:::CHEETAHS::: 1/24, Wed

Cathy- where are you this morning?

wendy- it's the co.'s policy to let people go when they give their resignation. there is a big competitor literally right around the corner from them. they always think people leave to go work for the other co. i could care less what they think. i am beside myself to be out of there sooner than i thought. i had the interview with the other gym last night and don't believe i will take the position. it's taking over a gym which i want but it's significantly less money then i am making now in a half hr.plus i would have to both dh's in daycare.

laurie- glad to hear you had fun with CF. i have yet to try that one. maybe now i will have time!

shelly- i wish i were a lady of leisure. the gym has just been packing on the clients. a good thing! plus fri will be baby ds's last day in daycare so i will have him with me all day. trust me that's a full time gig

judy- you are so right. i was disappointed a bit

barb- you always have the best advice. glad to see you posting again!

kristi- i believe it's in our nature as women to take on more responsibility and allow our dh's (OR SO's) to not really pull their weight (IMO). trust me, we've had many discussions about the very same thing. however since i've been working two jobs dh has totally stepped up to the plate with the house, kids & everything. i haven't even had to ask him to do anything. since i wasn't there just doing it he did what needed to be done. Thank God for that man

susan- i hope you get rid of the gunk. congrats on cleaning up your diet. i've been doing great since dh booked the cruise..lol

karen- i love MD. i used to travel there alot for work.

marcia- i just knew someone would post at the same time i did this morning. so i just transferred mine to yours.

today's workout is legs either at the gym or home and some abs.

have a great day ladies. i should be able to check back in later!!

Wakey......wakey........CHEETAHS!

How's everyone doing this morning? I can't believe I'm the first to start this morning. I have slight DOMS from SH chest and back last night. It felt good - haven't done that one in a while.

Tonight is focus on abs, but I'm going to grab some time on the elliptical, too. I have weigh-in at Weight Watchers, so keep your fingers crossed, I've been good all week so I hope I'm not disappointed.

Take care, Marcia.

Hey, cheetahs~ :)

Good morning, Marcia & Sunny, and all who follow. I knocked out early last night and am home sick today, but my internal alarm clock is still working.

Catching up w/ yesterday’s posts (so many!)…

Barb ::: Great job getting out there in the cold & dark! You rock!!…Oh! Thanks for the explanation on the calories…yes, that does make sense! I’ve been a little foggy the last couple of days...Yesterday, the only student who didn’t admit he plagiarized confessed in front of the whole class! Wow, was that tough. I’m proud of him for doing the right thing. My team leader wanted me to give them all zeros and send them to the office, but I insisted on giving them the opportunity to rewrite for half credit. I think it’s important to give them another chance to learn from this mistake NOW in 8th grade rather than later on in HS or college when the repercussions could be much more severe. It’s also a learning experience for me b/c it tells me that I need to do more work with my students about avoiding plagiarism. By the way, please PM or email me DH’s website info…I’d like to pitch in, too.

Marcia ::: Oh, believe you me :) ~ I do wash my hands as much as possible and keep an ample stock of anti-bacterial gels in the classroom for *everyone* to use, but the germs are still rampant. As a school employee, you KNOW what I’m talking about! :) This year seems to me to be worse than previous years. I feel like my body has been constantly under attack! The walking at lunch plan sounds great. I agree with Barb :: just being around the negativity is a drain. Since I switched to a new district, I have taken to eating lunch in my classroom – it’s much better that way. Hey, if I recall correctly, you were looking to obtain a new position within your school/district, right?…any word on that?

Wendy ::: How was last night’s stretch? Did your lats thank you for it? …Oh yeah, daycares & nurseries have gotta be worse for catching bugs. Kudos to you for having a strong immune system! I know when I first starting teaching, I was constantly sick the first year. I think it’s the combo of a whole lotta stress plus a whole lotta germs. I’d work out for 2-3 weeks, get sick and have to stop, and the vicious cycle would repeat itself all over again. It was a tough year. And ultimately, I wound up piling on some pounds…I’m like you in that I love to eat and if I don’t work out, I will gain…Re: the OCD, I think most of us here have a healthy obsession w/ fitness…It was unhealthy for me (years ago) when I was running through pain and getting seriously bummed or PO’d if I had to miss a run…From that, I learned to listen to my body better…And, too, now my life is so crazy-busy at times (more so than it used to be) that flexibility is a must. Like the other night, I let my run go to hang out w/ a good friend I hadn’t seen in awhile. I hesitated to say yes at first b/c I really wanted to go home & workout, but basically I *made* myself go. A couple Fridays ago – same thing. I worked out after school and then didn’t want to go out & meet friends for even a single beer. (I had 3 beers and no bar food that night, so it was fine.) I just try to remind myself that life is too short not to make time for people. The TM and the weights will still be there tomorrow. So, anyway, I think I have a much better handle on not getting TOO crazy-obsessed like I was before.

Karen ::: happy 8th birthday to your DD! I hear you on the weather – enough already! It’s hard to believe that earlier this month, it was 70 degrees and I was running in shorts and a tee!! I think that is why the cold now is such a shock and I can’t deal with it.

Kristi ::: most HMs around here are in the $25-35 range for early entry and will usually go up $5-10 for late entry. So, I agree that the jump for late entry on the Derby seems a bit steep! Then again, I have seen one HM that was $50 for early entry and $70 for late entry!! Well, think about it this way :: if you register the two of you now, you can buy yourself a new running (shirt/pant/fill-in-the-blank)! :) Though I’m not running in the frigid temps now, when I used to my bottom layer would be an Under Armour-type long-sleeve, then a performance fleece on top, and a lined windbreaker-type jacket. On the bottom, I’d wear a thick pair of tights. And then, of course, 1-2 pairs of socks, gloves, and a hat. The neck gaitors Laura mentioned are great, too. The brand I like is Turtle Fur.

Christine ::: I love that feeling of “good” tired! Thanks for the offer of chicken soup. I intended to make some last night, but I fell asleep early. That’ll be lunch for today.

Carole ::: how much are you looking to lose? Oh, yeah! I remember the last time I had the sniffles coming on (not very long ago), your DH was down with a bug also. You & Shelly mentioned the purple bands…did you get yours from fwonline? I know I’m not ready for silver, but purple is the next step up after green, correct?

Sunny ::: nice deal from the company!!! This is such an exciting time for you! After some hectic weeks, enjoy having a little breather. :)

Susan ::: How’d it go with the PT? Hope the throat gunk goes away soon and you & Mariah both feel better! I am going to go for a walk on the tm today just to do SOMETHING. Good luck on the clean eating! I have strayed a bit myself in the past week and need to regroup.

Laurie ::: I think allowing the lip piercing was a wise move, even if it is a little hard to handle. (Personally, it seems like it’d be painful!) The way you described it sounds like it was tastefully done, as piercings go. As you said, she’s a great kid with her act together…I think parents have to pick their battles… this is a small thing to give in on, and is – in all likelihood – a temporary adornment.

Shelly ::: whatever wore out our Shelly-nator must have been SERIOUSLY hardcore! Hope your next night @ work is a bit easier on you. I think I had two colds last year…this year, I’ve been going through this spiel usually once but sometimes twice a month! I’ll have a bug for 1-2 days, and then I manage to snap out of it. It’s weird! But I’m hoping I can do the same this time. A lot of race calendars aren’t quite full for summer just yet, but I know there is a Barnegat to Bay 8K in Barnegat. Keep us posted on your plans…if I can work it on my schedule, I’d love to drive down and meet up with you for a race! Enjoy those new workouts!!

Have a great day, everyone!
Cathy :)

Good Morning.

My goodness, we can't keep Cathy down for nothin'! She is home SICK and STILL one of the first posters here in the morning! LOL I need to come live w/you Cathy...I'll NEVER oversleep!:+

Anywhooo, my lats are still talkin' to me girls. OMG! Thank goodness there is no back work on tap for me today. It's shoulders and arms and ARX.

I managed a stretch last night finally around 9pm. I did segment one of stretchmax. I had inititally intended something longer but it was better then nothing, right? I realized during that stretch that my chest is also sore but it's not as noticable until I try to stretch those muscles and then...OUCHEES!}(

So I guess we are all a bit OCD about exercise, ey? LOL That's okay...it's in a GOOD way right? :+ I have just grown to love it and my day doesnt' feel complete with out it. Even on the days where it's a struggle to get motivated, I feel better once it's done!

Cathy: Feel better soon!!!!

Marcia: Good luck at the weigh-in tonight!!!!

Sunny: Sorry that other job will not work out for you but keep looking girl! That is so great that your DH took the reigns at home w/o even being asked when you started your training position. Did you thank him for doing that? ;) }( :7

Wendy :: You are really lovin' the P90 system, eh? It sounds like you're workin' it hard!...LOL - Yeah, I am usually this way during the school year...But during long breaks or in the summer (if I don't have to work), I do adjust & manage to "sleep in" a little later. I might have slept longer today if I hadn't nodded off so early! Oversleeping is never a problem for me...well, except for that little incident in Amsterdam when I missed my train...oops! But what happens in Amsterdam STAYS in Amsterdam! }( }( }( *lol*

Good Morning Ladies:) I have to work this morning so I'm hoping to fit in 10-10-10 and PUB. I've been really funked out the past few weeks, I'm not depressed but just *Blahhh*. To make things worse I've indulged in over eating and now my jeans don't fit. Yesterday I did something I hadn't done in almost a year, I stepped on the scale and WHOA!! What a cold slap of reality that was. I am on day 3 of reconciling my indulgent behaviour and mustering up my discipline to shed some of this fat. It's been a few years since I've felt my weight was slipping out of my control but I know that if I can get that control back it will go along way to getting out of the *Blahhh* phase I'm floundering in. I'm glad to be able to come here and express (vent) my frustration with myself, I got myself into it but I'll lean on y'all a bit to get me out of it:)

Cathy, thanks for the input, I'm in full agreement with choosing battles carefully. Marley's so cute, she would have liked a nose piercing but she's allergic to a lot of things and never goes a day without at least 2 or 3 sneezes (15 in a row is her record:+ ), she's practical enough to have realised before hand that snuffy Marley and a nose piercing wouldn't be such a good mix:)

Marcia, you're one energetic lady this a.m.!!! :) Good luck with your weigh in!

ETA~Wendy, I'll admit to being more than a little OCD with my workouts, too bad I can't say the same for my food intake. Glad you're enjoying P90X so much, it seems to hit those lats like no other at home workout.

Good Day to all of you Cheetahs to follow! Have a weally wonderful Wednesday:+

Take Care
Laurie

HI :)

Cathy- I am sorry you have another virus. I didn't realize your were an 8th grade teacher. Do you teach English? (My youngest DS is in 8th grade)

Marcia- I'm sure you will do great at your weigh in today :7

Sunny- which legs will you do today? A vacation is always a good motivator for cleaning up our diets!

Today is a 5 mile canal run; we haven't been on the canal in 2 weeks because of the snow. but I'm thinking by now it the paths should be packed down well.

OK my kitten is trying to put his head on the key board and rest. I have to keep re typing my words here. TTFN....

HI Laurie- I'm glad you came here to check in with the Cheetahs; we all have those times where our eating choices are poor. some of us are doing ETL for clean eating habits and there is a check in if you are interested.

Wendy- hi five ^^ on all those p90X workouts:7 I rarely get back DOMS, but believe it or not a really focused kick box WO will give me back DOMS. Perhaps I do not lift heavy enough in Cathe's back workouts. hmmm I ave GS BBS on tomorrow...

OK this kitty is winning fight forthekeyboard...

Good morning Cheetahs!!

This morning I woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground. I would have preferred 2-3 inches of snow, but since it is not the weekend this will do. I've been praying for some snow so I can DS sledding and build a snow man with him. We normally don't get much snow here so that is why I'm okay with the white stuff. I'm sure if I lived up north I would feel completely different.

On taps for today is PUB/LB Up Premix.

Have a great workout today! Hi to all Cheetahs!!:) :) :)

Hiya Cheetahs!

Busy day yesterday, and another busy one today, so I don’t have much time to post (which is why I’m on line at 4:45AM!!). Today is P90X Shoulders and Arms – I like this one and I will actually do Ab Ripper X. My only beef with ARX is that I feel I work my hip flexors more than my abs. But, once a week it’s good. Then gym time – we’ll see what happens at the gym. I’ll go with a coworker – and if she wants to take a class, I will – except if she wants to do abs. I want some cardio.

Marcia – good luck with the weigh in – I think you’ll do well!! You’ve been working so hard.

Sunny – Well, I’m glad you are out sooner with no hard feelings! Good for you! Sorry the other gym did not work out, but you’re being smart if it’s not decent pay. Never settle. You’ll find what you want!

Cathy – I hope you’re feeling better!! Sounds like you had quite a day yesterday with your students. Enjoy your chicken soup!

Wendy – yeah, Cathy is a dynamo, isn’t she? I’ll be doing Shoulders and Arms with you today. I can still feel it in my lats and chest – and I only use the bands! I HAVE to get me a pull up bar…

Judy – enjoy your canal run. I also get a great DOMS going with a tough kickbox workout. I love the feeling from that!

Laurie – oh, I HATE that feeling when I try on my jeans and they don’t fit. Good job at nipping it in the bud. You strike me as a fairly cheerful person, so the blahs must be tough. I love your attitude, though – you’ll battle your way out – I know you will!! And we’re here to cheer you on the whole way. Good job at picking your battles as well!

Kristi – enjoy your snow and PUB/LB Premix today!

I hope to check back later and say hi! It depends on how busy I am at work… Be careful what you wish for, eh?

Hi Cheetahs--
So much energy here this morning already! That is so awesome.

Taking a cue from Laurie, I did Cardio Fusion this morning but without the power circuits and then moved to GSL standing since it was a leg day. I hope to go back and do floor work and abs later. Fun tape.

Laurie—Happy bday to Marley that’s a milestone of age and it’s super she’s such a nice girl. You’re being very mature and thoughtful about the piercing and it’s great she likes "the look" and you can support her idea of what makes her look and feel good. About the food – man, it’s hard to stay on top of it all. I’m sure you will get back on track, don’t be hard on yourself. It's a blah time of year everywhere but California and Arizona!!!

Christine--busy at work is a good thing?? Have a great day and enjoy shoulders & arms and some cardio at lunch. I saw an article yesterday in my DH's brand new bicycling magazine you might like, it had a bike schedule similar to a run schedule. I can copy it for you if you're interested.

Wendy-from yesterday: 3 miles is a good distance – compact, but solid. Your “bit” of DOMS kicked up a notch --- you’re working hard. Thanks for the high fives on running in the cold. The OCD thing is interesting. I’m not sure where the line is between dedication and determination and being a little insane/addicted to exercise in a not-good way.

Shelly—sorry about the rough night at work Monday. It must have been bad. Definitely stick to your resolve to play it safe with an injury. Definitely unfair that as you are more fit you burn fewer calories – and as you get older you burn fewer calories….Total rip off as far as I’m concerned. What’s the date of your May HM? What did you think of the Amy Bento workout?

-Barb

:) :) :)

whoops -- a few more personals.

Marcia – Oh I feel nervous just thinking about a weigh-in at WW. Which program are you doing? Core or flex? I got confused doing Core for awhile because it wasn’t clear to me what the limits were on certain foods. Have fun with abs & the elliptical. I have some ab work to do later myself.

Jess—the kickboard is a great tool, especially when you focus on keeping abs engaged tightly the whole time. When I swim, I will throw in kickboard laps just to break up the monotony and it’s always a little harder than I think it would be. What’s the date of your May HM?

Kristi—I love the PUB/PLB premix. I always feel good afterwards and like the sequence of the exercises. About the chore thing: it is true that making a list of chores for someone else to do isn’t the same comfort as having someone just step in and do it – but it’s better than doing it all yourself and feeling stressed. You are a good woman for keeping up your exercising, working and taking care of the house with 2 kids under the age of 5. 16 months is a busy, busy hard age. Know you are not alone in any of your frustrations.

Judy—How do you like Cardio Coach? Which one to you have. I have only tried itrains and like them a lot. Have fun on your canal run. Do you wear trail shoes? I‘m thinking of getting some.

Sunny—thanks for the compliment re: advice. I’m glad you are feeling so happy about the job change. I love that freedom feeling.

SuperCarole--what's the plan for today? :)

Hello to everyone checking in later. Have a great day!
-Barb:) :) :)

Good morning cheetahs

Sunny...enjoy your leg & ab workout today.

Cathy...I need to loose about 10. It's been coming on slowly the last year. Too much stress I think!...:)...I did get my purple band from fwonline and yes it is the next resistance up from the green. I hope your bug goes away fast...

Marcia...have fun with the Elliptical and good luck with WW tonight. My sister and a client of mine are both going also. They seem to be doing well...

Wendy...I did notice when I read thru the posts quick last night that OCD was mentioned alot! Have fun with P90X S&A...

Judy..enjoy the canal run today. I will have a chilly run as it is now 27... but no snow ans not much moisture in the air these days so no ice either.

Laurie...I am in the same boat. When I finally got on the scale I had the same reaction....WTH?...yes, I know better! I think I have finally gained control but wow, it is coming off real sloooooooow...You have had a lot of emotional trauma and I know that doesn't help with weight normally. I do feel checking in can help. We can loose it together...:)..enjoy 10-10-10 and PUB.

Kristi..we don't get much snow either, maybe once a year but I find it quite fun!! Have fun with the PUB/PLB premix.

Christine...Enjoy S&A with Wendy, I get to do it next week!! I know for me it was onlty the 1st few times ARX affected my hip flexors. After I did it a few weeks it got more into my abs.

Hi Barb! Good job with CF and GS Legs, that workout is quite fun for the legs. My workout is right below...:)

Today I will do Bodymax upper (the first BM) abs and a 4 or 5 mile run.

I will go back to yesterdays posts to see what I missed...

Have a good day...:)

Carole--how is it that cold in California? Does it warm up as the day goes on. Have a fun run and BM1 upper. I haven't done that DVD in a long time.

Susan--did you get your elliptical yet?

-Barb:)

Some more....

Sunny...I have been teased about having OCD! WOW...glad you got out of your job and with pay!! It'll be great having more time for workouts.

Karen..I do use protein bars sometimes. Half of one before my workouts (except my long runs) and if I get stuck at work not having a break for real food, I will use one then.

Susan...hope you and Mariah are feeling better. Good luck with the clean eating, I bet your weight will come off in not time. I did an iClimb yesterday and during on of the sprints I got my HR up to 161! That is highly unusual except for running, so I think the Elliptical is awesome!!!

Barb...I have done some iTreads also. And I am smiling because I did the one with the little one saying GO!..that was so cute! I prefer iClimbs when I want a tougher workout and iTreads when I need a bit less intensity. The cold here has been weird. We usually don't get THIS cold THIS frequently in winter. It'll get a bit warmer today, but what concerns me is there is absolutely no moisture in the air. My plants look like they do in the summer...thirsty! I am thinking when it finally rains, we might need an ark!

Shelly..sorry about the rough night at work...yes, it is great there are other forms of cardio! I know most of us runners learn the hard way about injuries. the key is to get thru aging without more injuries!! As for the SB I like both teams, I was a Bear fan the last time they went to the SB (1985), I have never been a huge Indy fan but I think Manning (the QB) is one of the best in that position. So, I am hoping for a close, exciting SB! The abs in HSC are one of my favorite ab workouts.

Judy...when I do legs before a run, I do the leg warm-up, the leg workout and then the run. When I get back I try for the leg stretch!

Hi gals:

Cathy - I was hoping to rearrange my duties at work to incorporate more marketing and design, but that really hasn't taken off much yet. I still have my fingers crossed, though, that they will let me do that.

Sunny - I knew it, too, that somebody would be posting the same time this morning. When I saw there wasn't a start, I was going to wait a few minutes to see if somebody would post, but I was afraid that I would not have enough time before getting ready for work. ;-)

Barb - I'm doing the Flex on WW. I really like Core, but I still eat too much that way. Flex gives me, I feel, more grab-n-go options and that helps at work.

Just got here at work and, again, people-kids-staff are all dropping like flys - sick with either flu or upper respiratory. YUCK x( :-(

Stay healthy everyone, Marcia.

G'morning Cheetahs!! I finally got everything taped in Hannah's room last night, so I'm off to paint trim!! It won't take long to paint, it always takes longer to get it ready!! Then it should dry by this afternoon & I can get things rearranged in there. She's so excited to have a *new* room. It really does look different!

I'm going to do some yoga today. I've been slacking on it & I know I need to do it. I'll do Baron's yoga for athletes, and then I need to do biceps. My knee was a bit sore last night so I stretched extra. I'll try another run on the TM at the gym tomorrow. I'm NOT running on consecutive days & will keep it between 3-5 miles until we start to train for the HM (May 5th, Barb! It's the Indy 500 HM, I'll be running w/ 35,000+ other people!!)

OK, I have to get painting so it can dry! My reward later will be some more computer time! :p

Good morning ladies,
I still have this stinking cold, but I am not letting it slow me downt today. I am off to the gym to do the elliptical for 45 minutes and then PUB bi, and back. My little Mariah still has a cold, but seems to be holding her own and she wants to go to school today because it is pajama day. I will call the school after my workout and see how she is.

My eating is back on track and I think these last 2pounds will be gone in a few days. I am funny that way, if I get to close to 140, I freak out. I like to be around 135-137.

No time for personals right now, but I will be back soon. 9 more days until I meet cheetah girl Christine, YAY!!!!

Cheers!

Susan
