RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, everyone~

Wendi :: hope you enjoyed your run. Thank you re: the 20. 'Preciate the support!

Wendy :: great job with a tough 13. Hope you enjoyed your day off otherwise.

Christine :: it is, and I can't wait! The father of one of my students has run Chicago, and he jotted down a few tips for us on where to eat, where to view, etc. No, it's not just you--the election is played out for me, too.

Carole :: glad you were able to get a night of solid zzz's...nice to see some fall-like weather rollin' in.

Linda :: That's exactly it on the shorter runs now--"it's over already? I just got started." I am getting excited, too, for both of us. Wish we were running together!

Judy :: Count me in the Magic Eraser Fan Club. My favorite distance has always been in the 3-6 range, so nothing untoward was meant by using the word ridiculous. :) :) :) As Linda said, it just feels like it's over too soon, and I'm gettin' off easy.

Jackie :: I saw a little puppy runnin' loose during the last long run. There wasn't much traffic in the early morning hours, but I was worried the little guy was going to get hit the way he was darting around. I carry pepper spray, too, and would not hesitate to use it if I were attacked, but I wonder if it really would deter a larger dog?...Glad all your files are now where you need them. That's interesting about the tax. What do you think of that system?

Dallas :: glad everything's been fixed from the garage mishap and that MIL is doing all right. Yes, I do a variation on Galloway's run/walk program. Run a mile/walk a min. starting already at mile 1. The Cytomax is still my drink of choice. The hand-held is working out great. I'm back to the school routine with no problems, but as you know, it's a hectic time for the first few weeks. All day is on the run between lost kids, stuck lockers, a new gradebook system this year, meetings, and paperwork, paperwork, paperwork out the wazoo!

Gloria :: I hear you. Totally "get" your comments. I don't mind sharing--and would love to pick your brain--I will when I have more time. My classes are good; some are on the large side. Overall, I have about 100 students. Great job gettin' in the workouts.

I took another rest day yesterday evening. I don't know why, but I seem to be getting plagued with headaches these days. It was sort of a downplayed migraine, but I just wasn't up for slogging through a circuit. Went to bed early. I hope it is not a precursor that another one's coming. Anyway, I'm up early, so I can get to it this morning. Later this evening will be a run + WP.

Off to go sweat...

Cathy: Hope you have some good workouts today. I have no obligations this weekend so I am really looking forward to resting. So far I am doing well getting the papers checked and passed back in a timely fashion. I have been bad at that in the past. The piles can be a bit overwhelming. Share when you have time. :)

I have no idea what I will do this morning. Better go and try to figure it out. Hope all have a nice day! :)

Gloria :: it is easy to fall behind with the papers...I try to stagger collection, so I'm not saddled with 100 at once, but while I was in grad school and then working on NBs last year, I would get seriously backed up at times. I am gonna do my best to avoid that this year. Right now most of the paperwork is just the forms (for students and teachers) that we have to take care of yearly. Oh, the joy of homeroom! :) Will definitely have to talk shop some this weekend! :) Enjoy your workout, whatever you do.

Did an EXT/BM2 u/b circuit. Feelin' good.

Morning,

Trying to wake up before I start the workout. Today, will be a treadmill run & 4D-shoulders, biceps and triceps.

Cathy ~ Did I read that correctly...3:20A!!!?! Yikes! I can see why you have to go to bed so early! I like the flag emoticon. I can't believe it's been 7 years already. Hope the headache doesn't turn into anything. Sorry this keeps happening to you. :( Has this happened before (a stretch of headaches/migraines)? Still have to check out your blog. I'm hoping to later.

Gloria ~ Glad you got a better class this year. Sounds like you're off to a great start. :) Enjoy whatever workout you decide to do.

Well, better get started.

Oh my poor, poor legs! :p

Mornin' Girlies. :)

Yeah...I'm a leetle bit sore from y'day's run! Great day for an upper body work out, wouldn't ya say? ;)

Christine: ITA about the election. I end up feeling the same way every time...get it over with already, will ya?

Carole: Glad you got into IntervalX once you started. It's a good work out. I may be starting an X rotation soon. I just have to decide between the orginal and X+. :)

Linda: Panicky is a good way to describe it. I don't have any more "wiggle room" with my training. It's down to the wire for me since I started late. My own fault perhaps but I still wish I could make the rest of the world disappear until after the race is over!:p

Judy: Magic eraser is wonderful. I haven't bought one in ages for whatever reason but they work really well. I'm going to have to pick up a couple now...:) Glad you enjoyed yoga. I had to miss my class in order to get my run in y'day. :(

Jackie: Irresponsible dog owners burn me up. My dog would chase you and bark too but if he caught ya he'd jump on ya and lick ya to death! :D Problem is you can never be too sure what a dog is thinking when he's coming at you.

Dallas: I don't feel guilty doing my long runs on weekends. If I didn't take time to do things like that, DH would barely spend any time alone with DS and he needs to. Being able to do it and come home to an empty/quiet house WAS nice though...I must admit. :)

Karen: Thanks re my run y'day. Good job on your run as well. So what was for dinner last night? :)

Gloria: ME will get ya every time! LOL

Cathy: Sorry about the reoccuring heache/migraine issues. I hope it doesn't continue. I don't blame you for resting y'day. Your work out plan today sounds like a Shelly plan!:D

Okay, I think that catches me up on the personals front.

I'm workin' this morning and then I'm gonna see if I can squeeze in a quick food shopping excursion before picking DS up from school. I'm getting out at 11:30 but DS is getting out early too-12:50. So it will be a race against the clock. I guess the WORST case is that I leave the groceries in the car while I pick him up. It only takes a couple of minutes and it's actually on the way home from the foodstore pretty much.

Today's work out plan is the rest of CTX upper body: Chest/Shoulders/Triceps plus abs.

Time to get DS up now...BBL!

Good Morning Lovely Cheetah Ladies!

*Bows head in remembrance of the victims of 9/11*

Carole – I love my Magic Eraser, too. Got one as part of that bridal gift for my coworker and SHE loves it! I’m tired of the nasty of the elections too.

Linda – ITA that it’s like voting for your high school class president! Unfortunately, I feel I should pay attention, after all who ever is elected will determine how my next 4 years go! *sighs*

Jackie – You’d give me some competition on the bike, who do you think you’re fooling girl? *winks* I like Lance, too. I LOL’d at your comment on how you are looking forward to all of the gossip being around the likes of Brittany, Paris…. Never thought I’d agree with that!

Hey Dallas!! Good to see you! Glad the car and garage are being fixed. Seriously, girl – you glance behind to make sure the door is really opened. You don’t sit there and study how high up it is! I would have run into the door, too. I like how you used Rumble as a warm up. That sounds like a good plan. May have to adopt it after next week.

Wendy – Congrats on the 13 miles!!! Next week’s run will be better. Enjoy your UB workout! Perfect day for it! Have fun shopping.

Karen – glad it’s cooler for you! How’s your mom doing?

Gloria – I can definitely see that going back to teaching after a summer off would be like training for an event. Have Mercy was fun – I haven’t done a good totally interval workout like that for a while and I really enjoyed it. Oh, the mock election sounds fun. I like how it really gets the kids into understanding the process and perhaps some of the issues.

Cathy – ooh, hope the headaches calm down! Perhaps it’s the change of seasons. Fall always gave me headaches on the east coast. As we don’t really get much of a change here in Cali, it’s not as bad. Oh how fun that we have tips and stuff! We’ll also have Dallas with us! And I’ve been to Chicago as well. We’ll have a lot of great options. This photo was posted on my cycling forum – from the Lake Trail. You probably won’t run this far, but it’s a nice photo - http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=26518

Okay, I’m fried. I have a big ride coming up on Saturday, so I’m taking a rest day except for riding in to work, which will be 4 miles on the bike (if I have to ride home over lunch, I’ll drive back). I made the best darned chili last night, and unfortunately it was one of those “toss a bit of this, toss a bit of that” into it, so I don’t have a real recipe. I hope I can remember most of it! But I happy to be able to take some in for lunch! :D Not sure if I told everyone, but the “BIG” ride I’ve decided on this year is a 55 miler (4,160 feet of climbing!) – Tour For Woodside (www.tourforwoodside.com). I’m riding it with DD15’s BF. I’m doing the training ride with him this weekend. It should be a pretty ride, but it’s 30 miles UP and 10 miles down. I know that means it’s a more gentle grade up, but I’m feeling cheated. ;) That will be interesting. It’s next Sunday (the 21st). I'll do my century next year. No hurry. Well, they do have a century, but it's 8600 feet of climbing, and that's a big OUCH!!!! Have a great day all!

HI Cheetahs-

I just finished AOS Newport. I feel accomplished especially after doing the 5 minute snatch test.

Cathy- thank you for the flag with the 9.11 on it. My flag pin which is always on what ever coat I am wearing broke off last week. I intend to get another one today. I saw a report about the memorial to the pentagon workers who perished on 9.11 and it got me all teary.... Did you control the headache early enough?

Gloria- What grade do you have this year?

Wendy- Not all runs are great, good going on getting it done while not feeling great at mile 8 with 5 plus to go! I am on a mission to get my errands done also before pickingup DS myself. In fact I've gotta get a move on.

Hi Dallas:), and Carole:) and Karen:) and Wendi:)and Jackie:) and Christine:)

Shelly- Are you on your last night yet?

Last night DS21 called asked for a cookie package. I made some chocolate chip cookies to mail to him and some for DH and DS15 to take to Detroit this weekend for hockey. I am staying home this weekend with DD17. I love being home:rolleyes:, but I really do not :confused:like to miss DS's games.

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...After reading about that guy letting his dog lunge at you, I remember a lady that had no problem letting her Great Dane chase me! Crap, I think we were the same height!! I used to yell at the lady "could you please call off your dog". Great Danes are fairly docile but it still scared me. Thankfully they have moved. I have so enjoyed the cooler temps. Sorry about the headaches...a rest day was probably a good idea. Enjoy your run and WP workout later.

Dallas...glad the SUV and garage are fixed. Yes, I started a 3 week rotation of the 4DS weight workouts this week. That is good news things are going well for your MIL. Have fun with the TM run and 4DS workout today.

Wendy...way to go getting in the long run!! So you think you might start an X or X+ rotation soon? I was thinking myself of a 4 week X rotation after 4DS. Enjoy your CTX upper and ab workout.

Gloria...it seems my Mom looks better every time I visit her. She is definitely in a better mood and has not even complained about therapy yet...:). I have not taken any pics of Beau lately. I should have the other night when I was filling his pool. He was in it dancing around chasing his tail! He sure knows how to make me laugh...:D..ME upper is a tough workout, I can see why you are sore.

Christine...those Magic erasers are for sure a timesaver and work great. Those seem to be the best meals when you throw in a bit of this and that! How cool you are doing the 55 miler with DD15 BF! 4160 ft of climbing sounds tough but 8600 ft of climbing does sounds brutal.

Jackie...that would be quite a blessing if my Mom quit smoking..:). Glad the Pest control took care of that cricket. That would drive me nuts!! Good job using heavy weights with the Firm workout.

Linda...It is interesting as I have often read what someone does here workout wise and then I want to do it. I am liking 4DS and will do it for 3 weeks. I didn't get as sore from C&B as I did from BT&S on Monday. Good job with 3.5 miles and the GS workout.

I saw my Mom yesterday and she looks good. I think things are progressing well. I am doing 4DS Leg weights and 40 min on my EXT.

Have a good day:)

Judy - I can imagine you would have mixed emotions about staying at home (which you enjoy) and missing your son's games. Tough choice. But do enjoy your time at home this weekend. Nice of you to send cookies! :)

Carole - Glad your mom is doing better and that things are progressing well! How wonderful! I know Great Danes are fairly docile, but there's always the odd one out, and they are HUGE! Definitely out-weight you! Wow. I would not want one of those chasing me, either. Well, I am contemplating doing the "Death Ride" next year - it depends on how well my training goes. That is 120 miles and 15,000 feet of climbing. Up 5 mountain passes (well 2.5 - because it's an up and back route). We'll see. I may decide that such torture is not for me.

Good morning Cheetahs!

Dallas - Understand being busy! Glad all is well with the SUV and the garage. Good job with the workouts! Thanks for the update on your MIL. Glad she's doing well.

Wendy - Good job on the long run no matter how you got it done. Now you can focus on the next one. You're so right on knowing what a dog is thinking. I have people say oh, he won't bite. Yeah, but he has the ability and the equipment to do it with. I'll bet it's nice to be able to shop alone for groceries. Enjoy your UB workout!

Karen - Glad you were able to get your run in. Temps aren't too bad here either.

Gloria - I'm not a touchy feely person either not even with my family. They all know their limitations with me. :D It's good the kids want to give you a hug. So, when's the next weight workout? ;) Good job with the run.

Cathy - A lot of our carriers say they don't have time to react when a big dog attacks. So, the pepper spray is useless for them. My boss did say on one of his cycling trips, he used his water bottled and squirted a dog. It surprised the dog enough for him to have time to get away. I don't think I could get away fast enough walking. Guess I'm so use to the tax system that it doesn't bother me. But, I'm happy that we don't have a state income tax even though some of the politicians keep pushing for it. May eventually happen. Sorry for the HA. Hope another one doesn't materialize.

Christine - Enjoy your rest day! How long is the ride Saturday? Glad you enjoyed that mish mosh of a chili you made. How exciting about the Big Ride! Bet you'll have some torturous fun! :p Do you and the BF train together? Nice goals in sight for the future.

Judy - Good job with AOS! Yum! Chocolate chip cookies! Glad you'll be able to enjoy some time at home this weekend but sorry you'll miss DS game.

Carole - Oh, yeah, a Great Dane is scary just seeing them. Reminds me of a horse. Glad Beau is still making you laugh. How's Sadie? Laughing at Beau too? :D Good to hear your mom is still making improvement. Enjoy your workout.

Today's workout was 30 minutes of iTread #3 40 minutes ( this one was fast and flat), iClimb #2 20 minutes and Yoga Zone Sunrise. Trying to increase my running to 4-5 days a week. Getting there.

Enjoy your day ladies! One more to go!

Christine...Thanks re: my Mom. It is nice to see her improving after her time in the hospital. That great Dane was a bit scary but I wanted to pepper spray the owner for letting him chase me and having no control over him!! OMG that "Death Ride" sounds crazy! Kinda like a 50K for runners!!

Jackie...LOL! Great Danes have always reminded me of a horse! Saide is doing good too. Ever since we got Beau she has wanted to play more with us. They get along well, but sometimes Beau is a bit rough and we keep an eye on that. Thanks re: my Mom. I went to 4 days of running about a month ago or so. It musta been good timing because it felt good and still does. Good job with the iTrain workouts.

Felt so good after my workout, I added on PUB sho, bi's and tri's. I had a client cancel so I don't go in until a bit later. I am going to get some sun and take it easy for a bit...:)

Hey everyone! Our network was down at work all morning long  I am just now able to post.

Cathy – I love your flag for 09-11. It is amazing that it has been that long ago. It still sends chills up my spine. I really do wish we could run our marathon together, too! Maybe next year (if we do another one ;) ) we can run it together! That would be so cool! I saw where you posted to Dallas that you do Run/Walk run 1 mile/walk minute. That is what we did on Sunday. I loved it! I hope she will want to do that at the marathon. We usually just run until we really need a walk break. I felt so much stronger and able to go longer doing it by running a mile and walking a minute. It helped me to run faster throughout, too. (at least it felt like it! )

Jackie – I like your boss’s idea of squirting the dog with his water bottle! I ordered me some Pepper Spray from Road Runner Sports. That was good! Good job on your iTread and iClimb!

Christine – I agree about it shaping our next 4 years! I just think the finger pointing, accusations of both parties, etc. is childish! But …that is politics and goes with the territory ;) Oh my goodness! The ride sounds wonderful! It also sounds very tough!!! It is great that you will have someone to do it with! The Century sounds veeeery tough!

Carole – LOL…that is funny. Glad it’s not just me! After this GS’s, I may do 4DS for a while  That is wonderful that your mom is looking better! Oh my gosh! I would probably have a heart attack if a Great Dane came chasing me! I have been meaning to tell you and I don’t think I ever did….but your black lab is absolutely beautiful! She looks so sweet! I think I was MIA when she joined your family.

Judy – Yummy! Will you bake me some chocolate chip cookies, too? ;) Good job on Newport!

Wendy – Enjoy your CTX workout! Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you trying to beat the clock! Hope your day goes well!

Dallas – Enjoy your run and 4DS! I agree…I cannot believe it has been 7 years. It seems like only yesterday. So sad. 

Gloria – Getting Pip up, etc. reminds me of me with Madison a couple of years ago  It makes it tough! Then it was in the dead of winter and I would have to stand out there with her freezing to death (she was so young I couldn’t leave her out by herself). She would just plop down in the snow and start chewing a stick, instead of doing her business. And I was trying to rush to get in to workout so I could get ready for work. I look back at that now and laugh. Good job on the ME the other day and 5 miles yesterday!

Last night I ran 4 miles and did GS BS&B and the abs from Firm Vol. I. I ran outside, inside of on the treadmill. It was only around 80 degrees and there was no humidity!

Hey to everyone!

Linda

Seems as if I"m having a hard time checking in and getting to personals with school starting. Today I got in a 5 mile run. Now I need to go clean my mom's bathroom and help her dye her hair. She passed a rather decent stone this afternoon but I'm sure there are more on the way. She is still in pain but at least we know the stones are on the move. Her other apt is Monday so until then we just keep our fingers crossed.

Sorry again about personals. I'm tying to get this all done before I have to take the girls to soccer. Dh is working on a big project at work so he won't be home until late. Hope you all are doing great and having wonderful workouts.

I'm considering doing another 5k Sept 27. It is right down the street from the hospital where my mom has been going. I really just want to get out of the house and doing the 5k falls on a day where I have an easy 3 mile run so why not.

Yeah for me dh is coming home early just to take the kids to soccer for me. So now onto personals while waiting on mom's hair.

Cathy- Maybe you have a sinus infection. Dh gets headaches all the time. When they get more frequent like your have been it means they are turning into a sinus infection. He never thinks it is one but it always turns out that way especially with the weather changes.

Wendy- Hope you got all the errands in. Dinner was so good last night and easy. Roast beef sliced down in the slow cooker on martins potato rolls.

Christine- I don't think you get how your biking blows my mind. I mean you ride like your going to the grocery store or something. I hope your family is as impressed as I am. If not send them to me.:D

Judy- Nice weekend home. I know it can be fun but sitting here I'm sad I'm going to miss practice even though I really need to.

Carole- Gald mom is doing better. Hope you enjoyed your workout today.

Jackie- Flat and fast is the way to go. Your doing awesome on your runs and milage.

Linda- Treadmill girl is my middle name. All my runs are on the TM. Last time I did a big race I never ran outside until the day of. I never can get out to do them. That is why I love running down the ocean this summer.

Hi to Dallas and Gloria.

Mom's hair is calling.

Good grief! I was just now in the middle of GS C&T and realized when I posted today that I said I did GSBS&B with my run last night. Wrong!!! Last night was B&Gs and a 4 mile run. Night before last was BS&B with my run.

Karen - Oh man, I definitely understand how hard it can be to always get here to check in! Don't worry about it, but stop in when you can!! Life gets crazy :) I know exactly what you mean about the treadmill! I want to get outside so much more than I get to. Thank goodness for the TM!

Gotta go finish C&T!!

Evening, cheetahs! :)

Dallas :: I usually wake up around 4. I believe you are an hour behind me, no?...The migraines are usually spaced out more, but they seem to be on the rise lately. Hope you enjoyed your run & 4DS.

Wendy :: got your tm--thanks! Too sweet. Will keep an eye peeled. Oh, guess what? Imax2/CW finally arrived yesterday!

Christine :: wow! What a view! That is so cool you're doing the ride with DD15's BF. :) *lol* about the "Death Ride." They sure know how to sell it. :) It sounds like an awesome challenge, though--right up your alley.

Judy :: our classroom TVs this morning broacast a memorial slideshow...those images get me choked every time...still looks almost surreal. I watched a program the other night about the Twin Towers' survivors...Talked about how so many of the firefighters' radios would not function within the building. They were called to come down but never heard the message. I also did not realize their equipment is 100 lbs.! Was both moving and sad...I didn't take anything for yesterday's headache. I really try to avoid taking anything when possible...Those snatch tests at the end are butt kickers, aren't they?...Bet those cookies disappear fast! Very kind of mom to come through.

Carole :: the dogs in pursuit are NOT funny as we all well know, but I had to chuckle at the Great Dane being the same height as you! My closest call was the Doberman in Germany who chased me. All I heard was, "Komm hier! Komm hier!" and the next thing I knew my hand was in the Doberman's mouth. *lol* The owner told me he was just playing. Yeah, right! My heart was in my throat...I'm glad things are going well with your mom. Love the memorial icon.

Jackie :: I figured as much with the big dogs. They are the ones that worry me. How do the hammies agree with your increased running?

Linda :: Ha! You made me sputter at the thought of us doing another! *lol* Posh and my mother apparently think this will NOT be my last, as I keep saying. I really enjoy Galloway's approach, and I think it definitely makes recovery time quicker. I hope your training partner is receptive to it.

Karen :: BTS time keeps us busy. Good job getting in 5 miles today. Don't worry about personals when you're swamped...Sorry your mom is in so much pain; I hope these remaining stones pass quickly for her...good point about the sinuses...Mine do act up regularly, and I've noticed a new side effect of the migraines is congestion. I'm so over it already. *lol*

Tonight, I ran 4.14 and followed with Winsor and BOSU abs.

Have a great night, all!

finished GS C&T and a 4 mile run. I am taking tomorrow off. I am pooped :(

Cathy - LOL....yup me too. I am very, very tired this week and I have to admit I am kind of wondering how the heck I got myself into this. Some days I feel great about it and some days I just don't know :( Good job on your 4.14 miles and WP, and abs!

Night everyone....gonna go to bed!

Cath: Collecting the forms is not a huge responsibility for me. After today, I have a small, manageable pile. I am just so tired I can't even manage to grade them tonight. It will have to wait until the weekend. The latest I allow myself to stay up is 10. Right after lunch I teach language arts and we are dictated by what we have to do. I chose to differentiate and break the kids into three groups. Those that can read alone, partner read, and teacher directed reading. I am embarassed to admit that with my group I felt like I was going to fall asleep. Really. My eyes were heavy. NOT because of the kids, I am just so tired. We were summarizing, discussing the vocabulary, etc. I told my group at that time that we just needed to have a break and we got up and stretched, etc. Thank goodness we only had 5 min. untill recess at that point. I had recess duty today, so I really enjoyed the fresh air to rejuvinate and the math lesson after went really well. It is always good after you teach the lesson and the kids say the assignment is easy. ;) Great getting in the run!

Dallas: I am off to a good start. I just want to keep it that way. :)

Christine: The mock election will be really neat. I haven't even decided who I will vote for. My union has endorsed a candidate, but I am just not so sure. Did I tell you I overinflated my bike tire? It popped. I followed the directions!!!! Oh well. I feel absolutely fried too. Good thing tomorrow is TGIF!

Judy: I am teaching fifth grade again this year. Your kids will be in my home state! I bet you love the KB's!

Carole: I am happy to hear mom is doing well. Pip likes to do a little dance around her food bowl when I feed her. I can imagine Beau doing his thing. Yeah, it hurts to take the jammies off and get in the shower after ME!

Jackie: I am not the typical teacher. I do not have kids, nor want them. I am not a touchy feely person either. But, I LOVE kids. There are two other teachers in my school who are fantastic and they are just like me. The kids are just real people, notice every move you make, etc. I just love them for their idealism. They all have it, evey year. I wish I could be like that again. Anyway, you are getting there with the running.

Linda: I have already thought about the winter and am not looking forward to it. Only 80! That is hot for me. Thanks re: the workouts!

Karen: Are you a cosmetologist too? That is what my youngest sister does for a living. Speeking of which, I really need a haircut.

I am tired. I only did the BC lower body and cardio this morning. I included the core. I am already hurting. It hurts to change into my jammies. I have 45 min. before I HAVE to be in bed and I am going to go and relax. Good night!
