Since several of us have had strong hilly runs recently, I thought I'd tip my hat to that in the title.
Last night I walked in to find DH reading our Cheetah thread. WTH? He said, "I was bored while my pictures were uploading, and your thread was still open on Firefox." I guess it's just proof that Cathe and the Cheetahs are irresistable.
I told him I was glad that I hadn't posted anything about HIS birthday present (as one of you did a few weeks back), since it obviously was not safe to do so. His b-day is in Feb, so it's coming up.
Anyway, he read what I said about balancing strength training and cardio and told me about an article that he had read in M&F about a seasonal rotation through the year. There were essentially 4 training seasons to go with the 4 weather seasons: adding muscle, emphasizing cardio, leaning out, and a recovery/cross train/stretch season. I thought that was an interesting idea. The leaning down was put right before summer and swimsuit season, but otherwise I forget how they were timed. The basic idea was that there are various components to fitness, but not all of them can be targeted at once. I think I'm going to grab the article and read some more.
Today was a 4 mile run for me. My mid-week run is in some ways my toughest because it is not immediately preceded by a rest day, as my other two runs are. But it was a good solid run. Essentially I ran 2 miles downhill and then turned around and ran back up those same 2 miles. No HFH, but just steadily gaining ground the whole time.
BBL.
