Hi cheetahs! I'm home! I'm trying to catch up with a couple of days of posts, so hopefully I don't miss anyone...
Linda :: I’m really sorry about your lab…it is tough losing a four-legged family member and having to make that difficult decision…but it was the right thing, the humane and unselfish thing to do as she is no longer suffering now. Even though you didn’t want to, putting her down was honestly and truly the best thing for her. I feel for you because it truly is a very hard thing to witness…I remember when I was 19, I had to take my cat to be put to sleep…she was really sick & weak with feline leukemia…and when the vet had her on the exam table, she came over to me and nestled her head into my arm. I felt like a monster at that moment. As I watched her poor, little body go lifeless, I managed to hold it together in the office, but I bawled all the way home. It really is awful. So lotsa (((HUGS))) comin’ your way.
Christine :: smiled about o’dark thirty. Yes, I did manage to sleep in until around 6:30 Denver time the other day. Thank you for thinking of me re: the storm (see below for details). I wish I could help with thoughts on rotations, but I can never manage to do one with my schedule. I will say, though, that I continue to be more and more intrigued by P90x and the following its gotten here. I just received a new Collage Video catalog, so maybe I will attempt to branch out. Hope Anna enjoyed her b-day yesterday! I love the Southwestern Eggrolls from Chili’s—SO tasty but SO not good for the diet! BTW, I can’t believe you have your running schedule figured out through the end of April! You are WAY too organized, woman! *lol*
Carole :: glad you finally got your car back!! I have a stiff neck still from that fall I took the first day at Breckenridge, but otherwise, I’m OK. Thanks. Surely, the massage therapist will work out the kinks! My calves will be thankful, too.
Wendy :: I wasn’t reading the open thread while away, so I missed your initial post about Joey. I literally gasped out loud when I read it. I’m sorry to hear you are going through such a trying ordeal!! ((((HUGS))) Sounds like the little guy is doing better…Hopefully it was just a freak occurrence and he will be fine…Will put in a prayer to the man upstairs. I think it’s normal that you would feel totally spent from the entire situation, so please do not feel an ounce of guilt…your body needs to catch up on rest and recoup from the tremendous amount of stress you’ve been under. You are not the kind of cheetah who would stay down for long (none of the cheetahs are, really), so I know you’ll bounce back in no time. In the meantime, go with your body telling you to rest. Have fun in NY!
Sunny :: My fingers are crossed for you about the interview. True--sometimes folks on the inside have the advantage, but I think in this case, being seasoned might work in your favor. I used to work for the local Y when I was in college, and I remember all of the directors and assistants were in their 30s and up. Hope you can squeeze in a workout today.
Jess :: thanks for posting the pic! Sounds like a fun cheetah encounter!
Elaine :: good to see you! I have been thinking of you and hoping that you’re doing all right.
Marcia :: you’re too funny with your ongoing countdown to Mexico. A beach getaway sounds wonderful this time of year! How about BC? That is always a sweatfest!
Shelly :: hey there! I’m glad you’ll have three days off in a row. I don’t know how you do the night shift thing. Ooh, I see you’re another cheetah with an exciting getaway coming up! Have a great w/o today.
Laurie :: you sound like a very busy lady these days!
Judy :: your postcard arrived while I was away…thanks! It does look like a scenic running route. Nice!
Hi to Laura & anyone else stopping by later!
We had a fabulous day skiing at Vail on Wednesday, but in light of the storm that’s now hit Denver, we decided to curtail our trip and fly home a day early (Thursday evening instead of Friday evening). We spent the morning yesterday skiing Breck with steady snowfall coming down – it was gorgeous and the skiing conditions perfect!! I managed to only fall about 2-3 times during the entire trip, so I’ve made pretty good progress since last season. I did do a bang-up job on my thumb, though – on Wednesday, I took off my gloves as I carried my skis back to the car, and unknowingly, I sliced open the tip of my thumb (even down into the fingernail—yikes!) Didn’t realize it until I saw my hand covered in blood. Ick. But it’s healing pretty nicely.
Anywho, today will be a rest day, for sure! We hit the road Thursday at around 1 pm and spent six hours on nailbitingly treacherous roads…sharp inclines & declines, winding turns, heavy traffic, etc.…it reminded me of driving the coast of California – looking over the measly guardrail and seeing a whole lotta NOTHING down below! I wasn’t the driver, but man, I was sweatin’ it. We managed to get to the airport in time to catch our flight…but we were delayed on the ground almost 2 hours…first for de-icing and then a passenger was too ill to fly so we had to return to the gate, de-ice AGAIN, and refuel! We finally landed in Philly at about 4 am to find that half of our luggage stayed in Denver. Hopefully, my bag will arrive tonight!! I feel like I’m living the movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. *lol* What an adventure!! You’d think I woulda zonked out as soon as I came home, but it’s probably nerves keeping me awake awhile longer. I'm getting a bit bleary-eyed, though.
At any rate, the skiing was amazing, and I can’t wait to get back to Colorado. The East Coast is lookin’ mighty shabby now!
Have a great Friday, cheetahs! I'm sure I'll be back to check in & see what you all are up to. Will post some pics later, too.
