Cheetahs Check-in for Sunday, April 1, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning, Cheetahs! Happy Palm Sunday to those who celebrate. Happy April Fool’s Day to everyone else. For those who are attending the Road Trip, can you believe that we will be working out together and enjoying our Sunday morning brunch 19 weeks from this morning? I am starting a new rotation this morning and decided to plan my workouts for 2 weeks at a time. Since recovery weeks do not work for me, I am returning to 5 days of Cathe workouts every week with a rest day and an active recovery day (a Kari Anderson or Christi Taylor hi-lo workout or some other form of gentle cardio plus a TLT) as well as running in the pool at the club a few nights a week. Mom and her husband are planning to spend Mother’s Day weekend with me. That gives me 40 days of super clean eating before they arrive so I can enjoy a few treats during my vacation with them. This is my general game plan for my Cathe Road Trip rotation:

Sunday morning - step or interval step (Cathe)
Monday morning - cardio plus lower body or lower body circuit (Cathe)
Tuesday morning - cardio plus upper body or upper body circuit (Cathe)
Wednesday morning - kickboxing (Cathe)
Thursday morning - total body circuit (Cathe)
Friday morning - rest
Saturday morning - hi-lo (Kari or Christi) plus functional fitness (Jen or Tracie)

It is time to flip your Cathe calendar again. I love the “Work, Work!” motto for this month. That is exactly what I need to do. March was not a good month for me. I finished my recovery week yesterday, and I am so ready to return to my beloved Cathe workouts this morning. My name is Heather. I am addicted to Cathe cardio. I have withdraws when I do not get my fix. Cathe can put me on permanent preorder.

By the way, I fasted chocolate and cheese for 40 days and did not drop a pound. I gained 4 pounds during my recovery week and gained an inch in my chest, an inch in my waist, an inch in my abdomen, and an inch in my hips. I enjoyed a few treats this past week, so my eating was not as clean as it has been. Feel free to give me a kick in the butt. It is not really necessary because I am good at falling on my butt and bouncing back again. The party is over. It is time to start training for the Cathe Road Trip. My weight and measurements have been recorded. A friend and I are getting together early this morning to take progress pictures before my morning workout.

This is the dawn of a new month. Spring has arrived, and bluebonnets are blanketing the beautiful Texas landscape. (I added a picture of bluebonnets to my avatar for everyone to enjoy!) I am ready to break free from this fat cocoon. Yes, it is time. Saddle up your horses and get ready for a great and glorious adventure. Come along if you dare! Let’s train hard this month! Some of us are training for the Road Trip, and all of us are training for life!

Blessings,
Heather B.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1 NIV).

Good morning cheetahs...(Happy April Fool's day)

heather- sounds like a good plan you have mapped out. so happy you made the RT.

shelly- show us your biker jacket. sounds fab!

wendy- how is the selling of your house going?

christine- you've got me seriously wanting puppies:)

jackie- i know what you mean re: stray dogs. i too am afraid of them. i've been bitten a couple of times.

yesterday i didn't run, i put together the bike trainer and did a spinervals workout! great to be able to spin in your home. you know it's funny i work in a gym and love it however i still prefer to workout at home.

I only have 2 more weeks until my cruise.....Hallelujah!! I have two more lbs to shed and then i will be at my target weight. i am thinking a 2 week BBC rotation starting today.

have a great day all!

Good Morning Cheetahs.:)

Man did I end up being sore y'day and I am still a bit sore this morning as well! I think friday's work out caught up with me and my run only added to it! I love DOMS though so I'm not complaining!;)

I ate like heck y'day at the party I went to. I was drinking Sangria and eating garbage all afternoon. Today I am going to a Palm Sunday dinner and the menu will no doubt be just as EVIL! LOL The timing is awful cause I just regained control of my weight and my eating after a bad week or so and now this! ACK! I need someone to please sew my mouth shut!;) :7

So I finally got back into PT EXAM mode the other day. I have gone through all of the multi choice questions. I now only have about 20 questions left to answer that I had skipped over the first time through cause the answers were more difficult to find. I have answered 2 out of 3 of the essay questions as well. I need to "fine-tune" the ones I answered but I am so happy to be almost done with that part as well! I was having real anxiety over it and it feels good to know I have made some head-way. I have started thinking about the practical...I have decided to go the video route (as opposed to pictures) and my SIL (a PT!) has so graciously agreed to act as my client in the video so I will be "training" her for the practical portion using the exercises laid out in the exam. I will feel really stupid but it will probably also be kind of fun.:D I can't believe I am actually ALMOST done! :+

Okay, now that I've written a book I gotta get going but I'll be back later for personals! Sorry I never got to them last night!

Toodles!:+

OH nooooo, i just went to the sparkpeople website and they now have fitness videos. I looked at a couple of the jump rope ones and they are looking pretty tempting}( ;) :p

wendy- you are almost there!!! good luck:D can't wait for you to join me in the world of pt's.

SunnyD-----DO NOT say another word about new exercise videos! LOL I do not need anymore persuasion into any new purchases! LOL. BUT...a jump rope one sounds FUN and HARD all at the same time!

Wendy-I'd like to hear more info about the at-home program you're using for the PT testing and certification. When you get a chance. LOVE DOMS! LOL

Heather----Your plan sounds on target. 19 weeks. WOW. Doesn't sound so far away, does it. Compare it to a 20 week marathon training schedule, and that's what you've got......wonderful workouts with a few rest days thrown in! LET's ROCK APRIL!!! Oh, and I'm a Cardio Junkie as well. I'd do it 10 days a week...if only there WERE a 10 day week LOL.

OK....here's to hoping there are no serious scary April Fool's jokes played on any of us today. LOL

I forgot to mention that at Friday's weigh in, I was down 1.8. That puts me 3 away from my firs mini goal and my first reward....a new iTread workout (although I bought an iCycle last week using the free code, I swore to myself I wouldn't USE it till I hit that first goal, so I'm okay with that).

This morning I put in my 10 mile long run. On the treadmill. I had actually planned on doing it outside (arranged for a sitter for the kids this AM), but the rain always makes me run indoors. So I cancelled the sitter early and hopped on board the TM. Did 4 with slowly increasing speed while watching the news, then I plugged in with iTread 8 and finished at almost 10.75 miles.

Yesterday younger DS and I moved some things around the house; donated a couch to the front lawn marked FREE and off it went in 10 minutes LOL. Today is pretty much the same. DFiance is coming over after lunch with his kids and maybe we'll get ready to color Easter Eggs tomorrow.

OK.....endorphins are pumping, as you can tell! LOL BBL

good Morning Cheetahs,

Heather, I love Cathe cardio too. I try other instructors but keep going back to Cathe. It's neat you get to go on the road trip. How exciting.

Wendy, glad you are almost done with your PT exam. Can you take as long as you want to finish? I bet you will have fun doing the video.

Sunny, I've looked at jump rope videos also. The look like a good workout if you can stay jumping that long. It's neat you have a trainer in you home. I have one too. I like cardio coach a lot. I've never tried Spinervals.

Today is my rest day. I did get my tempo run in yesterday. It was only 4 miles. Is that normal or is it suppose to be more?

Have a nice day.

Good morning cheetahs

Heather...sounds like a good rotation. Only 19 weeks away!!! I need to kick my own self in the butt as my eating yesterday was bad. This will have to be the start of a much better month. Thanks for the push...:)

Sunny...how exciting! Where are you going on the cruise?...congrats on getting to your goal weight.

Wendy...must be some bad eating going around. I will try better today...one day at a time...:)...Good job getting thru the PT testing. Do you plan on being a trainer?

Gayle..congrats on the weight loss. I don't mind running in the rain, unless of course there is also wind. Good job with the 10.75 miles on the TM.

This is the 1st day my piriformis has not felt sore! I am planning on 6 miles near the Sacramento River. After using the foam roller...

Have a great day...:)

Gayle- it's so bad, we are all a bunch of enablers, lol;) enjoy your lunch date!

carole- yay, no pain!! i know you are going to do a kickbutt workout today:) we are cruisin' to cozumel, grand caymans and key west. we leave from charleston, sc and since we live in nc, it's only a 4 hr drive.

karen-enjoy your rest day! i have cc's but so far i've only used them for the TM.

BBL...

I must have posted at the same time as Carole and Gayle.

Carole, I am glad you have no pain today. It sounds like a nice run you have planned for today.

Gayle, great job on your 10.75 mile run. I don't know if I could run that long on a treadmill. I don't have one either so I won't be trying it.

Sunny....sounds like a very fun cruise. I hope you can share some pics....it is great to have no pain there!! thanks

Karen...thanks...:)...I am not sure I could run that long on a TM either....but in Calif we have nice weather most of the time...

Good morning everyone!

Carole - Thanks for the tip on the dogs. I did tell the big ones to go away and they did just that. What a relief. Glad you have no pain today.

Heather - Your plans sound good to take it two weeks at a time. That should keep you from having the symptoms of a full recovery week. Sorry you didn't see any progress from your fast. Good luck with the next 19 weeks. You can do it!

Sunny - How are the allergies today? Keeping my fingers crossed that you will get to your target weight.

Wendy - I was right there with you eating junk yesterday. It's back to good eating today. Didn't realize you were studying to be a PT. Bet you will make a great one. Glad you're almost done. Good luck with that.

Gayle - Congrats on the 1.8 pounds! You do deserve a reward. Good job on the 10 miles on the treadmill.

Karen - Good job on your run yesterday.

Rest day for me. Rain got here about 2 yesterday and lasted into the night. But, it's a beautiful day today. What a way to start April. Gotta get ready for church.

Enjoy your day!

Jackie

Hey, guys! Back for a quick second.

Carole-I've got a freestyle question for ya! I'm thinking fo combining Cathe's April rotation and the last 4 weeks of my training program for this half....freestyle style. lol. I guess what I'm asking is...do you think that all these runs, along with lower weights for the GS Legs nad PLB that Cathe calls for in the rotation, and some extras thrown in (like my beloved reverse lunges, walking lunges and my leg weight attachment for leg curls and leg extensions) would 'qualify' as freestyle??? Am I making any sense? lol

As for the treadmill. Well, for whatever reason, I don't find the longer distances to be too bad on the TM. lol Call me weird, but I've never really had a mental problem with running such longer distances. Now with the addition of iTread.....OFF I go! LOL

Hvaing said that, I'm now planning on taking more of my weekly runs outside.....on the nights that DFiance stays here I will head out at like 4:30 or 5:00 before he leaves for work.

ok....DS is calling and my mom is heading over here now. Must go.

Gayle

Good morning cheetahs! I think my buns have recovered now from Friday's workout and I'm ready for my long run. Heading out the door soon for a hilly 12 miler:) It'll definitely make me ready for my nap this afternoon since I go in for work tonight. I had a wonderful fun motorcycle ride with DH yesterday. I was on the main road up to 55mph for quite a bit and then we went off and explored all sorts of neat dirt trails :7 (Our bikes are dual-purpose)

Hether- Sounds like an awesome rotation you have cooked up:) I love your attitude and your posts are always so fun to read.

SunnyD- I realize I forgot to post to you yesterday:eek: I'm so sorry you had to opt out of your 5k. It was certainly understandable though. Sounds like you got hit bad with allergies :( With that in mind, it's a good idea to stick with indoor exercising for a bit.
Broke in the new trainer today? wooohoo:7

Wendy- How exciting that you are almost done with your PT exam!!!
I can forsee the clients lining up already... you'll be terrific!!
Parties can be hard to deal with in terms of overindulging. I've heard it can help to always keep a drink in your hand, keep you hands occupied in other words. If you focus on drinking liquids it may help you feel fuller also.

Gayle- Congrats on your weigh in success, although it came as no surprise to me considering how hard you've been training. I'm in awe of your ability to go for long runs on your TM. I've only had to do that a couple of times due to bad weather... not fun!

Carole- Running pain free now.... :7 :7 :7 :7 I've also had some issues with a stubborn piriformis syndrome that wouldn't go away completely. The foam roller has finally made that history! I bet today's run will be heaven for you!

Karen- For a tempo run to be effective you should have a sustained pace for a minimum of 20 minutes, working your way up to 30 minutes, then 40. With a warm up and cool down I'd say that 4 miles was probably a fine distance for you. Good job!!!

Jackie- Hiya! Hope you have a terrific and fun rest day!

Last night I downloaded a bunch of new songs on my iPod. The road is calling..... later!

ShellyC

Good morning Cheetahs!

Heather - That looks like a great rotation and plan! You sound really determined! I love your description of the new month...and the flowers! Thanks for the inspiration!

Sunny - Woohoo! The cruise is getting closer and closer! I am afraid that if I joined a gym....I would rather be at home ...working out to my videos and on all of my equipment, too! No driving to the gym and no having to bother with what I look like :)

Wendy - thanks for the review of the iTread! Sounds tough! The inclines get me everytime!! Which certification exam are you taking? And where did you order it from?

Gail - Great job on the 10 miler! Since it is warming up, I plan to go outside more often, too. I don't find the treadmill to be as daunting as it used to be, either, though! Especially since iTread, Cardio Coach and BBC!
You go girl!

Carole - Yay! Glad you had no soreness! That is great! Enjoy your run today! And "roll" and "roll"!!
I would have had a heart attack on the spot...if I would have run into a bear!

Karen - Enjoy your rest day! Good job on the tempo run! The tempo runs don't "have to be longer"! I think that sounds good!

Jackie - enjoy your rest day! We got rain yesterday, too. It also rained overnight....but now it is beautiful and sunny!

Shelly - We want a picture of the biker jacket! Glad you enjoyed the ride! Sounds like fun! Great job on the workouts! I don't know if I would still be walking!
Enjoy the 12 miler!

Christine - Awww! I hope one of the little grinning pups are still available! They were so cute! I hope DH is doing better now!

Yesterday I ended up running outside for 5 miles and I did HHA Total Body Burn.

Okay.....today I started P90X. Let's hope I stick to it! I did C&B but I also did Seasun's Bosu Blast with Core and Abs for cardio. Today was supposed to be my long run....but it was pouring the rain this morning and I decided to just make the run on Tuesday. But...I will have to use the treadmill Tuesday instead of going outside.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Linda

Hi Cheetahs-

This Cheetah just cannot post consistently, but I will get here when I can! This morning I had a minute or two to read, but had to hop to my WO before the day got away. Yesterday, I didn't even get to read the forums!

Friday I ran 6 plus miles with friends and kept my own pace. I felt some knee twinges at about 53 minutes and decided to walk at 60 minutes to be safe. I think I need to reexamine my technique. Picking up my feet doesn't seem to be getting done quite right. At least the knee pain didn't last.

I need to get more consistent with the foam roller.

Happy Sunday to all of you!!!

Judy "Likes2bfit"

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Jackie...glad those big dogs obeyed! Thanks...the run was alot less painful. Enjoy your rest day and church.

Gayle...as long as you work the legs 4-6 days a week with lighter weights and higher reps you would be Freestyling..:)...so GS Legs and PLB would qualify.

Shelly...I hope your 12 miler goes well. Sounds like an awesome ride with your DH. Yes, my run today was very nice and mostly pain free! I sent you an email about when you were going to Philly. Susan and I are thinking of getting there Thursday? What do you think....:)

Linda...we had seen those bear tracks about the whole run so it was kinda inevitable we would run into him. I was (for the first time in my life) speechless when I came up on him. And trust me he looked HUGE running up that hill...Good job on starting P90X. C&B was about my least favorite workout from that series but S&A is awesome..:)

Judy...so glad the knee pain didn't last!

The 6 miles went well today. Now for some decluttering outside as my DH is out fishing...:)

Hi everyone!!! I had a wonderful long run and took it at a relaxed
10:20 pace, gave the old legs a break;-) These hills don't allow for much speed anyway. Just finished a post run foam roller massage. whew... I'm ready for a nice long nap now!

Carole- I just checked my inbox and didn't see anything:( I actually already got my plane reservations and am coming in Friday.
HOWEVER, that being said if you and Susan are coming in Thursday I would LOVE the chance to do an early get together! So if that's what you wanna do I'll check about changing my reservations.
I knew the run would go well for you today :7 :7

Linda- Yesterday I forgot the camerax( But the weather will stay beautiful all week so I'll be gearing up for biking again soon! I really look like a hoot :) So you have entered the land of p90x?
What do you think of Tony? Some people are really turned off by his goofiness but I get a kick out of him. Sorry you got rained out of your long run today!

Judy- It's wonderful to hear from you whenever you have the time to post:7 :7 I'd say that getting in a 6 mile run with only a few twinges is a MAJOR improvement over where you were before. From what I understand it can take quite a while to get that technique down so that it is second nature. But, I think you are well on your way there.

Time to go catch some zzzzzzz

ShellyC

Hey ladies,

back to report- i did BBC's chest and abs plus the TM cardio. felt like i was gonna puke during the TM part:D }( . so very intense. i don't think my TM goes as high as he said but i pushed it hard today. gotta burn off my weekend indulges:7 .

linda- have fun with p90x. c&b is not my favorite workout of the bunch but i love the rest of 'em.

carole- glad you had a nice run! i need to finish decluttering our garage but it can wait;)

shelly-enjoy your nap!!

I agree with you guys on C&B! That is also my least favorite! I would like to be able to do their cardio, but I really want to keep up my running and don't want to give up my Cathe cardio.

Carole - I loved S&A's too! I really did like the L&B workout, too. Great job on the 6 miles!

Shelly - Tony doesn't bother me. He cracks me up at the least expected times :) In YogaX, I remember there were quite a few things that he said that used to make me start laughing. Great job on the run!

Judy - Good to hear from you! Hope you guys are doing okay! Sorry about the twinges! But good job on the run and walk! I think the foam roller does wonders! I try to be consistent with it, too....but sometimes I just forget to do it :-( then the pain comes back...and I remember! :+

Sunny - LOL...I hear ya on the TM portion! It makes me feel like that, too! Great job on the workout!

Have a great rest of the day!

Linda
