Cathlete
Insomniac cheetah reporting for duty...

I have been up since 2 am x( BOOOOO! It was one of those situations where I woke up and had to pee and just can't get back to sleep. Hate that! But I got tired of just lying there, so here I am.

Today, my sister, future BIL, and I are helping my parents put in a new walkway, so my day will involve a lot of shoveling and wheelbarrowing of dirt, but I plan to get in an early-bird run beforehand - something light like 3 miles. Believe it or not, it's been a couple weeks (!)since I went out and pounded the pavement. It's funny...winter never really deterred me from running before, but as I mentioned the other day, I'm surprised myself at how much I've cut back. As soon as spring REALLY kicks in, though, it'll be a different story. When the sun's out & it's warm, that's when I have a hard time working out *inside.* *lol*

Even though I kept my weights the same as last time I did B&B, I sure am feeling the DOMS in my bi's from y'day's workout! Also have to say, as much as I love the X, I'm looking forward to starting a BBC rotation in June. I love having all these hardcore workouts to choose from!!

All right, that's a whole lotta rambling right there...have a great Saturday, ladies! BBL

Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning, Cathy and Cheetahs! Another sleepless Cheetah checking in! I have been missing in action this week. I battle SAD, and it hit me hard this week. I do not usually struggle in April as this form of depression is triggered by lack of light. Of course, it does not usually snow in Texas in April either! The cold and dreary days that hit threw me for a loop. My body thought it was winter. I also had an extremely stressful week at work and crashed back down to reality after my Good Friday high. I was too tired to move by the end of each day, so I blessed my body by going to bed early instead of checking in. I woke up in the middle of the night a few times. Thankfully, I invested in a light box last year. After sitting in front of my light box every morning this week, I finally started feeling better last night. I thought I would actually sleep through the night. My neighbors had another wild party last night, so I have been up since 1:00 a.m.

I persevered and pushed myself through my workouts this week even though I was tired. It was not my best performance by far, but at least I did something. I started my 16-week fat blasting rotation Sunday morning with my beloved Rhythmic Step. I did the Butts and Guts abs and stretch segments Sunday evening, and I enjoyed my beloved Butts and Guts leg blast premix Monday morning.

Tuesday morning, I had a blast with the Body Max 2 cardio and weights premix. Fun, fun, fun! Body Max 2 is still the crown jewel of this new series. I love the choreography in this workout. My new Reebox cross training shoes did not feel good during the warm-up, so I returned to my Nike Shox Turn and Go cross training shoes. Perfect! I have special shoes for special workouts. It is funny how different choreography flows better and feels more comfortable with different shoes. I will be having a serious shoe crisis when it comes time to pack my bags for the Road Trip! Cathe will think I am a nut if I change shoes during one of her live classes! My butt was sore from the Butts and Guts leg blast premix, and my abs were super sore from the Butts and Guts abs that I did Sunday night. It was hard to do the Body Max 2 ab and core work Tuesday morning. I coasted through part of it.

I did Cardio Kicks Wednesday morning. After a long day at work, I was looking forward to jogging in the pool with Rebecca. I drove home during my lunch hour to pack my bag for the club and forgot my beach towel. I drove all the way home after work, grabbed my towel, and rushed to the club to meet Rebecca only to discover that management chose that day of all days to drain and resurface the pool. While I was at the club, I observed a few minutes of my friend’s cardio boot camp class. Oh my! She had the class outside in the parking lot doing high impact moves like jumping jacks on the pavement!

Thursday morning was Drill Max. Oh my! I have plenty of room to grow with this one. The push-ups and dips on the stability ball are still out of my league. I can do a few if I modify by resting the ball next to my sofa to keep it stable. I also modify the last drill by placing my hands on my step platform for the squat thrust move. That small modification makes a big difference.

I relaxed with Stretch Max yesterday morning. I am planning to do Kari Anderson’s DanceWorks this morning followed by Jen Carman’s Strength in Movement. Friday and Saturday are basically active recovery days for me.

I packed my meals and snacks every day this week, so my eating was very clean. I knew I was dealing with depression because I was extremely tired even after taking naps, exercising consistently, and eating clean all week. I also had no appetite and was extremely emotional and sensitive about everything.

I am hoping that Cathe finds time to film Rhythmic Step 2 this year! I am disappointed that she is no longer planning to film it with the 4-day split as originally planned. I also prefer the original 4-day split that was going to have 2 days of upper body and 2 days of lower body. I use parts of the CTX Series all the time, so I am sure I will enjoy the cardio segments if nothing else. I also love Push Pull and Supersets. If the new 4-day split has a similar format, I will enjoy it. I love the Slow and Heavy Series. Those are the only heavy weight training workouts I have ever enjoyed. I will get more use out of that series and the sequel when I get closer to my goal weight. My body sheds fat with cardio and circuit training. I am not sure about the boxing series. I will see what Cathe shows us in August. I definitely do not have room for a heavy bag. My workout room is my living room. I do not have a coffee table as it is. I am not selling the rest of my furniture! My living room is already decorated with a step, a high step, risers, weights, and a rebounder! As for the digital workouts, I will see what Cathe produces before I decide about them. I do not have an iPod yet and do not enjoy weight machines or cardio machines. It she does an outdoor walking or running workout, I might like it. Of course, Cathe has a way of making me love workouts I never dreamed I would enjoy!

Have a blessed Saturday!

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Grrr! Change of plan: the walkway project is starting earlier than I thought, so I have to get movin' here & push back my run. Hopefully, I'll still have some gas after this is all done! I have no idea how much work it'll entail...I'm just followin' orders. :)

Heather :: good to see ya...sorry to hear about the SAD setback but it sounds like you got in some great workouts and are doing better. I love k'boxing but also don't have room for a bag and have no interest in doing all the hand-wrapping, etc. BUT it sounds like the bagwork is only *part* of the whole workout, so I think it will be something of interest for me. Oh, who am I kidding? I imagine I'll be buying them all...*lol*

OK, gotta jet for some manual labor! Ciao! :)

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning:

Heather - Great to see you here!

Cathy - Have fun shoveling dirt! That will be a good workout in itself, nothing like hard manual labor to get you going. You probably won't have any trouble sleeping tonight.

I'm just checking in quick. I have a Tastefully Simple show that starts an hour earlier than I thought, good thing I checked one more time, I would've been late :-(

Yesterday I walked 40 minutes at lunch, ran 2 miles and walked another mile or so after work. It was a shorter run than I would've liked, but I'm just getting back into it and man am I out of "running shape".

Take care all, I'll be back if I can.

Marcia.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning!

Cathy - Oh my! I am sorry about your 2:00 a.m. awakening! That is nice of you to help build your parent's walkway! Hope you get to fit in your run....but you will be getting plenty of a workout doing the work at your parent's! (and hope you get to fit in a nap! :) )

Heather - Hi there! I am glad you checked in! I was wondering about you yesterday! Those are some great workouts you logged this past week! Good job! I hope your SAD lifts soon! Hopefully, it will be nice outside soon! LOL about your shoes! But...I can soo relate! ;-)

Marcia - That was a good walk and run! Enjoy the party...good thing you double checked! ;)

Shelly - Yes, I did subscribe to iTrain! Yay! I love it and now I will really be more excited about it!

Christine - PUPPY DAY!!! :7 I am so excited for you! I can't wait to hear about him when you get him home! I am truly keeping my fingers crossed for you guys that everything turns out perfectly!

Well, I have P90X L&B on tap for today and probably a run. I kind of want to try out Tracey's new step or kickbox workout....but I think I should run :+ Who knows what I will end up doing! Hi to everyone and hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! It's going to be stormy here this weekend and SNOW tomorrow;(

LInda

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Cathy - I went back and was reading your post about P90X yesterday. Thanks for the encouragement....I needed it! I hope my experience ends up like yours! That was good to hear!

Shelly - Those are some awfully hot temps! I am sorry you have to go for the training in those conditions! Ugh! Plus the fact that you already have already had so much experience in that field! That was always my dream...but ....here I am :-(

Jess - I hope your little one is doing much better today! Can't wait to hear what you guys think of P90X!

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Cathy-that makes 2 days in a row of early mornings, doesn't it??? Enjoy your walkway project. I LOVE projects like that!

Heather-glad to see you back. And I agree on the RS 2. I love Cathe's all step workouts, and then the combo at the very end of all segments together. At least she's still planning on doing a workout like that (even though not part of the 4 day split).

Marcia-enjoy your TS party. I did make those truffle brownies and they were DELISH!!!!! The blue aztec chips were also AWESOME!!!

Linda-can you believe some of us are STILL getting snow? The bad storm is supposed to hit us tonight sometime. Unbelievable! LOL

OK....finished yesterday strong and completely 'on program' food-wise. I am happy about that. This morning, I ALMOST slept in; but didn't. I got up later than planned, but still got in my 6 mile easy (but fast) run. Felt great. I'm with Cathy, though. I haven't been outside for a run in a LOONNNNNNNNGGG time. I've been doing all my miles on the TM with iTreads and stuff! But as soon as the weather warms up for good, I'm planning on getting outside MORE!

Gotta get the day going. Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA. I'm looking forward to that!

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Good morning cheetahs and I hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start! I'm at work now, started off busy but mellowed out later:)
Today will be a (gasp) rest day:7 If I wake up early I'll do some stretch max.

Cathy- Up at 0200:eek:  That is truly obscene! Especially since you'll be doing manual labor today! You should pass out like a stone tonight:eek:

Heather- Sorry you've been dealing with the blues lately, but it's good to hear you perservered with the workouts anyway! Nice to hear from ya!

Marcia- Sounds like you got in 3+ miles with your running and walking!!! Good job, I think you'll get back in running shape quicker than you think. Good luck with your TS party:)

Linda- Sounds like good weather to be staying inside and enjoying your new TM!!! I'll be interested to hear your opinion of Tracey's new workouts.

My duty calls...... Hi to all who follow!

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hi All!

I’m up and ready to go – well I need a shower, but soon I’ll be ready to go. No workout for me. I was thinking I’d sneak one in this morning, but decided there was too much going on. All the supplies are bought (except for a Vittle Vault for the puppy’s food – I was thinking I’d use the same food but the darned sales guy talked me into something else – which I do think is a little better – so I have old fart food for Kimo and little fart food for the puppy…). Kimo even got a pretty pink collar (hers was getting pretty icky). Jimmy will sport a bright red one. I’ve stuffed the kongs and popped them into the freezer – so I’m all set to start crate training!

Cathy – so sorry you were up since 2AM – I HATE that!!! And I’m also sorry you’ll miss your run – but it sounds like you’ll get quite the workout anyway.

Heather – I suffer SAD in the fall, so I know how tough it can be! Congrats on keeping up the workouts – that is tough! I’m very impressed. I love Body Max 2! You’re right – it’s the crown jewel – that and Imax 2 are the ones I pull out if I’m feeling blah and need a pick me up.

Marcia – Hope your Tastefully Simple party brings is a lot of $$$! Good job on the running – you’ll get there again.

Linda – Oh, I’m so excited, too. I’m hoping he’s even half of what the breeder says. How’s Maddie doing by the way? She must be growing like a weed now! Enjoy L&B!! Snow?! Oh ick! Don’t the weather gods know it’s April?!?

Gayle – Great job at eating well! Can you share your secret? I’ve been horrid lately! Hope it warms up soon so running outside becomes possible! Have fun at the Y sounds like a great time!!

Shelly – Have fun at work and enjoy your rest day (a rest day?!?) Any motorcycling on the agenda for today? Enjoy your rest day – you deserve it!

Well, I’m off for the showers and to print directions and gather puppy supplies! Then we’re off!!! It’s a rainy, dreary day here, so I’m piling in towels to clean off muddy little puppy feet. Enjoy your day everyone!

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hi ladies!!

I'm back from my 5K. I ran it in 28:41 and came in first place in my age group. I got a trophy and a t-shirt! Think I came in 37 overall. Don't know how soon results will be posted. They didn't provide bib numbers for the 5K, only to the half and marathoners. A man ran the thing in 18 minutes and he said that was a slow time for him. We were served bananas and cookies after the race. I started off too fast and the first leg was a hill. Thought I would never get my breath but it finally leveled out. Legs felt good. Oh, yeah, the rain stopped about 7:00 and started back after the awards ceremony. So, I didn't get wet.

Kristi - Hope dd feels better. That was a good time for your 10K last year. Good luck with increasing your speed.

Gayle - Way to think positive about your goals. Yes, stop beating yourself up. We've all been there and done that. Good luck with the new game plan. Good run today.

Christine - Only a few days longer to put up with the jerks at work. I know you are a gracious person too. That's why I like that in 3 years I'll be eligible for retirement and I'll be a member of the KMA club. Then, I can tell them you can take this job and shove it at any time. Is Jimmy home yet?

Shelly - Those are some hot times to be going Phoenix. Sorry you have to go for the training. So, did you do all of BM2? I bow to you!! Enjoy your rest day after work.

Cathe - CC is my credit card. It keeps finding its way out of my purse. Sorry you're having a hard time sleeping. Nice of you to help your parents out.

Heather - Sorry you had such a hard time this week but I'm glad to see you're back. At least you channeled your time toward getting some needed rest. Bad neighbors for keeping you awake!

Marcia - Hope your party goes well!

Linda - I just ordered Tracey's kick box and sculpt. Let me know what you think when you try yours out. What did you end up doing?

I stopped at Kohl's after my race and was talked into getting a makeover. Bought some new eye shadow and blush and a few other items. Spent $150 - more than I planned. But, it's all good. Gotta jump in the shower now and chill a bit. May use the foam roller afterwards.

Have a sensational Saturday everyone!

Jackie

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Jackie, GREAT JOB!!!!! I am so proud of you:) I love Kohls and it is very easy to spend a lot there.

Well ladies, I ran 3 miles today on the treadmill and I was pretty much pain free and did it in about 30 minutes. It feels so good to be running again. I am only going to run 2 days a week until I am super confident I can up that. I then did PUB chest and back, which I was supposed to do yesterday and then did KPC abs. It was a great workout.

Christine, I am so excited for you. It looks like he is going to be spoiled rotten. It is too bad the weather is so crappy today. Will you take a pic of Jimmy with his new family and post it,pretty please?

I have to run off to Walmart now ladies. Have a great day and I will try to get back later.

Cheers!

Susan

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Christine - Maddie is spoiled rotten....but wonderful! She is such a sweetie and she really is growing fast! Can't wait to hear about Jimmy!!

Jackie - Great job on the run! That is a good time! I wish I was that fast. But...maybe one of these days! :)

I ended up running with a 40 minute iTread and doing P90X L&B.
I didn't do my Tracey workout. But I will be sure and let you guys know what I think of them. They look great upon preview! :7

Shelly - Enjoy your rest day! (and stretch max)!

Susan - I am so glad you ran painfree again! That is great! Good job on the PUB! I would love to go to WalMart when not very many people were in the store...so I could look and look! It is always so crowded that I can't really look and always have buggy collisions when I round the corners . I love going in there and Target when it is not crowded! :)

We are getting ready to go out to dinner with some friends. I am starving to death!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Linda

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Oh my - I'm in love! Jimmy has only been home a few hours, but he's already stolen my heart. He's just a cuddle bug and the pictures I've posted do not do him justice at all. The whole way home in the car he leaned up against me, calm as calm can be and just watched everything. I am a little scared though - we have power windows and I opened one to entertain him. I opened it and closed it - he watched the window for a moment, then looked at my finger on the button and gave me a look like, "Oh, so that's how you do it". The guy is smart. I have him in the crate with the door shut and locked with a kong stuffed with peanut butter and he's having the time of his life. I'll post some photos as soon as I can get the little guy to sit still for a second.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Okay - Jimmy is pooped! So he's resting. Here's a photo of right before he went down...

http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/7663/picture007vx2.jpg

Funny, he's getting a long very well with Kimo, our older dog. He's a fairly calm puppy, actually and Kimo growled a little, but he learned quickly what he can do and what he can't. But when our neighbor stopped by with her 1 year old toy poodle he got very scared and barked at the poodle. This poodle is very hyper and spastic - I've wanted to bark at him, too.

I'm having so much fun with the little guy. Sorry - it's HUGE - I don't know how to make it smaller.

RE: Cheetahs Check-in

Hi all! I usually can't check in between work nights but I had a little time on my hands. Did some abs from BM2 and LIC and SM#1
Feelin rested and fine!

Jackie- Congratulations!!!!! Fantastic performance but no surprise to me! 1st place in your AG too:7 :7 :7 :7 So, when's the next race? }(

Christine- Oh you are having such fun now:7 :7 Puppies are definitely one of Gods special blessings!! He does appear to be an unusually calm puppy (at least in the pic) He is one lucky guy to have you for a mom! :* :* :* kisses for Jimmy :* :* :* :*

I'll catch up with the rest of you tomorrow morning.
