Cheetahs Check-in for Sunday, April 1, 2007

Good afternoon Cheetahs! Just a quick post today. DD is trying to keep me company so this hinders my typing. Today is a beautiful day. It is around 75 degrees and very sunny. This morning started out with hard rain so instead of mass beginning outside, a tradition for Palm Sunday, we had to remain indoors. It was still a nice service though. DS had a good time when the palms were being blessed.

Anyway, I was able to get in my long run. I opted for running on the TM because my legs were sore from Fridays run. In any case, I did get in my 9 miler. I'm in new territory these days. My runs have never been this long before. Only 4 more weeks until my HM. This month will be over before I know it.

Sorry there is no time for personals. Hopefully, I will be able to do some tomorrow. Have a great Sunday!!

Hey there Cheetah Babes!

Did a 5 mile trail run with a nice elevation gain this morning – about 1500 feet in 2.5 miles. It’s a wonderful up and then down run with some great fast single track that you can race over. It’s one of my favorite trails – through the redwoods with gorgeous views into the Valley and over the Bay.

DD14’s musical was fabulous! They have one kid who had the lead and stole the show – he’s such a great actor. But there were several good actors and it was just a fun time. DD14 did wonderfully, too! She told me that she wanted a lead role next year. Great to have aspirations! She’s at the cast party right now after helping the gang tear down the set.

Heather – Happy Palm Sunday to you, too. Sounds like you have a great workout plan! Why does a recovery week work for you? I find my recovery weeks a bit tougher than my others as I’m doing such different stuff, but I enjoy them.

Sunny – Whenever you get the urge for a puppy, just picture your house after a rambunctious dog runs through it chewing everything, and the urge will go away. Well, for most people. Not me. :p Your cruise sounds heavenly!!! I’m so jealous! I’ve been thinking of jumping rope, too – it’s fabulous exercise. I may have to cave…

Wendy – Ever feel that the world is against your good eating habits? I think of life as a challenging dance between what we know we should do and what we really want to do. WAY TO GO with being almost done with the PT exam!! You’ll rock as a PT!

Gayle – you have SUCH will power? You still haven’t used that iCycle yet? I’m impressed. And GREAT JOB on being so close to goal!

Carole – I’m so glad to hear you’re getting so much closer to recovery! You’ve been a wonderful example of how to recover. Thanks!

Karen – I do tempo runs of 4 or 5 miles. Anything more and my legs are toast. Anything less and it doesn’t feel right.

Jackie – enjoy your rest day. I’m glad Carole’s advice worked for you! I find it usually does as long as you are confident and act like a boss dog.

Shelly – sounds like a really wonderful day you had yesterday! I know you’re careful and don’t do the crazy things the kids do around here on the twisty mountain roads, but I saw another accident this morning after our hike, so I worry. Such a mom, I know! Great job on the run! I must get me one of those foam rollers!

Linda – no word yet. She’s at a dog show this weekend, so I probably won’t hear until tomorrow. DH is very ready (or he’s tired of me talking about it all the time). We’ll see. Did you enjoy P90X? Good luck with the rotation! It sounds like a great time.

Kristi – Ah, a nice Catholic girl with Mass and everything. Sounds nice though. That was always my favorite part – the blessing of the palms. Good job on your run! Doesn’t that make you feel incredible to run further than you ever have?! Sounds like you’re right on target for a wonderful half!

Have a great evening everyone!

Shelly - Glad the buns recovered. Good job on the 12 miles. I slept well last night and really enjoyed my rest day. Legs feel good too. Tony doesn't bother me at all either. I think he's crazy sometimes but that's it.

Linda - Hope you can make it through P90X. Don't know when I'll do an entire rotation again. Love Seasun's Bosu Blast. Thought the steps were easy to catch on. Sorry the rain spoiled your run.

Judy - Post when you can. Always good to see how everyone's doing. How are the knees? Better?

Carole - Glad the run went well. You're improving.

Sunny - Glad you survived BBC.

Kristi - Glad you enjoyed Palm service in spite of the rain. You're doing great with your running and racking up the miles. Think you will be ready for the HM.

I had chaffing on my arms yesterday from my Zen on one and just skin on skin on the other. What do you do for this? First time I've had the chaffing running outside. It's also the first time this year I got to go sleeveless. I'll probably wear the Zen on my waist the next time but I don't want to have to wear sleeves for my long runs.

Have a good night everyone!

Jackie

Christine - We were posting at the same time. That trail run sounds great. Glad you enjoyed it. I'll try to remember to act like a boss dog. LOL!! That's one of the reasons I don't like running outside. At least, at the park, other people are around.
