Opposite effect

I did my first yoga tape ever last night and woke up this morning with a sore lower back. I am so disappointed. I didn't enjoy the yoga workout anyway, and now I have a sore back.

RE: Opposite effect

Erica,

I kind of have the same experience as you. I only have one or two yoga tapes. I don't like it and my back also was sore afterwards. I prefer just some simple stretches as I am just wanting more flexibility anyway. I have minor back pain almost constantly and I was hoping that throwing in yoga/stretches would help. The stretching does seem to help me some!

Thanks Kelly!

I have been feeling like such a dork getting injured doing yoga! I think I actually pulled a muscle last night - I'm pretty sore. I'm going to stick with my regular exercise routine and just add some more stretching to improve my flexibility.

RE: Wow - consistent with the yoga!

Hi Debra!! I'm truly loving the yoga!! The only way I can fit it in is to get up at 5:30 in the morning and do it. Now that part really sucks for me because I am NOT a morning person!! It's funny though, I'm not as much of a grouch as I used to be when I woke up later. I still need my coffee, but now I wouldn't trade in my morning yoga sessions for anything!! I can't do cardio or weights in the a.m., but doing yoga in the a.m. IMHO is a wonderful way to wake up:)!

Nancy!

That sounds so FUN!!! And I know exactly what you mean about being wiped out and not being able to give it your all for tris. I want to try it, and am going to tomorrow, because I'm rotation-free for a week, just having fun doing whatever I want. I'm so glad I saw this, and can't wait to try it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes...
Wendy :) :)
PS I just went back and read it again--it just sound so perfect!! Whoopee, I'm excited!!

RE: Oh Wow!!

I almost got the L.A. yoga conditioning for weightloss!! I debated between these two for a LONG time!! I'm still waiting on my tapes to arrive. Do you have Crunch Joy of Yoga?? Or Ali MacGraw's tape? Their both very good and not boring! The Crunch tapes is only $10.00 too!! The A.M. tape is $15. I'm trying to decided if I like Bryan Kest. The workout is good, I just don't know if I like his style yet. Does that make sense?? PLEASE let me know what you think of the yoga tapes you try, because I'm trying to build a collection, but like you, they've got to keep me interested!! Ok, thanks Kate!!

Congratulations, Trevor!

I am so thrilled for you! It's true what they say about childbirth -- it hurts worse than plie squats with a 200 pound barbell, but as soon as it's over, all you remember are the magical parts. I am really happy for your new, bigger family and your beautiful little boy. Congrats on that first poop, too!

Well, I've pretty much stopped checking in over here. I already check in regularly on VF and I just don't seem to have the time to visit both forums regularly. So --

Just for old times sake, I'll do a semi- check-in here. As in -- I don't remember WHAT the heck I did last week, but here are a few highlights of the last month or so.

(1) Took a kickboxing class with heavy bags and loved it. I ALWAYS find kickboxing boring, although I like the live classes much more than the videos. (Even Cathe's kboxing videos, sorry to say.) But punching and kicking with a live partner and a heavy bag made a huge difference, I can't wait to do it again. Although I think I may have to invest in some shin guards, since my legs are black and blue, with broken skin here and there too. Ouch!

(2) Am still using the CTX videos and Circuit Max A LOT. I love having the choices between PS, CTX and MIS for strength. I now have a free weight workout for any time limit, any energy limit. It's great.

(3) I'm still doing a lot of Christi Taylor stuff. And I took a live Christi T class over in Bethesda about a week ago and had a ball.

(4) Still running a lot. I've been thrilled to have recently acquired a running partner who runs about my speed and distance. Unfortunately, after about 3 times running my favorite lake trail with me, he just told me his knees can't take it any more. So I'm going to keep running with him when I can, but we'll be doing more road running and less trails. I still plan to get some trail runs in.

That's all folks! I'm very rejuvenated in 2001. Something in me just went, "I am woman, hear me roar" and I feel as if nothing can keep me from loving my workouts this year. Life is good and I'm so grateful that I can keep plugging away at this stuff for another year.
