not weird. You've got a routine that works for you...Glad the round of golf loosened up the legs for ya...Now THAT'S a nice perk o' the job, ay? Yeah, apparently, we had a similar setup where you had to report every day for TWO weeks! I would've lost my mind. :7

Judy ~ thanks for the background on Pollan's book. It does sound interesting. Enjoy your cardio & golf.

Shelly ~ have a wonderful river run! I have some friends who used to train on the Ben Frank walkway. That might be another nearby option to consider...Oh, you can bet I'm VERY happy my # wasn't called!! :7

WT ~ great workout! You're such an overachiever! ;) :7...I've also seen England and the US mentioned as backups but nothing official, as far as I know...how's the dissertation coming along? (Is it OK to mention the "D" word?)

Wendy ~ have fun with your new rotation.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy..glad you got out of Jury Duty. I agree that sitting all day is the pitts, I have done that in past years. I have not seen THAT bomber load up or refuel, but I have seen our own helicopters dip buckets into the lake and get water for fires. I am so happy we got the Big Bomber though. I usually keep up on PC maintenance as I hate problems! If you freeze a lot in "Word" itself it might need to be repaired also. For some reason my "Word" got messed up and repairing it was a breeze. Glad you got to watch an exciting match with Spain, I know how that feels as there are always those special football games for me. Thanks for your comments on John. I can only imagine how hard life is for him at his young age. He is always in my prayers.

Lorie...what an adorable niece and new nephew!! I hate packing too. I hope you have a great time in Florida with family!!

Wendi...you have guacamole in your house???!!! I love that stuff!! Good luck at the college getting info. Thank you for your "hugs" for John. He is such a sweet guy that this just breaks my heart. A normal sun last night too!!

Judy..I might have to check out that book! I believe the gov't has also interfered with the beef industry, and most people have no idea of the growth hormones and antibiotics they are ingesting when they eat beef. Same goes with Poultry too. Enjoy cardio and golf.

Shelly...I am planning on a 90 Day X+ rotation (unless I get STS before the 90 days are up!). I share the same dread as you do for the dentist visits!! i feel I have had so much work done on my mouth! Enjoy your run along the river and 4DS. Hope you get some house news soon!!

Christine...I was amazed at the stats on that bomber, 4 acres of water in one drop?!! WOW!! I know our air crews finally got up yesterday as the visibility was better so that will help. Looks like a great weight workout you got in yesterday!

Gloria...glad your calf is better. Good job on the 5 miles and yoga yesterday.

Today is legwork and IntervalX+. Then yard work!

Have a great day...:D

Hey Cheetahs!

Lorie – sorry you did not sleep well last night! Those are two cutie patooties!! How adorable! Have fun in Florida on your visit! My daughter was 9 pounds 13 oz and delivered naturally – fortunately she has a nice small head. Although I wonder if that’s why I was happy with one. :+ Good job on the EXT!!!

Cathy – Oh, I’m glad you did not get called and don’t have to sit through the waiting again today! In California, they call in groups of numbers, so you don’t have to go in until your number is called. 3 years? That’s great.

Wendi – I sometimes cook first thing in the morning. It’s relaxing. Have fun today running your errands at the school. I’ll bet the time off felt incredible!! I don’t have pics yet – but they will come. :p Have fun with whatever workout you decide!

Judy – how long is Stage 5? Are you seeing good results? DD enjoyed Pollen’s book. She’s actually eating healthier, too – although she’s always been pretty good at eating well. I do agree with a lot of what he says. I sometimes wonder when eating became such a death trap.

Shelly – I have my fingers crossed for you! Enjoy your run! Sounds nice. No chiro appt – but I do have a massage today. Back is feeling really good today. I’m happy about that.

Wendy – Is that the Philly Marathon you’re considering? I know you have an 18 mile in October. I have exercise ADD, as well. I like to do certain things for a while, then I get bored.

Carole – The skies have been more clear, which is nice, although I did wake up to ash on my car yesterday again. The Big Sur fire is causing the most issues around here. And it breaks my heart to think of a fire in that gorgeous area. I agree that that bomber is amazing.

Well, this just must be my time – now I have a sore throat and a fever. I’m going to work from home (I get upset when people go into the office sick). Probably no workout but we’ll see. I’m working half a day today (we get a half day because we had to work through the company picnic), so that will be nice. I do have a lot of things to do today, so I hope I start to feel better – I have an eye doc appointment and a massage, plus I’m taking DD15 out to lunch. On the bright side, the back feels MUCH better. :+ Have a great day all!

Morning Cheetahs!

Carole: I did use the foam roller on my calf. YIKES was that painful, but I am up today with no pain at all!! Yipee!!!

Christine: Wow, that is a great workout! I think the bananas worked. Feeling fabulous this morning!! :)

Cathy: It was a nice combo, my favorite actually. On my first 10 mile race that was my strategy for training injury free and it worked. Good to hear you are done with jury duty! :) The tutoring is only an hour. We are doing a novel study, some math and writing. I have already filled that hour and we do a lot of just chatting. She is a funny little girl and we have a good time! She is only 11, but we do have some commen interests. Cheese being the biggest one! LOL! I also believe the story about the teacher is odd. You sound like me with the workouts, enjoy whatever you do today!

Lorie: What a beautiful little girl! Natural child birth??? I bow down to that woman! Enjoy the cardio today.

Wendi: I LOVE kiwi and strawberries. I will post the hummus recipe later. I am a bit busy this morning/afternoon, but look for it this evening on the thread. Black bean hummus is the BEST! Call me a snob, but I prefer it over the store bought!!

Shelly: Dying to find out whether or not you get the new house! I will use my ipod for both workouts and music. I will be for sure downloading some itreads I bought that I couldn't fit on my other ipod, cardio coach and some John Prine and Madonna. My music tastes are varied. Enjoy the 5 miles along the river. I love the sound of water on my runs!

Drinking coffee, will have breakfast and finalize my plans for tutoring. Workout will have to be later. I also have to clean out the fridge of some nasty leftovers from a while ago! x( I have a very weak stomach so this should be interesting! Have a great day! BBL!

Christine: We posted at the same time. (((HUGS))) to our sick Cheetah. Hope you are feeling better soon. Good to hear about the back!! :)

Carole ~ Thankfully, Word isn't freezing up on me...just the net. I was in the habit of typing up personals in Word, but lately, I have just gone back and forth between two windows...I have had a lot of work done on my teeth, too!...that *is* amazing about how much water the bomber can drop at one time -- as well as how it can fill up. Very cool!...Will keep John & family in prayers, too.

Christine ~ So sorry you've been hit with a bug. I get annoyed, too, when kids or colleagues are too sick to be in school but come in, anyway. That helps no one...Hope you perk up to enjoy lunch w/ DD15. I'm sure that massage will do wonders!!...Reminds me, I need to make an eye appt. as well...I heard from some of the jurors who did have to go up for selection that it would have been a five-day trial, so yeah, I am lucky all I had to do was be bored to death for 7 hours! :7

Gloria ~ mmm, I love cheese! Hey, you just might be my other wonder twin! :7...Which novel are you reading together?...Looking forward to that hummus recipe. Hope the fridge cleanout wasn't too much of a grossout!

http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/exercise/th_SnowBunny_tns.jpg
http://img16.glitterfy.com/53/glitterfy084824T933D37.gif

"Do you want to feel my spatula?" Run, Fat Boy, Run

Cathy: LOL about the wonder twin comment! We do seem to have a lot in common. We are reading Al Capone Does my Shirts. I forget the author's name. I am scared to go into the fridge! I am trying to muster the strength so I thought I would post instead! :)

Here is the recipe for black bean hummus:

5 cloves garlic
2 (15 oz.) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
4 tbsp. lemon juice
3 tbsp. tahini
2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp. smoked paprika (reg. paprika is fine)
Blend in food processor and enjoy!!!!

Now I really have to get moving. The day seems to be slipping away from me! :)

Good afternoon Cheetahs!

Shelly - Glad to hear DS is better. Sorry you're missing DH already. Hope the months fly by for you. I hope you have gotten good news from the realtor by now.

Gloria - Sure hope the extra potassium helps with those cramps. Good job on the 5 miles yesterday. How did cleaning out the fridge go for you?

Wendy - Not having a DVD telling me what to do at 4:30 in the morning is one reason I haven't jumped on the NROWL & AB bandwagon. I'm sure you will get back to it one day.

Cathy - Sorry about the computer issues. Hope you can figure out what's causing the problems. Glad jury duty is over for you. They could bypass me any time and I wouldn't mind at all. I started paying myself for every mile I run last week. I'll see how long that lasts.

Carole - How cool about the water bomber! Wish I could view from work. Glad you're enjoying P90X+. Are you using the Perfect Push Ups? Since you are a computer geek, do you think the free McAfee that comes with MSN is enough protection? Yay for the clean bill of health from the dentist! That yard work is never ending!

Christine - Kept DBF entertained. We went to the mall and then to a BD party. It was fun except they didn't much food I could eat. Ate mac & cheese and some dessert. Good workout yesterday! Sorry you're not feeling well. Get better soon. Glad the back feels better. Bet the massage will help too. Enjoy lunch with DD.

Lorie - Sorry you didn't sleep well last night. FL will be nice. Can't see the pic of your neice and nephew from work. Bet they are cuties. Natural! OUCH!! They had to knock me completely out when I had my kids. I didn't want to play a part in no more than I had to. Sounds like some good vacation plans for you.

Wendi - My you were cooking early and some delicious dishes too. Good luck with college today. So, what workout did you end up doing?

Judy - Sounds like you had a peaceful morning. Enjoy golfing.

Today's workout was iTread #15 40 minutes, 20 minutes of iClimb #22 and a 20 minute Yoga Zone.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Jackie

Hey Girls.

With warm up and cooldown included (it's usually not) in my mileage on the TM this morning was 4.36 in 50 minutes. I did a 10 minute w/u, CC# 8 challenge 3 for my HIIT, 5 min cool down, 20 minute SS run and a 3 minute cool down. My butt is WHOOPED...but in a GOOD way ofcourse. }( ;) :)

Jackie: NOTHING would motivate me to work out at 4:30 in the morning!:p I give you TONS of credit!

Carole: Holy cow...what a killer combo you have going on today. I would never want to pair up interval x with lower body and THEN do yardwork. You are a braver soul then I!:p

Christine: Are you INSANE, girl!? LOL No way, not the full mary...the half only!:) My plan for a full is solidly planted in 2009. :p Sorry you are feeling crummy. Hope it passes soon!

Gloria: LOL I have been looking at the uneaten left overs piling up in my fridge as well. I really need to get them outta there before they can walk away on thier own!:p

Looks like I'm caught up on personals...just in time for my nap!;)

BBL!
